I had to give my son a ride to pick up his truck a few months ago and, at the time, I needed my rotors replaced. Elie had my car ready in about 2 hours and he charged me a very reasonable rate for the work. Fast forward to today. My other son had a leak that he had taken his car to the dealership for and was told he needed his radiator and water pump replaced. When they tried to stick my son with all the labor costs (despite having an extended warranty that covered both parts and labor), we brought the car to Elie. Eli and team are great. My 2015 Nissan Sentra was making a noise (iconic) brought it to MBC for help. Both Eli and his mechanic came outside with me to observe and diagnose the issue. I needed new motor mount(s), and my car has three. Eli suggested replacing one at a time to see if we needed to replace all three to fix the problem as I couldn't save money on labor costs by replacing them all at once due to the position of the mounts, and each motor mount was going to cost $300-$400 (parts+labor). Thankfully, replacing one motor mount fixed the issue! Eli also noticed that my car was making noises going over bumps and informed me that I need new strut assemblies. I now have time to save for that fix and can watch for wear on my tires. Eli is direct, won't mince words or waste your time, and goes above and beyond to help you make informed decisions. read more

Been here once before for an inspection, this time went in for an oil change. The man in charge was rude both times. This time they somehow disabled the alarm system, so I went back a few minutes later. Man said I had to come back later. Inconvenient, but okay. Came back 45 minutes later and the man accused me of disabling it to get my money back. Now I'm offended at the accusation and start to argue and he starts screaming in my face. Won't even try to assess or fix what they clearly broke-- just kept accusing me of being a scam artist somehow. When I protested, he called me a "m*therf*cker" and a "white POS" to my face. Started at rude and escalated to insulting in the extreme, not to mention racist. Never had an experience like this before in my entire life, and I will never go near this hellhole again, no matter how close it is to my house. And my alarm is still disabled! read more

I've been taking my car here ever since I moved into the neighbourhood (2011), and I think they're great. I saw that another reviewer said that there was a "gender bias" and that she feels that she was overcharged because of that. I'm a woman, and I have never found this to be the case. The only thing I know about cars is that they have four wheels and get me from A to B, and I'm always paranoid that mechanics will overcharge me; I've run this place's quotes by my male friends who know about cars (sorry, I'm a bad feminist!) and they said they were fair. Also, for the people who have complained that the owner is "rude". Oh, please, get over yourselves - it's just cultural differences. Yes, the owner is a little gruff and doesn't seem like the type to suffer fools gladly, but, like me, he's not American, and some of us foreigners weren't brought up believing that good customer service involves exaggerated friendliness and fake smiles. How lucky are we to have such a wonderful neighborhood mechanic ??? I have lived in the the neighborhood for about 18 years and I only started using MBC station about 8 years ago. With 2 teenaged drivers I feel like there is always something wrong with one of our cars not to mention just normal maintenance . Eli at MBC has alway been wonderful to me and my daughters . Not only does he do his best to get your car fixed up so you can be on your way quickly but he prices things fairly and doesn't encourage work that isn't necessary. He has come to my home to put air in my tires , driven me back to my house when he had a chance so I didn't have to sit there or walk home and come over to my home to help a friend that thought she could change her own flat but got in over her head! Our car is not brand new but it is only a few years old and in excellent condition, so I figured ok there may be a thing or two that needs to be replaced so I have come back to this place but this is it. They were given plenty chances to prove me wrong but failed to do so.Literally every time we come here for a state inspection there is an issue. He was very polite explaining to me why it couldn't be done that day and offered to call me back once the problem had been resolved and my car could be taken care of. I stopped in today because they have the lowest gas prices I've seen anywhere in town. The two men I spoke with were very friendly and helpful. I like their old school style - there's no pay at the pump, you have to go inside. I can see how this could be considered inconvenient, but I didn't mind. They told me that next time I can go ahead and pump my gas without having to come inside first, which I also appreciated. I'm so used to either paying at the pump or having to pay inside first - it's refreshing to feel trusted to not steal gas! Eli or Elli told me that they do a lot of extras for their regular customers - sending someone out if you get a flat tire, recharging dead batteries, etc. I love my current mechanic, but I'm definitely making this my regular gas station! read more

The station is close to the house so I figured I would come in and get my 2 year old car inspected. Usually takes 10-15 minutes tops. Took 45+ minutes after a previous customer's hoopty miraculously having another problem with it before he left. *Shocked* The owner freaks out. Forgets about my car. They finally get around to it. It passed of course. Then he tells me I cannot use my debit card unless I get $10 of gas. Whaaaat?! I said that's fine, but I'll never be back. The owner then proceeded to become more hostile with me and tell me he was not getting rich over this transaction. I've been using MBC Texaco for years, from my high school '79 Chevy to my college '89 Buick and now my current '00 Honda. They are kind, honest fellows who give you a great deal. I've never had any problems or arguments with them. They do state inspections quickly (unless they are swamped with other cars, then you might have to wait a little bit). Even though I no longer live in the neighborhood, I still prefer their auto shop to any other in town, and I strongly recommend this business to anyone who needs a tow/work on their car done. This is a great place to get an oil change and an inspection. We always try to go local when we can but after some bad experiences with some local car shops we got a little discouraged. We decided to try the guys at MBC who are always courteous when we buy gas. We are glad that we did because the service was speedy, as courteous as ever, and we didn't need a "transmission flush" or a new air filter (why do we ALWAYS need a new air filter at the other places?) I also can't help but notice how clean everything in this garage is. These guys really take pride in doing a great job. read more

I haven't had a good experience with this place. I originally went to the shop because my AC wasn't working. They told me I had too much coolant and vacuumed it out. Took 5 minutes and felt I was definitely over charged. A few days later I get an engine light saying I have no coolant; I go back and they added coolant for $15. I felt like I shouldn't have been charged since they were the ones that vacuumed too much out. They never programmed the car to take the engine light off. One month later I get an over heating problem with my engine and had to pull over into a shop. Turns out I had a leak that was never diagnosed by this shop and had leaked out all of the coolant. Now I know I'll be facing a hefty bill with this fix when it could of been addressed a long time ago. read more
