Great Italian fare at a good price. Friendly staff comfortable atmosphere. Food always tastes the same.

It's been a while since I ordered from Testo's and today I thought about them and ordered. It was the Best pizza I ordered in a long time!!!

I was there at lunchtime and got the "favorite" special, described as 3 meat balls and a salad. The salad was big enough to be an entree and included shredded sweet peppers, croutons and cheese mixed in with the lettuce. The meat balls were as big as a fat boy's fist and accompanied by half a loaf of nice garlic bread. All this for $6.95. I have a beef with local red sauce places that charge ridiculous prices for simple food and this is a perfect antidote. Most of the patrons and staff seem to know each other... the manager greeted two wise guys as "the pair that beats a full house every time". My only reservation is, oddly, the famous red sauce itself. It's generic... not enough tomato intensity or interesting herbs. But at these prices, I'll pull through. read more

Had a great time here on Saturday night prior to the Big Red Freakout. We are from out of town (Johnstown) and read about this place on yelp. Fortunately, we called ahead and arrived at 5pm to miss the night rush. At 6 when we left there was 30 people waiting already. This is what all Italian restaurants should be: great service, quality and the opposite of what you'd get at a chain. The pizza was good, but nowhere near the best we've ever had. I'd give it around a 3, maybe a tad better. It did taste good and the pizza was huge. Meanwhile, the pastas were excellent. The sauce was - no question - homemade and had a tremendous amount of flavor. And, the pasta tasted perfect. We also tried the antipasto, which was very good. Deli meats/cheeses tasted fresh. Testos is a local restaurant that has been supported by the local community for years. We support local restaurants in a sense of community, supporting them so that we dont see local restaurants close during hard times. Loyalty to the community. Its a shame that Testos responds by charging each delivery customer a delivery charge, a charge for a service they do not provide.. The delivery people use their resources such as their cars and their gas, often struggling to pay for gas to go to work to make those deliveries, and they rely on tips. We ordered from Testos in Lansingburgh last night. I was quoted a price that was different at delivery. I tip generously, but i called the restaurant and was told they charge a delivery fee. Wait, you never told me when I called that there is a delivery charge. Silence. ok, so why are you charging , Testo's didnt deliver it,right? She said thats right. i said a delivery man uses his car and his gas to deliver, right ? She said, thats right. I asked, then what are you charging a delivery fee for? She said, thats just the way we do it. I asked again, why do you charge for a service you arent providing? I tip generously to the delivery guy. She said again, its what we do. I asked, do you give any of it to the delivery people? She said no, it all goes to the restaurant. If i had knowledge of this, I would never had ordered from them. I told her, you are now taking money out of the delivery mans pocket because when he tells them a total that is different than quoted, as I was, that will mean he gets less of a tip and the customer is confused and may feel like something shady is happening. The shady part is on the part of the business, not the driver. I told her this is the same thing the phone companies used to do by adding charges that aren't actually a legitimate charge for any service provided. She snickered. ok, i cant in good conscience order from a business that takes the money out of the pocket of the guy who is actually providing the delivery service, because people will tip him less because of the greed of the business owner. People set aside a certain amount for food or pizza night or whatever. Disgusting and greedy behavior. We order out a few times per week. I never caught this before. I only caught it because when I ordered, the price at the door was 13.00 higher than i was quoted on the phone. I paid, and I tipped the usual generous tip. So i called to ask, and the menu prices were added correctly when they charged me, but they didnt tell me the correct price on the phone, ok, thats fine. I can afford what I order. But it's the last thing she said that stopped me.. delivery charge. And thats the thing.. way to go, looking out for the workers Testos. And way to go Testo's ,looking out for your customers. You would think in these times, when many have been out of work, that Testos would appreciate their business and not charge a charge that they dont provide. This is a good example of greed. When you charge a delivery fee, no matter that its just 2 or 3.00, that's still taking money from your delivery guy who is doing the job and relying on tips, just like a waitress does. Shame on you. I can certainly afford a 2.00 fee, Im blessed with good income, some cant though.. And that's the point. Some people are counting pennies to order their kids a pizza on the weekend or a busy weeknight. Shame on you Testos. Why should you charge for a service that you do not provide? greedy. You are charging people for a service that isnt a service you provide. The delivery guy provides it with his car and his gas. And that single mom that struggles to get her kids a lousy pizza once in a while now has to tip the poor delivery guy less. Shame on you Testos. We will never order from them again, there are too many restuarants that dont take part in this and the food at other restuarants is very often much better. My advice, before putting in your order for delivery at any restaurant, ask if they charge for delivery and if they do, hang up. Call another resturant and give the business to the ones that look out for their customers and their workers. Testos has survived for years from the local community , who want to support local businesses and save them from going under in tough times, and Testos responds by charging customers for a service Testos doesnt provide and taking money out of the pockets of their delivery people. Excellent italian food at a local joint! I had the chicken parm lunch special and it was delicious! It was just the right amount of food. The chicken had the right amount of breading and melted cheese and I loved how the garlic bread was almost half a foot long. I've been to a bunch of italian restaurants where you usually only get a tiny piece of garlic bread and you run out of bread before you've finished your meal. For dessert, I got the buttercream gelato. I think the buttercream flavor was a little too subtle for me, but overall it was good and satisfied my gelato craving. I am so glad that we tried Testos. I am new to the area, and upon recommendation we tried. The side Caesar salad was so fresh. Served with real mozzarella cheese, and the best Caesar dressing I've had. Chicken Alfredo was a huge portion. The sauce was perfect and broccoli was cooked correctly. Let me start by saying we almost only eat at local restaurants and I prefer to leave positive reviews to support small businesses than leaving a negative review if we have 1 poor experience. The restaurant has been around for many years and the Decour has not changed much. We were given delicious fresh Italian bread and butter to start. I have found Testo's to have the best white broccoli pizza I have ever had and I get it pretty regularly. They use a creamy garlic sauce that makes it so good. I noticed someone posted here that Verdile's has a better one and I tried it. The one I got had no sauce at all. I have found that many places will give you a pizza with no sauce if you ask for a white pizza. read more

The Pride of Lansingburgh. This place is legendary. I have eaten at Testo's literally my entire life. This is my family's go-to spot when we are ordering delivery at moms house as well. The food is amazing. Order ziti w/ alfredo and broccoli. Pasta Fagioli is literally perfect. Square pan pizza, the sauce is so good it's stupid. Customer service is great here, always seems like the staff is in a great mood, even when they're busy as hell. Honestly, one of my favorite things about Testo's is the delivery service. Pizza shows up piping hot. Soda shows up ICE COLD. Wings, mozzarella sticks (other deep fried items) are always crispy when they arrive...how?! read more

I recently have had some opportunities to really give Testo's a shot. A lot of people, including several people I know, have always said that you can only like one: Testo's or Verdile's. I like both, but my favorite remains Verdile's by a significant margin. Testo's is good, don't get me wrong, but I just wasn't very impressed by it. The food was OK, but nothing has really jumped out as great. The amount of food that you get is decent but I'd honestly expect a little more. The pizza, one of their foods that I always hear people raving about, wasn't really great at all. It was pretty decent, but it's not at the top of my list. As far as I'm concerned, Verdile's white pizza blows Testo's white pizza out of the water. Testo isn't off my list of places to go, but it's definitely not a first pick. read more

I had testos pizza a few times years ago and it was great. I didn't live in burgh, so I used to drive and pick it up. It was worth it. Anyway, I do live in lansingburgh now and last night I decided to order a pie. I saw on their website that 12 cuts are 12.50 plus 2.50 a topping. I ordered a 12 cut with chicken and onions. The girl on the phone said 21 dollars.. I told her I didn't think it added up. She told me yes it did, and that chicken is a premium topping, which costs 3.50. Maybe we went to school in different places but where I grew up 12.50 + 2.50 for onions is 15 bucks. Plus 3.50 for chicken should bring it to 18.50. Maybe they charge for delivery but I only live a few blocks away. I would have picked it up if that were the case. Anyway, I paid the price they charged and I tipped the driver like 3 bucks ontop of that. Normally I always tip the pizza guy 5 bucks but I was upset about being overcharged, even after I spoke up about it. The pizza was horrible. I'm not sure exactly what was different compared to their pizza when I loved it before but if I had to guess if say it was a little thicker crust before. I think they used better quality cheese before. They burnt the crap out of one chicken tender, cut it up, spread it out over my 12 cut and this is supposed to be a premium topping. The lasagna is a cheese-pasta confection sent here by way of heaven. Giant slices. Do not attempt to eat one yourself, could be injurious. Generous red sauce up top. The sauce they sell is great. The restaurant is your average cheap corner Italian food. Pizza is decent. I wasn't really hungry the last time I was here so I just got a house salad (which was huge) and eggplant rollatini special. The salad was your basic salad with a couple italian additions. The meatballs are so good I sometimes just order them. They come with sauce and some bread. The chicken broccoli alfredo is so good. Their sauce is so delicious that they actually jar and sell it now (although it tastes a bit different). Service is always great! It's often busy, especially on Friday and Saturday night so plan accordingly. If you want some authentic Italian food, you won't be disappointed! read more

Testo's is a nice old-school Italian restaurant. We had pizza (it was good) and chicken parma (also good). I had the chicken soup which turned out to be the best part of my meal. It was a little pricey for the food we got but it's a sit down place so I guess it goes to overhead. read more

Testo's is a very traditional neighborhood Italian Restaurant. Its menu consists primarily of traditional red sauce based dishes, but they are exceptionally well prepared. The draft menu includes some local (Brown's) craft beers, so the beer drinker is not confined to the usual suspects like so many restaurants. Testo's is one our favorites. read more

We have been to Italy and people had told us they loved this restaurant. But you have to consider the source of your information. The good points are there was no need to cleanse our palate when we were done eating. The sauce was good. The prices are great. We all felt we got plenty of food. The cons - The pasta was not good at all. Either it was over cooked or bargain brand pasta. If your restaurant is supposed to be authentic, at least use real pasta. The food was Italian American. Which is very different than authentic Italian food. I was disappointed in the pasta. read more

Food is good. Love their sauce, actually it's my favorite. My only issue is that their prices are getting very high, and their servings have shrunk to much so I won't be eating there anymore.
