The pairings and taco selection was unique but not overly adventurous, which I like. Great beer selection. I ordered a half dozen oysters on the half shell. They were outstanding. Extremely fresh and cold. They didn't need anything but a little lemon and my only regret here was only ordering 6. For the main course I ordered the lobster tempura tacos. They were absolutely perfect. Far exceeding my expectations. The outside was exceptionally crisp but not oily. The jicama and cucumber slaw added such a great freshness that enhanced every bite. I love that they have a little outdoor space facing the west toward the ocean. We arrived during happy hour, and although there weren't that many patrons on a Tuesday afternoon, service was a bit slow. We ordered the fish tacos, calamari and oysters. The calamari is different than from other places. It is softer rather than crunchy but the taste is pretty good. The same cannot be said for the fish taco. It left much to be desired. It was very bland, the tortilla was soggy , and the sauce appeared to be at the bottom of the fish rather than the top. It was a generous portion of a taco, but it really lacked in flavor and was messy to eat. The oysters were decent. The happy hour price did go up by a dollar and the Moscow mule was on point. The sauce, kale, chick peas, golden raisins, and sausage made it delicious! 4/5 stars I got the lobster tacos. We went out to the local Brigantine for dinner last night. I ordered the salmon that's on the regular menu with the mustard cream sauce on the side and lightly blackened. It was fantastic and looking forward to ordering it again. The service is always special with KAT... everything she does is personalized. So if you're in Imperial Beach belly up at the bar and have a bite to eat... highly recommend. For a drink, you could try her Mai Thai or on tap the June Summer desert cooler kombucha... it has been nice for the summer. Course anything that KAT makes is so delicious. read more

Chowder was very good along with the salad. Pretzels were a bit too doughy and soft (reminded us of mall pretzels) and dipping sauces just okay, mustard(s) would be a better choice. You guys, the weather was chef's kiss: sunny with a light breeze. We grabbed a table at the bar and in the sun and honestly... perfection. The macadamia nut + coconut-crusted French toast immediately caught my eye so I paired it with scrambled eggs. Hubby went for the skirt steak chilaquiles and said it was fire. This spot is our go-to when we want beach vibes without fighting the crowds. They also accept OpenTable reservations, so if you're coming during peak brunch hours, book ahead. This is a biased review as not only was I relatively intoxicated here and potentially made some friends, but this is also waaayy too close to my new apartment, and I will certainly end up here again. And I didn't even drink that much.....in my opinion. The drinks here are REALLY strong. Like, I get an old fashioned fairly often, and I've almost never gotten one this strong. I was practically in Narnia prancing with fauns after the first glass. One of these cocktails is like........five cocktails on Coronado. Lol. Whenever we visit Imperial Beach we always have lunch at Brigantine. We always find parking in the free public lot a block and a half down the street. We come for an early lunch and haven't ever had to wait for a table. We always sit outside and enjoy the view. The service is always excellent and I've never been disappointed with my meal. I recommend the fish tacos! I've also enjoyed the shrimp and crab Louie salad for a lighter option. My only complaint is the cocktails, they can be pricey and in my experience have been hit and miss. I stick to my favorite glass of wine now. I recommend giving this Brigantine location a try. read more

In town visiting and decided to check out the Pier. Brigantine is right at the start of it with some lovely outdoor seating and big doors opening to the inside. Was sat very quickly on a Monday afternoon. A little confusion between who was our server or not, but drinks and food came quick. We went to the Brigantine in Imperial Beach today with our friends, Bill and Toni. It was our first time going to that location and sadly, it will also be our last. We usually go to the La Mesa location, or the Embarcadero or Point Loma locations and they're always great so I was anticipating that IB would be the same. I called the IB location a couple weeks ago to ensure I'd be able to order from the dinner menu and the woman that answered said no problem. My stomach was all set for the Crab Stuffed Tiger Shrimp but when Andrew came to take our order he wasn't familiar with it. I told him it was on the dinner menu and that I had seen it listed on their online menu earlier today. His comment was, "oh, we haven't updated the online menu in a long time." What's the point of having an online menu if it's not going to be kept up to date? I ended up ordering swordfish instead and although it tasted fine, it was not what I had been craving. Additionally, both the accompanying green beans and carrots were hard, cold, and impossible to cut so I didn't eat them. However, I did enjoy the yellow squash. When placing my order initially, I asked to start with a cup of Clam Chowder because I like it as an appetizer. It came at the same time as the swordfish. Andrew was very courteous but when he dropped our checks off at the end of the meal, he disappeared and my husband and Bill had to pay at the bar on the way out. Super busy not enough help, ordered appetizers "wings " didn't get napkins or utensils had to ask for everything. The food is good however they need help. Sat with an empty glass for a while I had to hunt someone down for a refill. They need help if you don't have patience don't eat here! Finally got a refill of ice tea asked for a cup of ice with it as the ice was melted the cup of ice never came. I wish there was a way to make a 3.5 stars. For happy hour, they have an amazing menu with great prices. The service was pretty friendly, but my food wasn't the best. I ordered the limp calamari sticks and it came with some weird cheese sauce that I didn't care for. The ahi slider was trash, but the table next ours looked delicious and totally different. Fried fish was gold and tasty, the octopus is served on such a nice mix of caramelized onion, kale, chickpeas and chorizo, the macadamia crusted Mahi was such a generous portion and served with such a good risotto. It wasn't my first option to go here but the guy I was dating was eager to show off his high dining potential so I figured why the heck not? Truth be told, I don't remember much about being here other than enjoying a gloriously tasty pool of Fondue. Unfortunately, it made my date fart REPEATEDLY in his sleep as he laid himself all over me in my truck at the drive-in theatre down the street *eye roll*... but that's a whole other story! Thankfully neither of those circumstances are my problem. I can say that the food and the service at this location is what you expect from a high quality restaurant. I also remember enjoying their beer selection and I was able to snag a decent IPA with a handsome ABV. I still have much to explore on their menu because a little bird told me that there's a better Brigantine location with an epic view next to the Star of India. "Just one drink ...only one drink" is what I typically tell my partner. I now see why we keep coming back (on occasions) to Brigantine restaurant on Seacoast drive. It's their Margarita drink and the view of Imperial Beach. There was no other way to have it. This time, the holiday lights were lit and I was extra excited about that. We made it over to Brigantine around 5pm, on Saturday, December 9th. The place wasn't packed at the time. Sports on TV and music was playing. We immediately got seated at the bar. Seated at our favorite spot, looking towards the beach area. The bartenders on shift were Krissy and Kat. If you want a perfect margarita - ask for Krissy. She was the person responsible for making the best tasting margarita in town (with a jalapeño kick). The just "one drink" proposal ended up to be 4 margaritas later. After glorifying how delicious the drink were, we had to let Krissy know she had made them just perfect, without complaints. Trust me, there's been many a times our margaritas had to be re-done/returned at other bars (too sour, too weak, too this, too that, too etc). Krissy, being humble that she was, did not take all the credit. She pointed out and stated that the drinks were only good because she was trained well by Kat. Let me also add, both Krissy and Kat were not only friendly but were attentive bartenders. Not only to us, but to all that were around the bar (13-15 people ). We were overly satisfied, on that note. Could not drink without any appetizers, so a Cesar salad, calamari strips and 3 oysters were added to our bar night outing. Brigantine's Cesar salad has always been good. It had the right tasting Cesar's dressing, but I still added extra Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of lemon to boost. The calamari strips were good the way it was. The oysters, on the other hand, were surprisingly, extra small (2" shells). They could have been a normal size to Brigantine standards but definitely not what we're use to compared to Mexico's size (3-4" shells). Nonetheless, oysters were tasty and consumed in no time. Dislike: the bar does not offer a selection of appetizers for bar consumers only... something for drinkers to snack on while drinking at the bar. Today was my second time here. Service was great as before. We were seated fast and attended to right away. Food came out fast, and we were checked on frequently. Now, for this visit I would have gave a 4 1/2 star rating if I could. The reason it was not a 5 star this time. Was due to a couple of things. Maybe it was due to the warm day. The restaurant had quite a bit of flys. We had to fight them off during the whole meal. We were sitting in doors, in case you are wondering. The lobster tempura tacos, were okay. The lobster was lightly battered, and the meat was tender. I got more of a shrimp taste, rather than lobster. I did like the taste and texture, but $28 is a little too much for me on this dish. The macadamia crusted mahi, was cooked to protection. You get a light macadamia flavors on the crust. It is lightly crunchy, with a flaky mahi underneath. The restaurant was a little crowded and nosier than normal. I will come back again and try something new. read more

Grabbed dinner here while in town. We dined in and the service was prompt, really nice waiter. Our meals were excellent, hot and served to us pretty quickly. Our only issue was that other customers had brought in dogs who were loudly barking at each other the entire time. We don't mind dogs, and did see it was a dog friendly place but these dogs were not "well behaved." This was really the only downside, a good spot overall especially in a place that doesn't have a ton of higher end spots to dine. read more
