Dave's #3 1 Tender & 1 Slider w/ Fries
Julie M.

I'm glad that despite the name being Dave's "hot" chicken they still have chicken with no spice. I got the #3 which comes with a slider sandwich and a tender with fries. The fries are crisp on the outside and soft in the middle which is just how I like a krinkle fry to be. The sandwich was good! It's a smaller tender inside a small bun. The tenders are pretty big and dipped in the Dave's sauce makes the taste buds dance. My friend got the Mac and cheese side which was delicious! Perfect amount of cheese. Service was interesting, he did answer my questions but definitely annoyed and didn't want to be there. Very busy spot today! Only a few tables inside and they do allow for picks up from online ordering.

Decent fried chicken. I actually tried a different Dave's location for the first time recently and was so impressed that I came here a few days later! I think the trick to getting the "best" chicken here is you got to have it fresh. Eat it as soon as possible. I made the mistake of bringing it home and it was not as good as the other location where I ate my meal right away. Also, ask for extra sauce if you like to dip ;)

Service is poor, lack of acknowledgement and cheeriness. Not many fries were given. Surrounded by other food spots as well, area is good.

First time at Dave's Hot Chicken earlier. I must say first impression was great. The shop is open with bold coloring. The cashier was all smiles; very friendly. We were served right away. I ordered 4 sliders coming with fries and drink. The sliders were awesome. The only negative was I was not expecting bite size sliders; I guess I didn't read thoroughly. Fries were really spiced nicely and I did enjoy their sauce.

TL;DR: Do you like fried chicken? Do you like spicy food? If you answered "yes" to one of the previous questions, go here - no question! Even if you can't handle heat, you have a "Lite Mild" or a "No Spice" option. The chicken is cooked to perfection and complimented wonderfully by the sauce and coleslaw. Storytime: I may have mentioned in an earlier review that my parents are immigrants, and I am a first-generation American. Among the things I've introduced my parents to are football, rock music, and spicy food. (not an exhaustive list) When my folks saw me putting hot sauce on [almost] everything, they couldn't understand it. In their minds, heat = overpowering pain! It took a while, but I got them to the point where they appreciate a little heat and the fact that it has flavor on its own and enhances what is on the plate. There is a caveat, however: the heat has to be executed just right, and Dave's does this perfectly! Rather than simply a sauce slathered on the chicken, Dave's uses a phenomenal blend of spices to achieve all-around perfection. Today, I was daring enough to try the Extra Hot... one step away from their pinnacle of spice, the Reaper. Even this doesn't hit you with a wall of fire; it starts with a gentle sweetness, and the heat comes. I'm not going to lie... I want to try all of them, including the Reaper, as I would love to experience all their spice blends. However, knowing they require a signed waiver for the Reaper, I might chicken out (I didn't intend the pun, but it works out, so I'll own it). Flavors are crucial, don't get me wrong, but they are only part of the story. There is also preparation, and the chicken is cooked with the kind of craftsmanship and perfection Chick-fil-A only dreams of. The chicken is cooked to utter perfection! It is fresh from the fryer (not time under a lamp), unbelievably tender inside, and with the coveted, crisp, and craggily crust outside. Bread to meat ratio is spot on as well. Their schtick is interesting as they only have tenders or sliders (sando with a tender within). We could debate the merits of this vs. having a round patty, but from my perspective, what they do works! The sandwich doesn't fall apart, and the bread-to-chicken ratio is spot on. On that note, the sandwiches are done very well. The amount of sauce and coleslaw is perfect! Didn't fall apart either. Then there are the fries. These, like the chicken, are cooked and spiced to perfection. They are served fresh out of the fryer also. Too many places serve sorry excuses for fries and don't even salt them. Here, you get a (not spicy) blend of goodness! Service-wise, everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful! I was here just as the lunch hour was starting. It took just over 10 minutes to get my order. This wait is very reasonable considering how fresh everything is. Popeyes can hand you a sandwich before you're done paying, but it spent time lounging under a lamp. If you want quality, you have to be willing to wait a bit. The location was spotless, and everything was kept very clean. This includes the restrooms as well. There is good music playing and very cool art throughout the restaurant. I especially like the Brain Tree. I like puns and plays on words, okay? Their prices are reasonable for a fast-casual spot, especially in light of their quality. BTW - I know I threw some shade at Chick-fil-A. I did visit one once, and what I found did not impress me. It was okay and appeared to be something I could easily make at home. This is not the case with Dave's - not even close. Trivia: Braintree is named after an English town: "Branchetreu." There is some fascinating history and linguistics! After some necessary gymnastics, it can be interpreted as Rivertown. (Src: https://blogofstench.livejournal.com/989098.html) Now, a curious essay on the dine-out market: Something interesting is happening in this world. It seems the quality of full-service restaurants is slowly falling. My Hall of Fame has gone from five to one, and only because I haven't been in that last one for a hot minute. Fast food is working to improve. It is still far from perfect, but I've noticed improvement. Fast casual is really up and coming, and many are shining. Five Guys, Blaze Pizza, Cava, Smashburger, and especially Dave's are all of a quality I wouldn't have expected. I believe what's happening is this: inflation + decreased quality at full-service places. This has turned some (including myself) away and sent us searching for other options. Fast food is dominated by a couple players who have taken note. It has also opened a need for quality fast casual. I believe this is one of the things leading to the rise of incredible spots like Dave's! I am curious to see what the future holds, and I hope, whatever it may be, that Dave's is killing it!

Dave's #4 1 Slider with Fries

I'm a huge fan of Dave's and I'm happy to see new locations pop up around Massachusetts. The vibe inside the restaurant is very hip and the staff are very welcoming. The prices are reasonable too. I got the hot slider which had a good amount of heat. Previously I tried medium and it didn't taste spicy to me. The combo comes with a great amount of fries and the toppings go well with the slider. The chicken is amazing and cooked very well. It does remind me of Nashville. The sauce is great and I found myself dipping the slider and fries in it.

This is probably the best chicken spot in the area. I was super excited for this place to be opened as I used to go to Newton to get Dave but having one near me is great. Service is always good and will definitely come back.

Really hot

Stopped by to try their spicy chicken. They had me sign a waiver. Their spicy was relatively mild but the one I had to sign a waiver for.....oh boy had me sweating. It was hot but no much flavor. The place was clean and the food came out hot and fresh. Service was straightforward. You walk up to the counter and order. Take a number while you wait.

So I heard about this place when I was in another state and I seen they had one of these in my area so I had to check out what the hyper about. This location it's kind of small area with a few tables to sit at Now I was expecting some big huge chicken sandwich, but he's kind of small sandwiches, but I don't mind . I ended up getting a spicy and extra spicy chicken sandwich which was a good thing because the extra spicy was a little bit too hot for me. The hottest one they had.. so if you like spicy chicken sandwiches come check out this place in Braintree mass and you won't be disappointed not to mention their fries actually really good whatever they sprinkle on the spiciness

Dave's #2 2 Sliders w/ Fries

2 sliders with fries - this came with big tenders in the middle of the slider. You can mix and match spicy/heat level so we got 1 mild and 1 hot slider (I liked the hot). Overall pretty good portion for this meal. Cauliflower Tender Bites - these were really good. Had a nice crisp to them with generous amount of seasoning. Would get again.

Hot Box - Tenders

Came in the other day to grab some chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese. One of us tried medium, and the other tried hot. The hot was pretty hot, enough to kind of get you sweating a little bit. The medium was more mild than mild. I'm not sure if they may be mixed it up or not, but it had essentially no spice to it. It was really good though, so not a huge complaint. but if that is their normal medium, then I'm not sure what the mild would be. The macaroni and cheese was very good, the pickles were delicious, and the sauces were really good. The service was quick and nice, and overall it was a nice experience. Will be back again.

We order through the app . Pick up was easy and fast. We ate our food there. The interior was pretty. Service was fast and staff cleaned the tables, pretty efficiently. Got the slider and tender with cheesy fries also got the Mac n cheese. The tender and slider were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Spicy level was perfect at medium. The cheesy fries weren't worth the extra $1.50 for barely any cheese on it. Fries were too flimsy and not crispy. Mac n Cheese was just okay. Would go back for just the sliders

Had someone hack my card (maybe from the order I placed on 2/28 not sure but its a heck of a coincidence if not). Then use 1200 points from my rewards. Thinking this is frustrating but oh well so I went to change my password and their site keeps saying that the two passwords don't match (but they do). Tried emailing them at dhc.tellusdirect.com and got error. Tried to review the order I didn't place and got the same error. The food is amazing but now I've lost faith in them since there is no way to contact anyone.

Is there a spice level lower than no spice? It's still too spicy for me.

No spice is the lowest level - however, you may have been given a spicy tender by mistake?

From the outside, the restaurant looks plain and unassuming, but once inside, it's modern, comfortable, and inviting. We had made reservations, but when we arrived, the place wasn't too crowded. The staff greeted us warmly and explained that we could either do the full rodizio or choose specific meats and pay by the pound. Naturally, we went for the full rodizio experience. The salad bar was a pleasant surprise. Unlike other Brazilian steakhouses that focus mainly on cold cuts, cheeses, and salads, Spettus had a smaller selection of cold items but an impressive variety of hot dishes such as pastas, meatballs, rice, and chicken parm. Everything was flavorful and fresh, and honestly, I could've been perfectly happy just eating from the salad bar alone. We also noticed that a good number of customers were doing takeout, which might explain the larger selection of hot foods. Then came the main event, the meats. Since it was a slower evening and we were the only table doing the full rodizio, we basically had personalized service. The gentleman serving the meats was friendly, attentive, and clearly took pride in what he was serving. He offered great recommendations, took our requests, and playfully encouraged us to take "just one more slice" each time he came around. Every cut we tried was excellent, but the garlic steak really stood out for its flavor. The sausage was fantastic, and the absolute stars of the night were the picanha and the grilled pineapple. I could eat those two forever and be completely content. Overall, Spettus Steak House delivered a top-notch experience that easily rivals some of the larger chain Brazilian steakhouses. If I find myself back in the Boston area, I'll definitely be returning.

We had also bought jumbo shrimp from Costco, with heads to be the main course. (Her favorite!) This was an issue. Apparently these were disgusting and needed to be cleaned. There were so many shrimp. I'd slept exactly 1 hours the night b4 because my in-laws were jetlagged and wandering around the house and backyard at 3am. I'd also worked a full day. So I suggested take out for the main. It was unpopular, however there was no way I was letting MIL clean shrimp by herself for hours and no way I was spending the next two hours of my life helping her do it after working a full day and sleeping 1 hour. To give my husband credit, he researched this place extensively. We ordered the saag chicken, which was exceptional. It stood up to the other dishes on the table. (I have not ordered from an Indian restaurant in the Boston area that comes close to how good this spot was. My in-laws would have complained about every other spot. They liked this one.) Instead they thought it was great, and they are so difficult to please. Pray for me, tomorrow I gut perfectly lovely jumbo shrimp for their black vein and remove the head. (My husband is the one who bought these and paid extra for the head. He is doing extensive yard work involving a lot of heavy lifting, otherwise he'd be in charge of this job. I will also not be helping him, as was planned so he will suffer) Suffice it to say, 10/10 would recommend. Planning on adding it to my regular rotation. It will be approved by your Indian in-laws. They have a vegetarian dinner for 2 special which was perfect for sharing for our family of 4. It came with papads, 2 curries, rice, naan, and gulab jamun. Our food came out quick and flavorful. I've definitely had more authentic Indian food, but this was good quality with a diverse variety of North Indian options. The naans were soft and fluffy, the curries (malai kofta and saag channa) were the right amount of spicy, and the portions were worth the price. I'd recommend coming here if you're craving Indian food and are in the area.
