The employee taking our order did great, as was the one that brought everything to our outdoor table, and the one that came to clean everything off the table. They had no problem with us finishing the coffees after they locked up. The batter on my fish was crunchy with the fish perfectly cooked. The same was true for the French fries. Everyone else was happy with their order as well. It's nice to know that this option is available, and we'll have to come back to try the breakfast fare.

We added some gourmet crackers that were neutral enough to not overpower the cheese. The next day, we made the three cheeses the focus of our lunch. The Delice de Bourgogne was the star of the show, a creamy, earthy, and savory masterpiece. The two year aged Gouda and creamy blue cheese were delightful as well! The prices seem reasonable here. I ordered the Philly Steak Sandwich with Fries ($10.95 plus tax) and an ice water with lemon. The friendly staff offered me a complementary slice of pepperoni pizza since they launched pizza nights on Friday and Saturday. The pizza was decent which has a good sauce pepperoni slices and minimal cheese on a soft and chewy crust. They also were low on fries so they offered me an additional fried side and I went with onion rings. The food arrived very hot and the Philly Steak Sandwich was very big and thick, which had grilled peppers & onions, melted cheese and 2 grilled steak-ums on a thick soft artisan bun. The standard fries were golden and crisp and as were the battered onion rings. I barely finished my lunch. The check was $11.83 with tax and before tip. Having several amazing BBQ experiences here over the past few years I felt it was high time to…read moreshare my thoughts and encourage others to sample some fine down home barbecue. This time we brought another couple of friends with us and ordered a full platter. It was served up in a matter of minutes and it incredibly completely filled three platters with assorted barbecue, including a full rack of ribs, pulled pork, sliced turkey, a quarter chicken and bratwurst, not to mention sliced pickles and rolls. Of course we selected three sides to come with it (which were included): a nice smoked potato salad, cider coleslaw, and cider braised sautéed greens. We added two homemade sauces, peach chipotle and applejack. Well the ribs were smoked using applewood and were so tender the meat fell off the bone. Everything was delicious and the sauces were superb which came as no surprise since they were made using fruit from the restaurant's adjoining farm. To wash it down we ordered an apple cider slushy which was thick with flavor. Again, no surprise, as there is an apple orchard on the farm. We were so stuffed that we joyfully took about half of the food home with us! I've enjoyed barbecue for a number of decades, including down in Memphis, and I must say that this no-frills restaurant with outdoor and indoor picnic table seating can play in the same league as some of the more renowned barbecue joints, certainly in the Capital and Hudson Valley regions. It paired perfectly with the tender, fatty ribs. When I think back on it as I am right now, I salivate. My husband also ordered their brisket sandwich (available only on Sundays), which looked just as appetizing as the ribs. The meat was cooked wonderfully medium rare with a charred exterior and a slightly pink interior. My husband ate that heartily. It was one of our favorite bites of the trip. I'm envious of my past self for enjoying that meal while I sit here now, craving it but unable to have it again.
