Everything about this coffee house was Perfect!! My coffee was made right when I ordered and it was delicious. The perfect blend of taste, art to my eyes, delicious froth and caffeine to help my day. We actually drove back the next day just to have another... passing by several nice coffee houses and going a couple miles out of the way. So on the second visit, it was Sunday late morning, and we had a short wait which was perfectly normal and not too long. Cute little shop that sells great coffee! I've heard quite a bit about this place from friends who attended UCD after I graduated. The shop itself is located in a prime spot downtown next to a Poke Shop by Bistro 33. There's ample seating and tables for people to stay and study/work. I got the nitro cold brew and it was one of the best cold brews I've ever had. It was smooth with a nice flavor, almost stout like. The barista was really nice and explained about the beans and offered suggestions should I come back. He really seemed to know his stuff! Of course, they have your regular coffees, lattes, teas and the sort. The baristas know latte art too! If you're hungry, they have small pastries for sale as well. Overall, a nice place for coffee. Definitely a step above your regular Starbucks. Good quality coffee with great baristas makes this place a go-to for coffee in the area. read more

This is a really nice cafe in Davis. There are a handful of cafes in Davis that still look dusty and gross. It's refreshing to be in a cafe like Temple. I've been to their Sacramento location a couple years back. I got an iced tea the first time and a latte another time which was delicious. I really appreciate how early they open! This is the super sophisticated coffee spot right kinda sorta nearly in the downtown davis. Parking is street only which is a jekyll and hyde situation. Most mornings is easy, the afternoons start to get tight and in the late afternoons/evenings can be extremely difficult. Also note that the street parking while free, is time limited. If you plan to be here for more then a couple of hours have a plan to move thy vehicle or deal with the ticket. This is a modern large space with lots of light wood and natural lighting. Even though this is large space with lots of seating it will be packed when you arrive. The good news is that if the inside is full there will be a spot outside. The bad news is that the outside seating can be chilly and sometimes that's the only seating available. There will be lines at times as this is a really really popular spot. Sometimes it moves fast sometimes not but the service here is always spot on. the coffee is premuim. If you can afford it, this is a great spot for nitro, cappuchino, latte, etc. I'd recommend them over the plain cuppas with the caveat that you can get into the six seven dollar range with those , on choices made, which seems rather a lot for coffee even if it is perfect. I love Temple Coffee! They have a beautiful layout and the most friendly staff members! I love their Kyoto slow drip coffee. Also, one of the staff members recommended the blueberry cinnamon scone, which was AMAZING. This is usually my go-to spot for a premium cold brew... but no more. In the middle of the covid crisis, and as Yolo County has just introduced a mandatory face-covering rule... like all other customers I politely took my socially distant place in line. As I approached the bar, realized to my horror that the barista working the register / taking customer payment / making the final pour / handing you the mug... isn't wearing a mask. Are you serious!? I don't blame her, but I blame Temple management. Get your head out of your butt, and protect your workplace / your clientele. TCR was a really cute place for me and my Aggie to have a quick coffee date. Packed with students and hipsters alike, the place features a long community table with backless wooden barstools placed just far apart enough that you don't feel uncomfortable sitting across from or next to a stranger. There are other private tables to select from but I'm guessing those naturally are taken faster than the community table. I really liked how full of light the place was because of the big windows seeing out into the hustle and bustle of Davis on a weekend. I ordered a chai latte. Certainly not the best I've tried but good enough for government work. I wish it was sweeter or had more depth of flavor. Great place to study, hang out and have some great coffee I'm sure. First and last visit to Temple Coffee in Davis, CA. Coffee was good. Barrista admonished me with "Customers are not allowed behind the counter!!" when I bussed my table as I was leaving, and placed my cups 2 feet behind the counter. Very rude and abrupt. A kind and gentle "there is a place over here to put empty cups" would have been so much appreciated. I won't be going back - and I will let anyone who might listen know the reasons why. It's a nice place, that's for sure. Long story short: this place serves good coffee but it's a bit pricey. For me, I had a good experience at this cafe. It feels like a mixture of high-end/fancy and hipster. The ambiance is great and the whole place like one giant block of wood. If you can find an open chair to sit, this place would be good to study or have a chat while sipping on some coffee. I ordered the mocha and I was not disappointed. Although I wouldn't say their mocha was extraordinary, it was a decent drink and I would get it again if I wanted to impress a friend by going to a place like Temple. This place has super high quality coffee, nice decor, and extremely friendly and helpful employees. I've gotten a latte every time I've gone, and it's always been great. The employees are super patient and excited to help-- I asked them about the Kyoto Drip and they gave me a small cup to try it out before ordering!! Also, I accidentally knocked over my coffee, broke the glass, and created mess the first time I went, but they were so kind and made me a new one right away! I felt horrible but they reassured me that it was okay! The only problems I have are the coffee is pretty pricey and the wifi is timed, so you can't stay and study here a whole day. That was 1st mistake; all I could taste was the oat milk .. (normally get small..) anyway, just paid and ran. Looking at my receipt, that drink was $8.00 with the 1.00 tip. I'm a huge fan of Temple's S Street shop, and I think the downtown location is great too. I've been to the Davis shop over 30 times now. Unfortunately, the Davis shop just doesn't compare well to the downtown and midtown locations. That said, it's still a light year ahead of Starbucks and Peet's, and it's way better than Mishka's, so if you're in "downtown" Davis, this is the place. I had heard good things about Temple from folk in Sacramento so I was glad to find this location in Davis Commons. I like that they are not a huge chain like Starbucks, but they have the infrastructure in place to offer their own roasted beans. They have a beautiful set-up although I'm sure certain people may find the long shared table an annoyance. I appreciate that the store is brightly lit and that they offer 3 hours worth of complimentary wifi. I ordered one of the pour overs, which cost me $5.50 but didn't taste super discernible to me. I couldn't taste the different aromas it claimed to have, but I still enjoyed the coffee and the way it was presented in a pot. My mom's only gripe was that there was only half and half available and no honey for her coffee. I wish they had a bigger selection of pastries, but they do have a decent variety of gluten free and regular baked goods. Mom and I went with their blueberry muffin which was a bit dry in my opinion but not bad. read more

This is my first time stopping in at this location. Parking was easy since it was the holidays and downtown was pretty dead. If I was in the area for longer I would have enjoyed just hanging out at the cafe. The service was quick, easy, and very friendly. My favorite latte in Davis, hands down. Especially paired with a croissant! Went back for the first time since I moved away and it is very pricey (more than $5 for a latte!) but nevertheless, delicious. As others have said, their cold brew is a bit different than other places, and I don't love it, but to each their own. California power grid is about to collapse (several emergency messages have been sent), but this people just blow their AC all day long with no remorse. Truly in the style of third wave coffee shops, Temple is a brightly lit, thoughtfully adorned coffee shop selling staple coffee pour overs and espresso beverages. The space is beautiful and quite hip, if I do say so myself. To combat the warm weather, I ordered an iced latte which was standard, not standout; the espresso flavor barely came through all of the milk (also my bad for ordering a latte). I appreciate the large range of freshly roasted coffee beans as well as coffee brewing tools and merchandise for sale. I'm like a kid in a candy store when it comes to coffee related goods. The baristas were also very knowledgeable and amiable about the beans and brews. There was a sample of a Columbian that was also available, which I haven't seen other coffee spots do so that was nice. Goodness knows when I'll be back in Davis, but when I am I shall definitely give Temple another try. read more

Decided to try Temple's latte. First of all, it was really aesthetic and I thought it was good. The coffee used was good. My friend ordered a hot chocolate which also sounded good. But if I saw correctly, I'm pretty sure they just took chocolate milk from a falling jug and heated it up. I wasn't expecting that at all. My boyfriend ordered the espresso with their new strawberry blend and he said it was pretty good (close to Blue Bottle quality). Being the one of the only "hipster" coffee shops in Davis, I could see how it's always crowded here. They've done well by limiting wifi to only three hours so more students can come in and study in this cute place! Although this place has a nice warm atmosphere, their coffees are definitely a lot more expensive than other coffee shops - even comparing to the SF and SJ hipster cafes I've been to. Not to mention their addition of soy/almond milk is .80c/$1 and its way more than I've seen in any other place - not very lactose free friendly here I might say. When it was my turn to order, I decided to order something else besides the latte which I always order. I asked the barista for a macchiato first and he showed me the size of one, so I decided to get a cappuccino instead since it had more milk, but the barista seemed to be annoyed that I asked questions like those - kind of killed the happy hipster coffee place mood. However, another worker recommended their honey lavender muffin and it was so delicious it made up for the negativity in the beginning! Overall this place is good but I wouldn't come here if I can get cheaper coffees in other places. read more
