Hon Ramen reigns supreme. Any time, every time. The service is friendly, the rolls are my favorite in town and the ramen is soul warming. See my previous photos and reviews and know that this place is a winner.

I had a very fast & good experience here for lunch! I walked over here from the court (jury duty nonsense) because it was so close by. I got here right before 12 & I was seated immediately. Within 5 minutes of ordering, I received my food! My server was quick. I totally beat the lunch rush! I love the atmosphere in here. The bright colors are fun & the architecture is modern & cute. I ordered a miso soup & a regular salmon roll. The soup was a tad on the overly-onion flavored side but it was nice & hot. The roll was perfect! Literally the perfect size. Fresh salmon, the rice was EXTRA sticky. It was great. With these and a tea, it was $20 so fairly priced! I wish I was downtown more often because I'd totally come by more. I remember in the past, I'd get their ramen & it was so good. Til next time!

Hon Ramen absolutely ate. The Spicy Garlic Miso Ramen was insanely good, super rich, spicy, and so comforting. The vibes were immaculate too, super chill. Walked in stressed, left feeling like I was living in a lofi study playlist. 10/10. Quick service too.

Favorite ramen spot in Bakersfield. The food never disappoints. They have great appetizers like the shrimp tempura and jalapeño bombs. My go to is always the Hon Ramen and it's always great. They have the best chashu pork i've ever tried, it just melts in your mouth. The atmosphere is really nice and inviting and the customer service is great as well everyone is very friendly. I would highly recommend!

This restaurant did not disappoint. I reached around kitchen closing time and service was really quick. There were guests still dining and there was no rush to leave. The ramen bowl was great. They definitely know to make a perfect bowl of well seasoned ramen. The reviews for this restaurant speak about the quality of food. They have bar seating as well as table seating. Pricing was moderate high. Will definitely recommend this restaurant.

We are new to the area and were trying to get acquainted with the downtown shops one day and found ourselves right across the street and needed to stop in for lunch! We walked in and the interior was super cool so right away we were excited for the experience. We put our orders in and got our food delivered pretty fast! We definitely enjoyed ourselves - if you're in need of some good ramen, stop by! We will be back as well.

Violently craving ramen & decided to visit this restaurant with my son. We were greeted & sat quickly. We ordered the Yaki Pork Gyoza for an appetizer, the chicken ramen, and a crunchy shrimp roll. The gyoza came out quickly and to my pleasant surprise had excess crispy bit (so crunchy and good). Flavorful gyoza with crispy exterior and perfect spicy soy based dipping sauce. Next, the chicken ramen came quickly piping hot. My son & I shared the ramen and it was plenty! The ramen had large pieces of chicken, broccoli, noodles, etc. The broth was so flavorful! Amazing ramen! We then received the shrimp crunch roll with tiny crunchy tempura bits on the exterior and imitation crab and fried shrimp in the roll. Can't wait to come back! Service was really great! My son wanted to try different Japanese soda's and the waitress suggested great recommendations.

Walking inside takes you into a new world. They have multiple screens with K-pop playing. I liked the low lights and trending decor. We got ramen & a spicy tuna roll. The service was on point, restroom was clean & fresh, only wish I'd had time for the green tea ice cream. I could see this being a nice place to enjoy sake & dinner on date night.

Wonderful service everyone's very nice and the sushi is delicious I tried one roll out of all my friends plates and they where all yummy!

I had been meaning to try this place for a year. I was finally able to this past week while catching up with a friend :) I am sort of a Ramen snob, and have my one select restaurant in town, but after this visit, I can definitely say this place beats out the rest! It is sooo good! My only issue with the place is the pricing for the spicy sauce and additional toppings. The hon ramen has limited toppings in comparison to other ramen spots. But it's still worth a try if you're in the area.

Came because it had the best ramen reviews for Bakersfield. It did not disappoint. I got the spicy tonkotsu with a lot of add ons: Tantan pork, garlic, tofu, kimchi. Tho if you're expecting a lot of heat, this isn't it. It had a very small kick of spice. The gyozas were alright. The presentation was super pleasing. The sauce didn't really do it for me but the texture of the qyozas were good. Green tea ice cream didn't have a lot of green tea flavor but was still good. I loved the little umbrella! I thoroughly enjoyed this ramen! A big thank you to Ritchie who helped me figure out what I wanted. You were super helpful and funny. Thanks for making my first experience a good one. As I left, the staff shouted "see you tomorrow" and I laughed the whole way back to my car. I WILL be back... but not tomorrow haha.

This review is based on a to-go order. I phoned in a to-go order, the staff were so friendly over the phone. My order was made promptly and packaged super well for the drive home. The ramen was packaged separately to keep all items fresh and warm! The food was just as delicious as if it were being served in restaurant. Their hon ramen is ALWAYS a must!!

    Best spicy ramen?

Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen. Tell the chef how spicy you want it. The same goes for any of the Ramens that have "spicy" in the name.

    Are there vegan options here?

Yes. They have a vegan ramen option and vegan rolls. All very delicious.

One thing I noticed was the mix of different tables and chairs throughout the restaurant. It almost feels like a hodgepodge of furniture, but somehow it works and fits the contemporary vibe rather than feeling out of place. The food was excellent, the service was friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. We received our food surprisingly fast, which was a nice bonus. There was a mistake with one of our rolls, but the staff handled it well. They quickly remade the roll and brought us a replacement at no charge, which I really appreciated. One of the highlights was a custom roll with jalapeño, avocado, and asparagus. I added cream cheese and had it deep fried, and it honestly tasted like a sushi version of a jalapeño popper. It was absolutely amazing and something I would order again in a heartbeat. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. The bathroom and the restaurant is very clean. And the staff was very attentive, professional, and very pleasant. I enjoyed the food I ordered via DoorDash, but this time I got it fresh right out of the kitchen and the counter, and it was amazing. We started with the jalapeño bomb, and mixed tempura in a size small. Both those appetizers were delicious and perfect for sharing. Then we ordered a California roll on soy paper, the Kuma special sushi roll, and the creamy salmon roll. Everything was fresh and very shareable. We could've easily shared our meal with two other people needless to say we had leftovers to take home. I definitely recommend this place and I look forward to going back. There are other things on the menu such as fried rice, udon, and teriyaki plates. They also had a couple of desserts, so I am definitely planning on trying one of those. Enjoy!

I know, I know, what the heck am I doing eating hot soup in the middle of a Kern County summer, you ask? Well, I'm obviously crazy and am a bit of a glutton for punishment... Also, the ramen here is worth it! I asked for the ramen spicy and the kitchen certainly did not disappoint, I liked how the added spiciness paired up with the wonderful, porky richness of the broth, I even got an extra tub of chili oil crisp! The sliced pork was very tender and delicious and paired well the bamboo shoots and bean sprouts, the scallions on top were also delicious! The only thing that would have made my ramen bowl perfect was the boiled egg or (ajitsuke tamago) I was sorely missing it in my bowl. I'm glad we did, because it gave us a whole new feel for the place. Inside isn't massive, but it's not cramped either. Think of it like the Goldilocks of restaurant spaces: just right. The vibe leans calm and cozy, dim lighting, black walls, and splashes of color here and there. It's got that "peaceful sushi zen" atmosphere without being boring. Our waitress deserves a medal (or at least an extra roll on the house). She was the only one working the floor, yet somehow managed to be friendly, attentive, and efficient all at once. Multitasking level: expert. Now onto the food, which is really why we came back. We ordered a spread: two teriyaki chicken plates, one chicken ramen bowl, an order of sushi crunch rolls, egg rolls, a large pineapple sake, a beer, and two iced teas. (Yes, we came hungry. Don't judge.) Everything came out quickly, hot, and fresh. The chicken was juicy, the rice perfectly cooked, and the little bed of veggies under the teriyaki chicken was tender-crispy and surprisingly addictive. Whoever thought of tucking those under there deserves a raise. The ramen had bold flavors that hit the spot, and the sushi rolls lived up to their name, they really were crunchy and delicious. Now, the egg rolls. Let me tell you, these might just be the best I've ever had. Perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and stuffed with flavor on the inside. The kind that makes you regret ordering only one plate. Drinks? The beer was cold (and surprisingly affordable), the iced teas were strong and refreshing, and the pineapple sake... well, it was different, let's just say it's not everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I'll stick to tequila, lol, but my husband happily claimed the sake as his new favorite. Win-win. Prices here are fair and budget-friendly, which is always nice to see at a sushi spot. The place was clean and well-kept, and I'm happy to say it still holds up just as well as when I ordered takeout years ago. Bottom line: Shoyu Sushi is still doing its thing, fresh food, good prices, relaxing vibe, and service that makes you feel taken care of. If you want sushi that crunches, teriyaki that comforts, and egg rolls that just might ruin all other egg rolls for you, this is the spot.
