EMPLOYEE TOLD ME TO "SHUT THE F*** UP" My family and I visited this place while in Indiana and I was completely shocked by the terrible service. We were a large group and I understand it can be a challenge serving a large party but I had a horrible experience overall. I'll start with the food... I'm not a picky eater but the food here was tasteless, they must've missed to add salt or any seasoning at all. I ordered fish tacos and I couldn't even eat one, the smell of fish was overwhelming. My brother ordered steak with a side of grilled onion and fried beans, he got the sides but server forgot to bring the steak. My dad was burned with the hot plate from the fajitas and he too needed to add salt. The beans were okay and the queso fundido with chorizo was delicious. I can't remember much else about the food besides they were out of so many things. I recall we asked for certain dishes and drinks and we were told they were out of the items. They couldn't even make a michelada. The service was completely lacking. This has been the WORST experience I've ever had at any restaurant. When I went up front to pay my check, the hostess/cashier (Araceli) was having a bad attitude. She processed payment and did not hand me the receipt to sign but instead threw it. I asked if she was upset and she said no. As I was walking out she was looking at me very rude from the corner of her eye and I asked her not to look at me that. Araceli then told me to shut the fuck up as she was helping another customer! I told her that she should not treat anyone this way especially not a customer and especially not in the presence of another customer. I asked to speak to her manager, Antonia, who did not seem to care what happened. She took it very lightly and said she needed to go back to work because they were shorthanded. I realized nothing would be done about this so I asked for a call from the owner and I never received a call. I followed up myself and was told the owner was on vacation. Hoping I'll get a call back because this is not okay. Take your business elsewhere if you want to be treated with respect. read more

Food was mediocre the waitress couldn't remember what our order was and there was gnats hovering over my food the entire time I was eating. Why they served Horchata in a huge beer stein is beyond comprehension. This is a place with promises but poor management skills and lack of employee training in food services is obvious. I never saw a manger type on the floor walking around at any time. It appeared the wait staff just did what ever they wanted. But considering the location and those who they cater to I suppose they think it is a great place to eat. read more

We've been to this location on probably 10 plus occasions as it it right around the corner from our house. The food is generally pretty good. They have some options that other authentic Mexican restaurants do not have, like burrito power bowls and street tacos. Fajitas are pretty good and not over seasoned like other places. The restaurant was recently renovated and the open layout is nice. The only issue we have is the service. They turn tables entirely too slow. We have never been and NOT had to wait for a table. Also the food takes awhile which is common for these restaurants. Usually you are barely getting into your guac/queso before the fajitas hit the table. Texas Margaritas are good but a bit more sweet than were used to. Server was attentive and the slow food is not in his control. It also seems that he was taking care of probably 10 tables which is too many for one server. When I waited tables, we were allowed 4 tables max. Also we asked for jalapeños for our margaritas and they brought a small dish of canned jalapeños. I've never been served canned jalapeños lol. I'm so disappointed. It's only been a few months since we've eaten here but it seems as though a lot has changed. They seem to have gone the way of all the other Mexican restaurants-they became too American. The food is not nearly authentic anymore. I had the chimichanga and my husband had the chicken fajitas but let me tell you-we would have been better cooking our food. At least we would know how to season our food properly. This will probably be the last time we visit here. It's just not good anymore. It's a waste of our money and time. It's so bad that my husbands stomach started hurting. This place is great! Good service. A few quirks here and there, but, worth it (table I sat at would pretty much fall over if you leaned on it from my side). Good guac. Friends on Yelp, please, please PLEASE save yourself the money for a restaurant that values you as a person and as a customer. We went here for dinner and were absolutely horrified with our experience. For starters, the waitress that took our order got the order completely wrong. It was a different waitress who brought out our food, and so when we sent it back there was initially no problem. 15 minutes later, still no replacement, everyone else has eaten their food, and the original waitress came back and started arguing with us about what the initial order was. She finally brings the order out, and tells us it is going to cost extra. (WHAT?!) So then, we ask to speak to a manager, and the manager barely speaks English. It's very broken, at best, and I honestly don't think she understood how upsetting the service was. After speaking with the manager, our original waitress comes back and asks us, "did you tell my manager that I ignored you?". All of us were shocked and said, no we told her you argued with us. Then, on top of everything else she starts arguing with me about how she wasn't arguing! The entire experience was absolutely horrendous. We got the wrong food, the waitress argued with us (TWICE), the manager did not care at all. No meals got comped, no apologies were made, essentially, no person there seemed to care that we came to spend our money on good food and good service, and did not get either. Safe to say we will never be back. And you, friends, should save your money for a place that values it. read more

We'd been playing a festival in Western Indiana, and were looking for a place to stop for supper on our way home. We pulled up the hand dandy yelp! app and discovered this place. I'm glad we did! There were some definite hits in this meal. The food was outstanding.....certainly 5 star. It was a little surprising, I'd call it more of a Mexican fusion restaurant than a Mexican restaurant, still I REALLY enjoyed my meal a lot. The chips and salsa...the chips were pretty standard, but the salsa was just outstanding! The downside...the service was lacking. This place is the bees knees. By far my favorite Mexican restaurant. Everyone I take here is impressed. It's much different than your average Mexican restaurant. The menu is extensive and constantly changing throughout the seasons, and they have 1$ margaritas once a month. This place is usually packed- which is typically a good indicator the food is awesome. Tequila Sunrise always provides good service and love the food. We were there this past Sunday. They were exceptionally busy and we did wait for about 10 minutes for our table. Once the table was ready we were seated and addressed promptly. During our meal someone walked by and noticed we were out of chips and promptly provided us with more. I love Mexican Food and was very disappointed tonight when our party of seven never received our cheese dip asked for three times took three times to ask for more salsa and twice to ask for my tortillas to come with my food. Dang fine, definitely better than your average Mexican restaurant. Salsa is GREAT and has the perfect amount of heat and freshness. My bride loves the shrimp chimichangas and my favorite thing here is probably the adobo burrito with grilled chicken. Tip: Come on Sundays and get a free ice cream sundae! You DO want one, it's actually great. The *only* ice cream that my son will willingly devour. Service is quick + friendly, and the place is very clean. Toddler factor: Yep, they have high chairs and they do keep them very clean. Only once have I gotten one with a broken buckle. Servers have always been super friendly to our boy. Kids menu is HUUUGE with many varied options. Chicken strips are pretty good as is the corn dog. You'll definitely find something for even your pickiest eater. read more

This is a good place for a quick lunch. They have added some nice options (fancy smanchy enchiladas, etc) to their menu which makes them stick out a bit from other Mexican restaurants. The last time we visited their credit card machine was down (didn't know it until the check came). My husband had to go to an ATM to pay the bill (sorry but I'm not comfortable giving my credit card number on a piece if paper!). I'm sure that was a one time thing but I didn't like it. Hubby and I tried Tequila Sunrise for the first time Monday evening. We walked in and we weren't sure whether to seat ourselves or not. There were a couple of employees chatting behind a partial wall near the lobby area but neither seemed interested in greeting us. After a few minutes the lady who was bussing tables stopped and took us to a booth. The atmosphere was great. We were glad to see that the football game was playing on TVs that could be seen from every angle. We immediately ordered guacamole and queso for our tortilla chips and we're thrilled with the taste of both. I was in the mood for steak nachos and ordered the sour cream, jalapeños and guacamole on the side. When they were served everything except the cheese was on the side and no retried beans could be found. Not a big deal, they tasted pretty good even with some assembly required and no beans. Hubby ordered shrimp ceviche and mole tamales. The ceviche was a big disappointment! The sauce on it tasted like ketchup and hot sauce mixed together. The tamales were decent. There was plenty of both of our meals to take home for lunch the next day. The service was so-so and cost this review a full star. Let me start by saying they weren't very busy and seemed to have plenty of staff. As I said we weren't immediately greeted when we arrived. Our server was ok during the meal but after we ate he seemed to think his job was done. I asked for a to-go container for the queso and never got it. He brought us our check and my husband immediately put his credit card in the check holder where it was sticking out of the end and put it at the edge of the table. Our server walked by no less than 6 times without acknowledging or picking up the card so we could pay and go. Finally after sitting there for nearly ten minutes another server came and picked it up and brought it back. Overall, the experience was ok. The atmosphere is wonderful. It's cozy and super comfortable, like I could sit and chat for hours cozy/comfy. The staff is friendly and helpful. I wish I could have liked the food better. It was rather bland and extremely over salted. The menu was massive and there were many choices. We don't consume a lot of salt on the daily so by the time we left, we were all very red from sodium overload. The tortilla chips were warm when we received them, and they were tasty. My son enjoyed the salsa, which means it was not spicy at all. I had the chicken tortilla soup. It was very much like vegetable soup with chicken and tortilla strips added. And salty. My husband had carne asada. He said it was nice and tender, but due to tenderizer, which of course added to the salt intake. My kid, well he had chicken tenders, so he doesn't get a say in what is good at a Mexican restaurant. Haha! It was not terribly authentic for Mexican food. read more

One of the best ways to judge a Mexican restaurant is by their chips and salsa. Unfortunately, this place has thick,cold chips and very tomatoey tasting salsa. Not a great first impression. Food was ok nothing great or to write home about. Positive was that you typically don't see a variety of desserts at Mexican restaurants and this place had several to choose from and presentation was very nice. We didn't have any but the folks next to us did and they looked good. Cleanliness was good. This is one of my favorite Mexican chains between Avon and Brownsburg! To start, I love their salsa, it's the chunky style, which I enjoy. I've had their burritos, wraps, and enchiladas and a fan of all of it. Their queso is also great for dipping with chips. They run a monthly special of $1 margaritas for the last Sunday of each month which is a steal. I also love that they have a real dessert menu which not all Mexican restaurants do. Their waiting area is pretty small and limited space m so if you have a big group, be prepared for a small waiting section. However, that's pretty standard for local Mexican restaurants so not too big of an issue. I definitely recommend this for a Mexican food craving! read more

Girl's night brought me north to Tequila Sunrise as this is a favorite of a few of the girls. This place was super cramped in the waiting area but I think they were just trying to figure out where to put all the waiting parties as we only waited about 5-10 minutes. This is a weird thing about their layout, their entryway and check out are in the same cramped area and it is quite narrow. We were seated at a mildly odd table in this center section that is supposed to mimic a fountain plaza or something? I dunno, I got to stare at the fountain the whole time though! Service was pretty quick to get drinks and order but he did seem a bit flustered, probably had quite a few tables he was serving. Chips and salsa were fast and abundant and I ate too many. My friend also got some queso and it was good! Much better than my last attempt at killing my constant queso craving! I ordered a quesadilla (Jose Frog) that my friend said her husband gets all the time. It was well done with a good amount of sour cream and quac to use. Yum. I didn't manage to eat it all since I ate like 10 pounds of chips but my husband reheated it later that night and he said it was still good. One of my friends meals came out wrong and they remade it but it took a long time and that was disappointing, I wish they had put more of a rush on it since she sat there awkwardly while we ate. All in all, this place is nice for a local Mexican restaurant and a good value. I will be back...and hopefully with a large margarita at my table! read more
