Contrary to the disclaimer on this page, Inaka is OPEN. I just went this past weekend and had a really lovely experience. Firstly, the sushi was great--lots of variety, fresh and they didn't overdo it on the sauce which I really appreciated. Secondly, they have hibachi options which is so fun! I had the tofu hibachi with fried rice, somehow they fried silken tofu to perfection without losing any silkenness...incredible. Finally, the ambiance was quite nice--the staff was so sweet and attentive and the interior was clean and comfortable. This was my first time at Inaka but I will surely be back. read more

I ordered a 3 roll lunch special for take out and have to say I am very disappointed in the quality of the meal. I order two shrimp tempura rolls (spicy and regular) and an eel avocado. We love the Crazy tuna roll (hot tip- substitute the crunch for jalapeño - saves a few calories and adds a slight kick)! The 3 roll special is a fantastic deal and the fish was fresh. Such a great value at an affordable cost! I ordered the lunch special to go. For $12, I got a salad, soup, sushi roll, fried rice, edamame, and Shrimp Tempura. The Shrimp Tempura was really good! It was dipped in a special sauce. The sushi rolls were very fresh. This is definitely a great place for take out. I've ordered food for delivery twice from here and also ate in at lunch once. The fish is pretty fresh, and they use reasonable sized portions in their rolls. The lunch special of 3 rolls with soup and salad for $11.50 is a great deal. However, I wish I had known that the shrimp tempura roll is mainly cucumber! Why?? I could not even taste the shrimp tempura, since 2/3 of the filling was julienned cukes!! The vanderbilt roll was tasty, with a healthy portion of soft shell crab, and when you order a spicy salmon roll, the entire roll is filled with salmon. My main gripe with these rolls was that the "spicy" was just not present. It tasted more like ground up, on-its-way-to-be-raw-fish-pate salmon rather than spicy salmon. I had also ordered the "spicy girl roll" and it was NOT. SPICY. AT. ALL. Very unhappy. Just please please make it spicy! Throw in some sriracha or something! read more

Ordered the chicken katsu bento box lunch special - because I have a shellfish allergy, I asked for them to substitute the California Roll with a vegetarian roll in the notes on Seamless. The order came with a California roll. I called the restaurant to have it remedied, the person on the phone said they didn't see any note and that they use imitation crab anyway so it shouldn't be a problem. This is not the case, it's not safe for someone with a shellfish allergy and suggesting that is quite insensitive. I told her that I would be willing to wait for her to send a new order that didn't include the California Roll. She said there was no driver and that I should just call Seamless. If you have a shellfish allergy - I would avoid this place because they clearly do not take it seriously. read more

Solid delivery sushi place that I'd order from again, but definitely hasn't earned a place in my standard rotation. Weeknight delivery usually falls within the window quoted, which is often 60-70 minutes (so it's on the slow side, but you're forewarned). Generally speaking, the nigiri is quite good -- the fish seems fresh, and the rice is usually still warm when it arrives, so that's a plus in my book. The rolls, however, can be pretty foul. Granted, my experience is limited to those which accompany the nigiri in one of the combos (one of the sushi platters or dinners), but they are still inexcusably gross. The sushi platter, for example, comes with the "godzilla" roll, which is "tuna" smashed up into a tasteless paste, accompanied by equally bland and soft avocado, surrounded by chewy seaweed. It's like eating glue, with maybe less flavor. Chirashi might be the way to go here -- I just wish they would put some better rolls in the sushi combos. read more

They do not skimp on the amount of food given and they definitely give enough soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger, which is much appreciated! Love that I could substitute brown rice with my choices. We were excited for this place to open. After living on Vanderbilt for 2 years, the opening of a Japanese restaurant (with lots of sushi options) was met with much fanfare in our house. We were not disappointed. While we have only been to Inaka for brunch, it is clear that we will return. Brunch was inexpensive ($13.95) for a soup, salad, appetizer, and main course. Also, you can get a soda, juice, or beer with that brunch. A great deal. The salad was gingery and tangy and the miso soup hot and salty. A bonus was the addition of enoki mushrooms in the soup. For appetizers, we had mixed tempura and shumai. The former was not too oily, nicely crispy, and delectable. The shumai were briny and moist, and boy were they delicious. For the main course we had several rolls and sashimi, all of which was fresh and amazing. Beyond a brief snafu in service, which was not that bad considering this place just opened, we thought Inaka deserved its 5 stars. Did we mention the hip decor and very nice staff? A little more expensive than the sushi in the area, but well worth it. The mango basil fried rice is off the chain. As a non sushi person, this is the tastiest thing on the menu. Other notables are the beef teriyaki, shrimp tempura, and chicken katsu. It's not your usual shrimp tempura, it's in pieces and smothered in some special sauce. Th fried ice cream is an excellent way to top it all off. I went on grubhub, and the food was seemingly here before I clicked enter. An additional point is the large potions they give.
