I really wanted to give this place five stars but after ordering and eating the famous kale salad with chicken I was very disappointed. The kale was warm and there were no anchovies! That was the part I was looking forward to more than anything. I got off my shift at the hospital, got it to go and didn't look at the salad until I got home. Also not near enough dressing. I had them put it on the side and they only gave me one little container of Caesar dressing. Too dry!! I ended up throwing half of the salad away. $22 for a salad that was very disappointing. read more

I recently went to Terra with a colleague. We were hungry so we shared the beet hummus appetizer, which was.... beet-y (in a good way.) I had the Gazelle salad veganized. Thankfully my server let me know that the cumin vinaigrette was full-bodied cumin so I opted for a different non-dairy dressing (with less cumin, yech, too much cumin tastes like dirt to me.) My husband and I came here quite a bit prior to the pandemic and food was typically enjoyable on a consistent basis. Today we went for brunch, and we both left less than impressed. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs on top and I decided on the breakfast sandwich with bacon added. Both of our dishes sat on the counter for 15+ minutes, waiting for the potatoes to be added to my plate. My husband said his was completely cold and my sandwich/dish was near inedible - dry roll, overcooked bacon, burnt potatoes, and somehow the sandwich had nearly zero flavor...super disappointing, and I'm doubtful we'll be back. read more

Our group did the Sunday brunch menu. Get a reservation if you think you want to try it. For those, like us, without, there are two twin seat benches. They are in the small entry so we were eye to butt with the new arrivals. It was more out of the way than trying to stand. If the weather is ok, you could wait outside the door as there is cell paging.also there is a small bar one could wait at , however it was full at the time. The wait time claimed was correct at 20 minutes. Not bad. I liked that a water bottle - chilled- was left on the table for refills. Others have already detailed the farm to table aspect so I will skip to the presentation. My wife loved the vegetarian omelette. Flavor. Lack of a cheese mountain. Yummy. My daughter enjoyed the pork belly hash. She claimed it as a frequent fave. I like it a bit spicier, thus the breakfast burrito! The internals were layered perfectly. Rice, black beans and melt in your mouth scrambled eggs. Over top the sauce and cheese flakes. If you try this pony up the extra few bucks for the house chorizo which adds heat. For me the highlight of the burrito. Without the chorizo the dish would be bland as the sauce itself differed little from plain canned tomato sauce. This place has very nice food and is great for people watching. As with high ceiling conversions there is little acoustic dampening and it probably would be noisy half full. Brunch at Terra rocks!!! I met a couple of friends here for Saturday brunch the weekend after Christmas. Being one of seemingly few places in GR that accepts reservations for breakfast/brunch, this was my preference as opposed to waiting in line somewhere else. Nevermind that I suspected the meal here would be outstanding. My friends and I were not disappointed. I ordered the pork belly hash, and it was breakfast heaven on a plate! One friend had the omelet of the day, while the other chose the breakfast pizza. Both friends raved about their dishes. First time there. Great service, healthy food options, full bar and cool space impressed both my dining partner and me. We started with the beet and goat cheese hummus with veggie sticks and flat bread crackers. That was over the top fantastic! My friend had the roasted chicken on mixed greens with very interesting additions. I can't recall, but think there were cherries in the salad. One of my favorite places to eat in GR. Excellent menu with rotating specials, quick and friendly service, neat atmosphere, reasonable prices. Hit this place up during their happy hour--$2.50 off craft beer, cocktails, and wine by the glass. All their wood-fired pizzas are $10, and salads are half off. A great place for adventurous people to try new flavor combinations, and plenty of classic dishes for pickier palates. My absolute favorite is their Gazelle Salad. The. Best. Ever. Very pleased with our experience at Terra GR. My girlfriend and I ate here for our anniversary dinner, food was all very tasty and we had no complaints. We had the mushroom spaghetti, and the apple cider braised chicken. We also had the pub cheese and spicy muscle apps. Highly recommend the spicy muscle appetizer if you enjoy seafood. The wait staff was very personable, even all signed a personalized anniversary card for us. We will revisit. read more

While I've yet to try their (apparently) wonderful brunches, my review is on their lunch menu. My friend, who is already a huge fan of Terra, brought me here with such enthusiasm that I couldn't help but be excited for the food here. The environment is very well-done. It's warm, it's modern, it's a bit rustic. Anyways, we started off with the Red Beet & White Bean Hummus, which was an interesting twist on the Mediterranean dish. The red beet gave it a bright pink shade and gave a somewhat crisp taste that contrasted with the creaminess of the bean. The hummus came with raw vegetables and crostinis too. For the entree, I had the Proscuitto & Arugula pizza which was rather large for one person. Either ways, it was fresh baked and absolutely delicious. Some reviews complained about the $15 for a personal pizza but considering the size, the local arugula, and house-pulled mozzarella, it was well worth it to me. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. The environment and the food were both excellent. My only complaint was the service. While Shay (?) was kind, the service was rather slow and it took an awfully long time to place our orders. read more

My mom, my sister and I stopped in here one afternoon a few weeks ago. I actually saw it highlighted on "withthelocals" Instagram feed and it happened to be close to the appointment we had been to so we figured we'd check it out. The ambiance was great, it was really quite quiet at lunch time on a week day. I ordered the mushroom pizza and dang, so much flavor packed into that thing! It was delicious. It was also way more than enough for one person. We probably could have all split it and been okay. My mom and sister were also both pleased with their meal choices. My current favorite restaurant in Grand Rapids. Absolutely everything I have ordered here has been amazing; the drinks are nice and strong, and the service has been wonderful. There's no one dish I recommend because I'm big on trying new things each time and have yet to be disappointed on anything. Is also a favorite of my friend who is vegetarian, so there are options here! One thing to note that it is quite LOUD indoors, so if you don't want to have to strain to hear ur dining partner or have to yell to be heard, I recommend the beautiful outside seating. Can get a little pricey with the drinks but very very well worth it. read more

This was by far one of the best restaurants I have been to. We had the duck, speciality pizza of the night, clam and crab soup and the speciality desert. It was all perfect and we couldn't have been happier. The server helped us pick and he gave us excellent service. The sign in front says Handcrafted, Seasonal, and Locally Sourced Cuisine. As soon as I heard that this restaurant served farm to table food and was known for their interesting selection of cocktails I knew I had found my perfect dinner spot for a Monday evening in Grand Rapids. After getting some cocktail suggestions from my server, I decided to try the Beet Martini which was made with Jalapeño Tequila. I'm a beet fan but it had more of an interesting sweet sour flare without the earthy beet flair. It was a delicious and tangy start to my meal. After pursuing many entrees, I abandoned my Keto day diet. I couldn't resist house-made pesto buccatini which included house made fennel sausage. Served with a baguette fresh and warm from the oven including a pesto and garlic butter accompaniment. My first bite made me sing the tune 'heaven, I'm in heaven". The pasta was fresh and hot with delicious flavor and texture. I couldn't resist trying a second cocktail in the name of research of course! Brown Butter Tea-Brown butter infused bourbon, Michigan maple syrup, ginger beer and lemon. Yes, it really was as good as it sounds. Ever part of my dinner was delicious and I would be thrilled to return here for more menu adventures. read more

The only complaint I have is I am so confused why they have these amazing salads but they don't (slightly) chop them?! If you're presenting a kale salad, at least chop up the kale! Salads shouldn't have trees in them, especially kale which is a very course green. Other than that, the ambiance is great, service is pretty standard and the environment is clean. read more

Went to have brunch with my sister while visiting her. Food was really good but upon paying the bill we overheard our server, Connor, say "they're probably only gonna leave me $5" I know stereotyping in the service industry sometimes can be unintentional, as I have worked in the service industry for over a decade. Being a person of color I do my best to stay aware of not doing so. But being the only POC patrons in the restaurant I can only assume that this might've been the experience of this server before. I'm so disappointed, especially in today's social climate. This is not ok. We made reservations here for Mother's Day. We had 6 adults, 2 toddlers and and infant. They were very accommodating. I loved how not only were there crayons and menus, but even the silverware was toddler friendly. The cups were spill proof. It was an awesome place to bring a family. And the food was phenomenal. The food was great and the service we received from Royce and all the other employees was so refreshing! They all seemed to care about the customers, the food, and the whole foundation of Terra. The drinks were impressively delicious and I can't wait to try more! We had the Brown Butter Tea, the Dark and Stormy, the Barrel Bourbon, and the Shorts Locals Light. All were great and I love that the ginger flavor is prominent in their ginger beer. On our way out, I had to stop and ask a lady how her Beet Margarita was because it was on my oooh list and she said it was delightful and it will be the next drink I order on my next visit. We ordered the Buffalo Cauliflower appetizer and we both really enjoyed it. It could have had more heat, but it was a good heat level for the general public. The blue cheese vinaigrette that came with the dish paired really well, although it could have been a little thicker and less watery, but it was a quality vinaigrette to be fair. My husband had the featured burger, which had beets on it and he loved it (even though he isn't a lover of beets). We recommend the creamy pesto pasta salad that comes on the side with the burgers. We originally asked for chips, but they gave us the creamy pesto pasta salad and it was really great. They make their own pasta and you can tell! Oh so good! I had the Braised Beef Shoulder and the meet was a bit tough and chewy, but the flavors definitely made up for it. The golden and red beets were a great accompaniment. Although we were stuffed, we couldn't turn down dessert. Royce, our server, recommended the Tiramisu and he did not disappoint! Everything he recommended was spot on! He definitely took care of us and the entire staff was pleasant, friendly, and professional. Looking around the place, I love that it brings in a diverse mix of patrons. People watching is fun and if you don't make a reservation, you will have time to do a bit of people watching. I recommend making reservations! It seems like it is always busy with waves of people coming and going constantly. A great sign! Excited to visit Royce again and their Happy Hour deals definitely enticed us to want to make this our neighborhood happy hour place to go! Went to Terra on a Friday night, was able to get a reservation for 3 with only an hour's notice. We were sat at a booth near the open kitchen -- I love open kitchens because you know that it's clean if they're showing it off. I had an iced tea. It was good, but nothing amazing. For my entree I had the canestri pasta. it was amazing. it already had pancetta in it, but I added pork belly, too. it added a good, smokey flavor to the dish. Had the turtle pie for dessert. SO FLUFFY. great, fast service and good food to boot. read more

One of my GR favorites! The happy hour is great with salad, pizza and drink specials daily 3-6 pm. I especially love the Kale Caesar salad and the Apple Cheddar salad. If you're in the mood for pizza the wood fired pizzas are fresh and flavorful- haven't found one I don't enjoy but especially love the fennel sausage pizza. The handcrafted cocktails are unique and fun and the atmosphere is clean and relaxed with an industrial touch. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. I ordered the pulled pork with pork belly, cucumber and other condiments ( I forget the sandwich name, Something like The Houla Mi?) Unfortunately the sandwich was very small and incredibly bland like there was no seasoning in the meat or the sauce. It felt like I was biting into warm nothing. My wife had a bite and agreed with me, and I only had a few bites. All the sandwiches are supposed to come with chips and pickled veggies, part the reason I ordered a sandwich over an entree. Mine was served plain, even though them menu had no caveats or fine print declaring so. My server was able to bring me chips, but these were also unseasoned. Again I only had a few bites, not wanting to waste the calories. My children both had pepperoni pizza and that to lacked flavor. The sauce was watery and bland, the cheese was bland, the crust was bland. The only thing on the pizza with any taste was the pepperoni. To be fair my wife enjoyed her mushroom pizza and the cocktails were tasty. Our server was very polite and took my sandwich off the bill. I'm not sure if this was a new cook staff or if their food is always this way, but I won't be returning. read more

We always get the breakfast pizza and carafe of orange juice w bottle of champagne for table mimosas. You won't be disappointed!! Service is always fun and I've never waited longer than 5min for a table. Dinner service is also a fantastic experience. Something for everyone and quality local ingredients are important elements to their menu. I've never once had a single issue with service or execution on my order. My children have a host of food allergies, and we were happy to know that there were GF pasta and pizza options at this restaurant. We didn't know that this was a heavily-vegan restaurant and my wife wasn't real happy with her meal, but in general the food was good and the waitstaff was very friendly and helpful.
