When I first heard Terra Breads was opening in the Olympic Village with a crazy monopoly on coffee in the neighborhood I was ticked. No Blends? No Starbucks? What? Then I tried their coffee and sandwiches and was instantly convinced. Coffee drinks are expertly brewed and sandwiches masterfully crafted with tasty ingredients. I'm not a huge fan of breads so I haven't tried any but their limited selection of desserts are yummy. The atmosphere is almost unrivaled. Nestled in the Olympic Village the bright yellow umbrellas and the warm glow of the lights are a welcoming sight from afar on a rainy day. Once you are inside you are greeted b a wealth of golden earth tones. The architectural details are amazing and just envelopes you in a homey, comfy feeling. There are fresh Gerber daisies in the vases on each table. It's wonderful to sit down and just enjoy the view. The staff will even bring your food/drink order to you. If you are looking for a water-view coffee house with an artisan feel and the price is not too much of a concern then Terra Breads is definitely a place to try. read more

Having to run errands with my mom, we found ourselves looking for a lighter lunch option on a Sunday. My mom was throwing all these 'heavy' feeding options that I was not too fond of on this day, so instead we decided to go share a sandwich, and at the same time buy a loaf of sourdough right here. I have been here many times, not once have I come to sit and eat here, until today. This place, as many who know, is located right in the heart of Olympic Village, and depending on if you sit to the North, there is a pretty nice view of downtown, also depening on the time you are in here, and if prime time lunch, it usually is packed! This place runs like a cafeteria, regardless of what you want to order, just get in line, usually it starts right at the entrance, whether you're taking out, eating in, or just grabbing a coffee, you are going to see everything this place has to offer. I really do like Terra's bread line-up (as in roster of items), and I find their pastries real good to, but what the heck was I going to have for lunch? Well you are in luck if you come here and actually do want to eat, as it is not just bread and pastries that are sold, but a wide selection of breakfast options, soup of the day, sandwich's, pizza, they even have local beer and wine to pair up your food... if you chose to do this. Sometimes when you are just looking at all the delightful items being displayed, like walking into a grocery store, you can get tricked into something else instead of what you intended to order, there was enough focus from us today to just order the portobello mushroom on grilled panini bread, and adding a coffee for good measure. We lined up, paid, and were presented a stick with a number on it and to find a seat and our order would be brought to us. After fighting to find a spot, this place was packed on this Sunday afternoon, we sat ourselves near the window facing BC Place. This place can be a great spot to lose yourself and people watch, like a school cafeteria.... people are orderly and if you can find a seat.. make sure you are eating and not loitering around! When our sandwich did come, it was cut right down the middle, and in between the toasted carb goodness, roasted portobello mushrooms mixed with sun dried tomatos, goat cheese, arugula and some secret sauce acting as the glue to keep everything together... or was that the melted cheese? Each bite was a perfect crunch and munch, with all the flavours melding to be complex yet enjoyable, and for a meat eater like me... no thoughts of wanting any meat.. this will do especially how the portobello was cut! This was a satisfying sandwich, washed down with some pretty good coffee. I did, at the same time of my order, order a loaf of their sourdough bread to take home, my main purpose but I'm glad I ate here, and had something they had to make, instead of their already prepared pastries. It can be some loops to find parking around here, as there are many free spots on the street, good luck finding one..... but once you do.. this is almost a one stop shop... even sitting down you can have a glass of wine.. as they serve some local good ones, like Tinhorn Creek and Blasted Church, they even have Steamworks beer here, so if juice or coffee is not your thing... well they have the percentage here also! Come here to satisfy your home carb craving, or come in here to eat... don't worry.. you'll get something good out of it! Awesome location...taken a while for people to find out about it but now it seems it's always packed. Not sure what type of advertising they did for their grand opening but it started out quite quiet. Great lunch spot for a quick sandwich in the summer. The specialty sandwiches are continuously updated but I've had the pulled pork, roast lamb and grilled salmon on different types of artisan breads and they were all delicious. My favourite is the blueberry white chocolate bread but the past 3 times I've been there they've been sold out of it which was quite disappointing. I've had to opt for the caramel apple and then a savoury red pepper, spinach bread the past couple times. Those are good too but I wish they could plan their production a bit better. If it's going to be a sunny weekend you're going to get a lot of people wandering around False Creek so expect more customers. Love having a glass of wine on the patio here when the sun's shining. Love this cafe/bakery spot in Olympic village. I almost always come here for a pre-climb/post-climb meal (from the Hive Bouldering Gym). My go to is the pesto chicken sandwich which is served on toasted sourdough bread and filled with sun dried tomatoes. The chicken itself is very moist and the entire sandwich is incredibly light while not sacrificing on flavour. I also enjoy their blueberry pastry which has white chocolate in it and it absolutely to die for. Finally their macaroons are really great! My favourite is the almond one which is very chewy in texture and has a very nice subtle almond flavour. Best of all, prices are reasonable ($9.50 for sandwich, $2 for macaroon, $4 for pastry), always fresh, and on a sunny day makes for a perfect afternoon meal! read more

Terra breads is locally owned and just a cute little bakery/ pastry place that mainly does breads but tries it's hands in gourmet sandwiches and drinks. I would highly recommend this place in Olympic village as a meet up or a lazy Sunday read area as it's busy and nice and overlooking the seawall area. I love the caramel apple foccacio and the blueberry bread. The pain Au chocolat is good and best when warmed up - warm and crispy. You should try one of their other breads and loaves. I wasn't a fan of the tarts which looked amazing but were a bit too sour or maybe the fruits were not ripe enough or over prepared? I'm not an expert at baking but they were a little too hard or crispy for me. I love the hot chocolate because the usually make it with dark chocolate and you can tell because the bubbly part at the top is darker. I usually forgo the whipped cream. However the last time I had it tasted just like Tim Hortons hot chocolate but it was about 4$ so I was a bit disappointed that day. Thurs from a four to a three star. Came here a couple of times with good experience. It's always busy here but the staff is efficient. Last time I came, they refused to serve me a triple espresso on ice because they have customers that pours milk into it and make it into a latte. I used to live in the neighbourhood of the original Terra up on 5th Ave. Since this one in the Village opened, I'm afraid I've never been back. Terra is just great. Friendly staff, kid-friendly, big windows looking out over the creek, it's a lovely place for a coffee. If you're looking for food too, then grab the turkey cranberry sandwich, and soup of the day - it doesn't matter what day it is. After the sun sets, it's also a pretty nice place for a little margarita pizza and a glass of wine. What more could you ask for? Oh and the expensive granola? It's worth it. It's addictive. I work in the neighbourhood and used to go here twice (or more) a week for around two years. I recently had to spend a few months in Montreal, and well - I'm kind of disappointed with the changes. 1) removed my two favourite sandwiches (smoked turkey, ham and gruyere) 2) got rid of side salads 3) got rid of spinach salad 4) salmon sandwich is topped with pesto now??? I get that food economies change and they probably wanted/needed to change things up. It's just bizarre that the 4 things I liked the most about this place are gone. And sure the pizzas are decent, some of the pastries are nice, and a few other sandwiches can be good - but the room is chaotic, and if it's full and you're getting something to go, there isn't a lot of room to wait for food. read more

Walking into this place with my friend was such a good idea. As soon as I went in, the smell of freshly baked goods hit me and I told my friend we had to come back just for the fact of smelling everything. We ordered our food and sat down--it was a nice place, and the way that the cafe was set up, I had a clear view of all the breads and goods they'd baked and believe me, it was becoming a struggle to not buy everything. My friend and I both got the grilled cheese and I ordered the soup of the day, she got the hot chocolate. A place that has yet to serve me bad food or drinks or even provide me with bad service. I really like this place for the food, drinks and atmosphere. It could also be where they are located. It's a really nice neighborhood. I've had their lemonades, tea lattes, lattes, sandwiches and a few baked goods before. I have to say, not once was I disappointed. Hence I gave this place a 5 star. I've stood in line ups before but haven't had to wait more than 5 minutes to pay and roughly 5 to 10 minutes tops to get my food and drink. I don't always find a seat but that's ok because it's a nice neighborhood to walk around. Overall, it's worth the try but I can't speak for their other locations as I have yet to try. But I will be back at this once whenever I'm in the area. read more

I've been to Terra Breads a few times. I enjoy all of their breads and sandwiches. It can be a little pricey, but the quality of the ingredients and the bread... the glorious bread are worth the cost! Visited the Olympic Village Terra Breads on a Friday around lunch time and it was extremely busy but we managed to find a table. We both ordered the lemonade and margherita pizzas. The staff made us the wrong pizzas, but quickly gave us a refund and promptly brought us our correct pizzas as soon as they were done. Impressive! I usually get one of the sandwiches here, but my friend recommended I try the pizza! The margherita pizza tasted fresh and tomato-y. Lemonade (as always), was enjoyable too! When we finished our lunch around 1:30, quite a few tables were free. I recommend grabbing lunch and eating al fresco near False Creek instead of eating indoors during lunch. One of my favourite bakeries for bread in town. I am a big fan of the green olive and thyme loaf, the caraway rye and the heritage loaf if I'm craving something healthier. This location is one of my favourites, always a lively spot to grab a sandwich or coffee then head for a walk along the water. My personal fav is the turkey asagio sandwich which is done with avocado on a black olive sourdough. The only downside is that this location is so busy that the tables rarely get wiped down and the room can be quite noisy. Also the bathrooms could use some love. All to be expected since they're pumping out such volume, but still catches my eye. read more

We just wanted coffee but wasn't really sure where to line up. The space is also designed so that it's a bit cramped in certain areas. Tables and chairs are placed quite close to the pick up counter, the coffee milk/ sugar station is a bit squishy. Their pastry/ baked goods case looks like there's a lot of good treats-pumpkin tarts, scones, loaves.... Given that it's the only coffee shop in the village at the moment, I guess I will have to come here to grab a coffee before going for a walk around the area. read more

Very good waterfront bakery spot with good, fresh bread, decent coffees and beer and wine. There's usually a good range of sandwiches and these are excellent, align with the salads. The pizzas are made with the same dough as the bread and are pretty good if this is kept in mind. I would love to find a full European style bakery in Vancouver with a wide range of breads, snacks and sandwiches - this is not quite that place. The location is brilliant, next to the waterfront, seawall and plaza and so offers good views and little traffic noise. The main downsides are that it gets very crowded at peak times (weekends) and is rather noisy, something that is not mitigated by the shortage of noise absorbing interior finishes. read more

Went for dinner since it's the only Terra Breads cafe that boasts a dinner menu. However, was hugely disappointed. Have been dying for a decent place to eat in this part of town. There's very limited choice on any decent, child friendly cafes in this particular area that's walking distance from Main St Sky train. I really don't get why there's not more restaurants here. The foot traffic in the area is very high around the sea wall and the view of downtown and the mountains is spectacular without being blocked by the ugly high rises. The breads look great and taste great but very much disappointed by the pricing and portion sizes. I know Vancouver is overpriced but this is ridiculous. Ordered a Margerita pizza that's nearly $10 which basically is the size of a small dessert place. Are you kidding me? For dinner? We ordered a salmon panini for about $9. Nice but again, not spectacular for the price. Had high expectations which were dashed. The rest of the "dinner menu" is equally disappointing. Not really much to go on and definitely not a place for an evening out but really a snack or quick meal. We were really looking forward to it and now that we know, won't go there for more than a few breads or snack. Even then, really, $4+ for a piece of foccacia bread? Makes me pine for great REAL European bakeries. Maybe those who actually bought an apartment in Olympic Village will pay these prices but I don't know about the others living around the area (and there are a LOT of us). Maybe we'll invest in a breadmaker. I think bread shouldn't be a treat like dessert and would love to find a local bakery (yes in this area) that I could walk to on a regular basis and pick up a loaf. It's a gorgeous location, a bit loud, there's outdoor seating so would have been nice if they actually opened in the summer as originally promised. However, they have heat lamps over the patio. They do have high chairs for kids and lots of snack opportunities. They also have a beer/wine license. Just wish they had more of a menu. Agree with some of the others, the layout seems disorganized. There's a lot of space but in some places, like the condiments and sides, the tables are more squished together than need be. All in all, probably will go back for a bread now and then but doubtful would invite anyone to meet here for anything other than coffee and a snack. This was only my second time here, but I had to write a review because their customer service was so on point. I had ordered a portobello mushroom and goat cheese salad and my friend had ordered a margherita pizza. The pizza arrived first, which made us wonder why my salad was taking so long. But we soon realized that they had made a mistake and thought that I had ordered a portobello mushroom pizza instead of the salad. When the server came over with the mushroom pizza, I told her that I had actually ordered the salad. She apologized immediately, asked me for my order number and said she would be right back. The way she went about correcting their mistake is what blew me out of the water. When the server returned, she had brought over a brownie and said it was on the house. And since the salad was a few dollars less than the pizza, she also gave me the exact difference back in change. She apologized again and left me sitting there in awe. Honestly, she could have just thrown the brownie at me and I would have devoured that thing with a grin on my face. What change? Who the F cares! This is an amazing little bakery and coffee shop. They have a patio overlooking the village plaza that has heaters for the winter, so it's a great place to come to sit outside and catch up with friends. All food is prepared in-house. Their baked goods are incredible; I've had scones, cakes, and muffins, plus the sandwiches and mini pizzas. All are delicious, fresh, and made from big chunks of vegetables, meats, fruits, chocolates, etc. The prices are very reasonable; all baked goods range from $1.50 to $3.95. They do a morning breakfast panini for $4.50 and it's delicious. They are licensed, too, so if you fancy a local beer or wine with your sandwich, you can buy in house. Overall, wonderful.
