Orange Chicken Bowl with yakisoba noodles
Liz R.

My husband loves the Teriyaki Madness we visit up in Northern California and this location tastes just the same. He got his usual spicy chicken teriyaki bowl and I got the orange chicken with yakisoba noodles and a side of crab Rangoon. I'm not sure why more of this franchise doesn't open around central San Diego. It would do so well, especially with the lunch crowd in major SD neighborhoods! It's a small space, but there are about 2-3 high top tables for eating with a small group of friends. We would visit more often if a location opens up closer to us in San Diego.

Steak and Chicken Teriyaki bowl

I feel like there are surprisingly few fast casual teriyaki spots in my area (at least that I know of) so I was glad to find Teriyaki Madness to scratch that itch. I ordered the combo teriyaki steak and chicken bowl and it was pretty solid. Fast service, meat was cooked well, and I liked the combo with veggies and fried rice. I don't know that it'll become a regular spot for me being in Imperial Beach, but it was tasty and nice to try.

Steak and Salmon Rice Two Protein Bowl- Large Size Only

I can eat meat and rice everyday of my life. So, that makes this place a good spot for me. Especially since it's down the street from my house and the cost is decent. However, to start - the restaurant is DIRTY. From the entrance to the restroom )which is blocked off now). Dirty dirty. I went at 1120am, the front floor was dirty even after they obviously mopped. The registers are disgusting. Dirty and dusty every time I go. Just imagine what the kitchen looks like where we can't see. Yikes. The chicken is decent. I gotta remember to only get the chicken IF I go back here. The salmon is DRY. The steak is chewy. I think it's just youngsters working here that don't care. Sorry for the bad review but people gotta know. If you eat here, get the chicken and take it to go. And also don't look around.

Chicken Katsu

First time I tried this place the food was great! Looks like other members have had the same experience as me. My first time the food was great, but the last few times the food is not fresh, looks like the chicken katsu was reheated on the grill, the chicken was dry. Very disappointing. Pretty sure this is not the standard or if the cooks are reheating the food to save some time but really hope this issue gets fix and ensure the meals are fresh as they use to make them.

Lacking vegetables.

Ordered from here on a whim a little over a week ago. It was amazing. Couldn't wait to eat there again. We went in person this evening. Must be a different cook. The food was cold, slimy and tasted old. It was pretty gross and lacking in vegetables. Won't be back since they can't stay consistent.

Bug in my food. The meat tasted weird. Very disappointed and I won't be eating here again

When I came in to pick up my food there was no one at the host stand and it seems like there was one waiter running the whole show during busy lunch time. Little teeny tiny parking lot but it's right across from the shopping centre parking so not a big deal.

This place named itself "sushi bar," but it also says it's an authentic Mexican seafood restaurant?…read moreThat feels like an identity crisis lol. I was given chips, salsa, and an appetizer soup thing in a cup. The chips were fine. I thought the soup was alright. I didn't like the salsa as I found it too watery and lacking in flavor, more like a hot sauce than a salsa. I ordered two hand rolls, a spicy tuna roll and a salmon skin roll. I thought they were good. I found the salmon skin too crispy and deep fried for my preference, but it was still good. Finally, I realized that not only do I never eat authentic Mexican seafood, I'm not even sure what that entails. So I dug through the menu and saw something called "Don Tono," described as stuffed with seafood, but without much other explanation. I asked the waitress what this Don Tono is exactly, and to my surprise, she wasn't sure either. So, of course I had to order it. It was a big thing of aluminum foil with goodies inside, kinda like a seafood bake. It was good, although I found the flavor to be a undertuned. I would've liked some Cajun seasoning. The best texture and taste was probably the fish itself as it was light and flaky without being mushy, and it absorbed the umami of some of the other seafood. I thought the shrimp and shellfish were just okay, and maybe just a tad overcooked for me. Honestly, I was also not a huge fan of the cheese here; I feel like it doesn't quite fit. I also got some rice and salad with it, which were both fine.

First let me start with the customer service, it was great, from the door to getting seated to the waiters checking on us & the cooks smiling & the speed & quality of the service was all great. And the prices are very reasonable, they don't open till 5 tho, for dinner basically, weekends can get busy so get there early. The food was very good, I got the Chula Vita Ramen & I'd get it again, very filling & flavorful. The sushi was very fresh & good & filling as well, Abre La Boca Mucho was our fav roll, it can be shared with another person for sure, Viva Chula Vista was a good roll too. Miso soup was ok & no garlic edamame they have lemon butter edamame, if you like lemon & butter flavor you'll like it, it was ok but it lack a bit of flavor for me. My fav item here was the Jalapeño Popper as an appetizer, 8 pieces & man let me tell you, it was mouth watering & on point, it's a must to start with. Overall I good little spot & we come again for sure, keep up the good work Naruto & see you soon :)

I got an oyakodon and the spicy champon…read more The oyakodon was way better than the one I had at Hanamichi. The rice was hot and moist, but not mushy, and the chicken was soft and juicy. That was great as your average American joint nukes the chicken until it's overcooked jerky. I did feel that the egg was somewhat understated in comparison. Also, the rice was moist, but I didn't really taste much extra flavor. It's not exactly saucy, but you can add your own seasoning I supposed. The spicy champon was good. The presentation does seem a bit dark for a champon? I'm not sure why, am I crazy? For the broth, I would've liked it be a bit creamier. I also found the noodles to be a tad thin and small portion. For the other ingredients, the meat was okay, and I definitely wasn't a fan of the giant scallion cuts. Miso soup was fine. And free edamame! This place is also seems relatively authentically Japanese.

Double-edged sword: Decent rolls, but the cleanliness needs a major upgrade…read more I really wanted to give this place a chance, but the environment made it hard to fully enjoy the meal or even go in. I almost turned around. The Food: 3/5 To be fair, the sushi itself is okay. It's not top-tier, blow-your-mind gourmet, but the fish tasted fresh enough, and the rolls were decent for a casual sushi fix. If you're just looking for standard, passable sushi, it does the job. The Ambiance & Cleanliness: 1/5 This is where things took a nosedive. The entire restaurant felt incredibly dirty and unkempt. The tables were sticky, the floors looked like they hadn't seen a proper mop in a while, and the overall surrounding area just felt dusty, neglected, and abandoned. It's really hard to relax and enjoy raw fish when you're constantly looking around wondering when the place was last deep-cleaned. The Verdict: The kitchen staff seems to be doing their part, but the front of house/management really needs to step up their sanitation game. Until they give the place a serious scrub-down, I'll probably be looking elsewhere for my sushi cravings. Questionable if I ever return. Would recommend if u absolutely must have some kind of sushi. Note: No AYCE price and no half rolls.

Food is always fresh, delicious, comes out piping hot and fast!…read more There's a reason why this place gets so busy, the service is awesome, quick, friendly, and straight to the point. It's a small shop with about 10-12 tables, but very warm and cozy. They also do party platters. So in case you're in a pinch, they'll get your orders to you with a quickness!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Tasty Malatang Chinese Cuisine was…read moredisappointing because of the customer service. According to the restaurant's posted hours, they close at 10:00 PM. My family and I arrived around 9:15 PM, expecting that we still had enough time to order dinner. As soon as we walked in, the server immediately told us they were already closed. My mother politely pointed out that the posted closing time was 10:00 PM and simply asked if the kitchen happened to close earlier than the dining room. Instead of explaining the situation professionally, the server responded in a very rude tone: "Well, you guys can eat and order, but at 10:00 PM you need to be gone and out the door." Another employee then stepped in to back him up, making the interaction feel even more uncomfortable. I completely understand how the restaurant business works. I've been around the industry long enough to know that kitchens often stop taking orders before closing or that staff are trying to finish cleaning at the end of the night. If they had simply said, "We're sorry, but our kitchen is already closed," or even, "We can still serve you, but we're finishing up for the night," we would have completely understood. There was no reason to speak to us disrespectfully. What made this experience frustrating is that we never came in with an attitude or demanded special treatment. We were polite from the moment we walked through the door. We simply asked a reasonable question based on the restaurant's posted business hours, and instead of receiving a courteous explanation, we were met with unnecessary hostility. Customer service is just as important as the food. A welcoming attitude can make guests want to return, while a rude interaction can overshadow everything else. Unfortunately, this experience left such a negative impression that I won't be returning. I also would not feel comfortable bringing my family or recommending this restaurant to friends because everyone deserves to be treated with basic respect. I hope management takes this review as constructive feedback and reminds their staff that even when it's close to closing time, a little kindness and professionalism go a long way.
