The fish is literally cooked perfectly glazed over with gorgeous caramelization and the cabbage they put underneath the protein on top of the rice was perfectly cooked a little snap to it. This is a no frills type of place. I think that they do mostly carry-outs, but it does have a few tables. It may be a tad warm for dining in. We opted for carry-outs both times. We got a shrimp tempura roll, which was solid. No complaints. For Entree, we got the chicken and shrimp teriyaki with vegetables and fried rice. The portion was huge. We got at least three portions out of one order. The teriyaki sauce on the dish was caramelized, which gave an extra texture and flavor. Overall, it was a great experience. Friday 3/8/2024 Been a minute since I've had Asian food like this and it did not disappoint. I made a takeout order via mealkayway and got the chicken teriyaki with rice & noodles for a total of $12.52. The food container was HEAVY which is a GOOD sign. The rice was my least favorite part of the meal, it was just alright. The noodles were pretty good, definitely my favorite. The teriyaki chicken was decent. Great local spot in Montgomery Village. The food came out piping hot and it was good. As many other reviews mention, the portion sizes are large and I would assume would be tough to finish for someone with an average size appetite. We ordered the deep fried california roll and it was great. Steaming hot and quite tasty. My son also ordered the chicken and beef teriyaki platter. I only the tried the meat, but it was tender and flavorful. Overall a good experience and I will go back. I only took a star away because the service didnt wow me. The portions are hefty, not as hefty as the place we used to go to at Lakeforest mall in high school but reminiscent of it. Although it was my first time trying the food here, it did bring me comfort and good memories. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Solid teriyaki. I got the chicken and shrimp combo over white rice and noodles. The chicken was cooked at a high enough heat where you get some crispy bits but the meat was still tender, not overcooked. The shrimp were plump and juicy. I really enjoyed the noodles they served! I wished I had a little more teriyaki sauce. Not a fan of yum yum sauce usually but tried it just to see. Theirs is a little sweeter than I've had in the past. Not my cup of tea but it may be yours. The chicken katsu was ok. The katsu sauce is served on the side so the katsu stays crispy in transit. I appreciate that. I wanted to try it with rice and with noodles. Rather than skimp me on the carbs, they gave me an additional container of rice. With the 3 cutlets of chicken it was served with, it made sense to have more carbs. The noodles we okay with this but a little dry. I think the noodles tasted better with the teriyaki because of the sauce. This is an affordable option to get your katsu fix. This is in my rotation to make at home so I don't often order it out. All in all, I'm happy we found a good teriyaki place so close to home! My nail salon is 4 doors down and my pharmacy in the same shopping center. The food here is great. I have been looking for a good Chicken Katsu around the area without having to go down to Rockville area and I am glad to say I have now found it! The Chicken Katsu is about two whole chicken filets and it is very tasty. It also comes with rice and this side salad that actually tasted super good, it had this dressing that was very simple but yet it was very flavorful, it reminded me of the salad from Korean BBQ's where it has very simple ingredients but has great taste. It was not just cut up lettuce thrown in as a side dish. The chicken teriyaki platter here is also good as well. We got the chicken and shrimp combo and you have the option of getting either rice or noodles as the base, I recommend getting half and half as when they put both they tend to put a lot of each. Both platters were very filling. They give great portions for the price you pay, even with the slight increase (inflation). The menus and pictures from previous reviewers had the original pricing on them and I noticed everything has increased at least $1-$3, so if you look at the pictures of the menu do not be surprised when you order that it may be more expensive than the price you see. I also noticed when I walked in the establishment that the place is very well maintained, it was very clean. There are also about 4 tables inside so if you want to dine-in you have that option. They also sell sushi here and I did not get a chance to try that so there is another side of the menu I am waiting to try. Overall, place is very good and I will be coming in again. read more

I found Teriyaki Express just doing a search on "best teriyaki chicken" in the area and this place popped up and it definitely lives up to it's reputation. We ordered the beef teriyaki and the chicken teriyaki and both were delicious and affordable. They offer lots of portions at a great price. Currently during COVID, there is no dine in and only offering carry out. But they also serve and make sushi fresh so I can't wait to go back and try it. The cashier was friendly and even offered me extra yum yum sauce. I definitely would come here again and try other dishes since we enjoyed the teriyaki beef and chicken. I am a returning customer and will say upfront the food is good. Reason for the 1 star is I called and ordered 2 chicken beef and shrimp combos, drove all the way there and got them and drove all the way back to see they didn't put the chicken. Of course you don't get an itemized receipt so I couldn't check it. I call and let them know the mistake they made and their customer service amounted to "I mean you can bring it back if you want and we can add the chicken. But you have to pay for the chicken." This post Covid attitude that many restaurants have gotten of not caring about customer service because they don't think their check is effected by an individual customer's bad experience annoys me to no end. Its an honest mistake and could have been easily fixed or they could have at least given a solitary crap that they messed up but nope. So you get a negative review. And while I'm at it I'll mention that the place is absolutely disgusting. I've enjoyed this place since they had two locations. One closer to my house that is now Charley's and this location. I usually get the beef, chicken, shrimp combo and fried rice with veggies. You can also get sushi rolls and they have special roles from time to time like the volcano roll but they were out when I went. So I opted for the California roll instead. I think the thing that impresses me most about this place is how clean it is kept and how much food they are able to pack in the containers. I was able to eat for 2 days on that one combo meal. You get a lot of value for money and I feel it is a better alternative to some of the others out there. The one thing that I will mention is they keep the AC in this place on high, so it's freezing in there if you are dining in, so be mindfulness of that and bring a jacket or coat or take it to go. I mainly come to get the sushi party tray and I will say that it never disappoint. I usually order my sushi with no cream cheese and they always make it fresh. They have good customer service and indoor dining is available and it never too crowded. I'd like to give this a 4.5 star...but rounded up to 5 stars because my family was sooo hungry and the order arrived to our house (via Uber eats) super quick. We didn't order anything fancy (rice, noodles, spring roll, veggie dish), and it is all good. Not 5 star good, but 4 star good.
