World Cup done wrong - We came here after the Egypt vs. Belgium World Cup game to grab a drink. After being in the sun all day, I wanted a glass of water and bartender said they weren't giving glasses of water, only bottles we could pay for. Let's be clear...I asked for plain old tap water. When I asked why, he said because of the World Cup. The bar was clearly aiming for a cash grab buy charging for water, which is pretty ridiculous and just poor taste. Night out on the town and wanted to get a few drinks after dinner and shoot the sh!t... I mean shoot pool. Looked all over the map for a place to hang and our handy dandy Yelp App pointed out that Temple Billiards might fit the bill. This place is relaxed with 6 tables in a funny arrangement on the bottom floor and I think one on the mezz area. In the evenings, if you're a Canuck like me, make sure you bring your ID. They check!!! First of all, I'm old as a dinosaur so I don't think they're checking my age but one time, I didn't have it and they would not let me into a bar/club. They liked my Platinum Card and my Social Media account so they asked me if I was a cop or a narc. Told them no - and I was provided admittance - weird. Anyway... just telling you, bring photo id. They have a downstairs bar/speakeasy thingy. They call it the Pharmacy or something - you figure it out, I'm not going to try. Like I said, 6 tables arranged in a somewhat weird way, a long bar with two cool dudes. Lots of sofas and chairs to relax in. Had a great night and made some local friends too. Big bummer, came here a month ago, really liked it, came after a sounder game wearing opposing team jersey, got in, some drunk sounders fan complained to the bouncer (who had checked our IDs & let us in) Bouncer came up and said we had to leave unless we changed our shirts. Been to a ton of MLS matches in cities wearing my kit. Never have a been asked to leave because of jersey, we came in, got in line for a drink and were kicked out. No interacting with anyone. Temple Billiards is such a great spot to grab drinks and play pool! We came here for the first time last night and had such a fun time. There's six pool tables in the main bar area and one pool table upstairs. Prices aren't bad at all. Lots of space here too with a lot of seating! Visited Temple Billiards on a Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed, though it was warmer inside than I expected, even with two fans running. The pool tables were reasonably priced at just $5 an hour, which was a nice surprise. I'm not sure if that's a special Sunday rate, but it made for an affordable afternoon. I needed to find street parking, which luckily was free on Sunday, making the visit even more convenient. I had never played pool before coming to this bar. There is an entire floor of pool tables, in addition to a loft for more private groups. We met some friends up in the loft and a group of us came down to order drinks. We were all on the younger side (new to the bar scene), and the bartender could tell. One of us tried to order a cocktail from the list and the bartender told him "you don't want that." He opted for an Old Fashioned instead, which was fun to watch as it was made. He later thought it was pretty strong so the bartender had pretty good judgement. I ordered the Aviation, which was sour and sweet. I am not usually a gin fan but it was a well-made classic and it looked pretty. The drinks were kind of expensive, about $14 each. We came back for some waters a bit later and the bartender was kind enough to bring two pitchers of ice water and glasses up to the loft. I would come back for another relaxed, judgement-free pool game and maybe try a beer. Extremely Rude Bartender (Bearded Man-Bun)!!! I've frequented Temple many times, and each visit before last night was fantastic. However, after the service we received downstairs, I'm unsure if I'll return. Upon entering Temple, we grabbed one drink upstairs before heading downstairs. Within five minutes of sitting in the basement couch area, a skinny male bartender with a beard and long hair (short on the sides, sporting some sort of a man-bun) told one of our group members he was "cut off" after drinking just one beer (a Coors Light...). The bartender hadn't even served us. Our friend returned to our group bewildered, as we assumed the bartender must've confused him for someone else. Moments later, the bartender approached our entire group and rudely announced that we wouldn't be served for the rest of the night. When we politely asked for an explanation, stating that we were all sober and the quietest group downstairs, he quickly shouted, "I DON'T NEED TO EXPLAIN MYSELF HERE," and dashed off to sit behind the bar. It was shocking and extremely unprofessional, especially considering he spent most of his time behind the bar on his phone, even while customers were in line! What kind of service is this??? Which is fine, but when you have time to play pool and not give any customer service, no water, no checking on me no asking of I'd like a refill, I realized this place is terrible customer service. Pretty chill spot to shoot some pool while downtown. If you're a avid shooter it's a good spot as long as it's not too busy with large parties looking to kill time before a night out. There is about 8 full sized 9 foot tables on the lower floor, with one more on the second level (which is situated like a private area). The tables are well maintained so no ripped felt or dead bumpers which is nice. They have scoring racks above each table as well. And for the few times that I've been there all the cues I've shot with have been straight as well. The only gripe I do have is when it gets pretty busy - most of the patrons there in the weekend evenings are not pool shooters, so they are crowded around every table, making it pretty difficult to shoot - they don't have any pool etiquette whatsoever but that's not the establishment's fault. Along the far wall there is a full bar with reasonably priced drinks and a small area that serves up personal sized pizza and a couple paninis. The food takes quite a bit to serve up but there's usually only two people manning the bar and food area. Its not amazing food by any means nor is it the cheapest eats but a nice quick bit to curb hunger. There is also a little speak easy like bar downstairs which I don't know if it considered another establishment which is pretty nice. More quiet than upstairs on a busy night, very unique mixed drink options and lounge style seating. I like the place for a chill night out, i'd come real early or after 10:30pm where it's a lot more quiet for you to actually be able to shoot pool. The 9 - 10:30 hour seems to make this place the place to be before a night out so it gets too crowded for my taste. read more

If you are a person of color you will be treated differently, me and my a few friends went with intentions of buying a few pitchers and hanging out a few hours. Majority of the pool tables where covered and closed. The ones that weren't covered and open where being occupied. When I asked if we could use a covered one, was given 3 different excuses why we couldn't. Yet random people who weren't of color were getting their balls and cues to play without any type of questioning or excuses. When we brought it to their attention, how unfair that was that we were getting singled out, the bartender gave us attitude, raised his voice and made us feel unwelcomed. I think it's kind of screwed up they only let you get these little tiny pizza pan pies that are like personal pies and me at for a couple bucks more they have these monstrous extra large pies but management doesn't want to do it because I don't want to keep pizza crust in the freezer I'm fine with that I really would give this place a five stars across-the-board I don't care that you know it's an old building in it it's it's just a great place to go to have beer and pizza but they needed stopped serving those tiny TV baby pizzas that's just stupid but one of the larger pizza I should be able to order one and not have to special order it with something I've heard dozens of people complaining that they can't get a full-size pizza I don't care with the manager said read more

Atmosphere is always relaxed. with a jukebox that always seems to play just what you wanted to hear. TVs everywhere you look. Top flight bartenders. This is a great place to play some pool. The atmosphere is laid back and casual. It's easy to spend a few hours shooting some stick and knocking back a few brews. You would be doing yourself a great disservice if you didn't try out any one of their Panini sandwiches. I really should hit Temple for lunch more often because you get to play pool free for a half hour with a purchase of a food item. My game would be better for it! Completely forgot to write a review about this place, but this little billiard hall in Pioneer Square is probably one of the most legitimate places to play pool in the downtown area. Though tables are limited, one upstairs and six on the ground floor, there always seems to be one available when we visit even during the times for happy hour. Pint glasses are fairly cheap at about three bucks a glass and the cost to play a game here is cheaper than other places at around six bucks during the day on weekdays and about eight to ten bucks for various evenings. Honestly, we have yet to visit another place in downtown that has a better atmosphere to play a game of billiards than down at Temple Billiards. Though we do not normally order food when we play a game, it has been almost customary to order a pizza since they are only about eight bucks and it is nice to have a few bites between shots. Our suggestion for potential patrons is to try to get the table located upstairs and order a pueblo pizza, which is basically a pizza of sausage and pepper jack cheese on a bed of spicy salsa, on a weekday. If you enjoy a relaxing game of pool, it will be hard to top the experience here that we have suggested above. Parking, however, may be a bit difficult to locate especially if you intend to visit during the evening when all of the nearby clubs and lounges are open. read more

This is a rock-solid little pool hall. Been meaning to check it out for years and years and finally got around to it. There are a few TVs, and there's a bar, but mostly there are a bunch of pool tables. There definitely must be a restroom, because the whole place, on a warm day, smells like a combination of skunky weed and urinal cakes. There's a downstairs, where I think they must have more tables. Upstairs, there are six. Each gets its own line of stones to score games of straight pool--they go up to 50. The tables themselves are clean and straight. Very fast bumpers and very fast felts. The sticks are straight, and you get new chalks with every rental. You put tables by the hour on your tab. Rates are fair, though I can't quote a number off the top of my head right now. All in all, this might or might not be one of the better pool halls in town. I imagine it is. It's not enough to make me forget the 211, but nothing will bring back that place. They certainly take care to cover all their bases. read more

We hung out down there for a few hours over some really high quality drinks and good conversation in some comfy chairs. After our drinks we went up to play pool. They also have panini and pizza on their menu, but do not have fries, instead tortilla chips in place. Pizza was the best. Their jukebox only has a limited selection of songs like 30; they did not have all the songs we were looking for.
