The staff was really friendly and there seemed to be a lot of regulars coming in. I would of liked if they sold a combo meat platter to try out their selection but it's only available on friday. The prices seemed reasonable for what they offered. I Ordered the last slab of mild ribs, a brisket sandwich, and side of Mac & cheese. It Was probably about a 25 MIN wait. Unfortunately I wont be going back. The ribs and brisket was DRENCHED in sauce. We had to wipe the ribs off with paper towels. The sauce tastes ok but very sugary. The ribs were thick but were very fatty and mushy. We only had a couple bites of the brisket. The sauce was just too much. Only because I would like for this business to do well. I offer a few humble observations. As said in another review. The quality of service is not at it's best. I recall the very first time I visited. The owner was there. He was welcoming and engaging. I don't get that anymore. I need to also mention the consistency of the food is hit or miss, it has been sometimes dry sometimes bland. Finally, I personally would like it if you didn't make me drive 25 minutes to find that you are out of the very thing I drove there for. I saw the article in the news journal and went there on a weekend. Best place for BBQ that I've come across in a long time.

I drove 1/2hr for a cheesesteak to be told it would take "awhile" so I decided to get something else. Waited almost 50 minutes for an order. I guess I should of placed my order then drove up to pick it up. Needless to say wasn't really impressed with the BBQ style food and the parking wasn't all that well put together either. The food is supposed to be really good but I'll never know. I stopped by and placed an order for a chopped sandwich. I paid and the cashier told me she would call when the order was ready and to wait in my car. 30 minutes later and still no sandwich. I went back in to ask how much longer it would take and was completely ignored by the cashier. She helped several people before me and wouldn't even acknowledge my questions. I was trying to be patient and understanding but man- worst customer service ever. I never did get a call and never did get my sandwich, even though I already paid. The food is delicious if you can get it. They are out of food by noon daily. You have to put your order in as soon as they open.

They have the longest wait periods ever! They tell you a time like come and pick up your order by 2:30 my food wasn't don't until 3:30pm! I waited a Whole hour for my food. This past week is the first time that I tried Tender Bones Rib Shack. I stopped in between the lunch hour and dinner hour. It was a weekday, and there were no customers. That should have told me something! I ordered the Brisket sandwich and the Pork sandwich. I was the only customer, and it still took about 15 minutes. The Brisket was the worst that I have ever had. It was dry, tough, and full of gristle, smothered in a too sweet bbq sauce. It was obviously microwaved too long. For $9.00, it was a ripoff! Somebody needs to teach these guys how to do bbq! The Pork sandwich wasn't much better, being full of gristle. Save your money because you can get a better pulled pork sandwich from Dominics in Elkton, cheaper and loaded with more meat! Got to the place after a lot of anticipation based on word of mouth about the quality of the food only to be disappointed. The reason for the disappointment was that although the doors open at 11 am the main item I wanted Ribs were not going to be available until 12:30. Now the name of the place is Tender Bones Rib Shack yet they did not have any ribs ready when they opened. To me that is like KFC not having chicken. So I can not say the ribs were good or bad because I am not willing to wait over an hour for food. read more

We went there on a Tuesday evening. Called at 6pm since we had hear there was a long wait. We were told 30 minutes. We got there in 30 minutes and proceeded to wait another hour and 10 minutes. Very inefficient. Person not dedicated to the front counter. Tons of people waiting and no one giving any updates on their orders. One lady had called in her order at 4:00 and at 7 finally got her cheesesteak. Hire someone to work the front only. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, I should've known better. The service has been horrible since 2019. I began going to this establishment in July 2018 and it started off well. After a few visits to this location, the service began to decline exponentially. The owner, Chef Bones, tries to entertain and talk to the customers in an effort to take your mind off the extremely lengthy wait time upwards of 45 minutes or more to get food. His cashier Sara is extremely rude and has no proper training in professionally handling customers with care. In July 2020, I ordered over the phone in the past and arrived 30 minutes later to ensure I wouldn't have to wait and when I arrive to pay, it's as if my order was never started. In addition, I witnessed the chef get food together for certain customers that entered the store and ordered in person after I'd been waiting for 20 minutes or more and they'd leave immediately with food. This was the second time I'd been turned off by this place and vowed never to come back. Fast forward to my final visit in August 2021, I noticed that my typical $50 order now has less food offerings and pricing has been inflated... what a rip off... the new cashier was very unpleasant to say the least and when I asked how long the food would take, she shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know, she wasn't the cook! This is after I paid!!! I couldn't believe it could get any worst at this place. And to top it all off, when we went back in after waiting 25 minutes for our food, she did not give us everything I ordered which resulted in me having. To go back into the store and get all of my food! They left out two large orders... unbelievable. My guess is they had food that was already made because I didn't have to wait at all for my order to be given to me as she quickly gathered up what I was owed. As the young lady who gave me my food, I checked the food again and it was still incorrect! In the end, she made it right and the young lady in the kitchen who prepared the food apologized for the mix up but the cashier didn't even acknowledge that she recorded the meal incorrectly but charged me appropriately and she tried to keep my receipt. When I asked for it back, she then proceeded to write on my receipt, 3 items missing but received. Like that was going to change the fact she messed up.The food isn't even good enough to deal with all of this. Each visit to this establishment I would spend $50-$80 but never ever again. I hope this helps someone in deciding whether to patronize this place. They don't answer the phones for call ahead orders and the food I was missing that was supposed to be made to order was not fresh and was tough to chew. I phoned in my order in at 11:30 on a Sunday morning and was intending to pick it up on the way home. I had ordered cheese steaks, ribs and a burger and was told it would be ready at 1:30. The whole family was coming over for lunch today. I live less than a mile from there so it wasn't a big deal to go home first and go out again to pick it up. I got there at 1:15 so I could pay and be ready to go when the order was ready. The wait area was so hot I was drenched in sweat by 1:45 when they finally got around to ringing me up. I wanted to love this place, but I was pretty underwhelmed with the quality of the food. The wait amounted to a little over an hour, so I thought "this must be the real deal." The chicken wings were burnt and tasteless. The ribs were not all that tender or flavorful. The Cole slaw was pretty good, but the Mac and pie were subpar. After spending over $40 and the waiting a good bit, this is probably a 1st and last for me. The owner seems pretty charismatic, but it didn't make up for the wait or food quality. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! The worst cheesesteak I've ever had. Whoever's raving about the cheesesteak hasn't had a real cheesesteak yet. Me & the hubby just went there yesterday & looked at the menu & cheesesteak is NOT on the menu. We assumed it's probably because it's not real steak meat & possibly some other type of animal. There was something that definitely tasted OFF about the meat & that's probably why it's not on the menu. It didn't even smell like good ole cheesesteaks were being cooked in there while they were cooking it, like u would normally smell at a food place thats cooking cheesesteaks all day. And the so-called cheesesteak itself, when they gave it to us also did not smell like a cheesesteak either. Taste was very off-putting, very bland, no seasoning at all, overloaded with bell peppers & the onions were way undercooked & near raw. And they have the nerve to be calling it a dam Philly cheesesteak. We were so disappointed. We didn't feel safe eating the rest of it, so It went in the trash. Definitely overrated. Will never go back. We would've been happier with Hardee's. For a good cheesesteak in Delaware, Millers Ale house is the next best thing. read more

Mixed review from me. One the one hand, the fried chicken was amazing. Seriously hands down the best I've ever had. And the corn bread was delicious, too. Buttery and crumbly. On the other hand, the brisket was not that great (I adore brisket and try it everywhere to find the best one I can). My son and husband liked it, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I found it dry and it was not like the picture posted in another review. It was sliced very thin and seemed more like roast beef (although it did have a great smoke ring). The wait is seriously no joke. One time, I waited 30+ minutes, and another time, 40+ minutes. Both times, they ran out of a majority of the options. There is no way I would just pop in here again due to the wait and lack of knowing what food they had. I think that it's a great option for calling ahead, finding out what they have, and then ordering and picking it up. read more

I am thoroughly impressed with this establishment. Each time the service wows me. The owner/chef is personable and greets the customers with a welcoming smile and greeting. I love that it's right in my backyard too! There are ao many examples I can give but was in there one day and a patron shared with him that his father had been ill and kept having strokes. Tender bones was a great eat in take out when it first opened. food was awesome besides the wait was extremely long two hour wait. So I decided to not go back for a while b/c the wait was always long when going. went today 9/5 and the food was horrible chicken wings were way to big and not seasoned at all. Mac & cheese was not great! And I got a peach cobbler for the win that was the worst very syrupy & was way to sweet I'm assuming they use brown sugar cause it was way to dark very little peaches and no crust mainly syrup. The beef ribs and cheesesteaks are the best if I shall go back that what I will stick too.
