We love Fogo de Chao in Las Vegas and Churrascaria Plata Forma in Manhattan, and we make sure we go often. So, it was a great surprise when we realized that Terra Gaucha had opened in Stamford. We arrived at dinner time without reservations on a week night. We were seated quickly, and got up to go to the Salad Bar, which had lots of goodies, but some of those offered at the other two Churrascarias listed above were missing. It took a few minutes for our drinks to arrive, and our waitress was often no where to be found. The meat servers were, however, VERY attentive and quick. I'd give this place a 6 star review if I could. We were going to get mall food and the smell caught our attention. We were undressed considering it looks upscale and amazing inside. Everyone there was super nice and attentive to us. It is one of those places where they walk around with the entrees and have you sample it. They also have a huge selection on their salad bar. Our server Michelle was so nice and explained everything and checked on us the whole time. The one tall guy serving us, Allison, so sorry if I got your name wrong, was hilarious and make sure we were good with our allergies. Finally have opportunity to check out this Brazilian steakhouse. It was pretty good ambience was very nice. Our waitress was very accommodating. She helped us out even though it was a Thursday night. It wasn't as busy but very attentive and attentive to our needs. Food was very good. Steak was amazing the different types that they had a side salad bar had a lot of options which is very good. Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse I had a great experience here. This is attached to the Stamford Town center Mall. There is a parking lot connected to the mall. We had a reservation for 630pm. We were seating quickly towards the back and a window / door. Our waitress, whose name I did forgot. (I have a bad memory) She was very good, super helpful and friendly and took her time with us since this was our first time there. We put our drink order in and went with the Full Rodizio experience which was currently $58.95. (it offers skewered meats carved table side plus access to their gourmet salad and hot bar) After we put the drinks in, we went to the gourmet salad and hot bar. It honestly impressed me and was amazing. They had so many options like a variety deli meats, slices of maple crispy bacon, toasted bread, fruits, potato salad, white rice, beef stroganoff, caprese salads, wedge salads, even a cheese wheel, etc. It was all amazing.We came back to the table. The drinks came, we had Sprite which came in a glass bottle which is great, sparkling water (san pellegrino), Honey Jack Tea and caipirinha. The alcoholic drinks were good, just need to be a bit stronger. The sides came, which were Pão de Quejo (warm parmesan cheese puff) and pure de batata (mashed potatoes) and caramelized bananas. Once we finish the salads, we flipped the cards over which signals the meat to keep coming. The selection of meats was amazing, from lamb to pork, from beef to chicken. They even have seafood options. (which I can't have because I'm allergic). There was so many options it was honestly overwhelming at times, and even with the cards down (red) they still were asking if we wanted to try more meat options. But every one was so friendly and nice we smiled and tried more. Meaning we got super full lol. But it really delicious and perfectly cooked. Don't forget to put in temperature preference. They also had a few people walking around offering different high-end drinks options, that night they had Clase Azul Tequila Gold. It was $40 a shot / glass. We finished paid and were getting ready to leave and we noticed that a couple got fries. Which was one of the things that we wished they mentioned was they had options to get fries even though it's not on the menu. But other than that the experience was great. I would recommend coming here. Make sure you booking a reservation since it does get busy. As soon as we left Terra Gaucha the first time we started plotting excuses to go again. We have been to other Brazilian steakhouses and they stand out for the large spotless venue, attentive service, and the speed with which different meats make the rounds. They also have a drink cart that adds a unique touch. It's perfect for special occasions with big groups. Kids: The salad bar is enormous and delicious, great for the kids since they can eat as soon as we arrive. The excitement and noise at the restaurant engaged the kids and their moving around/noise didn't bother other tables. Best of all, kids are free. They deliver several sides to the table too-pao de queijo, plantains, mashed potatoes. Of course the star of the show are the bottomless meats. As soon as you flip your circle green there is a flood of amazing meats delivered to your seat. Our favorite was the picana. A bunch of different options and ways to be cooked. Not too seasoned so you really taste the meat. At first they really bombard you with everything but eventually they'll slow down. So I recommend taking it slow and you will have to turn them away because they do not pay attention to the red/green cards. The gauchos (dudes with the skewered meat) were always around so there was a hardly a long wait. Everything was delicious! What was more impressive is that I noticed that everyone worked as a team! From the wait-servers to the manager? No they didn't annoy you between bites but I felt they truly were making sure that you received what ever you needed with just a look, but ready to answer questions. The restaurant is literally outside of the mall and in a courtyard with other fabulous restaurants. The service was impeccable. We were served side dishes hot, fresh and flavorful such as cheese bread, polenta fries and mashed potatoes with cheddar cheese. The buffet is a terrific inclusion with all types of salads, fruits, cheeses, breads and sides. Some hot chaffing dishes too. The gauchos kept coming with all the most tastiest meats, chicken and fish.. they even came with salmon on a plank, beef ribs, fried cheese with honey and brown sugar cinnamon hot pineapple to name some of the innovative options. The meats were beyond perfection in flavor and presentation. They will give you any meat or food item cooked to your specifications if you did care for it they temperature or seasoning it came out. Reservation for 8:30 for 12 people. They wouldn't seat us until the entire party was there. That's not good with our group of friends. 15 minutes later we were all there and they didn't have a table for us. We were seated in another 10 minutes or so. They start you out with the salad bar, which wasn't great. That's not what we were there for though! They came quickly with all different cuts of beef. The filet was delicious. I love lamb, but they over marinated it and took the natural flavor out of it. Many of the beef choices were also over salted. I don't put salt on my meat though, so maybe it was just me. Our waiter was great, but the drinks took forever. They have a tiny little bar with two bartenders that couldn't keep up with the amount of people in the restaurant. My boyfriend and I went to Terra Gaucha for the first time in Stamford, and it was an exceptional experience! The hostesses immediately greeted us when we arrived in Portuguese, located our reservation, and sat us. The restaurant looked very nice and clean, yet inviting. She recommended caipirinha and her favorite Malbec, and we were pleasantly surprised with. Vanessa gave us clear instructions on what to do: (1) salad bar is buffet style (2) turn the medallion green when ready for the meats! We walked over to the salad bar, which was filled with my favorite goodies! I tried some cheeses, pineapple, lox, salads, mango shrimp, etc.! Although almost impossible, I tried not to fill myself with the salad bar. Once we turned our medallion green, the staff came with their meat and knife in hand. They explained the type of meat, which ranged from flank steak, bacon wrapped chicken, lamp chops, grilled shrimp, and so much more. There was so much variety it was almost overwhelming, but it was great because you get to try a little bit of everything. I didn't want this to end, but I didn't have any more room, or so I thought! We couldn't decide on a dessert, so we got two! Flan and a passionfruit mousse. The passionfruit mousse was such a perfect palette cleanser with a beautiful edible flower! We managed to get in on the opening day, which always comes with its pros and cons. We skipped the drinks, despite a very extensive selection, and got a bottle of wine. Wine list has a lot of good options from around the world, with starting price of around $30, so it was easy to find a good bottle. I liked the buffet - there was a good selection of salads, smoked salmon, shrimp, cold cuts, peppers, pickles and lots more. The meat service was good, with my only gripe being somewhat of a bland flavor across all the different cuts of beef, lamb, pork, and chicken. My favorites were the sirloin, beef rib, and roasted salmon. You can request a sauce to be brought to the table - I got chimichurri sauce and it was very tasty. Good selection of desserts. Crème brûlée was tasty. Cream of papaya was very refreshing, however had no papaya flavor whatsoever. Very good service - super attentive, many people asking if we want something specific to be brought to the table. I would even dare to say that the service was a bit overwhelming at times - but we have to discount it with the first opening day. All in all, we had a good time. We have a 7 month old baby and haven't been out for 2 months so this was a great choice for a date night. Everything was supper yummy and the steaks were just perfect. They asked us if we wanted new plates so we were like, sure. But we wanted to go back up for a little more salad so we took our plates with us, and they had completely cleared our table while we were gone. Haha they were super apologetic and they set it back up for us. I liked that you get complimentary plantains, cheesy bread, and mashed potatoes. They bring it to the table once you sit so it's hot. We spoke with the cart guy about the alcohol and had a good convo with him. We got dessert and I think because of the mess up they gave us a 25$ gift card for our next visit.
