We contacted Abraham's because we thought it had been an established business in the area and had good feedback. So wrong!!! An elderly man and his son showed up to pick up our clock. They carried it out to their van -- nothing any more professional than we could have done, but they charged us for the pickup. I had spent some time explaining that I thought I had over-wound the clock and wanted it repaired to working order. The old man quoted $300 for pickup and extra for repair. A few weeks later they called and said we could pick it up! We carried it out to our SUV, not any differently than in their van. He wouldn't give us the clock back until we paid another few hundred dollars. The "repairs" consisted of them totally destroying my clock! This had been a gift from my son and was important to me. They cut a hole in the back and replaced the original clock works with a battery operated clock face! This did not "repair" my precious clock! It's just another battery operated clock now, The pendulum no longer works and the sound of the chime is totally mechanized. To top it off, he also refused to return the key to the clock! Said he had so many that he didn't know where it was. I cried all the way home. It breaks my heart every time I look at it or hear it "chime". I have another grandfather clock that had belonged to my dad, but I definitely WILL NOT call Abraham's again.

However we parked at the mall across the street on this trip and this was right across the street. My husband really wants a grandfather clock and he was very excited to check out the selection. Prices seemed kind of high to me but to be fair I don't know anything about grandfather clocks, lol. They also have a nice selection of Frankenmuth magnets, they ranged from like $4 to $10. I ended up buying one of the $4 ones. The reason I'm bumping up this review to five stars is because I lost my Fitbit there (Fitbit Zip, an old one that sits on my waist, not my watch) and when my husband and I got to Kern's and realized it, we rushed back to the store to check there first (it was 530pm). The (owner? Employee?) welcomed us back, and another customer immediately pointed to it on the floor. Saved us a lot of hassle and had they closed immediately at 530pm, the doors may have been locked. Looking forward to checking this store out again the next time we are in town.

Always a great conversation and an education in time pieces. The group in the back can repair or restore most anything. We've had two intricate grandfathers restored and they do incredible work. One took six months and the other seven. The wait was well worth it. Back to the store. They have clocks of all sizes and price ranges. On our initial visit to the store we spent over an hour, like it were a museum. This isn't the dime store, so know that you'll be paying a hefty price for most any clock here. Again, it's an investment that justifies the price. This is also your place for authentic German Christmas pyramids. We bought the pyramid with Seiffen church for under $100. A neat little wooden pyramid with a German church, carolers and a Christmas tree. When the tea lights are lit, the rising heat causes the blades to turn. I recommend that on your first visit you take in everything. If something grabs you, you grab it back. Otherwise, bring your funds on all future trips! 05/22
