There are at least 6-7 people already eating. Husband shows the time and was told we are closing cause there are no customers. No signage and no change of hours. Would I come back: Most likely not often. Price: The price is good. It's not really expensive. I would say it would be about $10-$20 a person. Service: service was okay. Tip: They do have a food/order menu, just ask. Setting: The setting is definitely not like an authentic Japanese restaurant. Food: The food was just okay. Nothing special. The quality of the sushi that they make doesn't seem like anything special. The work they put into the food seems like they just make it or make it quick enough to continue feeding customers. The sushi dishes I had looked messy and their roll were not tight enough that each piece I grab, everything tend to fall apart. Or they could be sticking to one another, and they tend to come apart when you're trying to grab a piece. I felt like this place just cares more about just getting people fed than the quality of the food and service they provide for customers. Teharu has been my spot for a sushi fix for about three years now. Every time I go here the sushi just gets better and better! Teharu greets you with a large conveyor belt filled with a colorful variety of sushi. From California rolls, to tuna, to las vegas, to edamame--teharu sushi has it all and all of it is fresh! They have several staff in the center of the conveyor belt preparing new sushi every few minutes! If you see something on the menu that you haven't seen come acrosd the conveyor belt they can make it for you. I love that their plates are color codded so you can easily see how much each plate is and how much money you are spending--which probably is not much. I usually spend no more than $10- $12 and I am stuffed. But, be warned sushi does not last in your stomach long, so be prepared to take some take out with you! They have a full menu filled with not only sishi, but a variety of teriyaki and rice dishes. This will continue to be my go to sushi spot whenever I am in AZ!!! read more

I've been coming to Teharu off-and-on for a few years now. The price, the K-pop, and the cool conveyor belt sushi keeps me interested but that's all the perks of the establishment. The quality of Teharu isn't exactly the freshest and the portions keeps getting smaller and smaller. But for the cheap price, what can you really expect? Service is usually lacking and slow but I blame management. They have such a big staff size for the dinner rush but the workers are just everywhere! This is by far not my favorite place for sushi but it's cheap eats for those days when you splurged on a new designer purse or a new pair of shoes. read more

Upon entering the restaurant you'll notice only the tables on the right 1/2 of the dining room are used....I think the 2nd conveyor belt is broken so they don't seat the other side of the room. We were able to get a table immediately however by the time we left there were 20+ people waiting. As for the food...inexpensive, but very unimpressive. The sushi is not cut with much skill (large chunks, uneven slices). There was actually a bone in my salmon (traditional sushi, not a roll). My buddy ordered yellow tail (not available on the conveyor belt)...they brought out a plate with 4 huge chunks, each more than 2 inches thick...almost too large for him to eat, and there were still signs of skin on the fish. Four rolls (Shaggy Dog, Dragon, Baked Scallop, Soft Shell Crab) and a squid salad for $12.75. What a steal. Teharu prices are super affordable (dirt cheat, for lack of better terms) compared to your average sushi restaurant. I prefer Teharu over Eastwind in DT Chandler, which offers the same concept. If you're dining in, you will get to experience the conveyor belt. It's a neat concept until you realize that the same plates have been making the same rotation so maybe it's not so fresh.. but you can't ask for too much when you're paying $4 max on a plate. I enjoyed dining here. While the restaurant keeps busy and the wait can go on and on, the conveyor belt means immediate orders arrive instantly at your table. But, yeah, people came in groups! I was surprised at the number of large parties, which is just as well. Teharu, in addition to sushi bar seating, is mostly table and booth seating. As for the food, I found that the fish was fresh and the rice was decent. My favorites were the mackerel and salmon nigiri. But, sadly, I did not overly enjoy the rolls. They were not bland, but they also were not overly flavorful. Also, the wine selection is very short and also not very interesting. But, in all, a very good price for dinner. read more

But the servers are so lazy the only way you could get worse service is to have a 4 year old child who doesn't speak your language try and help you. My granddaughters love this food. This revolving sushi bar has been a go to for us for cheap sushi. I wouldn't go as far to say it's great, but the portion size fills you up for far less than even supermarket sushi. We've eaten in the restaurant a few times, but primarily we choose to do take out. Be prepared to wait for your order, even if there is no one else waiting for their take out orders, this restaurant DOES NOT prioritize. The last 3 times I arrived to pick up order, I waited in excess of 10/15 minutes to pay for order. I can understand if restaurant is busy, or if this happens once or twice, but it has been the last consecutive times that we have placed orders here, it is not due to lack of staff to take payment, they simply ignore take out orders in favor of dine in guests. We had to go to the waitress stand to get our own silverware for our 4 year old and menu for appetizers and drinks, which we even were able to order from the menu since we weren't ever served. Okay, so I feel obligated to update my rating. This just is not the same as what it once was. All in all we don't plan on coming back anymore. When we got there we really didn't feel comfortable eating the plates off the belt so we ordered direct. It was made surprisingly quickly and what we got was rushed. The cuts were not good and rather sloppy. Everything was sort of thrown at us too. The chef seemed uninterested in really serving us so she put it on the belt leaving us to quickly try to grab them before they were out of reach. And honestly we felt like they didn't care. We honestly left a little concerned we might need to go to the hospital. The weirdest thing was they were blasting Mexican music too. I don't know what it is, but there is something really unsettling about a sushi restaurant playing Mexican music. If we hear they turned it around we will be back. But not until then. read more

Tonight was the worst experience I think I've ever experienced ever. Just walking In should've been red flags. They were blaring Mexican music and all the chefs were Mexican. A total different ambiance not to be experienced at a Japanese sushi place. Coming in we were ignored on getting seated and yet there were plenty of open spots. I LOVE this place. No, you are not going to receive the same selection and creativity that you receive when paying $20 a roll and the sushi places down the street, but you will receive a great time, quick service and fresh ingredients with the chance to try dozens of different rolls, while paying just a couple of dollars to try each. Is it a romantic setting, no, it's a lively setting, great for families-with a ton of alternatives to keep the kids happy. If you are a diehard non sushi fan, they do have a rarely used, full menus for fried rice as well as a dozen other 'cooked' Japanese options.(yes, you need to ask for the menu). Don't skip the Haru sushi (crab salad wrapped in a slice of tuna), or the 'grilled' salmon (very lately grilled fresh salmon over sushi rice)- both you will probably need to request from your waiter-as they both go quick, when they hit the belt. read more

My husband and I were there last week and the service was the worst we have ever experienced ever in any restaurant. We are not complainers at all, but the service was unacceptable, the food was good and prices are good, reason I am giving 1 star. I honestly, would not come back . We felt very uncomfortable and felt like the waitress (mid-age Asian lady ) acted like we were inconveniencing her. The experience was horrible. We have been there many times, specially around 5pm on Tuesdays or Thursdays and every time we are served by the hispanic ladies we had such a great experiences. They are always on top of everything , making sure we are taking care of, very nice, and friendly. Our entire experience : We waited for at least 10 minutes after we arrived, and we were not acknowledge at all. There was no one before us, and the restaurant was not even a 1/4 full. When I asked the Asian mid age lady if we can be sat on a table, she said: "Wait", not even "I will have a table ready for you or thank you for your wait," nothing. Just "Wait". Very rude. After we were sat , took her another 10 minutes to come back with waters . We literally had to ask for everything, napkins, etc. My husband asked for more huasabi while I was in the restroom. As I was walking back to the table , the Asian Lady aproveched me and gave me the huasabi to take it to my table. I am sorry, but she is the waitress, she needs to take the food, huasabi and everything else to the table, not giving it to the customer. There were other two tables around us and the waitress ( Asian lady) kept going back and forth to the other tables and totally ignored us. Finally, my husband decided to ask her for refills on waters, which we were out for a while. She told him: " I am on a break". Just "wow". At that point my husband said to me : "We need to leave." I like Teharu but you never know if most of the food has been sitting out for awhile or not so you have to really inspect it before you take it of the belt. The times that the food was sitting out for too long I just ordered fresh sushi that wasn't on the conveyor belt like the teharu roll and the shaggy dog roll. I have never had a bad rainbow roll from there fortunately. The times I've went there when I had no issue with the food the sushi was great! Gyozas are perfect if they're still warm. I can't think of what other rolls I get besides the California roll and crunch roll but I'm satisfied with the sushi I pick out. read more

This place will be a conterversial stop if you are taking family or friends. You will love it or hate it. Chances are though, if you are paying the bill you will love it! Sushi can be a very expensive venture and this place is cheap and tasty. All the food is pre-made by Mexican women who are more factory workers then sushi chefs. The pre-made plates are rotated on a convayer belt, and you grab plate by plate. Each plate is 1 to 3 dollars. That being said, stick to lunch and dinner times as sushi seems to sit out for hours here during off hours. Keeping prices low for consumer is the bottom line here. A plate of gyoza can run a person 6 bucks at other places while it's only 2 here, and it does still taste good. But, the restaurant itself is rough and a bit rundown, staff also seem pretty tired as they are always on the move and probably deserve way more money. I greatly enjoy this place tho, as I can scratch my sushi itch without blowing the bank. read more

Walked into the restaurant around 745 and put our name down for 3 people. I sat and waited for 45mins seeing other people being sat.. I asked why wasnt my name called... Her response was its your responsibility, you should have asked. This was the start of our visit.. When we finally were sat down the food was warm and in an unhealthy way. Along with no one knowing whats going on between under trained staff to poor organization. That gets into the next step where the restaurant allowed 1 party to consume more than 45% of the sitting area leaving everyone else to wait for a spot because what they didnt take in tables they took in chairs... I was excited to try this place but now im just afraid i might get sick. Do your self a favor and fresher food elsewhere with a hell of a lot better service. This is our go to sushi spot and have a weekly date night here prior to COVID. Fortunately they have been doing takeout orders during last 8 months, so our sushi fix has been steady and strong! I absolutely love this place and the staff is incredible. They have a revolving sushi bar, from appetizers to sushi rolls and cheesecake. When this place first opened about 15 years ago, we were glad to find a decent kentai sushi restaurant in our area. Unfortunately, the food and experience over the next couple of years declined significantly and we stopped going there. I recently suggested to a friend that we go there for a quick bite after an event nearby. What a mistake! The food quality sucked and there was way too much on the track considering we were among the last customers of the evening. The plates looked like the items were haphazardly thrown on the plates, the sashimi slices were inconsistent in size, shape, and thickness, and much of the sushi was warm! We went in and there was one person ahead of us which got sat a table of five and then we were next in line alone for five minutes before another family of five came in. We had requested a table instead of sitting at the bar because I have high anxiety and didn't wanna be squished up right next to strangers. Okay, so I have to admit, I wasn't the biggest fan of Teharu. Being a new-ish sushi eater {and not super daring} I found the quality, fishiness, and crazy use of mayo and crunchy toppings to not be appealing. However, i'm a total believer that you get what you pay for hence the 3 stars. When you order a 4-piece sushi roll that is under $1.50, the quality should be questioned. I saw so many rolls go around and around their tracks that weren't getting eaten, therefore, just sitting out in the open {with lids for germ protection} and not refrigerated. With the mayo, fish, etc. on the rolls this made me so nervous! How it works: They have a variety of different sushi, rolls, edamame, cucumber salad, desserts, drinks, pot stickers, etc. rotating around a huge bar-type setup. Each item is on a colored plate and the color associates it with the price. The prices were $1, $1.50, and $2 depending on which plates you grab. Then, at the end the waitresses add up your plates to determine your bill. While service is extremely quick because you simply just grab what you want, I believe that as a result, the freshness goes out the window. Out of the few rolls that I tried, they were all pretty fishy and warm. My pet peeve is warm sushi! It has gotta be COLD! I ended up sticking with the cucumber salad, pot stickers, and edamame to play it safe. The scariest part for me was that some of the items literally looked like plastic. The crab was 100% artificial and looked that way. Yikes, it just freaked me out. That said, I won't be back but if you aren't super picky about the quality of your seafood/sushi and want a quick, cheap sushi fix, I can see how Teharu could be a great place to go. read more

We've eaten here before covid, but I was craving sushi tonight so we decided to call for take out around 8:30PM. Yelp says they close at 10PM, so we figured it was still open. I called multiple times but the line was busy. We figured they were taking another order and so we decided to just drive there since its about 10 minutes away. We get there at 8:48PM, walk in and no one acknowledged us. So my boyfriend asks "Do you guys do take out" and the lady clearly heard him but just walked away. So we walked to the register and five minutes later the lady walked by again and we said "Hello?" and she said "one minute please" kind of rudely and so we waited another 5 minutes... having been there for 10 minutes already she finally walks up to take our order. So when she finally came up the very first thing she said in a sharp way "For future, place your order before 8:30" and so we were confused, and asked "well okay, but it says online you guys close at 10?" And she said "Normally, but not tonight". Seemed super off and rude, and made us wait to tell us this. So my boyfriend asked "OK, so next time... is this the right place to order to go?" - the place is set up strangely so there's not really a host just a cash register in the back corner of the room. She replied with "no, what do you want to order". At that point it was too difficult to understand her and she was being clearly rude, so my boyfriend says "Well nothing now, and for future reference try not to be so rude."
