The worst car buying expirence of my life!! It took a full week to purchase my vehicle despite it being in stock at the dealership, having a credit score of 750 and any deposit amount nesessary! I was purchasing the car through my business. Which I have owned for 6 years! It is a corporation and most of the bills come in the corporations name. Everyday they needed one more piece of documentation! The man helping me was very condensingly telling me that I should have bills in my name, despite being incorporated and, "things weren't adding up" evidently he dosent realize that the whole point of having a corporation!!! I even said if its easier they can put it in my name personally instead of the business. At first they told me I was approved for a much higher interest rate than I was told on the website when purchasing. I asked them why I didn't get the interest I was told online, he responded with "idk we just got with the first offer from our credit partner" when I asked for the lower rate I was told I would receive online it started the whole application process over! Resulting in a few more days until I could pick up my car. I paid the 5000 extra for self driving and When I asked upon arrival how it worked they told me my cameras had to calibrate for several hundred miles. I drove my several hundred miles Just to find out one of my cameras never worked. I called the dealership and got a service appointment a few weeks out because that's when they said my part to be available. The day before my service appointment they emailed me around 1 PM. I work 12 to 8 most days. And do not check my email in the evening. My service appointment was for 8 AM. Due to my early am appointment I didn't check my email that morning either. Upon arrival I was told my appointment had been changed to 10 days out!!! At that point I will have on my vehicle for two months and still not been able to use this feature that I paid $5000 for. I absolutely love my Tesla but the dealship and their coustomer service sucks! This is the 5th car I've purchased new from a dealership. Other car buying expirences have been exciting, I have been treated very well, and felt like my business was appreciated. Sadly that is not the case with Tesla Carlsbad! read more

This was my first time taking my model x to the shop instead of mobile service and I was thoroughly impressed. Alejandro got me in right away even though I came late. Took only a few minutes to diagnose and take the car and then upload my uber credits. Everything was under warranty and so they replaced my front axels and tuned her up all literally in a day. I paid for the detail and now the tesla is driving and feeling brand new again. read more

I (mostly) really enjoy my Tesla Y that was delivered Dec. 30, 2022. This review mainly concerns the delivery, which was a disaster. When I did the predelivery paperwork, the first thing I learned was that the sensors were no longer being used on Teslas, it was now going to be Teslavision, only using cameras. As such, some of the functions, like how far you are from a wall, summon, auto park, and some other things, weren't currently going be working. However, they said they would in the future. So I'm supposed to pay a lot for a car that doesn't have the functionality that was promised, hoping that Tesla will fix it. Well, it still doesn't work. We completed our predelivery paperwork and arrived on time. We were told the car wasn't there yet as it was "offsite" and on it's way (we were told it was only a mile or so). Thirty minutes later it arrived. The car had a rushed cleanup job. There was fine dust, mostly in the door jambs and around the trunks that hadn't been cleaned. I was told this was because it was because it came from Texas and the cars are parked in dirt lots. I didn't really care about that, but I did tell them this was not a good representation of Tesla when someone buys a $70,000 car and they don't even clean it before delivery. They eventually took it back and cleaned it a little bit more but it still wasn't clean. With the rains that came the next day, there was dirt all over the place. All I could do was look at the outside of the car, they said I couldn't drive or open the doors until the contract was signed. I've never heard of that nonsense when buying a car. When I asked what would happen if there was an interior problem I couldn't see, their response was "Trust me, Tesla will take care of it". As far as the car registration goes, they don't allow your spouse to be listed on it as "OR". It has to be "AND". That's not a DMV thing, it apparently is a Tesla thing. Don't know if that's only if you use the Tesla financing or not. The sad thing is they don't tell you that until delivery. They also said their financing was a certain rate the day before, then it went up a point and a half the next day. I don't think that was because of the bank rate increase. I tried to quickly contact Chase to get a better rate but they said they don't have a "relationship" with Tesla. I was stuck. Since it took so long to get the car clean, they had my wife sign what she had to then let her leave. Later, they found out they forgot to have her sign something so we had to scramble to do a work-around so she didn't have to drive all the way back. The delivery took almost 3 hours! Delivery for my first Tesla took around 30 minutes. These people just weren't prepared. Tesla sent out a post-delivery questionnaire where I detailed all of my concerns, but, of course, I never heard back. Seems like they only like the positive reviews. The people working there were nice enough. But it sure seems like they expect us to just do as they say because Tesla is so cool. There is a lot more competition in the EV market now so they better change their attitude! read more

I took delivery here on 9/29. At the time, I purchased some rubber floor mats. I get home, browse the Tesla website and end up finding some carpet-type mats that I prefer more. So I e-mail Carlsbad to verify what their return process is. They say that due to COVID, they don't take returns. Uh, what? There's nothing about that on the website, nor were there any signs or mention of it when I purchased the rubber ones. So I e-mail a manager at Carlsbad and he reluctantly says that I can return them as long as they weren't installed. I go back on 10/3 to return them, and the advisor has no idea what I'm talking about. He can't find a manager, but I show him the e-mail string, so he takes the mats back from me. He promises that he'll finish the return the next day when he can find a manager. Haha, yeah right, I'm not falling for that. So I force the advisor to provide me a written receipt that shows he took custody of the mats. Fast forward to today, and I still haven't been refunded my money. So, one star. :) read more

This place is much nicer than the delivery center in San Diego (6495 Marindustry Place). I really wish this place was open when my Model 3 was delivered, especially because they have your car inside on display! While looking for the entrance to the service center, I drove past a girl taking delivery of a black Model 3. She looked so excited to be behind the wheel, and it reminded me of when I got my car after 3 years of waiting. I came in today because someone had hit/ scratched my Model 3 a few weeks ago while I was at the gym. I always park in the back so I don't need to park next to people, but I swear people go out of their way to park next to a Tesla. My coworker explained it to me once - he said he likes parking next to them because Tesla owners are careful with their cars so his car is safer. Anyways, the scratch was very noticeable and spanned across the tail light and panel below the tail light. In the service request I asked if they could buff the paint and I included a picture and I was very happy when the estimate came back at $97.50! My friends were surprised they would charge me and they told me most car dealerships will do it for free. I assumed the cost was to replace the taillight lens (which is a $20 part on the Civics and Chevys I owned. $97 seemed steep but I figured that's the price of a luxury car). I showed the technician the scratch on my car and to replace the rear bumper fascia would be cost $1300. I was so shocked, I could barely think. I told him that in the service request I asked if the scratch could be buffed out, and the estimate for the repair was $97. He informed me that Tesla does not offer paint services at this location. He recommended me to a couple authorized service centers that I could take it to. At least he was able to finally fix my window shield wiper, which has been a problem since I took delivery of my car a year and a half ago. While I have generally been happy with my Model 3, I am really surprised at the number of issues it has come with. I hope people see this list and it helps them catch issues before taking delivery of their car! 1. There was a scratch a half inch wide and a few inches wide on the bottom of the rear bumper. At the time, Tesla did not have a nice delivery center and I took delivery of my Model 3 in a parking lot just before sunset. 2. The weather sealing was incorrectly installed in a few locations. The first was the rear window on the passenger side of the car. It sounded like the window wasn't all the way rolled up. 3. The weather sealing in the trunk was also installed incorrectly. Imagine my surprise when it rained and I found my trunk filled with water. 4. The passenger side window shield wiper would jump violently across the window each time my window shield wipers started. It took several visits to the service center before I found a technician who could fix this (seriously, it's been a problem for the year and a half I've owned the car). 5. The was loose metal rattling underneath the passenger seat. The technician only told me that he removed it, so I hope it wasn't important. read more

So this week my bumper fell, After I inspected it closely there was a part broken then as I look deeper under the bumper I noticed all the bolts that secure the bumper are missing and the part broken was the only thing holding it together.  bad quality control. Buying a new car is always a huge decision, and Tesla made it easy. My wife and I wanted to go hybrid/electric and visited a few dealerships and were underwhelmed by the experience. Poor selection, indifferent salespeople, shoddy dealerships. We decided at the last minute to drive to the Carlsbad Tesla store and check out their offerings. Best thing we ever did! The facility is immaculate, the staff warm and inviting and the process for test driving vehicles is seamless. In short, an experience unlike anything we've ever encountered. I want to make special mention of our sales advisor Derek Glocker. But for his guidance and help, we probably would have deferred on our now purchase of two new Teslas (3 and Y) in our garage. He knows the product, is articulate and very responsive to what you are looking for in a Tesla. We have texted him numerous times about issues unique to newbies and he always responds immediately. If Tesla is hiring people like Derek, then its future is unlimited. I recommend Tesla in general, and Derek in particular, without hesitation. read more

Really bad customer service and response times. I brought my car in on Saturday morning and was told the car would be ready by end of day. It started going downhill from there. The rep told me he sent Uber share credits but they didn't show up in the messages under the Tesla app. I had to request a second time after I left to get them. The car was not able to be completed by end of day but no communication of a delay was given through the app or chat. The next day, the ETA showed a completion time of 11:45am. However, I saw the car being serviced through the app at 1pm. The estimated time of completion was not updated on the app to reflect the delay nor were there messages explaining why. Then it looked like it was completed and charging around 3pm but I was waiting for confirmation from the app. It wasn't until 4 that I finally decided to ask when the service would be complete. Magically, I received a message 5 min later that it was. I then asked if I could pick the car up and no responses came back from the time I asked to pick the car up till they closed. So I went from thinking I'd get the car back Saturday evening to then having to take time out of the week to pick it up bc the communication is so poor. The very reason I scheduled service on the weekend is to avoid having to take time out of a busy weekday schedule to deal with this. To top it all off, I was charged for something that was estimated at $0. I didn't even request that particular service. It was automatically added along with other recalls when I scheduled my display to be looked at. Not sure what's going on over there. Take better care of your customers and take pride in your work please. The 3 stars on yelp suggest something isn't right over there. read more

Just purchased our first EV from Tesla. We found our experience to be seamless and actually enjoyable. Derek has been our advisor and from the moment we stopped into the dealership he was so helpful, inspite of being incredibly busy. We were able to drive a couple of models and decided on the Model 3 to start. They delivered the car to our home and drove off with our trade. With Tesla, there are no long hours spent in the dealership haggling with finance and being upsold on endless options and warranties. Tesla has streamlined the process down to the neccessities. The price is the price and there are only a few options to choose from if you desire. The process is very transparent and most of it is done from the comfort of your home. We are so pleased, we are also going to buy the Model Y and say goodbye to gasoline. If you haven't been to Tesla or driven one of the cars, I recommend doing so. As a new owner of Tesla, I picked up my car here. Joshua was good at explaining the terms & conditions, showing me how features work in the car & helpful when answering questions. Taking off a star because car was not washed well, visible spots and black dirt marks between door jabs. When you purchase a new car, customize & make an appointment to pick up you expect it to be spotless, clean & shiny - nothing less. Few days later took car in for service, took a week to complete, had a loaner in mean time. When I went to pick up my car, once again it was not cleaned and not charged fully! Another star dropped for poor service, all other local car dealers have your car washed after service but not Tesla? My car was at dealer for an entire week for a small repair and in that time it was not washed nor was battery charged, seems to be like those should be basic courtesy service items...wondering if I made a smart purchase with Tesla??? read more

Stopped at the service center without an appointment and immediately they took the vehicle to fill all the tires. In addition they topped of the windshield wiper fluid. Worst decision you can do, I was told that although you cannot buy it out, I could sell it at any time to a third party dealer, I was able to do so and pull up payoff quotes but 2 months after , was told I couldn't do it anymore . Biggest scam and I have a lot of equity as of right now. I'm returning my lease and going elsewhere. Plus the quality of Tesla is cheap and the ride inside the cabin is trash. read more

Let us hope that not all Tesla dealerships are created equal and perhaps Mr. Musk will occasionally take a peek at what's happening at the end of the line. I recently purchased a fully loaded Y so needless to say, I purchased something special. Pick up day came and I was so exited to finally get my long awaited car! When I got there it was disorganized and seemed like several of the crew was just winging it. After some waiting I was directed to the back of the building where the attendant said to hold on a minute and he'd hand me my car. 30 mins later I went back as he had forgotten I was waiting. Upon inspection, we noticed a large paint chip and we both took photos. I was instructed to make an appointment to have it taken care of . I made an appointment and was told they would have to keep my car for 2 weeks so o asked for a loaner car, (they did not offer). I showed up to my appointment several days later only to find out my loaner car had not been reserved! The service agent called the car rental company to get me a car but had no luck! That visit cost me over and hour!! I rescheduled and made sure they included my loaner car. The day of the appointment I was running a few minutes late due to a traffic accident in front of me. I called the service center to let them know and the man on the line said not to worry, it would be ok. I specifically indicated that I had a reserved car and again he assured me it would be fine and that the car would be waiting! I arrived at Tesla some minutes later to find that of course they had given my reserved car away! Again the service team started to scramble making calls and speaking in low voices while trying to look calm but clearly stressed. Worse of all is the excuse they gave for giving my car away, it was an emergency! an emergency that needed my specific reserved vehicle?! Again, calling their local car rental and at this point trying to convince me to take anything on four wheels! As someone who has owned several businesses and is self employed, I know a three ring circus when I see one! These people have absolutely no customer service skills and are incapable of putting their customers first! I asked for the manager and got the run around ; he was supposed to call me back but never did. As of today I am still driving a damaged brand new Tesla and will be looking for a dealership that treats their customers with more respect! Tesla Carlsbad is worse than a used car dealership. I will never go there again and just talked my friend out of making the same mistake so she is actually now at the Mercedes dealership where quality and service are far above the rest. read more

I am very displeased with my service from the store on Lionshead Ave in Carlsbad Saturday morning (10APR21). Although I've had multiple friends have extremely good first experiences with Tesla, I did not have one of those experiences.     I'd like to start off by explaining the situation. Walking in the door at 10am (when my wife scheduled and got confirmation for the appointment) I was informed that I not only did not have an appointment but, they also had given my car away (even though I already had my Vin number and paid the down payment). Ms. Christen (the lady working at the front desk) was very disrespectful and dismissive, telling me that there was "nothing she could do". She continued to be dismissive even after we pulled up the confirmation that my wife received for that appointment. I was helped by another staff member after Christen, who although was more respectful than Christen he still gave me the run around. I was told multiple times over the span of 90 MINUTES that there was nothing anyone could do because they "already gave MY car to another customer" and even though I drove 1 hour to get to that location I was told that I would have to drive back at a later date after they reordered my Tesla. Then I was informed that the car was parked in the warehouse all along and the "owner" said it was okay for me to take MY CAR.     My wife jumped through hoops setting up the appointment online through her account (with my name on everything) and was promised that the staff at Tesla would help me switch the remaining information to my account Saturday morning. When I asked Ms. Christen for assistance with this she was not only disrespectful and provided me with no assistance at all she was  demonstrated a high level of unprofessionalism that seemed to be a direct reflection of the customer service provided that day. She demonstrated this by stating the information provided to my wife was wrong and that I had to do it all from the app, which is not true. While waiting patently in the waiting room I had another question about insurance that I reluctantly asked Ms. Christen and again I was treated with a disrespectful attitude as if I was wasting her time.     I want to make very clear that I have no issues with Tesla, I have issues with the situation that happened and the poor customer service that has introduced me to this company. I refused to be profiled (being a 24 year old man) as someone who doesn't get to be taken seriously while buying his first new car. After 5 years in the United States Military I have never been so disrespected and miss treated. I am disappointed if this is the type of serves that Tesla allows at the face of their company. THE NEXT DAY! I was driving down the highway utilizing autopilot, when without warning disengaged. Then all my warnings popped up on the screen. Warnings being, "NO BREAK FLUID, NO WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID, SENSORS NOT WORKING, PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE". This is all while I have my family in the car. Then after I park, my car won't shut off, and a loud noise started coming from the front of my car (and I had come to find out that when the mechanic looked at it the next morning, the car was still making that noise). So that must mean that my car has been overheating all night? This is a brand new car, I've never heard of someone having issues like this two days out of the store. And I hadn't even been given a rental car, so not only did I just purchase a new car but I didn't even have anything to drive. So this must mean one of two things. The company either didn't do a pre inspection before handing me the keys or I was given a bad car. Either way, I don't think that I'm wrong in asking what will be done about these issues? The worst part is, I've never even heard about someone complaining about this company. So I still believe that this is just a 1 in a millionth situation, however that does not excuse the fact that these issues are happening to me within the first day. Two months ago I had emailed an informal complaint to the company. All I wanted was a reply, a simple "we're sorry". But after two months I have received nothing back. So hopefully I get a phone call or something out of this.. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Margaret was pleasant enough each time we called to discuss the repair of our Model 3 and a significant safety concern. There is a catastrophic system failure which occurs when the auxiliary battery (a 12 volt) needs to be replaced. The control panel screen will be dark/unresponsive and you won't be able to use the Tesla phone key in the Tesla app on your phone. The actual Tesla key card won't work, either. The doors/windows won't open because one of the many things the auxiliary power system is responsible for is the actuator which opens the doors/windows. A horrid sulfur smell will also be evident as a result of the battery failing. Dustin, lead service tech, ran diagnostics and was willing to explain what his findings. Unfortunately, the findings of the diagnostic tests were inconclusive. This was very disturbing considering the fact that I was trapped in the car with no AC and was unaware of where the UNMARKED manual door release was. This is the case for MANY Tesla owners, who would not be able to get out of a car without breaking a window in an emergency situation. I escalated my concern, speaking with Christopher (the site manager). The first thing he mentioned was that both he & Dustin were baffled because our Model 3 had power when the tow truck delivered it the day after this frightening incident. I politely informed the that the car had power because the tow truck driver gave the battery some power to get the car on the tow truck. This was a TOTAL LACK OF COMMUNICATION!! I don't necessarily blame the tow truck driver, either, because it seems that this Tesla location just wants to upcharge customers for services and just send the on their way. The objective is clearly high volume with low customer satisfaction. Christopher even suggested that we file an arbitration claim, which was quickly denied. Hmm . . . coincidence? Prob not. I think that he just wanted to get us off the phone so he could deal with whatever else he had going on. There is a TOTAL LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND UNDERSTANDING - as demonstrated by the way Christopher handled our situation. The ironic thing is that he said that "one of the many reasons he likes working at Tesla is because the company defers to arbitration to resolve customer issues." This Tesla location offers such poor customer service and is clearly not concerned with customer retention. We experienced MUCH BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THE AUTONATION IN VISTA when we purchased our BMW I3 about 1.5 yrs ago. Our many friends/family who are Tesla owners were shocked when they heard how unprofessionally our situation was handled by this Tesla location. This location takes their customers for granted and knows very little about customer retention. read more

Went to visit the showroom on 3/14/21 and at the entry there were two young gals sitting at a table behind laptops. The gal on the left said, "What can I help you with?". She couldn't bother to look up from her computer as she greeted me. I told her I was interested in seeing a model S. Specifically I said I was curious about the storage of the S. She then asked me why I was interested in the S and I mentioned that I've been driving a MB SUV and that I was interested in switching to a sedan. She said the Tesla most similar to what I was driving was a model Y. I said I've seen those but was interested in the S. She seemed annoyed and said "We don't have any and we won't have any for months." and then I was seemingly dismissed. During this entire interaction she seemed more interested in whatever she was looking at on her computer rather than helping a potential buyer. Tesla Carlsbad has left me with nothing but amazing things to say! We picked both of our cars up here and had an incredible experience. From the sales advisors who checked us in and walked us to our car, to the delivery team who made the pick up process effortless and even the service team has been nothing less than excellent. I want to give a shout-out to Damon from service! I had a service done on my car not too long ago and he was so nice and addressed all of my concerns, making sure I was taken care of. I am a huge fan of Tesla. Everything about their cars, from their design, to the technology is outstanding. However, the people that work at Tesla do not encompass the qualities Tesla continues to inspire. I have bought three cars from Tesla in total. I have the model Y, S 90, and the S85. In the first three days of having a brand new model Y, the car had to be taken back due to issues with the battery, which is very shocking since the car is brand new. The S90 has been in my hands for only a week of owning it for the whole month, and the S85 also has multiple issues but Tesla is very vague in describing the issues. When I first bought one of the cars, Tesla charged the wrong account that had been used for another purchase previous. When I called Tesla asking if they could reverse the charge and charge another account, they agreed. I checked my statements and they had charged both accounts and not reversed the first trans action. When I called again, they denied that they had made these charges and told me I had no proof. When I explained that I had bank statements and concrete proof the supervisor at Tesla Carlsbad California, Mike Cornwell, started to raise his voice at me and also started using profanity ( the F word). I was shocked at the low level of professionalism which I expected to be so high at Tesla. I am extremely frustrated with the service he provided for me and disgusted that he is considered to be qualified as a manager. I ended up dealing with this issue on my own with my bank. In regards to the multiple service issues, I have taken all of these cars in multiple times. When I tell the workers what I need fixed with my car, they continuously forget! Which results in leaving my car(s) in service for up to three weeks!! I am extremely disappointed in Tesla, for being one of the most unique and highly innovative company's in the world, I expect much much more. As of today, February 17, my three cars are still stuck in service. read more

The people who work here are disgustingly inept. So horrible at customer service it makes me sick to even consider that they are able to have a job when there are people who would actually work hard and do well and treat the customers like people that don't have jobs. Everyone huffed while walking past us and avoiding our eyes but the worst one was a younger woman with long hair in a ponytail that looked at me in a the eyes, looked at my husband then asked a man behind us if he needed help. WTF was that about? I can't help but wonder if she and ultimately everyone there was being discriminatory with how they avoided us. read more
