We are very fortunate in the mid-west to have so many Bibibop Asian Grill locations, a restaurant that really makes eating heathy fun and delicious. I often find it hard to choose other fast casual options because the food here is so colorful, plentiful, tasty, and reasonably priced. Especially with a coupon, it's difficult to find anywhere else that brings this much value for the money spent, with a dizzying array or customization options. Fortunately the food here is delicious as well. Be warned that a single regular bowl can be a challenge to finish in one sitting, especially when you mix in a bowl of miso soup. Protein portions are quite large, definitely on the generous size of a heaping scoop and all the base and mix-ins are layered nicely. I love the freshness of the fruits and vegetables (particularly grilled) they provide here, and am a big fan of the gochujang sauce which is a bit more spicy than most options I've had outside of the Milwaukee Ave restaurants. The service here is quick and friendly. Even with a long line, they get through orders quickly and are helpful with suggestions. I also like how well lit, colorful, and clean the restaurant is throughout. Overall, great for a delicious bowl with lots of customization options and a reasonable price. It was so so. The chicken was a bit tough and white rice a bit dry. I do like the fast casual type custom bowl concept. You order along the counter, pay, then take your food with you. Pineapple and avocado are an upcharge of $1.50. I think the highlight for me was the option to have noodles as the base. Purple rice is available too. I went with chicken the first time and Korean bbq beef on my second trip. Both my wife and I preferred the chicken, she felt the beef was chewy. Overall, I would highly recommend. I love that BIBIBOP has been expanding in the Midwest and was super excited when a location opened in Arlington Heights. I love all of the options provided and everything I've had is super delicious. What I don't like about this place is the service. I frequently order for pickup via the drive thru window (which is super convenient). I just visited today, the rep asks me what my name is, and shoved my order through the window. No hello, no thank you. I have been to their Vernon Hills location and I wanted to see how it compared. This location is smaller. The seating area is smaller and very tight. There is an outdoor seating option if the weather cooperates. The food is the same high quality that they are known for. All of the ingredients are fresh and are cooked on the premises. We have been here 3 times. 1st time was exciting because gluten free dining out was suddenly a possibility. The food fresh and the service, while provided by un interested high school kids, was not terrible. 2nd time was a warning sign. The noodles were the last dregs at the bottom and no effort was made to provide fresh noodles. The proteins also were all visibly dry and not recently made. 3rd time was a sure sign of corporate food service gone bad. I got attitude about adding the "super salad" to the noodles. Dude said "you get half and half" as he tried to remove noodles already served (food safety issue). I had asked for "in addition to". He repeated "half and half" so I had to repeat "in addition to and you can overcharge me if that's a problem." My partner asked for the tofu. I had asked if it was "fresh" because it looked kinda crusty. I was told "it was made about 30 minutes ago". We gambled and when I sampled a piece it was dry and tough - meaning overcooked and sat too long. When we asked for fresh tofu, we got more attitude. "It's supposed to be crispy.... it's fresh... we change over every hour... it takes 8 minutes to make it..." Listen to me now. You have one choice to make. REFIRE THE TOFU or REFUND THE WHOLE MEAL. Please choose wisely and promptly. Now let me share a food service tip for your staff. There is an EASY WAY to keep your hot items lasting just a little longer than they should.... Step 1. DO NOT OVER COOK THE PROTEINS. Medium heat... stop moving them around. Flip once. Wait. Flip again. Wait. Sauce. FLAME OFF. Toss with sauce. Step 2. Check TEMP and MOISTURE every 10 minutes. I was given the run around and LIED TOO BY A CORPORATE employee. When I complained to customer service I got no response and the manager at this location acted like he did not know what to do about the situation or even cared. Sad because I used to love the food.
