I went into Temptations to get a bit of studying in. Ordered a chai latte, sat down at a table and did some work. I think the Coolidge Corner crowd hasn't yet discovered this place or just don't go here yet since it's on the Washington Square direction of Beacon Street. Lots of pluses. Clean, new, wifi, not crowded, nice staff, and comfortable. They have magazines and random games, and two flat screen TV's. Also for this Texan girl, they have Dr Pepper in both can and fountain drink form. Awesome. I'll come here while it's still a best-kept secret, before the crowds overrun the place like the other coffee joints in town. Update: I've come here sporadically, usually to get a tea or Dr Pepper. However had a bad experience that honestly had made me question whether to come back again. My brother was visiting Boston, and we came by to get breakfast. My bro can't do dairy, and he ordered a breakfast sandwich w/ no cheese and a soy latte. First they were out of bagels, completely out, so we changed to English muffins for the sandwiches. Then when it came out, there was cheese on his sandwich. We apologetically told them about his dietary restrictions, and they kindly remade it. However they apparently made the late with real milk, which wreaks havoc. Word to the wise, if you're lactose intolerant take lactaid while you eat-- YOU NEVER KNOW. read more

Very dissatisfied with service today. We called ahead and asked what time they were closing. We were told 7pm. We got all bundled up and walked all the way down there just to be told that you are now closing at 6 "because of the cold". Completely unacceptable. I love this place! As soon as it opened I was excited to try it and my excitement was not let down. Totally delicious inspired sandwiches, wraps, smoothies and more. The staff is awesome and friendly, the girl with the long dark hair is there most of the time and she is totally nice and a pleasure to interact with (I think her name is Megan, or Morgan? I asked one time but I have a terrible memory). The decor is relaxed and peaceful.There are framed pictures of veggies and landscapes. The place is always clean (even their bathroom) and usually pretty crowded too but I always seem to get a table. I usually get one of their Panini's and a bowl of their lentil soup. It is the best lentil soup I have ever had, I think it might be dill that they put in it? But whatever it is, its a flavor that is unique and fantastic. I don't eat non organic meat so when I go out to restaurants I am a vegetarian. Temptations is always accommodating in taking the meat out of my sandwich and adding another ingredient of my choice. I recommend their Mushroom and Brie, or their one with the Pomodoro sauce for dipping. (I cant remember the name.) Oh and also they have simple syrup to sweeten your drinks with!(maybe this is common for places but I have never seen it before) I find it very helpful when I have a cold drink like ice tea that needs to be sweetened, cause sugar granules just don't dissolve in cold drinks. I like to support local businesses, and Temptations Cafe makes it pretty easy to do. The food prices are a little high for how simple the menu is, but it can't be cheap to operate in Coolidge Corner. Definitely get a latte, though! The leaf drawn in the foam can make your day. read more

Cozy spot to catch up with friends, get some work done and have some delicious sandwiches! My favorite paninis & sandwiches: - Pesto Chicken - Tuna, Avocado & Cheddar - Prosciutto & Fresh Mozzarella (this is a cold sandwich but I always ask for it hot so the cheese melts!) I have been going to Temptations even before they opened their Coolidge Corner location. I've always liked their restaurants but this location is definitely an upgrade and by far the most spacious and cozy one. The food here beats pre-made sandwich chains like Cosi or Panera. They are definitely on par if not better with their atmosphere and wifi connection. I would rather support small businesses like Temptations than opt for a chain cafe restaurant. read more

I'm having an early-ish dinner at Temptations tonight and am counting the minutes. It's only 11am. Sigh. It's gonna be a loooong day. Three years ago, my husband and I stumbled into their St Mary's location as we made our way toward the MFA. We were both expecting just a normal, mediocre sandwich experience and were both totally proven wrong by our delicious lunches! We've been hooked ever since. You can imagine our delight when they opened in Coolidge Corner - right near our house. Needless to say, we are very regular customers. The space is nice - open and airy with lots of natural light and free wifi. The ladies room is always spotless, too, which is a huge plus! The staff is awesome, especially Lou. The dark-haired girl who tends the register is also really nice and always remembers that one of my kids has a food allergy. Super customer service. As for the food, all of the sandwiches and salads are awesome. I think I've tried most of them and have never been disappointed. My favorites are the Mediterranean wrap, the chicken panini with pesto, mushroom/brie panini, the goat cheese salad, greek salad, and that yummy marscapone/fig brioche panini! My husband is a huge fan of their Cubano and their breakfast burritos. My son always orders the spicy Southwestern panini and my daughters like their BLTA wrap. The coffee is really good, too. Be warned, though: Their mochas and lattes are RICH. They're delicious, but definitely a special treat. For those who aren't coffee-drinkers, they have an excellent selection of loose teas. The prices are slightly high, but so is the quality. I'd rather pay an extra buck or two and get food made with fresh ingredients than go somewhere cheaper and get a stomachache later. First off, i'm not much of a Yelp contributor so if I write a review its either to warn humanity of a complete fail or because i've experienced something so fan-f'ing-tabulous that I must evangelize. In the case of Temptations its the latter. Similar to Napolitano and Parisian thinking, everything at Temptations is made with love and passion. Taking into consideration the extreme high quality of the coffee and drinks, the expressive flavorful edibles, the friendly staff, the chill yet refined decor, and the overall awesome vibe I dub Temptations Cafe the best of Boston. Its so good that I have made it my unofficial office (free unlimited wifi:) Downside: going to Temptations is like skiing British Columbia. Once you've experienced it, everywhere else leaves you wanting. In response to the smoothie boo's, to each their own but i've inspected the process and the bananas are what gives the smoothies their awesome texture (Its not even half bananas), the apple juice takes the place of refined sugar and a smoothie made with milk is not a smoothie...its a shake. read more

Temptations wouldn't usually be my kind of place: $8 sandwiches sans meat, basic menu, etc. However, they do a great version of a basic cafe. First off, the atmosphere is good: spacious, plenty of seating, and laid back. The falafel wrap I had was big, fresh, and delicious. My honey cinnamon latte was rich and just sweet enough (I.e. if you want a little coffee and a lot of milk, skip Starbucks and come here). Still, this cost around $13. Yes, there are relatively cheaper, more interesting places in and around Coolidge to get coffee and lunch. That said, this is both the best and most expensive boring cafe I have found, hands down. Tl;dr: Cheap? Skip it. Adventurous? Skip it. Just want something solid and average? Go for it. read more

Stopped in here this weekend to grab coffee with a friend. The place is very welcoming, well lit and clean. I ordered a 12 oz. cappuccino. While this drink was excellent and very well made, it was, unfortunately, not really 12 oz. I think it was likely closer to 8. Hmmm. However, everything else about our experience here was great. The staff was friendly. Our orders came out relatively quickly. We stayed here and chatted for over 2 hours and no one bothered us. Will definitely be back. read more

I strolled in on a Tuesday to pick up lunch after seeing so many people frequent this cafe. There were four people ahead of me in line at 11am. I waited my turn and ordered a wrap to-go. I waited about 5 minutes for my wrap and was out the door. The price seemed pricey but not extravagant ($7.67 for a wrap with tax), but when I sat down to eat, I realized the wrap was giganto! I teeter between love and "ok". If you want a soy latte in Coolidge Corner, this is one of the better places to head to. And they're toasty PB&Jam sandwich (with powdered sugar on top)? So so good. If you have a lot of time on your hands and want somewhere with an OK atmosphere and a good amount of space and quiet, this is a pretty good choice. My problems with this place is more along the lines of the help. In fact! They were hiring another barista and I thought about it for two seconds (second jobs can be fun- especially in a cafe), then realized I'd hate the people I would be forced to work with. I have yet to have someone greet me when I come in; they more stand at the register with a "what the flip do you want" look on their face. Never a smile, and never speedy (or even regular) service. To order a vanilla soy latte and PB&J? 20 minute wait. For just the latte? Around 10-12 minutes. And I've dug down and waited for this long four times thus far. And they haven't been busy any of these times either. The cook is usually doing prep or cleaning when I order, and the two girls who are too busy to deal with you are usually wandering or gossiping around the back/counter area. So, if you have time and patience and don't care about the customer service you receive, this place is great! If you care more about customer service, stroll a bit further down to Harvard St and try either the Paris Creperie or Peet's. read more

Love this place so so so much. It's clean, has great customer service, isn't expensive, has a great menu, good portions, delicious and fresh... I could continue. I used to work around the corner and would always come in during my breaks, so I have tried a large portion of the menu. I love the sandwiches, all of them. Even when they run out of baguettes (which is more often than not), I am not disappointed because the other breads (ciabatta, wheat) they use for the sandwiches are so GOOD, especially when they put them in the panini press. UGH I die. Honestly you could choose any, but my favorite would be the roasted tomato and chevre... or maybe the tuna and avocado... or maybe the fig and prosciutto. It is a hard choice. You will definitely leave full. Even the salads are filling, and they're not filled with crap. They're pretty healthy, and they all come with a side of pita! My favorite is the Mediterranean salad, and this is why: dolmas! Yes, they put grape leaves in the salad. What a novel idea! I guess the only problem with the Coolidge Corner location would be seating. It does get quite full, especially around 2pm on the weekends. Which is disappointing because that is prime stare-out-a-window-in-a- cafe time. Whatever. If I have to wait a few seconds to eat my food, I'll do it. My brother and I have been Brookline residents for many years and have never tried Temptations Café. I ordered a Tunafish cheddar avocado sandwich, and he ordered a breakfast sandwich. The tunafish had way too much mayonnaise on it which made it almost a soupy-like consistency, and my brother's breakfast sandwich had loads of butter on the inside and outside of the toast. surprisingly he stated that the sandwich tasted a little bland, not as flavorful as he would have liked.. One of the best lattes I had recently. First of all, they only have one size of latte for ordering inside and that is a HUGE size for a Great price (3.20ish I think). The latter was delicious and warm some of the lattes I had before were more on the cold side. I loved my BIG latte here and would definitely come back for it. read more

Everything is fresh, the people who work there are great, and the atmosphere is pleasant. If you're looking for outdoor seating, check out their other restaurant at the St. Mary's stop. Equally as friendly staff, but the indoor seating there is lacking. Better for outdoor seating and/or take-out. I've tried all the smoothies and the Berry Patch and Raspberry Mango are by far the best. The baklava is delicious. As are all the sandwiches and salads I've had. Do be prepared for $5 smoothies and $8 sandwiches and salads, but you get what you pay for and the ingredients are fresh and healthy! read more

With not so many breakfast options open at 7:30AM in Brookline, I was pleased to find a highly rated cafe option within walking distance to the Courtyard Marriott. I guess I was expecting something a little more unique... I ordered the breakfast egg sandwich with turkey, and it was reminded me of what you would get at any typical NYC Bodega. It was good, but just meh. The service was equally as stoned faced, but fast and relatively friendly for that time of the morning. The espresso however is definitely one step above standard and for that I would return on a regular basis. For anyone visiting the Brookline area and staying at the Courtyard, it's definitely worth venturing away from the lobby Starbucks for a coffee at Temptations. read more

Just tried Temptations for the first time today (well, I'm actually sitting here as I Yelp about it). It's a great, cozy atmosphere with a buzz. There seems to be a constant flow of people coming in-and-out either to grab a quick cup of joe or to get some work done. The food looks pretty good here, too. I tried the Chicken Caesar Salad, and it was pretty yummy, if I might say so myself. Perfect dressing-to-lettuce ratio. read more

This is my place to eat and study. It's clean (including the bathroom!). The interior is easy on the eyes. The employees are extremely friendly and patient.
