I love it when a historic old home has new life as a small local business. Decided to check this coffee shop out as I was looking for a local roaster. The people that work there were so cool! I'm thinking about moving to the area and they were really great about giving me a lot of suggestions of neighborhoods to look at. It seems that they specialize in a lot of iced flavored coffees, as that is what I saw most of the people that were there when I was getting. I just wanted a latte with a little bit of honey and cinnamon. Was kind of surprised that they don't carry cinnamon at their shop, that's a coffee shop staple. I did enjoy the latte, though, the roast on the beans was very nice. The vibe in this old home is so cool, lots of people just chatting and hanging out. Was a really great place to pass a little time in a beautiful neighborhood. I would return to this coffee shop. I didn't try any of the pastries that were available, but I did see a case with a selection. read more

I didn't have any great expectations about Milka only because it was a coffee place nearby where we were staying. But I must say this might be one of my new favorite coffee places in the Sacramento area. The Location was a very repurposed old house that just had a very cool vibe just to start with and the people who worked there were very friendly and hospitable. We had some Americanos that were quite good and then they had this iced tea that I don't remember the name of it, but it was so good. We went back again twice for it. I think it was like Blue Magic or something like that. No doubt about it. The next time we are here we will come visit Milka's. read more

I saw this spot on yelp and thought it looked cool being in a big old house downtown... it was okay. We both got latees, my husband got the apple hill spiced latte and it didnt have as much flavor as expected. I got a vanilla latte and it too was very light. we also got a lemon poppyseed cake -- the only lemon was on the frosting and it was clearly sitting for a while as it was dry. cute - converted place, that has a large seating area in side and an outside are too.... we sat outside for a bit but it was in direct sun - the only shaded tables werein a corner and already taken.... not sure we will be back as it was just okay. read more

This is a very cute coffee shop in the downtown area. The outside feels like you are about to enter a home. When you walk in, it might look small with the coffee bar right there but walking deeper into it you find plenty of seating to sit down and do some work. There is also seating outside. The menu itself has some of your common coffee orders but also some very unique ones as well. The service was great, they were friendly and quick. I got the apple hill spiced latte which was really good. It was not as heavily spiced as I thought it would be which I find enjoyable as some places can overdo it. It was crowded when we went but we were able to sit on some couches near the window. I would definitely come back again to try some of their other drinks if I am nearby. read more

Milka was so fun! The staff were so friendly and greeted me as I came in. There is plenty of room to sit & chill or even walk around the block. The Blue Magic Matcha was out of this world. Such a cute space! Came here for a meeting with a friend and the vibes were excellent. Perfect ambiance for productivity and good ideas! The brick is adorable and there were so many plants. Very impressive. It's on the bottom floor of a house too so it felt extra homey. The orange mocha latte I had was AMAZING!!! Omg the flavor was just what I was loving for. It tasted like a chocolate covered orange!! Insanely good, I've gone back twice now for it. The pastries look solid. Huge slices of breads and chunky muffins. Will def have to try one later on. Cute little coffee shop good for small catch ups or getting work done with a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of natural sunlight comes in, giving off really comfy and homey vibes. There is also free wifi and outlets around. I ordered the algerian mint matcha and it was really good! It was a great balance between the mint and matcha flavors, and the mint did not overpower the drink at all. The matcha was really light in flavor but not too milky. One thing about me, I need my matcha. Visiting Sacramento, I looked up matcha near me and Yelp suggested Milka Coffee Roasters. So glad I chose to come here because it left a great impression! This coffee shop is located in a historic Victorian home. It's beautifully charming inside with lots of plants, sunlight rooms, and a nice spotlight of the woman, Milka. It's a popular destination for people to work at with outlets and tables, plus a serene spot to just sip and chat. The one barista who helped us provided recommendations and made the drinks right on the spot, efficient, and courteous. I wanted to try their specialties and ordered an Iced Algerian Mint Matcha with Oat Milk. This was phenomenal, a wonderful balance of sweet and refreshing mint with earthy matcha. I wish more places offered this! We also got a Mocha and Blue Magic School Bus. My Pop said the mocha was great and tasted unique. The specialty Blue Magic School Bus reminded me of a floral, light, butterfly tea. If you like matcha, I recommend coming here to Milka to try their mint! Everything was good but on the pricier side (the menu states the price includes tip and tax). The cafe is located on G Street with street parking around. Parking is limited, but the cafe offers indoor and outdoor seating. Drinks are fresh and made to order, and the young lady at the counter was friendly. The prices felt very reasonable for Sacramento's current economy ($15.50 for both drinks), and uniquely this cafe doesn't do tips. Half strength matcha americano--wanted a more mild cup, hence half strength. Very strong grassy smell, which didn't translate into the taste. The matcha was silky smooth, and was well integrated into the water--no clumps or particles, and every sip was even with flavor. The taste was sweet, lightly creamy, and had a great mouth feel (not too coating). Iced lavender matcha--lavender flavor was natural and clean, and not too much syrup was used, as I could still taste the matcha and milk. The lavender and matcha worked very well together, bringing out more of the matcha's natural sweetness. The lavender lingers longer on the palette, but feels aromatic and not heavy. read more

The girl that made my drink was so cool! She said she was from San Bernardino and worked in Anaheim which is my hood and I said I was from Rancho Cucamonga and we were like yay! Totally want to move to Sacramento after finding a cool and unique coffee spot like this! They had cute Halloween decorations that made me smile (they almost look home made but like very art museum at the same time) I ordered the Rosemary's Baby latte and gulped it down while heading to the airport and thought, "How does Rosemary just go with coffee?" It's crazy how good it tastes! I parked out front in the 15 minute parking spot and ran inside for a quick coffee to go. I then bought a bag of beans to take home with me as a souvenir. They offered to grind the beans and I let them know it was not necessary as I have a grinder at home. It's located in an old home and if I were staying longer I'd work from this space! The service was phenomenal. Immediately greeted and all of the baristas were so friendly. Asking if we were ready to order, if we had any questions, and how our day was going. Additionally, there was a little girl who didn't speak much English. And the worker was so accommodating, pointing, simplifying words, to make sure the customer got exactly what they wanted. The worker even gave her a pastry on the house, so sweet!! I asked what coffee drink was most popular and she recommended the Maple Latte. I asked for an additional shot of espresso for it to be stronger. But she offered to make me a baby latte, which would allow me to taste the flavors of the syrups but less milk, making it stronger. I think next time, I will add that shot because it was too sweet for me! But still a yummy cup of joe. The aesthetic of the store is very modern, lots of greenery and plants. I absolutely love how much history surrounds the walls. I would go as far as saying it's a museum! There's timelines of where the dream started, the family, and the evolution of the business. There's also lots of seating, both in and outside!! When I visited there was a business meeting, couple individuals studying, and some people making small talk. Good coffee but the matcha is a big disappointment. The place is very cute. It's giving having coffee at a friend's place. My first visit I got a cappuccino which came with beautiful art and it was decent tasting. Which prompted my second visit. My second visit made me so sad.. I got a Matcha latte which is $8.25. For this premium price point, I am expecting ceremonial grade Matcha hand whisked and non sweetened. Their matcha comes sweetened so you have to get it sweet. Typically ceremonial grade Matcha comes unsweetened. In my drink, I don't even taste much Matcha. All I taste is sweet. I'm more than willing to pay a hefty price for decent matcha latte. I thought at this price point, good ceremonial grade Matcha would be used in a latte. But if I knew this is what I'm getting I wouldn't event attempt it. I could not drink the matcha latte so I bought another iced tea. Service is fast. But there is not much customer service which is completely fine if the drink is high quality/match what I pay for. This visit really left a bad impression. If I happen to pass by and need caffeine I'll probably get a cappuccino. But I won't seek this place out again. read more

Haven't been back here in a few years since my last lackluster experience but came back to bring coffee to a friend who works nearby. One of my go-to coffee house for the past 3 years. They have two locations (G st. Milka house + R st. WAL Market). Americanos are great as well as their Sparkling Milka beverage. The staff is friendly and what you see on the price list is what you pay. I love it when menus are straight forward. The Milka House is the best for work in early mornings or a post-church Sunday relaxation. However, parking can be hard to find since they're limited to 1-2 hours. This location has the best vibe out of the 2 since it's built inside an older home. Try to get the window seat! The location inside WAL Market serves delicious beverages too with plenty of seating available. Its nice that there is a poke shop & retail stores next door. Parking here is much more available but lacks the charm of the Milka House. Still a great place to work & hang out. Overall, I recommend Milka whole heartedly! Get their iced americano or Sparkling Milka. read more

Milka has been on my list of coffee shops to check out and I finally got the chance this past weekend to try it out. I stopped by with my friend on Sunday and we were very happy with our visit and our drinks! There's a lot of street parking nearby so we didn't have any issues finding parking. The girl who took our order was really and patient while my friend and I decided what we wanted to get. We got the mint matcha and regular matcha (I added vanilla) with oat milk. The matcha was perfect and the drink was blended perfectly! It wasn't milky at all which is my pet peeve with most matcha drinks. I was in the area looked this place up on yelp and decided to give it a try. There's plenty of street parking all around. This place is an old Victorian house. As soon as you walk up there's seating outside but there's no shade. You walk in and you can see the barista making the coffee. You pay right there. That area is extremely crammed when there's more than two people there. There was a room off to the side that was the waiting room. The coffee came out fast and it was very good. There's a handful of tables to sit at all with access to outlets. Their wifi is pretty slow so I often have to rely on my hotspot, but otherwise this is a great place to work.
