Terrible Food selection for Eid. On top of that they ridiculously charged around $20 for buffet on Eid Day. This crook mentality is what leads to downfall. EID is meant for people to come together and celebrate happiness but owners of Tempura who are very religious in their personal life decided to take advantage of this special day and jacked up the prices to fulfill their hunger for greed. I am sure they are able to religiously justify their loot. Kudos to the owners for having such an educated and progressive mentality. Super clean and one of the best quality buffet in entire Houston area with very reasonable prices. I stopped by 1-2 time per week and love there food quality. I love the seikh kabob, blanked fish, Lahori Fish, Chicken Tikka Mali and Bahari kabob. Look No one, no one in entire us put bahari kabob in lunch buffet. Now I loved there lessi in buffet. The only thing I don't like about this place is weekend buffet is too expensive and its not any different than lunch buffet so why they are charging $6 more for weekend buffet. read more

I want to start off by saying that ive been to their sugarland location and if its fri n sat night the buffet is fresh and fantastic... this was our first time here the first saturday of ramadan only to find out they were out of iftari even before the fast had opened! The answer to which my husband got was "oh well"! food at best was mediocre and the restaurant looked rather filthy... i guess a visit by the health department is due!...nothing at all tasted fresh or extraordinary... they ran out of 1 of total 2 desserts... again a huge overall disappointment... i would never recommend or come back to this particular location again! read more

One of our favorite places for eating desi food...the grilled chicken is great, as is the Haleem, fresh naan, Lahori fish and paalak paneer. Their variety is great, and unlike most south Asian places, have good customer service. read more

Went for dinner on a saterday night. The place had alot of people, mostly families. I was greeted by eddie, he was really nice and very welcoming. The atmosphere was great, all the guests were really nice and having a good time. I never go to a restaurant and the other customers talk to me. I went out with my family last week and was extremely disappointed. They had the worst food and not courteous at all, we ordered French fries for kids and it was brought out very bland without any seasoning so I asked the waitress about it her reply was " this is all what we have "! Not even bothered to ask us anything further. I used to go there before and they had great food and very good staff but things are different now. I felt bad for taking my family out to this place. Very unhappy. When you order a meal be aware it isn't a meal at all but just a very small portion of the meat you ordered. Nothing with it. No sides, no bread, nothing. 10 bucks for one piece of chicken and 15 bucks for maybe 6 oz. of goat. They had a buffet but it looked like it was 6 hours old so we ordered from menus. Will not recommend. will not go back. I gave it a second star only because they didn't get me sick. read more

The place is a hit or miss. I'd still say it's one of the best Pakistani restaurants in town. The buffet has a wide range of foods but IMO is too pricy. Sometimes their biryani & haleem & custard tastes amazing!! But sometimes the food tastes so bland. Their beef nihari has always been good. The owner is very nice & the service is great. I went here yesterday with my family for dinner and I loved it! I tried the haleem, chicken tikka, chicken tikka masala, rice, and keer(rice pudding) from the buffet. The haleem was the best! My whole family thought it was great and I couldn't stop eating it! I will say though the chicken seemed dry and like it had been there the whole day BUT because the haleem was so good this deserves five stars. read more

Being South Asian myself, I never go out for Pakistani/Indian food as I can usually make it better at home myself. Tempura is an exception. I'll accept any excuse to come here - weddings, baby showers, etc at the party hall next door, or just a lunch out with friends. I brought my best friends of 15 years here for lunch and they were delighted at the food quality & quantity for the price. They got the chicken biryani, goat biryani, palak paneer, and chicken tikka, along with the mango lassi - every dish was given the highest praise! Came to this restaurant for the buffet for dinner. Food was okay, but the only complaint I have is that I was being stared at almost the entire time by an individual who I assumed to be the owner or manager of the establishment. I felt highly uncomfortable being watched like this and will likely never come back again. Firstly I must mention to you that my friends,family and I, we like trying new cuisines & flavours, we go out for food almost every weekend.We decided to go to this restaurant, Tempura, as we wanted to eat pakistani cuisine and we heard about this place on the houston radio, Sangeet F.M, almost daily. Me and husband were so excited to try the place out, so we decided not to have breakfast on sunday and savour the much hyped about buffet. We reached the place at about 12:00 and we had no worries on waiting for free table. However the place was empty ...strange and unusual thing for a sunny Sunday noon in our country. When you get in, there's a man (the boss I think) and a waitress, both who do not care about what you need.. He was not friendly at all and as about her, she had an unpleasant looking on everyone all the time. The place has bright colours minimal design and it looks clean and tidy.The menu has no certain speciality. So me and husband served ourselves , the not so exciting buffet and i went back to get some cutlery when i saw my husband just get up from eating his food. Then i came back to the table and to my horror saw a "roaches" crawl out of my food. Not one but two. Absolutely disgusted and sick looking at the hygiene of the food we went up to the guy who was at the counter to complain about what happened. His response " What can we do" . No apology, not even walking up to our table to see what just happened, just a straight face saying "there's nothing we can do about it if they come from outside". The waitress who did not care about what we needed till then comes up to the counter and tells the guy " Its not your fault. What could you have done". This the worst service we have experienced. Such bad food and horrible response. there was a family of 5 eating at the table next to us , of which 3 were children. Looking at them serve and dine was scary and sad as they did not know what they were eating.The service was absolutely disappointing. The waiters had extremely good mood...so good that they were dancing, they were yelling each other and they generally made fuss annoying us. In addition they could hardly notice us when we wanted something (water, the bill etc.). I could hardly think of circumstances under which diners would deserve this kind of treatment in ANY restaurant. Do not even think of trying this restaurant. Not worth anything. My next step is to report this to the food safety department because honestly judging by the reaction of the guy at the counter and the waitress they did not seem to care. read more

I came for lunch and had the buffet to try the many dishes, however, they were limited. The selections that i did try were okay, not bad, but I've had better. I came here for a buffet, and it was about average when compared to other buffets in the area. The selection was limited and had a few Oriental dishes in the mix, hence the name. This must be a Pakistani restaurant based upon some of the dishes served. There is nothing spectacular about the buffet , my own real recommendation would be that maybe they should give a larger variety of dishes served in smaller quantities so that there would be a turnover of fresh food during the meal. The Indian food is ok. Asian food is scary. American food is ~interesting~. Don't get the tempura chicken and fries. You get 8 matchstick fries, and crazy dry red colored chicken. I have no idea who thought this would pass as tempura? But good for them that people still order that. The tempura shrimp was super oily. the Malai chicken wrap was good. Their kebabs are nice too. This place is a hit and miss! I've been here three times now. First time hated it but gave it a second try and it was good but not the best. The food is fresh and is flavorful. It's a buffet type place. You could order fresh naan to come out while your eating and doesn't cost you anymore money. Everything is self serve and once your done you head to the back of the restaurant and pay. The cashier man is the owner and is super nice. If you cater your food than its even better. Best Pakistani/Indian food I've had in a long time. We tried the buffet. Food was served fresh, hot and tasted beyond expectations. This is a pretty good restaurant. We ended up having their dinner buffet, which had a decent selection of maybe 10~ items. The only thing you need to watch out for are random bones seem to be in the butter chicken, which kind of catch you off gaurd. read more
