3 item bento box--we chose beef teriyaki, tonkatsu, and eggrolls. Comes with a side of rice and salad!
    Emily M.

This mom and pop shop has been opened since 1985 and I can see how they've managed to stay open for so long. It's located in a business plaza which is highly convenient for those who work in the area. The restaurant is run by a very sweet, hardworking Mongolian couple who've managed to wow my gf and I the last two times we've been here. The first time we came, we ordered the 3 item bento box special with beef teriyaki, tonkatsu, and eggrolls. It comes with rice and salad too. We also ordered the (I think this was the name) orange blossom roll. Absolutely everything was delicious and we were pleasantly surprised! The tonkatsu was juicy and tender unlike most other places I've tried before. The beef teriyaki was also tender, cooked to perfection. The sauces they had for both the teriyaki and the tonkatsu was soooo gooood. The eggrolls were also pretty good, nice crunch to it, but I don't remember it wow-ing me. The salad was fresh, my only nitpick is that I wish they used thousand island dressing instead of ranch. Now the orange blossom roll was a blessing because they gave us really thick cuts of salmon on top. I mean they were not stingy with it at all. From the salmon itself to the avocado and the masago, everything came together so well. And you wouldn't think that sushi from a random business plaza joint would be good but trust me, this was delicious. Definitely going back to try other rolls. Now for our second visit, we decided to try their breakfast and were also pleasantly surprised. My gf and I both ordered the stacked pancakes that comes with pancakes, eggs, your choice of ham, bacon, or sausage (we went with sausage), and their home potatoes. Please believe me when I tell you this was one of the most satisfying breakfasts I've had in my entire life. You can just tell that everything was made with love, cheesy as it sounds, it's true. The pancakes had that perfect, fluffy consistency, and was a good amount of buttery. Their sausage patties were delicious and a good portion size to go with their home potatoes, which were equally yummy. They're soft and fluffy with the potato skin still on, yum. I had also ordered a coffee which wasn't anything too special, but it's coffee from a mom and pop so I won't discount them for that. All in all, this seems like a pretty solid place to have either breakfast or lunch at. It's a shame they're not open for dinner cuz I wouldn't mind grabbing a bite to eat here after 4pm, but definitely worth it to try most items they have on their menu. They seem like they can do it all.

The only reason this place is getting a star is because the food is actually not bad. I am however highly disappointed over the service and cost. I have stopped coming to plaza Cafe for a few months because of Roses bad attitude and practices of the establishment charging $.23 for Togo box. This charge should be included in the overhead cost of running a business. However back to the main point bad service. Today I gave it another try, I knew I would be charged extra for the items I ordered (lemon and chili oil). However Rose was trying to give me less sauce and still charging me $.23 for it. I then confronted her and she then added more to the sauce but still did not fill it. Point is if you're going to find ways to charge customers extra fill up the container you're charging them for.

So close to my work, will def go here again when I forget to bring food. Portions were large, food was good. I got: Breakfast burrito, $8- huge, had eggs, bell peppers, cheese, onions, rice. Overall yum, filling and worth $8. Breakfast food available until 1130! Bento ($13) with teriyaki salmon, spicy chicken. Spicy chk was mild (aka I can tolerate it and Im a spice wimp). Salmon had good flavor and texture. Came w rice, salad, miso soup. Overall great value! Overall pleased w this place! Lots of selections too.

5 stars. For the price of the food which is really cheap this place is good. Quality food. 4 stars won ton soup. Broth was good. Won tons were above average. For $6.99 this is a good deal. 5 star chicken ramen. Lots of noodles. Lots of ingredients. Big chunks of chicken. For $9.99 this is good.

This is a small business that services the local businesses with a variety of different foods from ramen, sushi, pho, to classic sandwiches and breakfast foods.. all the meals come in hearty portions. Little did you know there is a secret menu for Mongolian Food here. The only place in Sacramento that serves authentic Mongolian food. No, not Mongolian Bbq nor Mongolian beef. You can order Tsuivan-Fried Noodle Dish with Beef and Veggies Buuz-steamed Mongolian Soup Dumplings Khuushuur. There are two types. Naadam Style and Homemade style. Favorites of Mongolians when eating out is Naadam Style. They also serve National Potato Salad and cabbage and carrot salad. Try it out! Very kind service.

The Yelp reviews were great, as were recs by some of my coworkers, so a colleague and I opted for lunch here. The menu is very broad. Like extremely. Very international. My colleague opted for a bento box and enjoyed it. I was on the fence - burger, pastrami sando, bento box, pho, etc... I went with sushi. Don't know what I was thinking. A few bites in I knew I couldn't finish it. Something was off. Later that afternoon I suffered for my poor life choices. Needless to say - never going back.

Sushi rolls $5 or so and mushroom swiss burger $6.29!
    Vince Y.

I stopped here 30 minutes before closing on a weekday to get a quick grab for din din. I got the mushroom swiss burger and my daughter picked 2 spicy tuna rolls for herself and mom. It was made while I waited. 10-15 minutes. I took it home to consume. My burger was of average size. The meat was definitely of the frozen patty variety. Not great. $6.29. My other 2 said their spicy tuna rolls were average. Not very good but decent. $5.50 each. Pricing is good. Quality is in the middle. Mom and pop cafe. They only open M-F 6:30am-5pm for mostly the working class breakfast and lunch. They have a pho I may drop by to try out. The menu is vast with coffee, sandos, burgers, breakfast plates, pho, etc. They are located down a tad from the corner of Del Paso Rd. and Northgate Blvd.

I tried their sukiyaki set, both wagyu and seafood. I wish they had given some instructions on the approach or order I should eat the sets of food. It was a little chaotic trying to figure out how I could submerge all the ingredients in the broth so they would cook evenly. The tempura is perfectly crispy, but the rice was a little brittle and got dried really fast. The texture was more like Vietnamese broken rice, and it caught me off guard because when I tried their sushi a while ago, they used very high-quality rice. As is typical with sukiyaki, the broth becomes very flavorful at the end, absorbing all the flavors from high-quality ingredients, but my udon got a little dry while waiting. Since I tried both set, the wagyu sukiyaki broth became a little too sweet at the end. My favorite is definitely the seafood sukiyaki broth. Would I try these pricy sukiyaki again? Probably not. Would I go back to Azayaka again? 100%. This would not discourage me from going back there any amount.

Before that, I remember when this spot used to be Tasty House. Small parking lot shared with a smog station off of Stockton Blvd between Fleming and Chandler/66th, a block south of Florin. Super small dining room capacity too, I'd say maybe less than 50 people? I've also tried their pork katsu appetizer and caramel matcha with salted cheese cream. This most recent visit, I was torn between the katsu or katsu curry donburis, but ultimately went with the tamagoyaki unagi don and a caramel milk tea. Shared the chicken karaage which was perfectly breaded, crispy, thick and juicy with every bite just like last time. Honey mustard dipping sauce on the side. Also shared one sushi taco (this time salmon/sake) and Mom got the beef gyudon. Other than matcha or milk tea, they also have seasonal drinks like guava, butterfly tea, ube, peach oolong, Japanese coffee, etc. Next time might go for a ramen to try or that rich curry udon dish. I will also say a sushi taco is easier to eat than a handroll or a sushi burrito. The wooden spoons were interesting for the rice bowls. The portions are pretty big and this cute little spot in South Sac is worth checking out! Open 11:30am-9pm daily.
