Terra is located at the end of a long uphill road and is worth the drive. Head on up knowing that you will have some good wine and views and you will be hosted by exceptional people. I'm so glad I went, despite the warnings on various sites about the bad road. I made it fine in my Impreza, and only had to pull over once, next to a scary drop-off, to let another car pass. Grades on this gravel road up to 25 percent. Off the beaten path is an understatement. The wine was spectacular, the setting - alone on the mountaintop entirely surrounded by National Forest, and the staff were informative and friendly. (Tip: the husband is more detailed with the wine descriptions, while the wife serves bigger pours - at least in my case.) Given the difficulty of reaching this place I was surprised to find it fairly busy on this Saturday evening, with several groups sitting at comfortable tables and couches. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a flight of 5 wines. All great so I had to buy some to take home too. It was hard to stop at two bottles. In an addition to the amazing ambience, windows all around with views of the National Forest and orchards in every direction, there was also music that night: a man singing and playing his guitar. He was pretty good. I learned he makes the rounds playing at several wineries around here. This is a family-run business. In addition to the husband and wife I met there is also a brother or two and I think a son or daughter. They also run an event venue, visible from the winery over on the next hill. This might be one of our favorite vineyards in North Georgia. It is very small and in a remote area but it is perched on a mountain ridge with a beautiful view. The wine is excellent and the tasting room is very nice with a wood burning stove for cold months. The owners are such nice folks and do a great job explaining the features of the various wines they produce. We will make this place a routine. read more

I was passing through North Georgia and have always wanted to visit Terra Incognita Vineyard after seeing so many stunning photos on social media. Even though they were closed the day I drove by, I couldn't resist heading up just to take a peek. The 1.5 miles from the paved road is a slow, winding dirt and gravel road with heavy gravel, bumpy pockets, and some steep sections. I drive a VW Jetta (a regular four-door sedan), and it was no easy feat--definitely took a beating. It took me about 20-25 minutes to reach the top at a careful pace. I've seen reviews saying it's manageable in a car, but I'd strongly caution anyone with a low-clearance or smaller vehicle: this road is rougher than it sounds. Once I made it to the gate, I parked and walked around. Wow--what a breathtaking, almost magical spot! The panoramic mountain views are incredible, and the whole setting feels like a hidden gem high up on the ridge. I'd love to come back when they're open for a proper tasting and to enjoy the views with a glass of wine. Next time, though, I'll be sure to bring a vehicle with better ground clearance--something like a small SUV, truck, or 4WD. Totally worth the adventure, but be prepared for the terrain! read more

We had an excellent experience here last night. It started severely storming on our way up the very remote mountain road to the tasting room and we weren't sure how we were getting back down. The owner offered to drive us down or allow us to follow him in his truck, since we were there at closing, since my driver was freaking out a little bit. He helped calm her down and it felt like he actually cared about his customers. Because of the rain we didn't get the crazy long-distance sunset views I wanted but it was something to see the wind and rain moving through the treetops. If you are feeling adventurous one day, it is worthwhile to brave the storm and check out the alternative view. Also, the wine was actually good. I sampled everything from a beautiful cab sauv to a dry blueberry wine that was fantastic to a dessert port that was a little sweet for my taste. Now I need to figure out how to order it to my house and we'll be all set lol read more

They offer pre-packaged charcuterie which was a very nice and welcome addition to the delicious wine available for tasting or by the glass. My favorite wine was the Great North followed by the rose. This beautiful venue is a family owned establishment and we had the pleasure of meeting and being served by the entire family. I cannot emphasize enough how beautiful this vineyard is. If you are looking for an event space or just a lovely way to spend the day this is it. We did a mushroom hike/class here as well as spending the day on site. read more

We stumbled on this place after a hike at Minnehaha Falls. Best decision ever! Chris was super nice and helpful and the wines were amazing. Definitely options for any pallet. We had the flatbread pizza and it was very fresh and packed with flavor. Not pre- made. You can actually choose your sauce. I highly recommend this place - they views are worth it alone but paired with good wine, food and live music is the cherry on top. There is quite a drive up the hill and the road is not paved most of the way but again totally worth it! read more

Love this vineyard! Everything was 10/10! Viewed it for a wedding venue, and also did a wine tasting. Highly recommend both! It's family owned and operated, everyone was so warm and welcoming! The views from the event pavilion and the tasting room were breathtaking. The interior of the tasting room is gorgeous! I prefer my wine on the drier side, so I absolutely loved the cardinal direction and the true north. I also recommend the compass rose for those who like something not too sweet, or too dry. We took the dogs for a day trip touring some of the pet friendly wineries in North Georgia and this was our last stop. Do not let the long winding dirt road deter you from visiting. This winery has one of the best views you will get to see. Very comfortable atmosphere and everyone was super nice and helpful in choosing the best wine flights. They have a great selection of reds and white along with a few sweet wines. One of the more economical flights in the area. Will definitely be back to visit soon. read more

It was a pleasant drive to the vineyard, and just a pleasure spending time enjoying the wine tastings and even meeting some lovely people who were also enjoying there time on top of the mountain.The service at Terra Incognita Vineyard went beyond our expectations. The views are spectacular and the scenery from all areas both Inside and outside took your breath away. Charming and rustic with a beautiful handmade bar top, it was a wonderful experience. The wines were better than I could hope for. I enjoy visiting wineries but am usually disappointed with the selections of local wines due to my taste leaning towards a drier wine. Here, I liked everything I tasted and had a hard time even making up my mind on which bottle of wine to take home. My surprise was in deciding on the blueberry wine. What a stunning location and beautiful building! This vineyard is truly off the beaten path, but the view from the wine tasting room, overlooking the vineyards, is absolutely breathtaking. We sampled six wines during our visit. While none of them stood out as extraordinary, the Cardinal Direction would be a solid choice for a versatile table red that pairs well with various meals. The tasting experience was quite relaxed, and on the plus side, the fact that the tasting room is dog-friendly was a major highlight, especially since I always travel with my pup. I really only have a couple of critiques to make the tasting better: 1) we didn't receive much information about the wines or the grapes they raise from the female bartender; however our last wines were poured by the male bartender and he was very good at giving tasting notes and engaging; 2) the glasses were not rinsed between pours. 10/10 would recommend. My wife and I stayed at an AirBnB nearby and were told about this little gem by our host - and we are so glad we took the time to check it out! The gravel drive leading up to the vineyard whet my appetite for adventure, and the reward of magnificent mountain views really sealed the deal! Let me tell you, the folks who run this place have got it figured out. What better way to sit and enjoy a nice wine tasting than by having super knowledgeable wine aficionados at your beckoning whim, offering seating with the best views in the region, and with a super friendly dog to hang out with, too? This was the kind of place that made me ponder about the bigger things in life, and how thankful I am to be alive. Does that sound weird? I'm drunk on happiness thinking back on our time there. We were more than pleased with the variety of wines offered (no one wine was like the others), and when we learned we could have camped there, a part of me wished we had stayed at the vineyard instead of booking our AirBnB! There was a wedding taking place that night, and with us arriving at the vineyard later in the evening, we didn't have the chance to check out more of the place than their little tasting hilltop with the scenic panorama, but we were so enamored with the breathtaking views, the tasty wines, and the friendly owners that we were all smiles before, during, and after.
