We stopped in here recently and had a great time. We started with the gyoza, tempura string beans, and the edamame. We ordered the shrimp tempura for our daughter. It came with 4 pieces and came out very hot. Our daughter found that out the hard way on the first bite. The yellowtail scallion, peanut avocado, rock shrimp avocado, and the mini tent rolls were excellent. Almost everything we ordered was delicious. Unfortunately Ten Japanese has fallen off my radar as far as one of my go to sushi spots. Since my last review, I ordered delivery a couple times and one thing has become a constant: their Maki rolls fall apart. Each and every one of them. All the time now and including tonight's order. So disappointing. Though the seafood seems to be fresh, there's nothing more disappointing when avocado, rice and salmon go in different directions and their separate ways. A hot mess picking up the pieces. As far as the flavor (example salmon skin with avocado)---not too memorable. I think I'll be parting ways with Ten Japanese. Sorry. read more

Every time I try to give this place a chance. It is just not it. Came in by myself recently, saw it wasn't crazy busy & there was a table by the sushi bar so went in to treat myself to dinner. Started off with a hot tea, probably the highlight of my meal tbh. With that I ordered a kani salad & gyoza to start. The kani salad was just drowning in soggy tempura flakes. Have the entire thing the weirest texture. They should have just pt some on top, felt like they made this in advance with the flakes so of course they would be soggy. The gyoza were fine, nothing special but also not the worst I've had. For sushi I got the Pink Lady: Spicy crunchy tuna, mango on the inside. Topped with tuna. The inside of the roll was fine. The tuna on top was such a mess & honestly a disgrace to sushi. The "tuna" on top was chopped up previously & then they tried to form it back into a tuna slice???? Completely falling apart & definitely old fish because it wasn't nearly as fresh as the tuna in the spicy tuna inside the roll. Would never order again. I always try to support local, but after all the chances I've given this place will not be coming back. Hopefully they start to do better. read more

Was seated right away on a Wednesday night. Outside a seating was full since it was a very comfortable evening. Inside had much space and was nicely air conditioned. Servers were polite, friendly and attentive. They gave us time to review the menu, checked back to see if and when we would be ready and took our order at the appropriate time. Food came quite quickly and they introduced each dish so we would know what was what. Yes, we ordered and should know what we ordered but we had several rolls so knowing which was which is important. Each roll had its own unique flavor profile meaning not everything tasted the same, as what can happen elsewhere. Portions were on the slightly small side hence the slightly lower score. There was only four of us for dinner. We order fried calamari, a bowl of udon, an appetizer of seared salmon, sushi platter and 6 specialty rolls. We finished all but about one roll worth of food. When we eat in it's solid, but sometimes the takeout person seems a little curt. I get it, they are pretty busy with orders, and it doesn't really bother me because the food is so good. I've both dined in and ordered delivery over the years, it used to be better/larger portions. The quality is good but there is variability - some days the sushi is incredibly delicious, other times it is average. When it's great, it's really amazing. A super solid local sushi spot! The fish is really fresh tasting, they have a good variety of rolls (including vegetarian!). We've only done pickup but they're always friendly and fast. This establishment had very delicious food for early dinner in beautiful Parkslope. The out door dinning was great with everyone following covid 19 protocols. Everyone had masks on, social distancing was perfect and hand sanitizer was available upon entering the restaurant to use the restroom and in the restrooms. My salmon teriyaki with veggies was excellent. The fish was made perfectly medium rear with a lovely Medley of vegetables. The crab dumplings were lovely the dough to create this appetizers were scrumptious the crab meat was awesome very fresh. The dragon roll was yummy. First time I ate at Ten, my party of two dined in. I remember liking the interior of the restaurant: it felt comfortable and classy, not too upscale as to be pretentious, with a pleasant atmosphere. That's important to me. Having enjoyed the food that first time around, I decided today to give them another shot for delivery. My girlfriend and I went for the Triple Sushi combo (3 pcs each tuna, salmon & yellowtail nigiri + spicy salmon roll + salad), an eel+avocado roll, and a crunchy salmon roll. Such is a feast fit for kings. Our meal arrived in a timely fashion, and we opened the packaging to find everything we had hoped for. The fish today was moderately fresh, a bit above average, if nothing to write home about. We gleefully devoured it all. It's worth eating here if you want a predictable, reasonably priced sushi meal. Don't expect anything super special or mind-blowing; just trust your intuition about what sounds good. read more

Honestly an okay place to get sushi if you live around the area and don't feel like traveling to get sushi. I've been coming here for sushi on and off for a few years, basically whenever we want to grab something and don't want to wait for a table. They always seem to have tables so not sure if that's a sign regarding their food. I've tried most of their fancy rolls and over the years, the fish ingredients has shrunk and the fillers becoming more overwhelming. Most of their rolls are starting to sound alike. The sashimi quality is decent but they cut them quite thin. Market price Toro was $12 for 2pc sashimi but you can tell it's really 1pc sliced in half. It was good, nice and buttery, but not sure if it was worth it. Uni was also good, very fresh and sweet. Had a piece of white fish that was rubbery so that was bad and a piece of salmon that tasted too mushy. Overall, an ok place to get traditional rolls if you don't want to travel or wait but definitely not a memorable place to enjoy sushi. read more

Got takeout from here for dinner last night and it was good! After seeing all the positive reviews about the vegetables gyoza, decided to get some and I'm glad I did. The dumplings were succulent and juicy and super tasty..my only gripe is that the dipping sauce was a little on the sweet side. On to sushi, I got the yellowtail scallion roll, the spicy crunch tuna roll, smoked salmon cream cheese roll and the golden dragon roll. The yellowtail was great- fresh fish, good sized pieces and the scallion was just enough for flavor without overpowering the fish. The spicy crunchy tuna was flavorful and not smothered in spicy mayo to the point that you don't taste the fish anymore and I was enjoying it a lot till I bit into a bone. Had it not been for the bone this would've been a fab roll. The smoked salmon roll was good -it's essentially a philly roll with cucumbers. The special roll was very tasty too - the shrimp tempura was perfectly cooked and everything else on it was balanced really well. Happy to have found this place..it'll definitely be a staple from now on for all my sushi needs. read more

I was able to get a same day reservation on a Sunday night and boy was I grateful! Sushi just hits different when its eaten in the restaurant compared to at home from those little black take out trays. These rolls were DELICIOUS and meticulously prepared. I had the 3 roll spicy dinner with modifications, along with a rock shrimp and avocado roll and mochi. My sister and best friend each had special rolls and they looked amazing and well presented. The tables were VERY socially distanced with very few others joining after us. The service was quick, attentive and pleasant. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal and would suggest to anyone else! The one thing I love about ten is their roll flavor combos. They have spicy salmon with apple, asparagus spicy tuna, and Mango eel crunchy rolls. All super super delicious and different. They have delicious special rolls, my favorite being the Green Lady. Sushi has got to be one of the most inspiring food muses ever. It's just so darn intrinsically pretty that its potential for creative plating must be endless. Plus just about every time I eat it, it's so delicious, I ask myself, "Self, why don't you go out for Sushi more often?" Instead, I tend to be irresistibly drawn to the pudgy, doughy, decidedly less lovely likes of dumplings and steamed buns. I guess Sushi just doesn't get me excited (wink) in the same way. But hey, who doesn't like to mix things up once in awhile (another wink)? Anyway, wound up here with hubby and the kid for dinner with another family we hadn't seen in awhile. Place was hoppin' on a Saturday night at around 8 and was really glad we'd made reservations for our party of seven. Wound up getting some sort of Sushi Combo platter and totally dug it. Fish was fresh. Rice didn't fall apart. No complaints. Nice space, too, with a celebratory feel. Everyone else got various Rolls and Sashimi... Hmm... I think I'm getting bored writing this. Honestly, though, it was all good and pretty to look at. When we've got a hankering for Park Slope Sushi, hubby, kid and I usually go to JPan on Fifth Avenue. Ordered the sashimi salad which was super light and tasty. A great starter. Had sashimi, mixed lettuce, tobiko, and this really tasty, tangy lemon dressings 5/5 The broiled black cod was exactly what I was looking for. Sweet and salty and flaked right up . Yum. Also came with some cooked veggies . A pretty small serving but i guess it's supposed to be a starter . 5/5 Last I ordered a spicy salmon hand roll and cut roll. Added avocado to both . Yum! The spicy salmon was just what I was looking for. Delicious. My one complaint was the restaurant was pretty chilly , but I kept on my coat and I pushed through lol. read more

Excellent presentation, generous portions, consistently well prepared dishes. We've had salmon, tempura Udon, sushi platters, katsu, always great! They also have miso black cod as an appetizer. The portions are large enough to share. I find that I end up bringing half of an entree home or am safer ordering an appetizer. This place manages to delight neighborhood kids with the small paper umbrellas in their drinks, sushi, gyoza and siomai. The young girl near us slowly smelled each of her siomai and grudgingly shared it with her brother. The staff gives kids learning chopsticks (banded). While it is very popular, they are often able to squeeze in 2 people. read more

The food is amazing, especially the Tempura. The location is convenient because it's in our neighborhood. However, when you have it delivered, it always comes in BLACK plastic. Black plastic cannot be recycled, and is terrible for the environment. TenJapanese is amazing, but getting delivery is definitely NOT worth it. We will keep going there; we love the food, but we refuse to order it until they use clear plastic only. Employees of TenJapanese, if you see this, keep up the amazing food, but you MUST stop using black plastic. read more

I used to LOVE this place and felt like the quality was truly great. Their tempura was especially delicious. Unfortunately, our last few experiences were sub-par to say the least. I have continually given them the benefit of the doubt but our last take-out order was just so sad. My husband picked up the food on Wednesday (10.28) at 5pm and brought it home. Sushi was fine, nothing to complain about. We ordered TWO servings of mixed vegetable Tempura did have not eggplant, onions, or taro. The green beans were all mushed together and there were a total of 6 pieces for TWO servings which was super disappointing. The seaweed salad used to be so good, fresh, and now its just that generic neon stuff you get from big bins. Another disappointment. But the worst was the Salmon.. they used to cook it well and use fresh vegetables. This time around it was strips of frozen salmon drenched in store-bought teriyaki with frozen vegetables. We threw it out. $120 I used to LOVE this place but its truly lost all the care put into dishes and the quality is no longer worth the price. I hope they will return to using better ingredients, it was such a wonderful place. For now I'll pass. read more

I've ordered from them multiple times and sat down in the restaurant as well. My favorite thing to order there hands down is the vegetable gyozo dumplings made in house. They also make the sauce for the vegetable gyozo dumplings in house. The sushi is always BOMB, I like the avocado inside out, even though they charge a dollar extra. The sweet potato tempura roll is also really good and I highly recommend it. Staff is okay, I was just displeased with the service when I ate there I saw they gave the couple next to us like a cleaning wipe before they ate and they never did that for us. I don't recommend the deserts the lava cake was okay but tasted a bit generic. I like the detail they put into presentation. Some sushi rolls come really elaborately decorated like with light globe thing on the plate. One of there most famous rolls is the Christmas tree roll which my friend loved. All the specialty rolls are very good. The kani salad is also supposedly yummy from what my friend said. All in all, they are my regular sushi spot and if you live in Park slope go there. read more

Ten is one of my favorite sushi places in Park slope. I've never had any bad experiences from them. The sushi is always good and very fresh. They also get creative with their presentation which I love. Nothing makes me happier than some good sushi with some beautiful decoration. They have this one roll called the rock shrimp avocado which is my favorite. It is so yummy and the sauce they put on it works perfectly with it. I wish I knew what kind of sauce it is but I don't. The atmosphere is kinda very nice. It has a very relaxing feel to it. They also have a little bar in the restaurant so you can have a variety of different drinks. I've only tried the sake which I don't really drink but I enjoyed. They have a lot of different sake as well. Will be going back soon to try some more. read more

Ordered delivery from here a few times. I tried the toro roll once, which was ok but very small. Also got the smoked salmon, cream cheese, asparagus roll which was also tiny being that it costs $7. Also, one of the sushi pieces was missing fish. My miso soup also tasted off. It came piping hot so I was a little nervous the plastic might've melted. Giving 3 instead of 2 stars because their combo rolls and chicken teriyaki are better. Also don't get the sushi with brown rice. The rice is weird.. read more
