This place is hit or miss. I guess it depends who is cooking the food I've eaten here 3 times over the past year and it was great once and average the other 2 times. I always go with the garlic shrimp and steak. I will give them one more shot. read more

This place sucks! I got the seafood in red sauce. When it came out it smelled old. the fish had gone bad. When I eat one piece of fish it tasted rotten. So if you want to overpay for food and then spend the night in hospital for food poising then by all means eat here. read more

Yep Teros....I have not been to your restaurant in 4 years and NOW I recall why!!! Despite the food being pretty good.... THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. We were a party of three for dinner, NO Apps, NO Desert, and it was over 3 hours! That was AFTER I approached the owner for our check. The after dinner drinks never arrived after 22 minutes! (That as after speaking to our waiter twice, and even another waiter too.) After all these years they STILL cant get it right. Just terrible! OH WAIT....I went to the rest room and they blocked me in with a tray table (I am not a big person). The waiter then moved the tray and left that stand in the way. I had to move it to get out of the hallway! The two stars is ONLY for the food. I wish there were negative stars on service! I wont be back...ever! Don't judge a book by its cover, Tero's is a wonderful place for seafood. Rose the bartender knows how to make you feel at home and can make a mean sangria. My girlfriend and I split a mixed seafood grill platter. The portions were huge and delicious. I will definitely go back. Just ate here tonight and it was some of the worst service I've ever had. The waiter seemed like he was drunk. Spilled water and sangria everywhere when pouring it. Speaking of water - we waited 10-15 minutes before we were even given water to drink. We had to flag our waiter and another waiter down twice to get something to drink. Food took forever to come out. We thought they forgot our soup until we reminded them. The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food was decent. However, completely overpriced for the quality of service. When we complained, we got no real apology. They just said, "everyone has bad days." I would say skip it. read more

This review is based on my one visit on a Friday for happy hour. Staff was friendly. The establishment was clean. Drinks were good. I'm from Hudson County and I also lived in Newark for a while so I know my Spanish food and the tapas were pretty good. I'd say above average. They also had frog legs which I usually don't dive into on a whim without knowledge of the establishment but I went for it one martini in. They were to die for. My only issue was that the chorizo was about as soft and tasty as a hockey puck. I told one of the managers or owner? about it since I could only swallow one piece and it was like she could care less. I don't know why some eateries are like that. I've been in the restaurant business for 25 years just apologize and take it off the bill then try and make it better. 3.5 stars. I may try it again one day but I'm not sure. If the good issue was handled differently I'd say I'd got there again for sure. 3.5 stars. read more

I was hoping for a different outcome and wish I could have given a better review. I had heard good things about this restaurant so I decided to check it out last night. I left feeling like I just threw my money away. The wait was pretty bad. They do alert you that the wait is long because they make food to order. I understood that but, my partner and I had empty glasses of wine for a while before anyone asking if we needed anything. After the very long wait, they brought out my meal which was literally a "burned" lobster. I mean the claw was literally black from the burn and it also tasted burned. I was going to send it back but figured it would be another long wait to get anything else so I tolerated it and ate what I could avoiding the burned parts. To make matters worse, I had only two glasses of wine and they charged me for 3. Luckily I noticed this on the receipt before paying. We also overheard the people in a table near us ask the waiter if they had a new chef. Something is not right. We will definitely not be back and hope they can rectify these issues. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner last night. We sat in the bar area so we can watch the Yankee game while eating dinner. I was undecided what to get for dinner between beef and Seafood. I asked the server if I could have the seafood without mussles or squid. The server went into the kitchen to find out if it was possible. She came back to our table and said yes. So I ordered the seafood. I have done this many time in other resturants. When my dinner came there was squid in pot. My husband called the server over and we told her that he had squid in it. Another woman either the manager or the owner of the restaurant came over and asked me if I was Allergic to squid I said no but I don't like it. She then said she would take it back and make a new one. The rice, vegetables and Spanish potatoes on a different plate which were left when she took the pot back to remake the seafood. My husband was eating his dinner I was still waiting for mine to be remade after waiting about 10 minutes and my husband was almost done and my rice potatoes and vegetables were cold the pot of seafood came out the manager or the owner did apologize but I do feel that the rice the vegetables and the potatoes should have been taking back also so everything was hot. I have been to many Spanish and Portuguese restaurants and this is far the worst that I've ever eaten at. I do understand this stuff happens but I believe they should have at least took everything back so I could have a hot meal and half was hot and half was cold was not right. I do understand this stuff happens because the cooks are used to making it one way. But when you ask first if they could make it and they say yes it should come out the first time correct. This is one restaurant I will never go back to first time there and the last time. read more

Love this place . We have been here a few times and never disappointed. Portions are very generous, great selection and very reasonable . The staff is awesome and knowledgeable the owners are excellent they are always around and making sure everything is ok. I highly recommend them . This place is within walking distance. When my wife was pregnant, she would mosey on over and pig out. She would rave about the skirt steak. I was working nights at the time, so my wife would dine alone. She would rave about the food. One Saturday, we went in, and I was glad we did. The food was good. I eat there regularly. A horrible embarrassment. Staff was very rude. Food was undercooked. My wife got Penne Vodka spilled in her hair by the waiter who just laughed it off. We were a party of 10. One person asked about something on the menu and the waiter got mad and left. No one got their drinks. When we finally got our orders in, food came out very quickly but undercooked. Five of us ordered steaks medium well and all steaks came out rare and bleeding. They were sent back and came back burnt on the outside but still very red and bleeding on the inside. I sent mine back being disgusted so I didn't get to eat. Needless to say no one else ate. I did speak to the manager and told her about the food and the spilled Penne Vodka in my wife's hair and was rewarded with a check with the one steak I sent back taken off the bill. The waiter practically threw the bill at us. Not a very good way to blow $350 on our Easter meal. We are never going there again. read more

I had a bad experience with this restaurant. It was my daughter's birthday and she told me that she wanted seafood for lunch. We thought of Tero's because the restaurant was in our neighborhood of Lyndhurst. I ordered the appetizer Fried Calamari & Paella Valenciana (dinner size). My husband picked this up at 11:36 am, 30th of March. We went to our daughter's home and when we started our lunch, all 4 of us were disappointed. The Calamari was very chewy and the paella was hardly what was depicted on their website photos. There were no sausages and the chicken was thinly sliced as if they were sparing on this. I contacted them but management never responded to my complaint. Just to inform you customers to check on your take out orders before leaving the restaurant. read more

Well I finally went to Tero's and it was horrible. I have been living in Lyndhurst for over 5 years and was curious about this restaurant. We were a party of 5. The food mediocre, nothing to jump up and down for. The service was a total joke. The waiters were playing with food, unwilling to do what they were asked to do and screaming out commands. The wait staff is very pleasant. The complimentary salad was a good variety of vegetables, but ask if they have oil and vinegar, or you're going to get some bottled Wishbone Italian or something similar; wasn't a fan of the dressing. My spouse ordered surf & turf and loved it. I ordered paella with chicken, sausage and shrimp, and got, instead, the total seafood paella with a lobster on top. Never...Ever!!! Again! I arrived with my husband and my 2 daughters, ages 22 and 23. The service sucked. The waiter appeared to not even pay attention to the drink order and it was evident when he arrived back 20...yes 20 minutes later. It was a Saturday evening, but the place was only half full. 45 minutes after the food order was placed, the waiter showed up with all of it...including the appetizers that were cold. Yeah you get a lot, but if it's bad food...it's bad food. Was at Teros last night very disappointed. The last time I was there was the Friday before fathers day and we had then the stuff shrimp very salty. We mentioned it to the manager and we told her about the last experience and we wanted to make sure that this time the food was done correctly. Well she made a comment last night that shocked me if you are not satisfied the door is over there you can leave but you still have to pay for the meal you cannot return it that how it's made. I have gone to many restaurants before here in NJ and NY. I never heard such a remark. Also the food took forever . Very dissapointed. The food is always good. My wife recently ordered take out. The guy was hard to communicate with and hung up before taking her name. When I got there a half hour later it was obvious the order had not been started. I sat at the bar while my wife waited in the car a half hour. I was here 07/03/18 . Mind you I havent been here in about a year. Every time we went there was a problem. But this night I felt like ordering tapas, and thought I'd give him a try again. Well most of the good or popular tapas was removed from the bar menu and put on the regular menu. OK so I'll pay a bit more. My partner ordered grilled shrimp w/ garlic sauce but specified , sauce on the side and NO seasonings. It came out with garlic sauce on the shrimp. He sent it back and it came back washed off of the sauce. We know because the garlic was imbedded in the shrimp. Well he at it! I ordered pork cubes w/ the peppers, onions and fries. It comes out with added chorizo sausage. Actually more sausage than pork. I told the bartender and he said thats how it comes. I said I've ordered many times and it doesnt come w/ sausage. He didn't reply. I mentioned it to Teros's wife and she said thats how it comes. I said thats not what is mentioned in the menu, she opens the menu and looks at it and shrugs her shoulders and walks away ( that' s very professional of a business owner) Never took a discount off the bill or bought us a drink. (They never do so why think they would ) I have NO plans on going back but its a shame because he ost a good customer and many more as I will spread the news..... read more

I was there yesterday (on a Saturday night), and the food, atomosphere, service, drinks -- everything was absolutely wonderful. The owner was actually cooking that night and the food was fantastic -- DELICIOUS! My family and I go there quite often, but always on a weekday and we never have any complaints; but I have got to say that LAST NIGHT WAS THE BEST QUALITY OF FOOD AND SERVICE IN ALL OF THE TIMES THAT WE HAVE GONE THERE. A nice range of choices on the daily menu with tasteful specials. Very good steak and lobster. Steak is cooked the way you ask for it to be cooked and lobster is cooked the way it should be cooked. Stuffed chicken and fish dishes prepared very well. Chicken cordon bleu and salmon with crab meat were just right, with the various elements in each dish blended impeccably. Veal and pasta very good as well. Did not try the paella, but would like to on another visit. I do not care much for fried calamari, but I loved the calamari appetizer here - only rings with light breading. Spanish sausage appetizer was not too generous - but mixed with a lot of seasoned carrots, cauliflower, and a hot pepper - and a bit burnt at the edges, but still good. The food came out somewhat slow but the service was attentive, which I am very happy with because I don't like feeling rushed in a restaurant (all food was served appropriately hot). We tried only the oreo cake dessert, and it was really good. The décor is nice but nothing special. Parking is on the street and not too hard to find a space within a block or so even during busy times. Prices are reasonable. read more

A large group of 30 or so of us went there in November with my daughter's soccer team. Everything was excellent - the food was outstanding, the sangria great and the waiters were very patient especially dealing with ten year old kids! We came here on Father's Day 2015 at night, 5 adults and 1 kid. We live in Lyndhurst and my husband is from Lyndhurst so we came here with his fathers family for dinner. Not too much customers at that time with many empty seating. The service was HORRIBLE!!! It took over an hour to receive our food and when we received our food, it didn't all come at once. They didn't even refill our waters during our long wait and the waiters just kept passing us by and didn't even update us about our food. On top of all that, when the hungry kid finally received his food, he received the wrong entree! He got the kid's steak instead of the mozzarella sticks! So finally we had enough and complained to the manager. She just shrugged it off and said they had been busy throughout the day because of the holiday (so what if they were busy earlier in the day ... at the time we were there, half of the tables were empty).
