This shop is the best shop I have been with. I have went to this shop for many years and they have been taking care of my every time. They are diligent, friendly, and show respect to the customers. So I had to change this from 5 stars to 1 because of a recent experience I had. My check engine light came on, so of course I came to JBC where I always go. Well it turns out it's the catalytic converter. Not good. So the guy tells me it's going to be $1,000. Being a college student, that floored me so I called my mom to get her input. We did some research and apparently there is an 8 year/80,000 mile warranty (federal law) on all vehicles for emissions. The catalytic converter is covered here. So they were going to charge me for something that was covered under warranty. Strike one. Strike two was that catalytic converters go anywhere from $200-$500 so the markup for this was absolutely ridiculous. It's only 1 hour worth of work. It should not take a grand for something I can buy for 1/5 the price. Strike three was the worst of all. My mom called her very trusted manager Lori at the Nixa JBC to get her opinion on all of this and JBC DOESN'T EVEN DO CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. They were going to charge me $1,000 for what? They're a rip off and I will NEVER take my car back again. They have uneducated, unethical employees that do not care about the wellbeing of their customers. I took my car to the dealer and it was under warranty. I needed some other work done that I believe would have been much more expensive at JBC and I got a loaner vehicle because the work is going to take a few days. Do not go to JBC. read more

Where to start. Came in with a nail in my tire tread. JBC was fraudulently misrepresenting to another customer that the nail was in her sidewalk (it wasn't). Then overheard the employee bragging about his tire sales. They "fixed" my tire, but it started leaking several hours later. Took it to a real mechanic, who said they almost had it, lol. Manager refused to provide a refund. And, scene. Go literally anywhere else. read more

I went to JBC to get an oil change because there was a coupon for a $14.99 oil change. Instead, when I got back, not only did they do an oil change, but also a brake fluid flush ($69.99) and a four wheel alignment ($64.99). I was pretty upset with that but then on top of that, the next day, my car temperature gauge went very high and stayed high. Went back to JBC and they said I needed a radiator hose replacement, hose clamps, radiator flush, and thermostat for $427.86. This was very suspicious because I just had my radiator replaced a number of months ago at Sears and it was fine. I obviously did NOT let them touch my car again and drove home. On the way home, the temperature gauge was normal...never went high again. I don't know what happened...whether they flipped something so I would come back but regardless, will go elsewhere to make sure everything is ok. I will never be going to these people again. If you go here, make sure to tell them up front and you only want a certain thing done and NOTHING MORE! Otherwise they will do a number of other things so they can charge you more. This review is specifically directed at the Republic Road location. This place used to be run by someone who always took care of me when I would come in for tires or brakes. He knew all of the ropes when it came to fleet managed vehicles. He got me in and out quickly, and dealt with all of the headaches associated with leased vehicles. Well, for whatever reason, he is gone and in the past year I have witnessed a "revolving door" of counter personnel the times I have been in (3 different cars). Each visit, it seems that I am the one training the counter personnel. The "business model" has apparently evolved from taking care of the customer to a strategy depending more on "up selling" to "optimize profitability" at the expense of the customer's real needs. Think Jiffy Lube for tires and shocks..... It took all afternoon to get 4 tires mounted, and this had nothing to do with the guy out in the bay doing the actual work. read more

Wowwwww the reviews for this place are not at all what I experienced for myself. We drove from Washington state to Missouri and when we hit South Dakota, the AC stopped working and it was 87+ degrees outside. I managed well enough but I had my cats with me so we ended up putting them in the moving truck where the AC worked. Once we finally got to Springfield, we moved all of our stuff in and I made an appointment with JBC for the next day. My mom's boyfriend had looked at the car and determined it wasn't a freon problem. So when I went into JBC I told them what he told me--not a freon problem but I have no idea. Turns out, there was absolutely no freon in my car because there were two holes in the AC condenser. I was given the price quote ($600) which had me close to tears. I looked up every piece on my phone to compare prices and they were not even ripping me off. The only way it could've been cheaper is if they got their parts from PartsGeek.com but as far as retail goes, they were charging fairly. I had a million questions and they answered all of them for me without ever sounding annoyed. They remained friendly during my 3-hour stay in the waiting area. I even went back for my safety inspection a couple weeks ago and I was promised that I wouldn't be there for 3 hours again which was a nice touch since I didn't even bring it up. When I called to ask how long it would take to do an oil change I was told 45 minutes. I have been here for an hour and 20 minutes and they are still not finished. The place is not crowded. Right now I am the only one here. I have not had anyone come out to check on me or give me an update as to why it is taking so long. Poor customer service and long wait times. Not very happy. I scheduled this oil change around other appointments I had for the day and now my schedule is completely messed up. A more accurate time would have been nice. The lady that was here before me said the exact same thing. She was told 45 minutes and she was here for an hour and a half. When I went up to pay for my oil change, which should have been about six dollars after a coupon I was using, I explained to the man in charge that I was a little upset that the oil change took twice as long as I was told. He apologized and said that he was training a new girl and she gave me the wrong timing on the oil change. He went ahead and credited the rest of my bill so I did not pay for my oil change. I thought that his way of fixing this problem was acceptable and told him I very much appreciated it. He was friendly and polite. So would probably use their services again but would definitely be more conscientious to the timing. read more

I was visiting from out of town and during my traveling I got a huge screw stuck in one of my wheels. I was traveling alone and was needing to get home. I went to another auto shop but it was closed. I called and asked if there was any way I could get my tire looked at, despite being completely booked Matt, Scott, and their team were able to get my car in ASAP, look at, and change my tire within a hour. This is no joke. The location on East Sunshine replaced my power steering pump 5 times in one year! They kept saying it was a problem with the part, but I am very sure they took advantage of me. Not to mention other times I found out afterwards I was waaay overcharged. This place is a joke and has a management change at least once a year. After trying to up-sell me on over $700 worth of work that was not needed and continuing to give me the more expensive oil change after I said no, they didn't tighten the drain plug on the oil pan and blew the motor in my car. It cost me $300 to get it towed which the promised to reimburse me for (and still fighting over that a month later). I have called several times and keep getting the run around, asked to speak to the owner and was told the he is only in the office from 7:00-7:30 am and that they would have him contact me. Do not take your car here! I wish I would have seen the reviews on this page before taking mine. I took my car in for an inspection, knowing that my car had been shaking badly and that it probably needed new tires. Well they take it in and fail it for inspection. I was told I had 2 bad ball joints and a rear wheel master cylinder that was leaking. They say we can do new tires as well, but those can wait if needed. They give me an estimate for a little less than $400. Okay not too bad, but way more than I was hoping for. Take the estimate home to think about what I need to do and consult my mom who has been in the car business for 30+ years. She tells me that's not a bad price and if I need to do it, go for it. So, I call them back. I get told that they made a mistake on my estimate. They forgot to put one of the ball joints on there and it's actually going to be $600+. At this point I'm thinking, you've got to be kidding me. Well fast forward a couple of weeks. I ended up just buying a new car, because my car was old and I was tired of putting money into it. I end up selling it to my boyfriend who will fix it. He takes it to a family friend who is a great mechanic. TURNS OUT there's only one ball joint that's bad, and on the other side, it's a bad tie rod. Not the worst part. One of the tires was so worn down, there were wires sticking out of it. It could have blown at any moment. And they didn't say I needed tires AT ALL. That is dangerous! Tires should have been the most urgent thing to fix. The car had been driven twice since leaving that shop, so no way it could have happened after. These people have no idea what they are talking about and clearly don't have people's safety in mind. Stay away! Edit: Also found out the wheel cylinder was not leaking at all. But, since it seems I can't reply to responses I will add my response here. I sincerely hope you aren't trying to discredit this review by saying you "have no record of me getting an inspection there." It was in November so it wasn't exactly recent. We just recently got it looked at by someone else, which is why I am just now writing my review. First experience with JBC ever was a few weeks ago at the location on Kearney. The manager, Tim, was wonderful. Excellent source of knowledge, willing to teach me a couple of things (I'm a female currently in an auto tech program), and he was PERSONABLE! They did a great job with my "new car" that I purchased. So I thought, "Hey!! There's a JBC on Republic right by my house! I'll just save myself a trip." WRONG Day 1: I tell them I'm leaking coolant and I've got an oil drip - please diagnose. The man I assume to be the manager (glasses, blonde/strawberry blonde hair) comes to sit with me and proceeds to ask me when I last had the cooling system checked. I told him I'd have to check my CarFax to know but the previous owner was very meticulous. He shrugged that statement off and told me I'd need a new lower hose and radiator totaling $560. HOLY BALLS NO. I wasn't buying his whole needing a radiator gig. I asked if I could buy my parts elsewhere since they up-charge and he was IMMEDIATELY defensive. "That's a good price." $230? Really? For a radiator? And you wanna charge me HOW LONG in labor? Um no. I told him I couldn't afford the service *lies* and I proceed to wait at the counter for my vehicle. While up there, he's whispering to his new hire (I assume) that situations like mine are no charge but if someone comes in with a check engine light, it's an immediate $80. Remember that - $80 for a check engine light. That night I replaced my lower hose, radiator (just to be safe) and thermostat (since I was under there) and test the car. All is well except there's no vacuum to pull fluid back out of the overflow to the radiator when it cooled. Must be a leak - do I wanna mess with it? No - no time. Plus he said CarFax is junk because shops don't always report. Well buddy, I've got 6 pages of detailed maintenance that is about every 3 months and includes the parts replaced. So don't challenge me on my CarFax for this car. Day 2: Same manager is working the counter by himself. I told him I'd been in and changed the parts he'd recommended yesterday (which I'm sure chapped his a**) but I've got a vacuum leak somewhere. He didn't get what I was telling him so I repeated myself. He told me he couldn't do anything for me. Wtf?? You work on cars right...I've got $400 in my pocket. I told him I was going to pay and he said that since I'd done it that there's no telling what I messed up (maybe it's because I'm a woman *gasp*) so it was gonna be a MINIMUM of $80 for an hour of labor and diagnosis. So wait - you're charging people $80 to pop a little scan tool in the car to check the service light? That doesn't take an hour. ANYWAY!! He was quite rude to me and said they'd have to start from scratch to determine what's wrong with the car since I'd been working on it. Would his response have been different had I said another shop did it or not even mention what was done? read more

I have used JBC a number of times for many different things now and they are great. Every thing from fixing a flat tire to changing my breaks has been done very quickly at a great price. A couple of very negative points about my experience...First, they work with scammers (door to door sales people) who lie about products and promotions to get you to buy what appears to be maintenance packages, only to find out what they sold was garbage...I was promised that if I pre-paid for 4 oil changes I would get a 5th for free as well as some free diagnostic services as an incentive...This turned out to be a complete lie. Now, on the surface it may not be fair to tie lies from sales people to the company providing the service since they are different companies, but they are working with them to sell this crap. It added to my frustration when the person at JBC brushed me aside and said there wasn't anything they could do to help, even though this was THEIR product being sold. Aside from the negative initial impression, they were supposed to do a complete diagnostic check on my car to check fluids, etc, but when my car was ready the person at the desk didn't want to tell me anything. When I asked about it the lady said something like, "Oh, everything was fine except the normal maintenance stuff." I asked what that meant and if there was a list or anything that could see so I know what that meant, and she acted annoyed... She actually had a printed list of items with service prices quoted, but she didn't show it to me at first, and when I asked for one, she wouldn't give it to me ( if it wasn't for me what the heck was she going to do with it?!?! ).. I had to push to get my own copy so I could at least figure out the order to get the services done based on budgeting and how critical each was... The manager did text me later that night to thank me for my business, which was nice, but it felt too late by that point to matter. read more

I took a 2009 GMC Acadia in for a second opinion on repair estimates after receiving a $3500 repair estimate from the Thompsons GMC dealership. After three days I received a call that the vehicle was done. I thought that was strange because I hadn't authorized any repairs. JBC informs me that the car computer needed to be updated and that they had done it and the bill would be $250. This is way different than the estimate from the dealership so I am a little skeptical that a "computer update" solved $3500 worth of problems estimated by the dealership. Also, the dealership never mentioned anything about the car's computer needing to be updated. JBC said the problem I had brought it in for was covered by a recall and Thompsons would fix it for free. I had just come from Thompsons and knew it was not a recall repair that Thompsons would fix for free. JBC handed me a car with the same problem I had brought it in for and a bill for $250 for a "computer update". I told JBC I never authorized anyone to perform a computer update. The woman I was speaking with offered to take $155 off of the computer update charge which I accepted. I went in to pick up my still broken car and pay the remaining $95. A man behind the counter runs my credit card for $95, then he hands me the receipt and tells me they only want customers that will pay for repairs and I'm not welcome back. To summarize my experience, I spent $95 and was accused of being a deadbeat by the man behind the counter. My car has the same problem as when I dropped it off. Save yourself time and money and simply take your vehicle to another place for repairs. read more

One more bad review will probably not hurt JBC Tire because they have a long collection of them, but I had to do my part to warn consumers. Although their store front is fairly appealing, this has to be the worst place you could ever take your vehicle for any kind of repair or tire service! My 72 year old mother took her suv to this shop for tires after being told during a safety inspection that she needed them. They sold her two front tires. When we went to pick the suv up, it immediately made a grinding noise and was jerking before we ever made it out of the parking lot! We immediately pulled back into their garage and demanded they look at it. They kept her vehicle for over 2 weeks, claiming they did not know what was wrong with it. Without her permission, they took her car to several shops in town trying to get it fixed! They never had my mother's permission to do that or made her aware that they were doing that. Eventually, the owner, (Steve) offered to replace the transfer case. He failed to mention it was a salvage part until after it was on her car. And it didn't fix the issue anyway. I could go on for days about the dishonest and unethical decisions made by the owner of this shop, but bottom line, they left my mother with a vehicle that she could no longer depend on after being in his shop. And while always claiming he wanted to do the "right thing" ...... never did. Left her with bill totaling approx. $1,000 to have a honest mechanic fix the issues that his shop messed up. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT USE THIS SHOP, even for something as simple as two front tires. read more

Taking a break from our cross country trip. I had taken our vehicle in for a wheel bearing I could hear was becoming an issue. I knew what needed to be done and which side needed repaired/replaced. I also knew the acceptable cost it SHOULD be for the service and part. Got an almost accurate diagnosis and was given the price to replace both sides ( only REALLY needed one side). Knowing I only needed one side repaired, I was quoted the approximate price and agreed to the service. Service was done relatively quick and was texted when it was finished. The price came out less than quoted thanks to an online coupon. Car issue was solved, Josh was polite, though I suspect there was a little bit of upselling thrown in there with the initial diagnosis, which I get, its the job. All in all the customer service was fine, the cost of my particular repair was close to what I expected (reasonable)and I have no complaints regarding my experience. Took my jeep in to get a tire balanced, and they said they would get me right in. It took 45 minutes to get one tire balanced. When I left, the jeep drove exactly the same way It did as when I brought it in. I called back and had to ask them if it was actually out of balance or not. They said yes it was and that was it. Told them it drove the same and the reply was "oh. ". I would not do business with this service again, there are too many options in town to choose from. I came here to have a flat tire repaired. When the tire was fixed, I got into my vehicle and noticed the dash had been cracked. It was not that way when I arrived at the shop. When I brought it to their attention, they proceeded to call me a liar. I got ahold of the owner of the business and he has refused to repair the cracked dash. Worst experience EVER. Lied about extra service that must be done. Second opinion revealed there was nothing wrong.

Made an appointment to have tires mounted and balanced at 9. Got there, checked in only to be told they were slammed by walk ins and it would be a while. What's the point of making an appointment if they take walk ins before appts? Had wife come get me. Hadn't heard anything by 1130 so I called. They said it was done so went to get it. Made the mistake of not checking lugs til I got home. I couldn't budge about half of them bc they were torqued down way too much on aluminum wheels. Never have had to go back to any tire store to have them loosen lugs. Drove back to the store. A woman working there said she could loosen them;). She tried all 4 on one wheel even bouncing on my X tire tool but none moved. They obviously didn't use a torque wrench as they are supposed to. Pressure was too high at 36 psi in all tires. Door sticker clearly states 30 ft, 29 rear. It was an odd, unpleasant, time consuming experience. I had 2 other sets of tires mounted at this same store over the last few yrs wo issue but that's how it's supposed to go. It's not rocket science. read more
