We were quite surprised to see that this place not only has a regular menu, but is a revolving sushi bar as well. The selection is relatively small and you won't have the larger selection like you might find at another revolving sushi; however, the price is here are outstanding. If you're in the mood for sushi (or are feeding a teenage boy) but don't want to spend a lot of money, this is your place! Each plate is $2.50 regardless of what's on it. The sushi here was decent quality and as Bob Barker and Drew Carey would say, The Price is Right at $2.50 a plate. Portions were fair and everything on the conveyor belt tasted good for the price. I liked the variety of items too, which varied from nigiri and rolls to deep fried items such as a crispy potato wrapped shrimp tempura and mozzarella balls. My husband had the oyako bowl and it wasn't very good. The chicken was overcooked and rubbery. and when I tried a bite the chicken had a bit of a funky taste to it and wasn't very pleasant to chew. It doesn't seem like anyone had checked the bathrooms recently since there was no toilet paper and there was just the barest amount of soap left. The seat also wasn't super clean so it was a good thing I had some wipes with me. I was extremely disappointed with how Eastwind Sushi and Grill treated my mom when she went in to ask to use the restroom. Regardless of whether someone is a paying customer, you never know what they might be going through, and a little kindness can go a long way. Instead of offering her even basic courtesy, she was met with unnecessary attitude. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially in a service-oriented industry. Every person walking through the door is a potential customer, and treating someone with respect and compassion should always be the standard. We'll think twice before ever dining here, as this experience left a very negative impression. A small moment of understanding could have turned this into a much different story. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and encourages staff (the two hosts) to treat everyone with the dignity they deserve. read more

My friend and I rolled into Eastwind Sushi and Grill for a weekday lunch. We were intrigued by the revolving sushi. The place wasn't very busy. We were greeted and seated right away by the friendly staff. We sat by the revolving sushi bar and immediately started pulling plates that we were interested in. We gathered several plates containing raw sushi, cooked sushi, edamame, etc. The plates were only $2.50 each and came with two to three decent-size rolls. It's a fantastic deal. However, there wasn't much of a variety on the conveyor belt; less than ten options. We ended up with pretty much two of each. Unfortunately, none of the rolls stood out to us. You do have the option of ordering from the menu. Perhaps the sushi from their menu would have been better. So far I've been here 3 or 4 times in the 2 months since I've moved to Chandler. It's one of my favorite new spots that I happened to stumble upon. The plates are $2.50 so already a steal and you can mostly seat yourself if you're gonna be by the revolving bar. It's honestly one of the quickest services I've had somewhere, we can usually sit down and be out 30 minutes later. The ambiance is super chill, there's usually 2 or 3 servers waiting to take drink orders (and sauce orders for me). Our server was great. They had more options on the conveyor belt after we already ate so I'd wait til closer to 5:30 to go for dinner. Each plate had 2-3 pieces of sushi and each plate costs $2.50. I loved being able to try different rolls. My favorites were the Climax and New York. There was also edamame, spring rolls, dumplings and other appetizers on the conveyor belt. It was busy for a Friday night in downtown Chandler, but the staff was really great about getting my party of 5 seated at the revolving bar. The sushi was great quality. Fresh and great flavors. We typically go to Teharu and this place has way better sushi. Fewer options, but then the revolving bar is also smaller than Teharu. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and compared to other similar places. I love sushi and this place is definitely one of the better sushi places in the East valley. The sushi here is of such poor quality that you may wish you had chosen to spend the evening BASE jumping. Sushi rice was falling apart, sashimi had a spoiled taste. Miso soup was inedible, but it was served hot. Guest had a salad that was sent back. Service was just as bad as the food. Upon entering, most open dining areas had dirty plates strewn about. With most conveyor belt sushi, the quality it's not the best (simply put) but Eastwind does a great job at providing a satisfying sushi fix! There's a central conveyor belt that goes directly down the center of the restaurant. There's bar dining that wraps around the conveyor belt. Few tables and bench/booth seating covered both sides of the walls. There's also a bar and bathroom in the back of the restaurant. Service is very friendly and attentive. Helped provide several suggestions and cleared up questions regarding the calamari. In terms of conveyor belt sushi options, choices can be somewhat limited. In the east valley, There's big sushi in Chandler, and also Teharu sushi in tempe. (Rip Seksun sushi which is now Yama Sushi House) It's a fun and very casual dining experience. To come here with friends and family is always a good time. It's also good spot to set up and do homework or work. Although they don't have Wi-Fi here. Had date night here on a Friday and the revolving sushi area was full. We weren't there for sushi so we sat at a table. The server quickly came on over and filled our cups with water. She dropped off the menu and said she'd be back. The menu is distinctive and has a lot of different options. I decided to try out their chicken katsu and the spicy dumpling soup. My friend had the chicken teriyaki bowl. The chicken teriyaki bowl was decently sized and they accompanied it with white rice and broccoli. My chicken katsu was delicious and so was the salad that it came with. The spicy dumpling soup was welll uhh spicy!! It was helllllla spicy! The dumplings were delicious though! Worst sushi place ever! My family and I came here for lunch today. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There wasn't a single person when we walked in. You can get sick eating warm fish and seafood that's been sitting there for hours. We gave it a try, but honestly we should have walked out. We tried a variety, but the dishes looked over sauced and the flavor was off and the salmon fish was warm. My husband decided to order sukiyaki, which he said was tasteless and usually the meat is thinly sliced not like carne asada. The so called Japanese place is run by hispanic people who barely speak English. The food is the worst and it ended up being pricey. Also, the hispanic girls are literally standing behind us while we eat while the entire restaurant was empty, super weird and uncomfortable. Please give your customers space and not stare them down. Great value! The bento box is $12 and has a combo of everything (steak, katsu chicken, salmon, teriyaki chicken and tempura). Staff are friendly, wonderful and attentive. The reason for a 4-star is the food takes too long to come out when they are not that busy. I like the fact that they did a great job of social distancing and wearing masks. First impression: Loud. They crank the music. After listening a few minutes it was not English. Maybe Japanese top 40 music? Probably appropriate. They have one of those conveyor belts for the sushi if you sit at the bar. We took a table and ordered off the menu. We both got bento boxes. First came the miso soup. It had a strong flavor, and was salty. Not my favorite. The chicken Katsu in the bento was pretty good. The teriyaki chicken had a sort of charred taste to it. I didn't really like it. The "steak" strips were almost flavorless. Yes, they tasted like beef but very weakly. Kinda strange. I didn't try the cucumber salad stuff. My wife likes that sort of thing so I gave it to her. She seemed to like it. I did eat the sushi pieces that were included. Very little flavor there also. The calamari salad was a pile of calamari on top of a pile of leaves (spinach, I think). The calamari was cooked properly, not too tough or chewy, and the flavor was fine. So overall: underwhelming. Not bad, but nothing to get excited about either. Love this place, I am glad we drove down a little further and found it. The concept of a rotating sushi bar is awesome, just pick up a plate and eat. All the sushi is $2 a plate and is labeled before so you know which is what you're eating. It's not a huge place so if the bar area is full which is where you want to sit, they do have tables for you to eat at. One of the best revolving sushi restaurant in town. I have been coming here for lunch and dinner and I just can't get enough! It's $2 per plate and that is quite a deal! Tip: Best to come at 11am (during the weekdays) when they open because you get first dibs on the sushi plates. There is a high school nearby and there are alot of students who come in during lunch. The place gets packed around 12 ish. It also gets busy in the evening on weekends so hopefully you'll get some seats at the bar because the only thing though is that if you sit at the table because there is no more available seats at the bar and you want to get the $2 plates you have to excuse yourself from the people sitting at the bar for grabbing yourself some food. And its kind of awkward at times because the rotation is slow so you just gotta stand there waiting for the plate you want. The service is great except for one day I had to wait awhile for the waitress to refill my water. She noticed my cup was empty and asked me "Would you like some more water?" and I replied 'Yes please'. I was at lunch with my friend when it was just me and her and another customer in the restaurant (so not really that busy) and I waited to get a refill but she ended up talking to her coworker by the register. I wanted to get up but I was comfortable sitting and eating and ended up making the slurping noise trying to get water from the melted ice in my cup that my friend felt bad and offered me hers. My friend stared both of them down because she didn't want to get up either. Both of the servers were busy talking about something (in spanish). The waiter walked up to the guy and asked him if he wanted a refill but he said he was ok. The guy had half a glass. No one came for us on the other side of the bar until the waiter came to ask how we were doing- 40 minutes later. He finally gave me a refill and I joked to my friend- 'The food is no longer clogged up'. There is also (throwback) music playing in the background but its quite too loud for my ears. I sometimes have to yell to whoever I'm out with and that person has to yell back to me and its always the part when the music is almost over that people nearby hear the funniest conversations. One time I went to dinner with a friend of mine and he was talking about his Tinder date. Right when one of the songs was over, he yelled to me- "This girl I swiped right to looks like a dude. I think she has a (body part not mentioned). Everyone was staring. I pretended I didn't hear him and I just laughed and continued eating. I'm glad another song played.
