Merriment Social is still a solid stop for hearty new American cuisine…read more Most recently I stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night. We didn't have reservations but were visiting at 5pm so were able to be seated straight away. For a starter, we ordered the brussels sprouts. Theirs are interesting. They're sweet and nutty, with pie crust crumbles on top, pecans, wildflower honey, and a thyme-creme fraiche. It's a truly unique and delicious dish and definitely was the star of our dinner show. For cocktails, I got their Basil Hayden boulevardier, which was pitch perfect. Their specialty cocktail menu has a little something for everyone--from smoky mezcal cocktails to herbaceous gin to fruity rum beverages--it's broad, mostly with twists on classics, but not necessarily deep. For my main, I got their chicken gyro club sandwich which was hearty and tasty (though not really gyro-like). It was huge! It comes served with crispy chicken cutlets, spinach-artichoke spread, muenster cheese, roasted tomato, romaine, and dilly ranch, all piled onto a hoagie and served with a side of fries. They don't skimp on the fries, either! I wasn't even able to finish half of the sandwich (which I absolutely had to eat with a fork and knife) and half the fries. I happily took it home for lunch the next day. The service was friendly and the prices are average (maybe just slightly on the higher end of average). Get to it!

One of the best happy hour deals in town! Tuesday through Friday from 4-6pm, they offer $6 bites…read moreand $9 drinks. If it's still available, the Burger Au Poivre is a must-try. For only $6, they serve a full sized portion which is one of the best values on the menu and an absolute steal for the quality you receive. The burger comes with caramelized onions, American cheese, crispy onions, au poivre sauce, garlic-herb aioli on a sesame milk bun (Note: one order per guest). From the happy hour menu, I also ordered the Halibut Fish Fry and the Shrimp Cocktail. The Shrimp Cocktail had a sweet and chili cocktail vinaigrette, which I really enjoyed. From the dinner menu, I had the Kale Cashew Caesar, Lobster Pot Pie, and the Ora King Salmon. To my surprise, the star of the show was the Kale Cashew Caesar, which staff recommended. What made this dish so special was the generous mound of shaved Gran Moravia piled on top, complemented by lemon breadcrumbs. The combination and texture was so fun to eat. The Lobster Pot Pie is offered at market price ($55 when I went). They give you generous chunks of butter-poached lobster tails, seasonal vegetables, lobster cream in their truffle puff pastry. The Ora King Salmon was also delicious. Salmon was cooked perfectly--light and moist. I enjoyed the black garlic gnocchi and the apple gastrique that came with this dish. I ended the night with their chai banana caramel creme brulee. I'll definitely be back for their happy hour and that Kale Cashew Caesar!

First time at this location. It was a decent experience…read more Food: We started with a couple of beverages: a beer for her and a hot tea for me. They carry Rishi teas, which always have great flavor. To start, we ordered the Korean cauliflower. It came out in a reasonable amount of time and had nice flavor, was served hot, and was a good portion. There were some nicely sized pieces on top, but underneath was a pile of smaller pieces that turned into a bit of a gooey mess. For our entrees, I had the Hot Bacon Salad, and she ordered the fish tacos. Both were good, served hot, and had solid flavor. Portions were generous, and we ended up taking some home. Service: Service throughout the meal was very good. They did a great job getting us settled with waters and menus. Our server was super enthusiastic and friendly, and the pacing was spot on. Nice job, Brandon. Atmosphere: It's a well-designed space. It was very busy, though there were still plenty of booths and seating options. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a small group that was video chatting and had a screaming baby on the other end. I like babies... just not while I'm eating. Overall: Mostly a good experience. I would go back, with a request to sit in a quieter area.
