It was alright, slightly better than I expected, but I wasn't expecting much. I do think the chicken is too lean and tough, but I always think that around here, and this is definitely not the worst I've had even recently. The sauce is decent. And when you get a more tender piece and the smokiness hits, this is honestly not bad. The veggies were nicely firm as well. The white rice was a bit inconsistent. In some parts, the texture is okay. In other parts, there were weird clumps, and towards the bottom, a couple grains were too hard, like it didn't absorb enough water. My husband loves the Teriyaki Madness we visit up in Northern California and this location tastes just the same. He got his usual spicy chicken teriyaki bowl and I got the orange chicken with yakisoba noodles and a side of crab Rangoon. I'm not sure why more of this franchise doesn't open around central San Diego. It would do so well, especially with the lunch crowd in major SD neighborhoods! It's a small space, but there are about 2-3 high top tables for eating with a small group of friends. We would visit more often if a location opens up closer to us in San Diego. read more

First time I tried this place the food was great! Looks like other members have had the same experience as me. My first time the food was great, but the last few times the food is not fresh, looks like the chicken katsu was reheated on the grill, the chicken was dry. Very disappointing. First, let me start by saying I am not someone who leaves reviews very often at all. I grew up in Seattle but have been in San Diego for 28 years. I have compared every teriyaki place I have been to here to my favorite place back home, only to be disappointed time & time again. Finally.... This is the place! They actually flame grill the chicken the way that it should be, it's alway very fresh, tender with the perfect char on the outside giving it that flavor that you want, and need. Best teriyaki chicken in San Diego, or even L.A for that matter without question. I've had their teriyaki salmon as well and it's also very good. Their prices are also very fair as well. Then there's the customer service. Outstanding. Every time I've been here the entire staff is alway very welcoming and friendly. These days you will see a lot of employees who let their bad day show at work, not here. Today my wife & I came in to get a to go order and she asked about their shrimp rangoons. We had never had them here before but we already ordered more than we would be able to eat so we figured next time we will try them. We get home and to our surprise they gave one to each of us to try. Absolutely fantastic! Both the Randoon and the thoughtfulness. Went in today and placed an order while I was sitting there waiting for my order the guy that was at the register went to the back and was picking up trash and take taking boxes out. I guess to throw away. He went to throw them out came back in And went directly to go where they were prepping food and started prepping some dishes without washing his hands or putting gloves or anything. I saw him grab noodles with his hands, and at that point I got up and asked for a refund will never be going there again. He said it wasn't my order. It was somebody else's. If there were a no star option, I PROMISE this is the establishment that deserves a zero star rating. To start, please note that I ordered through Postmates, so I get that temperature can be slightly screwed, but this was far beyond a warm, it was just straight cold. Beyond temp, the quality of food was awful. The noodles are literally just noodles- no cabbage or a hint of a veggie in sight. I expected something a little closer to chow mein, but no. They tasted like slimy boring spaghetti noodles. No flavor whatsoever. Everything that was coated/ fried- tofu, orange chicken, and potstickers had a filmy old grease flavor and the tofu specifically tasted like it was refried in hopes of them not having to waste it. The veggies were overcooked, soggy, unseasoned nothings, that had an aftertaste that I can only describe as a combo of dirt and Simple Green. The teriyaki beef- just nope. It was reminiscent of the frozen steak slices from the supermarket, I think they're called "Steak Ums" but also gristly and overcooked, with a grey color. Shriveled up and wavy like bacon. A drizzle of teriyaki sauce over the top and viola... teriyaki beef?? The spicy chicken was the best of the bunch, but that's by no means saying it was good. It was the only thing truly edible. It was covered in a chili oil to make it spicy, and obviously too much oil makes it oily, and it was, but the chicken was dry, so that's a thinker... oily and dry at the same time I know this sounds like overkill, but I promise, I edited this so many times over. And yes, some of this might also be fueled by me now being hangry. Yoshinoya is a GAZILLION times better than this and certainly cheaper too. Thanks Teriyaki Madness for making my dinner tonight so unbelievably underwhelming! Really appreciate the thought and care you take in making your customers a decent meal. read more

The side noodles were cold and waxy, the Chicken Eggroll was damp and cold, and the beef was chewy. I don't know who in the heck is working in this kitchen weekends at around 6:00 pm, but they absolutely don't care what is going out to the patrons. Atmosphere is enjoyable if you like music playing while you wait/eat. I tried the spicy chicken with all veggies. It was actually very good. The sauce is flavorful and spicy as promised. The veggies are cooked and seasoned well. The food was good, but I was disappointed by the customer service. The gentleman who took our order looked and sounded visibly annoyed. As a new business, I'd expect customer service to be made a priority. I'd expect this type of service at a business like McDonald's. I will try this place again and hope for better service. I ordered the large chicken teryaki today. The chicken was fire-grilled with the perfect amout of char on the outside while the chicken was flavorful and juicy on the inside. This location never answers the phone, it's been multiple times I try to place an order over the phone and nobody picks up. This last time that I arrived after trying to call, the guy at the front was on his cell phone having a full on conversation while the restaurant phone rang.
