    New England clam chowder
    Bill W.

Boy were these folks here at Ted's Fish fry accommodating to me I haven't been in this place for a year year and a half. I grew up here in San Antonio and the first thing I do when I get off the plane Rent A Car I go to Ted's fish fry, the food was great. The clam chowder was great. I can't say enough. I'll be back tomorrow or the next day again.

Lunch Special and Fish and chips
    Emily U.

Decided to check this place out after seeing its menu online, first walking it the place felt cosy and the staff in the front was friendly. Didn't know what sauces I wanted so she gave me all of them. We ordered the lunch special and fish and chips, both were great, wish it was a little crisper as well but I would definitely come back here to try more. Only wish they had fresh lemon, also a need for seafood.

    Fried rubber band clams

Don't have the fried clams unless you like chewing on rubber bands. I can't even imagine how the calamari would be. Shrimp is heavily breaded and greasy. Waste of money.

    Disengenuous Response

Beware: Dishonest Ownership In response to our previously written reviews the owner requested that we contact him at tedsfishfrymarketing at gmail.com The owner continues to claim they do not receive emails from us - This is a complete con job by a dishonest ownership and we can confirm and validate this We tested this over the past week by sending emails from three new accounts and received no response - That is now (5) five email accounts used to contact the company which are subsequently ignored. In fact the company does not need the customer to contact them - They have our contact from the order receipt, the ability to contact us through TA and Google via their accounts In April we also sent two emails two weeks apart from two different email addresses, leaving phone numbers and emails address's to contact us - To ad insult to our meager dinning experience the disingenuous owner failed to contact us back as promised! Our experience failed to live up to expectations based on all the great recommendations and overwhelmingly positive reviews. Initially they could not find our order at the take out - Confusion ended upon viewing the receipt and also provided our smile of the day after we noted the name on our receipt as being 'Gods'......... The meal came ready to eat on a paper plate, with an assortment of sauces and plastic utensils.... The deep-fried fish which we smothered in Tartar Sauce was ok but not a wow and was the best part of the meal. The onion rings were a battered soggy, disgusting inedible disappointment. The French Fries could best be described as plain & boring We will give Teds a miss next time we are in the mood for deep fried fish..... However we are confused about all the fuss with the Famous Teds Fish - This is another average fish fry at best run by dishonest owners!

Manhattan chowder cold they reheated this in a microwave.

Well, at least we kept our word today when we ordered their two different bowls for takeout. My wife ordered the Fishbowl ($30) with the grilled fish of the day (salmon), cherry tomatoes, quinoa, feta, peaches, arugula, and basil lime vinaigrette (she said no to onions). She could not get over how tasty the quinoa tasted and wondered how they prepared it. She also thought the peaches could have been a little sweeter since we are in prime peach season. While the salmon was just slightly overcooked we'll attribute that to it continuing to cook as we drove the meals home. Even with those minor negatives, she said she would definitely order the dish again. I chose the Poke Bowl ($35) for my meal (my first ever poke bowl) with marinated raw tuna and salmon, edamame, cucumber, watermelon radish, snap peas, nori, avocado, sesame seeds, scallions, and pea tendrils, all over sushi rice with ginger gochugaru oil and soy sauce on the side. This was absolutely delicious. It was a wonderful blend of fresh flavors and textures. If I have another poke bowl somewhere else I only hope it can come close to measuring up to the enjoyment I experienced with this one.

Another friend, Pam, had highly recommended Emma Jayne's Restaurant which is only a couple of traffic lights from Trader Joe's - a perfect location for our trip. The restaurant sits just north of Fred the Butcher (next door, literally) for those who frequent that establishment, on Route 9. There is off-street parking. When we arrived at 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, the front parking spaces were full. (Note: there may be parking around back; I didn't check) We thought we might have to wait for a table. Wrong! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious with two large rooms furnished with tables that were thoughtful spaced apart. A photo of an adorable young girl, whom we assumed was the dining establishment's namesake, was on the wall. Let me be sure to mention that the ladies room, which smelled faintly of bleach, was spotless. I mean REALLY clean! About the food ... my friend and I shared an appetizer of Fried Calamari. It was an ample portion (took some home) accompanied by sweet chili sauce - a nice change from typical marinara served at other places. However, the calamari was small and overcooked. As a result, what was presented was a plate of small, overly crisp rings of 90% batter. No squid! For our entrees, Barb chose the Chicken Salad Sandwich. She requested that it be served on a pretzel bun (touted as homemade) for which we were hit with an up-charge of $3.50. The chicken salad had grapes and walnuts in it and Barb liked it very much. The up-charged pretzel roll did not appear to be homemade. Very disappointing. Had she known it would be uninspiring, she would have accepted the brioche roll. Macaroni salad - not very exciting - accompanied the sandwich along with a pickle. I love seafood and was torn between ordering the Fish and Chips (halibut) and Lobster Pot Pie (an appetizer). Our server, Drew, gets a gold star for suggesting the second one when I told him I wasn't a big eater. Apparently, the halibut, while highly recommended, is a sizable portion. The pot pie was superb! The rich, creamy sauce was divine. I couldn't eat it all and will enjoy the rest of it for lunch today. Emma Jayne's menu has something for everyone. Our server, Drew, was informative and attentive. While we may make other food choices (skip the calamari and pretzel bun but keep the pot pie), we will definitely return.

I'm sure they have food inspectors that come in and if it was not able to pass, it would not be open. On the other review which they gave one star, I don't know when this individual called in an order but must understand that you only have a certain amount of people working, trying to please their customers so you have to give them a break. Obviously they don't want to lose customers. If it is a certain time when people are calling in phone orders and coming inside for take out, things happen. Nobody is perfect unless you walk on water. I have been telling a lot of people about this place. Thank God I'm retired and can go there anytime I want. Now I don't have to make seafood at home anymore. The only thing I'll continue making at home is the baked Salmon. Going two days in a row, I guess I'm trying to make up lost time since he has opened up. I'm good with that for sure!

There are a few and far between for sure. Today I stopped in to check out their fresh fish as I was in the area. On Tuesdays they do have a new delivery. I reviewed their website before stopping and they listed a couple of fish I wanted. I was interested in Bronzino, but once there saw they only had two whole fish left, and I wasn't sure when I would actually cook it. I decided against buying it today. I did buy a half pound of sockeye salmon and Arctic char. I also picked up a couple of packages of frozen fish, Haddock and some Scottish salmon. The prices were $$; for fresh fish it's a bargain. A gentleman came from the kitchen area shortly after I walked in and started looking at the display. Took my order, and tried to sell me on a previous cut which I declined because it was the tail end. He picked out a full fillet and I assumed that he cut the thick portion, but after arriving home and ready for the pan, found that he gave me a tail end. That's what I get for not being specific. I would like to mention he did not ask me how I wanted it cut. He was friendly enough though. They take contactless payment. They do prefer cash and will give a 3% discount for cash.
