Tre Rivali remains up there with one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Milwaukee. I always rec it to people, and always enjoy the occasions I dine in. The inside is so well done, from the design and decor to the furniture and overall atmosphere. Love their large dining room, and the curved bar closer to the entryway. Visually all very nice. Recently, I dined outside for the first time ever though and that was also lovely. Patio sits among the hustle and bustle of the Third Ward. My husband and I ordered drinks first. He got the fig old fashioned-of course I tried it- and it was delightful. I'm a big martini fan so I went with their signature, made with gin, and garnished with feta-stuffed olives. I mean yesss x10. As if those olives weren't enough, we ordered the olive dish from the shareables menu, along with the whipped feta. That came with roasted grapes, pistachio, pomegranate, and mint. Talk about flavorful! They get ya on having to order an extra serving of pita bread though. From the mains we had the seared scallops with ricotta dumplings, along with the woodfire grilled hanger steak, all to share. More bold flavors, more happiness with our choices! I loooooooove Tre Rivali!!! It's an iconic spot in third ward in my opinion. The outdoor bistro seating is so nice on a beautiful day. But if the weather does not permit, the inside is also so cute. Servers are always very nice and willing to give recs if you don't know what to order. And the food....you really can't go wrong. Get the whipped feta, it will not disappoint. We came here for brunch on a Saturday, as it's located inside the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel, which opens at 8 AM on Saturday and Sunday. We booked on OpenTable to be safe, but the restaurant wasn't busy when we were there. It definitely started getting busier closer to 9 AM. We appreciated the quick and friendly service of the staff. Serving portions were very large for the price of the entrées. I also appreciated that I could have a latte with oat milk. For two people each with a drink and an entrée each, came out to about $60 not including tip. However, the dishes overall fell short on favor. It was either strong pepper or little or no seasoning at all. On the positive side, they don't try to make it up with more salt. Stopped in here on a Saturday in June for a quick, early dinner before a concert. The patio is beautiful, sunny and comfortable, and the restaurant is part of the Kimpton Journeyman hotel. We had low expectations for a hotel restaurant, but Tre Rivali stands head and shoulders above typical hotel offerings. Service was friendly and staff was helpful and gave great recommendations on which dishes would be fastest. The Lamb Kawarma was absolutely delicious - fresh, tasty and quite filling for 2 people to share as a light dinner (we added a side salad). Getting the check delayed us a little, as our server disappeared and no one else wanted to take over her table. Another amazing hotel restaurant? Listen. I know this is typically kind of an anomaly. I travel a lot and can attest many, many hotel restaurants are pretty ho-hum. But, I do think that Milwaukee may just be the exception here. And, certainly Tre Rivali, located inside the Journeyman Hotel, is absolutely the exception. Chic and modern with a menu that intrigues and cocktails that delight, I have had many wonderful experiences here. Their meat and cheese boards are epic and well priced. I've ordered and quite enjoyed their scallops that come served with truffled parsnip cream, brown butter, hazelnut, brussels sprout leaves. Divine. It's not a hearty dish, though, so if you tend toward a hearty appetite, I'd recommend a starter of some kind. Or, perhaps dessert? I dined solo and my server was such a nice person who consistently and enthusiastically checked on me, refilled my water, and made order suggestions. This restaurant has been on my list for a long time. For our appetizer, we ordered the hummus, which originally only came with 2 small pieces of pita for 3 people ($13). Was a bit surprising, but our waitress kindly brought us more upon asking. Our cocktails were very icy. For my main I ordered the Campanelle, which was very rich and creamy. It was a bit dense for me, but that may just be my taste. Our waitress was very attentive. We stopped in expecting a decent experience, but it quickly became clear we weren't welcome. We asked for a table while there were multiple open, and were told they "weren't cleaning those right now." Meanwhile, staff stood around and made no effort to accommodate us. The whole interaction felt dismissive and honestly like they just didn't want to serve us. First impressions matter, and this one was awful. Such a disappointment! Reservations for 6 on a Sunday at 1 for my brother's birthday. I had high hopes when the hostess acknowledged the cause for celebration and took us to our table. Our server, Chelsea, was very young and seemed inexperienced. She wasn't terribly attentive, she didn't seem to know much about the food or drinks, and her timing was odd. For example, she placed ketchup and hot sauce on the table a good 20 minutes before the food arrived. The food was fine. Just fine. Nothing special. A tad overpriced. The server announced "last call" at about 2:20, which seemed odd to us. I guess they were closing? Or maybe our server just needed to get home because we didn't see her for a good 20-30 minutes before we left. She never offered dessert, never acknowledged the birthday. In fact, she set the bill down in front of the guest of honor. With $20 brunch entrees, I expect the service to be better. If the food was "to-die-for," I might give the place another chance. But, sadly, that's not the case here. We decided it must cater to the "one and done" tourist crowd. read more

My first time coming to Tre Rivali. I will say it was an overall good experience. The chickpea soup, Brussel sprouts, and salad were really good. I thought the broccolini didn't have any seasoning. I think it would have been better with some kind of sauce on the side. The service was great our waitress checked in often. I had such an amazing experience coming here! The service was great, the restaurant is gorgeous. It feels like a nice date-night spot. We tried the baba ghanoush, which was very tasty. However, it only came with 2 pieces of pita bread. For each "refill" of pita (aka 2 more pieces) it's an additional $1. That was a small con for me, but worth getting a couple extra pieces. What a cool mediterranean place in the journeyman hotel. Love the vibe anesthetics. Hostess and servers were quite friendly and informative. Reservations are recommended and I see why. It's pretty popular! The portions are definitely on the small side so if you're looking at yelp photos that aren't recent you might be surprised, and need to order extra sides. Baba Ganoush with pita bread was pretty good but not enough pita comes with it so if you ask for more bread it's $2 per pita . The swordfish is pretty much a half portion for $28 and topped with pearl onions which wasn't really an accompaniment. The pizza was a good portion and better choice for a fulfilling meal and the ricotta dumplings are also a small portion but quite tasty. If I went back it would just be for the pizza. read more

It is a lovely restaurant with a classic feel, the space is broken up enough that you don't feel like you're dining in a large restaurant. Dining on a Friday night we made sure to make a reservation. We visited during downtown dining week and was pleasantly surprised with the delicious options available on the special menu and the regular menu. I visited Tre Rivali on the evening of August 9th, and had a wonderfully abundant experience. I had seen great reviews for the restaurant on Instagram beginning in April and May of this year, and was surprised that I never knew of its location in the Third Ward. I am seemingly impressed with the growth of restaurants in the Third Ward, and Tre Rivali adds beautifully to the dining options. My three girlfriends and I decided to visit this new-to-us restaurant to celebrate our friendship, girlhood and Italian food, and Tre Rivali delivered a great ambiance and service. We were seated on the outside patio next to the sidewalk as the weather was perfect, and the patio was lined with beautiful red flowers (as seen behind the white wine in the photos) blocking most of the view of the street. I thought the sidewalk between our table and the restaurant was going to be busy but it was not busy at all. We ordered the House Made Focaccia Bread, Cheese and Charcuterie Board, and the Little Gem Caesar Salad for appetizers, and the charcuterie board was definitely my favorite. Our waiter explained the characteristics of the different cheeses and meats on the board, and the board also came with berries, nuts, fruit compote, mustard and more. My favorite aspect of the board was the honeycomb, and everything on the board was extremely fresh and flavorful. At first glance the crackers that came with the plate were not my first choice, but their length and width made it much easier for us to create different mixtures of meat, cheese and fruit than a different cracker would have. The caesar salad was also incredibly fresh and flavorful, and I'm not a huge fan of focaccia bread in general so it was very average to me. For drinks we ordered the Port de Palma and Sangria Rosada cocktails, as well as the L'aumonier Sauvignon Blanc, Touraine, FR and the Evermore zero proof cocktail. The Port de Palma is seriously the best paloma I have ever had. It was refreshing, you could adequately taste the grapefruit, lime, and rosemary, and it looked beautiful too. The Sauvignon Blanc, Evermore, and Sangria Rosada were also all delicious, but I was blown away by the paloma. We ordered the Margherita and Quattro Formaggi Rossa pizzas for our entrees and following the theme of the night... they were perfect. The pizzas were perfectly cooked throughout, the ingredients were extremely fresh, and they were both savory and perfectly salty. I feel as though I had high hopes before dining at this restaurant, but the experience truly exceeded my expectations. At Tre Rivali it is easily seen that every person working there puts time and effort into paying attention to small details to make the most of their customers' meals and experiences. They may have been down servers. But we had a reservation that we had to wait a bit for, and it took 29 minutes to get our drinks once we sat. That is just too long. Also the server said they would stage our food if we wanted to order everything at once and that just didn't happen. It's an expensive restaurant for that many issues IMHO. read more
