I was staying overnight in San Diego for business and just browsed through the dealership since it's walking distance. Even though I made it clear that I was just browsing, the beautiful young sales woman was extremely friendly and personable and showed me everything about the car and let me know that I was free to test drive one anytime. I always thought Teslas sold for about $150k (and perhaps some models do) but the one on display was being sold for $70k. Still really pricey but on a different day, if I really really wanted to do it, I could get one. I just appreciated that courtesy from her. I may be a promotion (or two) away from being that playful with my money but she did a great job of selling it to me . . . if I wanted to drop money I should be saving for something else. read more

Today I went to the mall to specifically find this store. After walking around the entire mall, we are very excited to walk in. There was zero cars on their show floor. We walked around to look at some of the videos on the TVs on the wall. The woman who worked in this location didn't even acknowledge that we were in there. Didn't ask us if we had any questions. Didn't even look up at us. As we were walking out the door, I asked her if she worked there. I thought there was a good possibility that maybe if she was just a customer and the employee sales person was not out on the floor. She was staring at a computer the entire time we were there.Her answer was, " Yes I work here and we are sold out of Tesla's". Now it all makes sense. She didn't care to talk to us because she had nothing to sell. She was the rudest sales person I've ever come across. And to think I was going to purchase a vehicle today. I've walked by this place over a dozen times and never went in. I remember back when I worked at Sony, the CEO getting a Tesla. Back then it was over $100k. But it was bleeding edge as an 100% electric luxury vehicle. Yesterday, on a whim, I asked my friend if they wanted to go in and they said yes! So we went in and sat in one. To my surprise, the salespeople were very cool. They showed us how to use the voice controls to have the car find the exact song we wanted by naming music and artist. I held the button and said, "Lenny Kravitz, "Are You Gonna Go My Way?" " and tada! There was Lenny crooning the hit from my youth. They even let us just play with the controls a little and 'dance' a little in the car. No one looked at us funny or treated us weird. This was the nicest and least pressure car dealer experience I have ever felt. And guess what? I ended up looking up pricing and they're only like $70k versus the $100K they used to be! Now with an engine the size of a breadbox, two 'trunks' and no gas to worry about, Tesla is now even a consideration for me in the future. This will be the step up from my Prius when I'm done with loving on my Prius. Truth is, I think we will all be in electric and even self- driving vehicles within the next 20 years. It's not that this sales center is any worse then any other as they are not a dealership but only follow direct orders from Tesla himself on how they handle potential customers. The complaint is about how Tesla changes the actual handling and driving of the car you just bought through their software updates after you buy the car. So the car you buy is not the car you receive. 1. They downgrade the auto steer and cruise control. Auto steer: When you buy the car the auto steer requires you to touch the steering wheel every ten minutes or so (which is reasonable). The software that they require you to download changes that to every 10-30 seconds. This would be the complete opposite to auto steering plus it's unsafe because you are required to take your eye's off the road every 10-30 seconds to try and time the touching of the steering wheel when the notice comes up on your dash. Cruise control: The cruise control will often just turn itself down to the speed limit without any notice. If you drive on any Ca. highway and your car unexpectedly drops down (quickly) without using the brake lights to the speed limit it can cause an accident. This software changes how the car runs so your not getting the car your buying but something less. It might be more then these two things as these are the two that stand out to me that are safety concerns. Tesla, I found out just like all Tesla owners eventually will find out that their isn't any Dealerships in Tesla's corporate structure that feel any responsibility to you as a individual car owner because their are no Dealers (henceforth no personal relationship) in Tesla. read more

Be aware of the sales here, it turns out they give you false information / incentive when talking you into buying tesla. My wife and I was looking for a ModenX for a while but had not decided, then on 06/30 we went there again, the sales offered us free lifetime supercharging if we place order before 07/01, we then placed the order. But afterwards when we got the car, we found out we still only got 400kw limit / yr for super charging. then we went to talk to store manager last week, we even provided a friend's Tesla referral code (we were NOT informed by sales that who gets referred by Tesla owner will receive free unlimited super charging) store manager told us will take care of it and will also talk to the sales about this, apparently sales misinformed us by providing non-existing incentive, we could have gave our friends referral code by the time we placin order! but 1 week later, still no updates, we went to UTC store again, they told some vague answer that they have reached out to the team in SF but has not heard reply etc.. Here are two factors about this sales center: 1. Sales are being dishonest and misinformed customer with fake incentives when trying to make a sale 2. After we went back, manager should have resolved the issue and we should see updates on our account immediately, not have to go back and get some answer like "tried to reach out to other team but no reply" , which team you were referring to and have they all be on vacation for the past week?? The things I would expect from sales is being honest and professional, after all Tesla trying so hard to distinguish themselves from regular car dealer, I guess I m expecting too much ? For my next Tesla or whatever I for sure will not be going back to this store Just be aware ! Though I'm not in the market for a new car, I stepped into the Tesla dealership while shopping at UTC. It's a small showroom that showcases one of each Tesla model: Model X, Model S and Model 3). The most expensive model, the Model X (SUV) was located in the back of the showroom with its unique Falcon Wing doors up and ready for onlookers to gaze inside. It really is a thing of beauty. One day... For the time being, I was just there as a spectator. Several associates greeted me and my daughter warmly. Though I made it clear that I was just there to look at the Teslas with no intention to buy, an associate named Clifton took the time to educate me on some of the features that set Tesla apart from any other brand. Clifton expressed that Tesla encourages "educational test drives" because driving an electric car is very different and invited me to make an appointment any time to try one out. He had me take a seat in the Model S and showcased some features like the voice command function, integrated touchscreen display, and the very unique front trunk (which he laughingly said they call a "frunk"). I bought a different luxury brand car a couple of years ago, so Tesla is not in my near future plans, but I so appreciate the gracious welcome I and my daughter received today. Tesla is truly a thing of beauty. Thank you to Clifton and the other associates who allow guests like me to learn about these spectacular cars with no sense of obligation or with the thinly veiled haughtiness of some other dealerships. There comes a point where you can't just walk past this store. You've got to go in and sit in the cars they've got parked in the showroom. I'm sure the salespeople see this all the time from the consumer that can't afford the Tesla, but dream of doing so! The young man that urged me to take a seat in the Tesla SUV was so pleasant! You'd think there would be a level of condescension from such employees but that was not the case at all! He encouraged me to touch/try everything and wasn't super pushy about when I was going to sign the paperwork. I told him I had just bought my 2016 model car and wasn't necessarily in the market for a new car and he was absolutely cool about it! He didn't waltz off to find a more promising commission. I learned that they've got several cars to test spin (though they're asked all the time if the cars in the showroom are the test-cars...) in an adjacent garage. I believe next time I'm in the area, I'll take them up on the drive! read more

A few things to know about Tesla's: 1. Don't try to buy one if you don't have a charger at home. Charging fee for the car is expensive. A gas car or hybrid would save you more money than a Tesla due to the low range 200-300 mile range on electric cars gets you charging every couple of days if you drive a lot. 2. The automatic drive feature can be glitchy and mistaken trailers for an actual vehicle in front of you, my car came to a stop in the middle of the freeway near Palm Springs. Thankfully the car behind me slowed down. 3. The worst customer service for after sales. There is no humans available to help for after sales if you buy parts or accessories. These robots don't return emails either! And the humans who work at the retail location are not helpful since the problem is Tesla didn't bother to integrate their online inventory so a human in the store can help. You must deal with the robots if you have an issue with your online purchases. read more

First off, let me start off by saying the cars themselves are AMAZING. I got to test drive a model 3 and it was mind blowing. However, with that being said, the car itself isn't the only factor when considering purchase; the salespeople play a big role as well (at least in my opinion). And for that, let me just say Rayna is amazing. I wasn't even sure if I was going to actually get the car, and even though it took me 2 weeks to finally purchase, she was amazing in always being prompt to answer my questions and calls no matter the time of day. We were strolling thru the mall and stopped in to see theTesla for just a minute. We were not immediately greeted but, I bet most customers are just browsing anyway (not offended). When I asked the young beautiful sales lady some questions about the car, options available, price, and service availability, all my questions were answered! She took my husband and I over to a big touch screen TV and started showing me the answers I was looking for. This car can be a 7 seater, with two additional rear facing seats for our kids and their friends! She said it will cost less than $500 a year to charge if we drive 10k miles per year at San Diego Kilowatt prices. I can charge the car free at my work, we have charging stations already!! The additional two seats in the back would only cost an additional $1500! Leather is an additional $1500. Not bad at all. I want this car!! read more

Matt was really knowledgeable and pretty much knew the car inside our. He explained the car's many features (which were quite a few) in detail and answered all my questions. Such an awesome experience! Test driving the Tesla Model X was the most exciting ride of my life! My parents got to experience the Tesla autopilot for themselves and were sold on the spot by the car and its many features! I have ordered my Tesla, and now my parents are ordering one too! NOTE: While the vast majority of reviews for Tesla are VERY positive, there will always be a few negative reviews, by entitled-complainers, who believe they should be able to use dealerships & showrooms just to joy-ride, even though they have no intention of buying. Then there are those that will complain if there is so much as a tiny speck of dust on their windshield, and will never be happy. For those living in the real world... we know that people are people, no car is perfect, but Tesla Motors is about 75 years ahead of anything else out there, in performance, in quality, in safety, and especially in long-term value! :) read more

I had a great experience at the Tesla Showroom in the UTC Mall. I didn't really know much about Tesla cars so I asked one of the employee on the floor, Nic, to tell me more about the cars they have. Nic walked me through the different models they have, and which one would best fit what I'm looking for. I really liked the Model X and so I requested an appointment for a test drive. Nic got me the earliest appointment which was in the afternoon the next day! The test drive experience was incredible. Nic really knows the cars inside and out.
