This bar is great! The owners & staff are completely present and are genuinely happy you're here. Their taps are always rotating and they have great specials. Their bloody Marys are a meal-- the accoutrements include bacon, cheese, olives, citrus and a pickle. I always get mine with a beer back. Tasty! For those of you who are gluten-free, Templestowe has a vast selection of ciders. Also, aside from a great brew offering, try one of their house cocktails. I'm not a fan of sweet cocktails, or cocktails made with a lot of mixes, and, thankfully for me, Templestowe's cocktails don't really include all of those "fillers." read more

One of my favorite pubs new Old Irving Park. Great staff, always laid back and attentive. Often features different tap takeovers from local brewers. Lots of welcoming regulars, especially on Bingo and Trivia nights. The addition of a new menu makes it a great place to watch games in the neighborhood. I am so happy I discovered Templestowe Pub! I just moved into the neighborhood from Rogers Park a few months ago, and I was a bit nervous as I am a huge fan of the neighborhood bar atmosphere. Not talking about a pizza place with a bar or a microbrewery or a night clubby bar, I'm talking about the serious old school corner bar. I had my place in Rogers Park, with my usual stool and everything and when I moved I was worried if I'd find anything that would compare. Well... Templestowe not only compares, it blows it out of the water. This has to be the nicest group of people I've ever met running a bar. Between Terry, who takes the time to chat with me, and whoever I'm with, and introduced us to several of the other regulars and John, who I've only had the pleasure of meeting once but was a super friendly and fun guy, you feel incredibly welcome and at home in Templestowe. The atmosphere is awesome, just the right amount of seating, cool decor, TVs to watch the game without being overbearing, and great music that isn't too loud but keeps the energy level up all night! Ok, so nice people and great atmosphere is one thing, but how about the beer? They have an amazing selection. I swear, every time I walk in, which is generally at least once or twice a week they have some new local brewery on tap. I'm pretty into beer, so I know a lot of the local breweries, but they keep finding new ones that are really great. They have even had some of the brewers come out and they raffle off shirts, etc. from the brewery with tickets for each beer you buy from that brewery. I've yet to win, but Terry, again an awesome guy, introduced me to one of the brewers from Local Option Brewery which happened to be the beer on tap that day. Not only did I get to try out three new beers, but I got to hear straight from the brewer what is in them and what they were going for/their process of making the beers. Also, huge plus for me, I am a big fan of slivovitz, which is somewhat hard to find in Chicago bars. Mentioned it to Terry and he pulls out a bottle from behind the counter! I couldn't believe it... They literally have everything lol. What I really love is that you'll never feel crammed in or out of place when you're in Templestowe. Everyone from the clientele to the bar tenders and owners are so friendly and welcoming that you simply can't beat it. Also, Terry has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to beers. I like to try out a new beer every time I'm out, and he has introduced me to a couple of my new favorites and has answered every question I've ever had about the different beers he has on tap/cans/bottles. It's truly the golden age for beer drinkers with all these amazing microbreweries, and I can't recommend anyplace to go to enjoy them more than Templestowe Pub. read more

Owner has done a great job with the rehab of this once out-dated hole in the wall, but the neighborhood is sketchy. Good prices on drinks but bring people with you in that neighborhood (especially if going in the evening). read more

A great neighborhood bar. Before ever entering, I knew Templestowe was a committed and generous neighbor, donating to the neighborhood schools and hosting community group gatherings. Hooray for that! During my first visit on a Monday night, the friendly and knowledgable bartender let us know that trivia would be starting soon, and free pizzas were on the way. If you're looking for a trivia spot that isn't a madhouse, this just might be the place. The vibe was chill, and the beer selection was solid. No food, but you're welcome to order in. read more

I love this place! It's perfect for a beer after work or a fun weekend night. They have a great beer selection and make great cocktails. What I love about this place this most is I can stop in for a $3 beer or have a nice top shelf bourbon. The staff is hands down one of the best in the city. This fun little bar in Albany Park is a great spot. Terry is always in there and has a smile and friendly banter, makes you feel welcome even when you pop in by yourself. I always meet interesting characters (in a good way lol) here with my wife. When friends come into town I always make sure to stop in and show them the place. I also have participated in a frozen turkey bowling competition there which I had only previously done in northern Wisconsin. (Beat out by the wife but there is always next year). A little taste of Australia in Chicago...This place is conveniently located a block away from my place, and yet if it weren't I'd still be down to hanging there to watch the Hawks or have a date night. They have quality brands of brew on tap and in bottles/cans as well as a large selection of ciders. There are always tunes playing that gives an upbeat atmosphere, but not blasting so you are free to carry on a covno with your partner and pals or make friends with the engaging Aussie owners. They have a system to communicate with Angelo's up the street and the food arrives10 minutes later The bathrooms are not creepy and prices are reasonable . Templestowe! Friendly neighborhood tavern, with friendly locals who don't mind chatting it up. Exceptionally good tap list, with lots of rare stuff, as well as a good selection of cans/bottles, and ciders. They have game nights, with fun social unusual games everyone in the bar gets involved. I think that's on Tuesday's. They do offer pub food, with a special menu, provided by the restaurant down the street, which will drop off at the restaurant, and will be charged to your bar tab. I spent pretty much my entire Saturday night here last weekend and have many good things to say about this place. They have a decent beer selection (although only 8 beers on tap), a pretty good jukebox, and a nice neighborhood bar feel. The music was a little too loud - I did have trouble hearing my more soft spoken friends speaking all night. The other not so good thing was as respects the drink specials. They had signs outside and inside advertising a $3 312 pint. Every single time someone from my group ordered the 312, the bartender charged us the regular price. We said something the first time and he quickly corrected the mistake, but then he kept doing it all night. Finally, I got tired of asking for the special price and just paid what he said. It was sort of embarrassing for me to be honest. I did like that the place had a decent flow of people all night but never got very crowded. Overall, it was a good neighborhood type bar that I will go to again if in the area. read more

I happen to stumble upon the Templestowe Pub, just a few blocks from my apartment, on the day of their grand re-opening (formerly Brendan's Too bar) last Summer. I fell in love with this bar and the owners and staff right away. Owned by John and his wife Jennifer (an Australian and a Chicagoan, respectively) who have created a fantastic neighborhood corner bar. They have a great rotating beer selection and it's literally a pub like Cheers where everybody knows your name (or if they don't you'll make friends with everyone really quickly). They don't have a kitchen, but you can order food from any of the neighborhood joints. They are dog-friendly (as long as your dog is friendly), and they even named a drink after my dog (try the Trooper Mule when you're there). They are active on Facebook and Instagram and have many fun events from turkey bowling to tap takeovers, Local Option and Breakroom Brewery, just to name two. John is Australian, so they have other Australian beers besides the F-word (Fosters) which you're not allowed to say in the bar). They also serve FEW whiskey, distilled in Evanston, which I highly recommend. It's a bit out of the way if you don't live in the neighborhood, but the Montrose bus or the brown line (Francisco stop) can get you really close or parking is not difficult if you drive. And the Breakroom brewery is also nearby, so it's totally worth the trip to Albany Park to check out this hidden gem of a neighborhood bar. read more

This is a classic Chicago neighborhood corner bar! The Irish pub deco inside along with the great bartenders make it a warm and friendly place to stop in for a quick one or hang out all night and catch a game or rock the jukebox! They're also starting to bring in some great live music including acoustic open mics every other Thurs night, and full bands too. No offense to the diversity of the neighborhood. But Albany Park FINALLY has a bar for the yuppies who couldn't afford to buy in Lincoln Square. The new windows will open up in the summer. They have HDTV and a commitment to broadcasting Chicago sporting events. AND it looks like they'll have some pretty decent drink specials too. An extremely great addition to the neighborhood. Brendan's too is my go-to neighborhood bar. They have an all-extensive jukebox, cheap drinks and the best bartenders in town. Tommy, Ziggy and Annie will keep the drinks flowing and my 150 pound lion dog Moose is the (un)official mascot. (they even keep dog treats behind the bar! Love this place and you will to. Brendan's Too is awesome! It is the only bar in the neighborhood that I will go to. Actually... it's the only bar I go to at all anymore. All of my friends that have been there really enjoyed it. great little pub, i was ther for bears opening game and it was very nice. they had pumpking, which is my favorite! i like the selection of beers. bartender was very nice and she always checked on me and asked how i was. i wish they had bigger TVs to watch the bears games tho :( read more

6 months ago I would have given this place 5 stars, but the bartenders that made this place great have moved on. That said, the decor is inviting, drinks are well priced, and usually draws a good mix of yuppies and townies from the neighborhood. They have also started a Friday night blues night which is a great idea. Hopefully owners draw better bar backs, but isn't a reason to try this place out! read more

They do not serve food, but have a special menu made from Angelo's across the street. Worth checking out if you live close, otherwise nothing special. read more
