We love Tejo! We've gone quite a few times, usually for a date night but also with a group of 12 or so people and it's wonderful for any occasion. There's a large bar area that we have never sat at though it does appear to be quite popular on the weekend. They start by bringing warm bread to the table which already makes it a winner in my book. We often get the white sangria as well which is delightful. I'm guilty of finding something I like and only ordering that one dish over and over and here, that dish is their stuffed salmon with crabmeat stuffing. It comes with a side of potatoes and veggies. I've had the same dish at other Portuguese restaurants and this is my favorite variation. The prices are reasonable for the quality and amount of food they give you. Service is always top notch as well. I'm very fortunate to have such an incredible restaurant close to home! read more

We're in January but I am still soaking up all the holiday decorations during dinner while I can! We came to Tejo for dinner and it was decked out in red for the holidays :) For food, we shared the shrimp with garlic sauce and chorizo. It's a must have if you ask me - we order it every time we go! For dinner, I ordered from the specials and had the filet Mignon steak with shrimp and cheese. It was a little odd having the melted cheese but I didn't mind it! Of course, their meals come with a side of rice, vegetables and potato chips. Went here to celebrate someone's birthday. We arrived early so we decided to get drinks at the bar. The bar was packed so we sat a a bar table instead. The bartender was trying to help squeeze us in at the bar which was nice but we were content at the bar table. Drinks were pretty strong. When we transitioned over to the dining area we ordered a bunch of red and white sangrias for the table. They were so good but they weren't weak. Had us all feeling nice. The appetizers were delicious! When the entrees came out they were were HUGE! One entree could easily feed two or even three people! Everything was on point! Wish I had something good to say but unfortunately the owner of this restaurant is very petty my wife and I went there for dinner and the soda they serve is fountain soda disgusting so they do not have cans i went across the street and got 2 sodas but since I didn't get the drinks from this CHEAP as owner and she didn't make the $2.00 on the drinks they made a big deal about bringing in sodas from outside we left and went to "TASTE OF PORTUGAL in the iron bound section way better place fk this place never again read more

I got together with a friend to get some food and drinks. When I arrived I found parking nearby on the street. I walked into a very live bar and grill. I was lucky to find seats at the bar because it was super busy. Fraceli was our bartender, and she was nice. I started with the red sangria mini pitcher, and it was very good. For my meal, I got the whole red snapper. It did take quite a while for it to come out because they said it takes time for the snapper to prep. When it came out, it looked good. I dug in, and it was good, but I did have to add some salt because it was a little bland. The potatoes and mixed vegetables were good. The bill was really decent. If you're in a rush I'll make it quick: mais excelente! But if you have a minute and want to sit down and drink a galão together I can explain the five stars. I've been here twice in 2020 - during the winter when the world was still normal (relatively-speaking) and now in late spring (COVID still has everything messed up). Both times were exceptional. When me and my kids were able to come on a Friday night the place was packed (the bar area was two-deep) and the dining area had the staff literally sprinting throughout the restaurant doing their best to keep up with everything. You know the Portuguese only know how to make epic portion-sizes reasonably priced and as much as we tried to make a dent in our dishes... there's always leftovers. Our table wasn't even big enough to hold all of the rice and French fries and veggies and loaves of bread and... well, I made sure there was a spot for that delicious sangria. Not too sweet and the perfect beverage when your kids are picking on you and calling you a 'Boomer' throughout the dinner and you're trying to argue you're not THAT old, but a Gen X'er. I had a shrimp special the first time, a salmon dish the second and they were both brilliant. Kids: pasta one time (yes, they have a rather large menu), steak (filet for one, strip for the other) the second time and the Mrs. also kept raving about her seafood dish on the most recent visit. Great food. Cool staff. No qualms about the cost. I believe they have parking available across the street but I usually park a block away and pretend that little bit of exercise will help to burn off some of the calories after stuffing my face. read more

This place has gone downhill, the food is never hot, sometimes not even warm....seems like they just pour the hot sauces over the meal that has been sitting for a bit. Additionally, last weekend while I was sitting at the bar, I witnessed the bartender tie up the garbage, pull out the garbage can to the back door and dispose of garbage. I've Been Here a Number of times, the bar is nice, I've sat there & ordered one bourbon, one scotch & one beer... it came out to almost $30 but at least I got drunk! Very nice place for Friday nights. They have a live DJ on set by the bar. The ambient here is grown and mature. Decor and use a bit of facelift. I came here for the very first time a few months ago and NEVER WILL I GO BACK!! The servers can't speak English - hello???? This is America. Don't assume all of your customers will speak Portuguese. Are you freakin' kidding me? They got my order all wrong - how can you screw up a cheese steak sandwich??? Apparently, you don't have to try very hard. I ordered the sandwich with Portuguese chips instead of fries- so basically, they are like homemade potato chips. Sandwich comes out with fries. I send it back to get my potato chips. Sandwich comes back with fries again. I bite into the sandwich - no cheese. Um I ordered a CHEESE steak sandwich. I tell the server and I had to say no cheese in English, Spanish and Portuguese (at this point, I didn't know what language to use anymore to communicate with this moron) and she still didn't understand what was wrong. Then I ask her, where the hell the damn potato chips were considering I ordered the sandwich with chips and not fries. In reading the reviews we have 2 people who feel they got sick here? Why chance it! The last time I went here my credit card got 'hacked' by the server/bartender. I was able to track it down! We started with their house red sangria with fresh fruit in it and it was really good. We had a shrimp in garlic sauce appetizer that was succulent and delicious, especially when we dipped the Portuguese bread in the garlic sauce. We then had the stuffed flounder that was out of this world, and pistachio truffle for dessert. This was truly a very tasty dinner and I just loved the pistachio truffle! read more

I'm a huge fan of this restaurant, and I don't say that too often. Firstly, the Sangria is amazing and will definitely give you a buzz. If they have it on the menu and you like lobster, get the lobster salad, huge and delicious! I've had a few chicken and fish dishes here and I'm never disappointed. They also give you a ton of food. The staff is always really friendly too! My only minor complaint would be the ambiance. I feel that the food screams upscale and the place says "bar". There is a bar when you walk in and a restaurant to the left which is usually fairly quiet. I think they should have made the place a bit more upscale to match the food. read more
