Initially, I was told there may be opportunities to finance a used Toyota Highlander and later a Nissan Murano. After my credit was run and I made arrangements to come to the dealership, the conversation changed significantly. When I arrived, I was informed that the only vehicle a lender would approve was a 2024 Toyota Corolla with approximately 29,000 miles. The terms presented were $1,000 down, a 66-month loan, a monthly payment of $805.25, and a 29% APR. I was also told there were no SUV options available despite previous discussions about other vehicles. I understand that lenders make the final financing decisions and that inventory can change. My disappointment came from the lack of consistency between what was discussed before my visit and what was ultimately presented in person. As a single mother trying to make a responsible financial decision, I left feeling that my needs and budget were not fully considered. I appreciate the kindness of the sales representative I initially worked with, but my overall experience left me frustrated and confused. I would encourage future customers to request all financing terms, including APR, loan length, total amount financed, and vehicle availability, in writing before making a trip to the dealership.

After the first oil change, I kept smelling something burning. I brought it back because I knew something was not right, even though I was initially told it was fine. It turned out that the oil cap had not been put back on. They told me they had to clean the entire engine and said they made it look "showcase." That was obviously a serious mistake. Even after that, I continued going back for oil changes because they were supposed to be included with the lease. Recently, my husband received multiple text messages and phone calls saying there was an "important safety recall" that needed immediate attention. We scheduled the drop-off for this morning and planned to have the recall handled along with regular service. When my husband arrived, he was told there was no recall and that the employee had "triple checked." Then he was told the service would cost around $1,600 for the checkup, oil change, tire rotation, and other items. He was also told the free oil changes were only for 2 years, which is not what we were told when we leased the vehicle. That also does not make sense because I had the oil changed there in late fall or early winter. My husband ended up leaving with the car and was late to work because of this. When I called to follow up, I was told the last and only oil change on record was in May 2024. That is not accurate, and it is very concerning that their records do not match the service we received. Between the oil cap being left off after service, the confusing recall messages, the sudden $1,600 charge, the conflicting information about the lease oil changes, and the inaccurate service records, I no longer feel confident in how this dealership is handling our vehicle. This is also not the first major issue we have had with Downtown Honda Chicago. During the initial lease, we were overcharged, and they later wrote us a check for $2,000 in exchange for my husband not writing a terrible review. They even delivered the check to his workplace, which he did not know was going to happen. All of this has made the entire experience feel extremely unprofessional and concerning. These issues need to be escalated, and I will also be contacting Honda corporate.

Right after they switched to the Murgado brand, I brought my Ford Escape in for an oil change back in January of this year. I noticed immediately after the oil change that the plastic tray that covers the bottom of the engine would fall off and drag on the road. I bought some additional screws and that held me over until the cover continued to lose the screws and detach and today I asked them to fix it when I came in for my scheduled oil change. Parallel to this, I asked them to check a seatbelt in the rear that wouldn't retract. They said it'd be $280 for the diagnosis and the majority of the time, they can fix it. Okay. They have my car all day and tell me I have 45 minutes to come pick it up because they close at 6 unless I want to wait until tomorrow. They said it'd be $1200 to replace the seatbelt (they couldn't fix it) and $600 to replace the bottom cover. I denied both. I talked to my service advisor, David and explained that they caused the issue with the bottom cover and he lied to me and said they didn't need to remove the cover for an oil change. He also said they couldn't cut the part hanging off because it was covering a key part of the engine protecting it which also ended up being false. They also charged me $30 to put new screws in without fixing the problem. When I arrived and complained to the manager, they did nothing to fix the issue (saying the car was "old") and still charged me $440 for the oil change, 3 screws and seatbelt diagnosis Oh, and did I mention when I looked at the bottom and did a small minor tug, one of the screws came right out. I also disassembled the back seatbelt myself, and I fixed it within 2 minutes of messing with it. I'll never be back. UPDATE: I took the cover off the broken seatbelt and messed with it for 5 minutes and was able to fix it. I asked the service manager for a refund for the $280 and they said they'd send me a check. 20 days later, I never got the check, so enjoy the chargeback on my credit card. STAY AWAY!

What was never made clear is that they would restart diagnostic procedures from scratch and that in doing so, would escalate the pricing into thousands of dollars. What started as a simple $280 inspection disclosure turned into escalating charges that should have been discussed prior to the appointment time. All smiles during the handoff, but once the car was in their possession, the floodgates of extra and absurd pricing came in. The entire experience felt like textbook bait-and-switch which is especially disappointing considering the long standing relationship we had with this dealer.

Starting off, one needs to know that it is a small lot in central Chicago and there was no parking around whatsoever, I had to walk to the area, and when I did get there, I had some difficulty finding the front desk. There is a warehouse on the left where a few men were working on the cars. I decided that they were too deep in their work to be bothered by me, and I walked around the cramped place. A man drove up in a Ford Taurus, parked it, and upon seeing me, greeted me quite nicely and asked what car I was looking for. He answered my questions respectfully, and I might add, truthfully, as he didn't seem to think long. He offfered to show me around, and I said I could manage on my own. While I was looking around, He walked up to me a couple of times and asked if I was having trouble. I said no. At the end, he said he appreciated me coming, shook my hand, and gave me some business cards. Now, onto the car quality. Some I saw were completely torn down inside, with wires everywhere and half with missing center consoles. However, all of the cars, except about 1 or 2 on the lot, had a musty smell, combined with an overpowering sweet scent, like someone hadn't showered and only wore cologne for a year had lived in the car. I never found the reason why that was. Other cars had police decals on them that were being scraped off, and there was a building in the back, seemingly unused, as the door was rusty, locked, dented, and the windows were boarded up. Good place. Could be better.

When I asked around about their reputation and did some research, I got nothing but a lot of past negativity. I was advised to stay away by some of the Porsche experts in the field whom care about me deeply and have a great friendship with. You guessed it, I proceeded anyways with the vision that finding a combo like this isn't an everyday opportunity - This is when I first connected with Parin Shah, to explore the car and its background. Parin and the CMC folks were nothing short of incredibly honest, forthcoming and fair in describing the car. Parin himself spoke with me multiple times, getting me everything I needed and gave me full access to the car for PPI at another dealer. My review on the PPI in the Chicago are is here, and once again thanks to the Barnaba team: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-turb...993-turbo.html- Parin and my sales lead Chris Moran were truly awesome. The deal was a very fair one, the car checked out perfectly with the thorough PPI. I just received the car and took for a drive, it is incredible and 100% as described. In fact, they under promised and over delivered. What a gorgeous 993 Turbo! I also like to say that Parin and the CMC team showed so much Good-Will towards building a relationship - in an effort to build towards the Porsche community and win my business as a potential future client. They were punctual, follow-through A+ and delivered on every single promise they made. I was direct with Parin the first time we talked, I asked him about the negative thoughts out in the market. He was very mature, honest and respectful towards that opinion. He said "give me a chance" - boy am I glad that i did. Parin, Chris and the CMC team : Thank you so much for your hard work and for delivering to me Iris Blue as promised. You have won a client for life!
