I went to Tend due to being new to the area and having a dental emergency of a chipped tooth. My other dental office is three hours away and closed due to weather so I couldn't get my x-rays sent immediatly. Everyone was very kind and professional- greeting, check in and scheduling was all fine. Where Tend falls apart is the integration into a giant dental machine where people are treated in a pipeline and not really treated on a patient by patient basis. They require as a new patient full dental X-rays of your entire mouth because you are new to the practice. They will not clean or provide any service without these X-rays. I understand this is their policy but in my situation having my recent x-rays sent was not possible the day of the appointment. I also just had x-rays performed at my other office and I do not want another does of repeat radiation or the additional, unnecessary cost. Again, this is the business policy, not necessarily the dentist. Unfortunately my chip needed to be evaluated and so I asked if the dentist would still be willing to even look at the chip in my enamel. They said the dentist could look at it but he would require an X-ray before he would even look at the tooth. I asked if he could even look at it superficially- I have no pain, I believe it's a simple enamel chip (My teeth hit each other while I was chewing, there was no traumatic injury to my face or mouth and no previous work done on this tooth). The dentist would not look at my tooth without preliminary X-rays. The thing about visiting Tend is that they will ask you (or your insurance) to pay quite a bit up front to even have the *privilege* of even speaking with a dentist there about an issue. I CLEARLY understand X-rays would be necessary to give a complete evaluation and create a care plan for my teeth. I was asking for a conversation with the actual dentist so I could prepare for then necessary x-rays and potential treatment plans. Tend's answer was "no". Requiring X-rays for anyone to even look at my mouth feels like "gotcha' medicine to me. Once they 'gotcha' for the X-rays you are already established and locked in for the treatment plan. I don't know my assigned dentist, I have never worked with them. I need to at least meet the dentist instead of trusting in a giant dental conglomerate oriented making money and not patient care. There's lots of other dentists who will talk to patients in Buckhead before start a comprehensive treatment plan. I suggest going to them before going to Tend. I wasn't impressed with the way patients are treated at Tend: with treatment plans and rules that are oriented around dollars, not people. read more

I do not recommend this place at all!! I had a re-chipped tooth. One that I had from when I was 14 years old, last me perfectly until I was 34 when my dog's head bumped me in the mouth. I decided to give Tend a chance bc it was near my work. The work is absolutely terrible. As you can see in the picture it is not discolored. It's also not flush to my natural tooth. The dentist that did the job was not even employed there later when I went to get it redone. They never followed up with me about it-I would avoid this place if you need cosmetic dentistry! read more

Tend Dental at the Buckhead location, lacks quality patient care. They have a very high dentist turnover. I've seen doctors come and go within only months. Because of the constant staff changes, treatment feels inconsistent and unorganized. The current dentist, Dr. Wendell Campbell, came across as nonchalant and uncaring about patient concerns based on my experience during my visit. In addition, the dental assistant was unprofessional and unpolished in her manner. What was weird is the dentist seemed to do what the dental assistant said instead of vice versa. Some of the staff are dismissive and unprofessional, which leaves patients feeling unheard and uncomfortable. I started there in August 2023 with an ask of closing a small gap near the left canine with Invisalign...to be fixed in 22 trays/~10 months. Great, right? WRONG!! I am now going into the THIRD set of trays, the FOURTH or FIFTH doctor and my teeth still aren't properly straightened. Very, very high turnover. The original ortho left before my second appointment! I suspected then, but now I KNOW. I should have cancelled the whole thing. You can't call the office directly to schedule an appt or say you're running late. The phone is a call center in NYC or Phillipines, I think, and they relay your concerns to the local office if there are any questions beyond a simple time/date. The three hygenists I've seen are all fantastic (The doctors...not so much), although all they do is a regular cleaning and charge insurance for periodontal scaling or "deep clean." It's all a scam! I feel like Tend knows I have good insurance and I'm just a conduit for milking my insurance company. Move around and find somewhere else. I have been here at least 5 times over the past few months as I got a lot of work done. The staff are kind and caring. I am on crutches and the staff did all they could to help and accommodate me. TLDR - Major scam alert. They claimed I had two cavities and wanted to pull out one of my teeth, but I did not have any cavities. I visited a while ago against my better judgement; my mother is a dental hygienist, and I grew up getting regular cleanings/ polishes/ etc at her office, which is dentist-owned (i.e. not a chain). I usually would not have tried Tend, but I needed a very routine cleaning and didn't feel like driving home to Middle GA for a basic procedure. The location itself is as pretty as the photos show, although the room I was in wasn't very clean; the decor was like lipstick on a pig. My hygienist took an endless number of photos and X-rays, most of which are unnecessary and uncomfortable. The dentist then came in for the exam and reported that I had two cavities, one of them on my wisdom tooth (I have all four and have never had any issues, so there's been no reason to remove them). She told me I could get them filled or have my wisdom tooth completely removed. This began the string of attempts to upsell things to me claiming I had gingivitis and that I needed several additional products and treatments. I insisted against everything but a basic cleaning and let the dentist know I would go home for the fillings. Two weeks later, I took a day off from work to drive back home for my fillings. The dentist looked at my recent X-rays, followed by an exam, and immediately let me know that I DID NOT HAVE ANY CAVITIES. The 'cavities' were actually just discoloration, which is completely normal for the areas of these supposed cavities (in the pit of the wisdom tooth and in between two of my molars). She could see nothing in my X-rays to indicate why a dentist would claim to see a cavity, and she told me that there was absolutely nothing wrong and I did not need any fillings. A full day of PTO and three hours of driving, down the toilet. Ask your local dentist how many young people come home from college over the holidays claiming to have cavities after visiting a chain like Tend, only to be told that nothing is there. These places prey on patients who don't know any better to pay for procedures that are completely unnecessary. If I didn't have a relationship with my dentist back home, I would have fallen victim to this SCAM and paid for two fillings (and god forbid the full wisdom tooth extraction that they tried to sell me) in two perfectly healthy teeth. Yes, they will drill into your mouth for no reason other than money. Your dentist should not be upselling you on procedures/ products. Tend Buckhead repeatedly missed the mark with my daughter. She started going to them in early 2024. Each time she was scheduled upon going to the office they were not prepared to give the service. I called and spoke with the office manager and I was told the error was due to a third party. Tend would continue to schedule appointments and not be ready to complete the service. The manager said she would review the bill and make the necessary discount for the inconvenience. Instead of presenting my daughter with a bill they called and asked could they put the charges on the card on file. I advised to wait for my husband to call. They waited until the end of the day and left us a voice mail that said they were placing the charges on the card. They did not have approval nor do we know the amount. It was so disappointing to have agreed upon a plan with the dentist, signed the bill, and then to have a business manger come back and say the plan had changed completely, and that they were now recommending crowns, when there was plenty of enamel remaining and the teeth were otherwise healthy. They also said they would redo the bonding for free in the first year, the dentist confirmed that with me when I met with her, but after talking with the business manager changed her mind. I don't leave one stars often but I'm extremely dissatisfied with the lack of communication and customer service I received. When I booked my first appointment, I put everything on file. I scheduled this appointment weeks in advanced and took off work. First app, I get there, they are telling me my insurance doesn't cover cleanings. I was annoyed because 1. Why didn't I receive a call prior to this appointment to sort this out? If I'm uploading insurance info, then obviously I'm assuming I have insurance coverage. 2. My dental insurance does cover cleanings and I had to call my insurance to let them tell them. This should've been sorted out prior to my appointment not bamboozle me on the day of my appointment. I loved the dental tech which is why i decided to come back. I had to have a procedure which they told me the out of pocket I would pay. Cool. I paid it. Scheduled my cleaning 2weeks later. Show up to my appt and boom there's an issue. Like you called to tell me you changed my appointment but couldn't call me to tell me about a balance I didn't know I even owed?? I didn't bring my FSA and requested if I can pay online with my card as I hate having to submit things for reimbursement. Bottom line they dropped the ball twice leaving me frustrated. I've been coming to this Tend location for over 2 years and I have nothing but wonderful things to say. My hygienist, Colitha, is FANTASTIC! She's incredibly kind and patient. She does a great job of explaining what she's doing, why she's doing it, and answering any questions you may have. I've had a few different dentists but I think my main one is Dr. Donna W. She's also great and thorough with her explanations too and I've never had any issues with any of the other dentists I've encountered. I've mostly had cleanings here (maybe a filling or two) but the process has been smooth every time. I've also taken advantage of their referral program and referred my boyfriend and a few of my friends. Parking is in the Buckhead Village parking garage (beneath the building) so make sure to have them validate your ticket for free parking before leaving. Overall, Tend is a 10/10 and I'll continue recommending them to everyone I know! read more

I'd like to share my experience with Tend Dental Buckhead to raise awareness. In August 2023, I visited for a cleaning and was recommended scaling and a crown, which I agreed to. The total cost was around $1100 after insurance. However, the experience wasn't positive. The procedure took two visits, with the second lasting four hours for the crown. The dentist struggled to get it right, leading to infection and weeks of pain around the crowned tooth. This wasn't my first crown, and it was notably more challenging. Fast forward to June 2024, I received an email stating I owed Tend $300 more. My Cigna PPO insurance didn't cover what Tend anticipated, and they advised me to take it up with my insurer. This is frustrating, as in my 40 years of dental treatment, I've never had insurance fail to cover claims, especially given the procedure was very common. It's also concerning that I received this bill unexpectedly, almost missing it assuming it was an error. When contacted by Tend, they suggested I should appeal with insurance and i should read my insurance's EOB for the reasoning. I did but honestly it was not plain English and a waste of time. I went to Tend for their fancy marketing and thinking it was going to be efficient and pain free... definitely not in my case. Will never go back. read more

Horribly unorganized, frustrating, and not helpful. My journey with Tend Buckhead started in August and I am still having to deal with their errors today in April. I setup a cleaning and when I got there they ended up trying to reschedule me for a different day. They then found a cancellation and they said that I needed to come back later that day and my cleaning would be split into two days because they wanted to get a deeper cleaning done. The doctor barely talked to me and came up with a list of all these things that needed to happened, she never consulted with me and the whole time I felt like I was inconveniencing them even though I had made, the appointment. I felt like the dentist was just trying to make as much money as possible. I came back a few days later for my second cleaning and they had me scheduled for a filling even though I had confirmed that I was coming in for a cleaning. They told me they didn't have the staff to do the cleaning and that I would need to come next month (after my insurance ended). I am not sure what happened but after waiting over an hour someone became available to do the cleaning if they did it quickly. Everything was rushed again. They wanted to book me for a fourth appointment and I told them no, I would be moving. Then at the end of the year I get a charge for a missed appointment. I couldn't reach the office but had to spend several hours to finally connect with someone in NYC. He said he really doubted that was the case but after looking into it he did see that they never sent me any confirmations about the appointment. So he credited me the charge. Now today, 8 months later I find out that all of my insurance claims are not valid because the itemized receipts I requested are lacking my name. I am still waiting on the correct paperwork even though they said they were sending it. I wasn't going to review them but today was the final point. Do not go to them. read more

Very happy that I chose this business as my new dental office. It's been a couple weeks since my first visit and I'm still thinking about how clean and efficient it was. Yes, it's a bigger business and not the local town dental office but at Tend you get smooth, friendly, and easy care from top to bottom. I saw Dr. Kim and she was straight forward and got me in and out quickly even when I had to get a couple fillings done for the first time. I appreciate that there was none of the awkward questioning or talking while my mouth was pried open. Don't want to leave out mentioning the hygienist I had too because she was so sweet and had the best attitude! -cleaning + exam took about 1 hour -fillings took about 20 mins - I walked to this location but I was asked if I needed parking validated so that's nice for people driving in -you can view your chart and dental images on the app! Avoid This Office - Dishonest Billing & Dangerous Recommendations DO NOT GO HERE. SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY AND PAIN. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was so alarming that I feel obligated to warn others. At first, my initial visit seemed promising--great service and helpful information. I was diagnosed with needing two root canals, multiple fillings, and removal of an impacted wisdom tooth. I left with a treatment plan totaling around $4,000. However, when I returned for my root canal, I was handed a completely different treatment plan with unexplained changes. When I asked for clarification, no one in the office--including the management--could explain why the treatment plan had changed or where these discrepancies came from. Then I checked my insurance claims. They had billed and received payment for services they NEVER performed. As for the wisdom tooth extraction, I was told an oral surgeon visits the office once a month and could remove my impacted wisdom tooth under local anesthesia. This is highly unusual for a deep bony impaction, but they reassured me it was "routine" and that I'd be fine as long as I didn't have anxiety--which is an absurd and reckless claim. Thankfully, my mom (a dental hygienist) reviewed my X-ray and immediately warned me against proceeding. She said, "They would butcher you, and you would be awake to feel it." I got a second opinion, and I'm so glad I did. The oral surgeon I consulted informed me that my wisdom tooth is dangerously close to my facial nerve, meaning that if not extracted with extreme precision, I could suffer permanent nerve damage. This new surgeon strongly recommended IV sedation or even general anesthesia due to the complexity of the procedure. This office also charged me twice as much as any other practice for my root canal and kept a $200 deposit that I have yet to receive back. Bottom line? This place prioritizes money over patient safety. The office may look nice and modern, but the business practices are deceptive, unethical, and potentially dangerous. I had been going to Tend for two years for routine cleanings without issue, but when my crown cracked, everything changed. The first appointment was fine, but since I'm pregnant, I had to wait for medical clearance before proceeding. When I returned, things went downhill fast. The person working on my tooth seemed completely untrained--like it was her first day. She was rough, rude, and unclear about next steps. I had to schedule yet another appointment. At the next visit, the doctor numbed me but started drilling before I was fully numb. I laid there in tears--I've never been in so much pain in my life. To make matters worse, the hygienist assisting also seemed like a total beginner. Do they hire people with no experience?? She placed a temporary tooth that fell out within an hour. Save your time and money - I have been to all of the Tend locations in Atlanta and have grievances about each one. This is definitely the worst one out of the 3, by FAR. The staff are always rude. The dentist (which constantly changes by the way because this company has issues with staff retention) feels like a scam artist. I was told I cannot opt out of upcharges like fluoride but then when I pressed on it and said I would walk out, then they said, okay it's optional. Then they tried to sell me toothpaste until I, one again, pressed on it and refused. They had a shadowing student who didn't introduce herself and just kept poking my mouth uncomfortably. My experience with Tend has been extremely disappointing. I received a text message stating, "Rohit, we still need to confirm tomorrow's visit to Tend. Confirm now:". I didn't confirm the appointment as they were asking for a lot of information that I didn't have readily available. To my surprise, I was charged a $100 'no-show fee' despite not confirming the visit. What's worse is that there's no clear way to contact the department responsible for handling these fees, leaving me frustrated and unable to resolve the issue. For a company that claims to be 'tech-enabled,' their processes feel disjointed and inefficient. There's an offshore support center that said that they're unable to help but will escalate via email (am I the only one who dislikes not being able connect with anyone over the phone at a dentistry?) this but couldn't really help me out whatsoever (even though that's the helpdesk number they share in the email). It's ironic that I got this fee notice via email and text message right at around 12:25pm but I never got a text saying that my visit was confirmed. My wife is currently a customer at Tend, but after this experience, I'll be advising her to switch to a dentistry that isn't owned by private equity or venture capital firms, as the focus here seems to be on profit rather than patient care (which seems like a theme with PE/VC backed dentistry nowadays). read more

From booking my appointment online and being able to choose the type of flavor that I want from my polish and the show that I would like to watch as they do, my treatment had me stunned. I met with my hygienist Trang, and she was amazing. Her bedside manner is exactly what everyone should experience. She explained all that I needed to know about my cleaning that I was having done. She explained my x-rays and gave me advice on brushing. I felt comfortable, no judgment, and very relaxed. The team at Tend is very knowledgeable. I left there with a clear plan of what I will do moving forward. They even gave me a cute take away back. I look forward to my next appointment with them very soon. Oh yes! What a phenomenal dental experience. The staff was extremely friendly and you get to wear Warby Parker sunglasses and beats headphones during your visit. You get to choose your toothpaste flavor ahead of time AS WELL as what you'd like to watch on the tv during your visit. My insurance covered the cost of my exam/cleaning and only my cavities were out of pocket (roughly $250 for 2 fillings). I'm telling everyone to go here. I got to wear Warby Parker sunnies to protect my eyes and had Beats to listen to a show of my choice. We discussed my plan on tv, so green, no wasted paper. They even scheduled my appt. I have been fighting this place for month on Better Business Bureau (you can see it, its public info) because they billed all my cleanings as "perio maintenance", so none of it has been covered! When i alerted them to this error they ALWAYS write "our records show you told the Dr on your 1st appt that you had this treatment". When I reply- no I didn't because I don't know what that treatment is and also even if i did say it, a responsible office calls the insurance to verify- Tend outright accuse me of lying and repeatedly says "well you told the Dr that you had it". They said this to me more than 8 times in communications, you can see it all in the BBB chain. Pathetic, no customer service, predatory billing practices, new hygienists every time i go because turnover is so high! Tend is terrible. First they were late, then, they take absolutely forever to do nothing. Like I had been there an hour and then they said the dentist will see me, which was odd bc my teeth hadn't been cleaned yet. They say no he makes the plan, which in 35 years has never been the process at any other dentist. The plus is that everyone was very polite and professional. However, I went there for dental care, not a social experience, and that is where Tend failed miserably. The dentist missed a tooth cracked due to teeth-grinding that put me in emergency dental care and required a crown 10 days later. They could have saved me a lot of time, effort, and pain if they had been paying attention to my teeth instead of trying to upsell me on a bunch of treatments I didn't need. Billing transparency is also an issue; request a breakdown of your bill. This has clearly been a problem with Tend, judging from other reviews. In sum, Tend may be chic, but dentistry is about care of your teeth, not Instagram moments; find a neighborhood dentist who knows what they're doing. read more

I can not say enough about how great my experience was with this dental office. I have had 3 appointments in the last month (1 Emergency appointment and 2 for a deep cleaning). Scheduling was simple and easy. For all 3 appointments the staff was very respectful of my time. I did not have to wait more than 3-4 mins after check-in before being seen. The dental hygienist I saw initially for the clean was thorough and made things as comfortable for me as possible. I am resistant to anesthesia so she took time to ask the dentist to use additional novocaine. I got a little anxious when my initial hygienist was unavailable for my second appointment, but her colleague stepped in and was just as kind gentle and thorough. I could not be happier with the quality of service provide by both hygienists as well as Dr. Wilkerson. I am very grateful. Many thanks. read more

I started going to Tend while living in NYC & was thrilled to discover a location in Buckhead. My first experience was the total opposite of what I was used to in NYC. I had an unpleasant experience with the hygienist & actually walked out of the exam room before she had a chance to really get started. The front desk staff was very helpful in assigning me to another hygienist, and she ended up being LOVELY! After my cleaning the manager asked to speak with me to get more feedback & I truly felt heard. She even gave me a Starbucks gift card. The corporate office even reached out to me & sent me a care package full of Tend goodies (electric toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss,etc) I've had multiple appointments at this location since & they have all been great & met the high standard of what I was used to. For this reason I still refer everyone I know to Tend! They make going to the dentist as pleasant as it can be. Maybe the rain coupled with just opening was the cause but it was not the Tend experience I'm accustomed to. I typically visit the Ponce City Market location, but this location worked better for my schedule. I went in for a consultation and it was such a lack luster experience and the doctor just seemed so annoyed and bothered. My appointment started 30mins late, due to the room not being cleaned. I scheduled a routine cleaning. Apparently due to their policies I would need a deep cleaning and fillings replaced with crowns. I was in the dentist chair for over an hour just to be told that it would be over 10k for all the work that needed to be done. Insurance was picking up the majority of the work that they wanted me to spend. After this appointment with Tend I spoke to my last dentist and sent over all the paper work I was given from Tend... Surprise... Surprise not a bit of the work was necessary. Look for more local dental care, they are just trying to hit their bonuses on bookings. read more

I went to TEND Buckhead to get bonding on my tooth. The bonding didn't take and was out on Sunday So back to a chopped tooth. I didn't bite anything wrong because I was told to me careful. After athe bonding I was given no instructions by the dentist as she finished and walked away. Not even a good bye or do you have any questions for me. I called today which is Monday to schedule another visit and was told I had to be seen by the same dentist and if not I would have to pay again. What a SCAM! I had the bonding for a day! Now the dentist won't be there for a week so they say I will have to see about scheduling you another dentist but I don't know if it will be complimentary or if you would have to pay. Like what?!?! It was literally two days ago. This place sucks and I tried to not go by the reviews but I should have known. Won't be going here ever again! read more

I have an amazing experience every time I come to Tend, and I should know since I visit the dentist more than the average person - I do cleanings every 3 months. A few years ago when I was stressed out from moving across country from Atlanta to Los Angeles, I allowed my dental hygiene to slip, mostly because I did not have a new dentist to trust in LA. My original dentist in Atlanta I visited for 14 years. They stopped taking insurance, so I began to feel like a dollar sign and not a loyal patient. I'm a committed person and we know how stressful dentists' offices can be. At Tend, I am treated like the human being I am with a unique treatment plan and specific needs I express. I am confident in saying I feel all of my needs are met and I am well "Tend"-ed to! *see what I did there * Do yourself a favor and visit the team at Tend today.
