Lum Thai is one of our local favorites. I haven't had a single bad dish. Whether it's noodles, curry, or a soup, they have all been fantastic. To go orders are always packaged nicely and the dining room is well equipped for dine in. Super friendly service and tasty meals at reasonable prices, what more could you ask for?

Located in Muddy Branch Square shopping center, Lum Thai is a small Thai restaurant offering the usual Thai dishes at most Thai restaurants. They also some specials that looked interesting. I got the pad thai ($14 with chicken), and it was decent/average. I got a few dry chicken pieces unfortunately. I got hot and it actually was spicy (since sometimes they dial the spice levels down, but not this place!) Staff were friendly and checked on us often. The restaurant is very casual, and clean, and there is plenty of parking in the shopping center.

We enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner at Lum Thai. I made a reservation (which wasn't needed) because it was a Friday night. The service was outstanding. Servers were very friendly and brought my birthday dessert out with a candle and sang to me. The food was delicious. I enjoyed the chicken Panang curry, my husband had the mango curry hot and my mom had the chicken pad Thai. The portions were large and they boxed up our leftovers for us. For dessert we had the mango sticky rice and the fried banana with coconut ice cream. DELICIOUS. We will be back! Plenty of parking.

I recently ordered the crab meat fried rice to go and it was ok. The crab meat was mushy and there were no vegetables. I added black pepper and chili flakes for more flavor.

My sister orders from this place often and compared it to a Thai restaurant that we love back home in Boston. While I was in town, we decided to order for takeout. We ordered two pad ka prao with salmon, extra spicy. Upon arrival, they informed us that they only had one piece of salmon left (this was a Tuesday early evening). I ended up ordering the tilapia and had to beg them to not make it breaded. I sat at the bar to wait and had a glass of Sauvignon blanc. Inside was pretty busy and looked clean. I would have dined in. When we got home, we soon realized that there was absolutely no pepper in the food, causing it to be on the sweeter side. It was extremely disappointing considering we eat Thai food for the level of spice they're able to achieve. Nonetheless, I was NOT impressed and very unsatisfied with the meal.

Some kind of chicken and noodle dish. This is what they recommended when I ask for a non-sugary dish.

The food was really good. The portion was very small. I actually left here and had to go get something to eat because I was still hungry. Not sure what I ordered here as my girlfriend recommended this place and I asked the waitress for something not overloaded with sugar.

Enjoyable lunch. We ate in for lunch and opted for lunch specials, which come with a choice of an app and entree. I ordered fried tofu + pad see ew with beef and my mom opted for a spring roll plus pad Thai with chicken. We traded plates to sample each other's selections. It was all solid and my favorite was the pad see ew with beef. Nothing blew me away, but tasty. Service was good. Restaurant interior is pretty non-descript and it's in the strip center at Muddy Branch. I hear their plating is really nice and I can see that in some of the photos, but ours was just basic and clean. Overall, solid and would get again.

bluf - awesome, relatively new spot located in Montgomery County offering a fresh, modern take on Thai dishes with friendly service to boot. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a friendly smile and great service. We ordered a few items for the table and they were all delicious. The curry puff was flaky and crispy on the outside and great flavor for the filling. The pad see ew hit the spot too with well-cooked noodles and a great balance of other toppings. The curry had a nice kick (you can ask for different levels of spice) and depth to it. The pineapple fried rice was a fun dish that had a great balance of flavors between the savory fried rice + sweet pineapples. The biggest takeaways that I noticed are that the kitchen doesn't skimp out on portion size. The dishes are reasonably priced AND they give you a ton of food, so that's always great to see. There's a decent amount of indoor seating (none outside) and they are accommodating in the form of gender neutral bathrooms. It seems like it could get a bit noisy on a busier evening, but I had a great time here and would be more than happy to visit again if I'm in the area.

Curry Puffs appetizer- 7.95 - delicious, not spicy, very comforting, sweet and fresh sauce

Overall- yummy food, super kind service, reasonable prices, clean and casual ambiance, with single stall inclusive restrooms It's a small restaurant with only indoor seating. They have one TV that was showing a cooking show when we were there. The menu had tons of options that I wanted to try. Everything we got was delicious. We went at 4:30 and we were the only people in the place the entire time.

    No one inside the restaurant.

It's Sunday, July 27 and I showed up at 11:40 am for lunch and the damn place is closed without a reason. The sign on the door says they open at 11:00 am. No one is inside the restaurant. I drove all the way from Tyson's Corner to have lunch here. Wasted my time. Smh.

Came on an impulse - the smell from outside absolutely drew us in! Inside is cozy and cute - we were seated immediately and ordered Thai teas - so good that my husband ordered a second one! The food was served very quickly, and we really enjoyed everything! Husband ordered the cashew chicken and I the vegetarian pad see euw. Every bite of each so full of flavor! The waitstaff was also the right amount of attentive while letting us have privacy to enjoy our meal - something I think can be very tricky to gauge. Absolutely will be back!

Tried Lyk thai for the first time today and was hugely impressed! We got a wide variety of items to try: thai teas, Tom kha soup, pad Thai, panang curry, and fried rice. The presentation of the soup was really cute and the taste was great. It was my second time trying Tom kha and I enjoyed it more than my other try! The serving sizes are also bigger than what I imagined. Both the fried rice and pad Thai came with so much food!!! Same goes for the curry. Great value. All three items tasted great as well. My friend asked for some chili sauce and they promptly brought over a variety of spices for her. The Thai tea is a tad sweet, but nothing ice/water can't dilute and they come in cute little mason jars. The service was great as well especially for a relatively new spot. I will definitely be coming back!

March 2023 I have been eagerly awaiting this new Thai restaurant, but it didn't quite make a favorable impression on me other than the friendly staff. My new, lovely colleague and I shared our chicken pad Thai and beef pad see ew. Both entrees were flavorful, however, needed more sauce. The pad see ew noodles needed to be more tender. It was more al dente, which is atypical. Also the beef was chewy and overcooked. The Thai iced tea was good though. They had a few carryout orders, but hardly any dine-in patrons. The restaurant is located in Muddy Branch Square, in the same shopping center as Giant, and is two doors down from First Watch. Overall decent, but didn't have the wow factor I was hoping for.

I noticed that some of the tables have been changed from square to rectangular, making the dining room feel more open and spacious. Each table is now decorated with a small lamp, and artwork adorns the walls--simple updates that add warmth and enliven the ambiance. Another noticeable change is the packaging for the entrée I ordered. It has been updated from a square container to a rice bowl, which I much prefer. The previous packaging reminded me of a school cafeteria, while the new presentation feels more appealing. During my last visit, they also offered lunch specials, which no longer appear to be available. That was a bit disappointing, although it may have been a promotion when they first opened. Their menu is somewhat atypical for a local Thai restaurant, with offerings such as tacos, burgers, and sandwiches. I was in the mood for my usual favorites--Pad Thai and Pad See Ew--but neither is on the menu. I ordered a Thai iced tea and the Kao Mun Gai Tod. The iced tea was good, but I would have preferred a bolder tea flavor. It seemed a bit diluted, possibly from too much ice. The chicken, however, was crispy and flavorful, and the rice was cooked perfectly--tender rather than dry or chewy. Our server was attentive throughout the meal. She checked on us regularly and promptly cleared our table, providing excellent service.

We've had the Drunken noodles before and they are consistently good. The fried rice, my first time for this dish, was very good. Three large shrimp, chicken, chunks of pineapple and some veggies with a very tasty rice. Yum. One disappointment today that I think is worth mentioning. We routinely get the Tom Yum soup and it is one of my favorite things here. Today, the broth tasted like sriracha sauce. My partner agreed. The manager came over and asked how things were. I told her that I was disappointed in the soup, and asked if they had changed their recipe. I told her that we routinely get this item as a favorite, and that it normally has a complex flavor of spices and this time tastes like simple sriracha. She asked if we wanted a different soup. I told her no, that this is our favorite soup and that we get it every time and it's just disappointing this time. She said it probably had too much chili paste put into it and that she'd talk to the head chef. And that was the end of it. Never heard another word or saw her again. When the check came, the charge for the soup was still on the bill. I'm deducting a point from my 5-point scores in the past because I'm disappointed that the manager acknowledged there was a problem but still charged for the soup.
