If someone can tell me what this place is famous for, I'll buy you a real pizza from almost anywhere else. We had my daughter's birthday party at a nearby museum and ordered pizza from here. There's a few locations and they've been around for a while so I expected decent--minimum average--pizza. I felt embarrassed to serve such awful pizza in the middle of center city. I've had better pizza in cafeterias. I've had better from the frozen food section in the supermarket. I've MADE better pizza in my kitchen. This wasn't real pizza. The dough looked and seemed frozen. Go anywhere else. There's a good chance you'll find better pizza. If this place is in fact famous, it's certainly not famous for good pizza. read more

Saw this place riding around downtown and decided to stop in. The restaurant was very clean and had a very authentic Philly look to it, inside and out. We like Pete's! I love thick crust pizza so this place is definitely for me, it's not deep dish by any means, but it's not "thin and crispy" ya know? Anyway, the pizza is really good tasting, my favorite is the pepperoni with hot honey. The garlic parm fries are also soooo good with an amazing sauce and really nice crisp. Pete's! I went to the one location nearest to broad street cause I was so hungry after a cocktail party. It looked like your run of the mill kind of pizza shop. Gus, coowner of the shop, was working that day. He recommended the Nutella Sugar Knots cause I was craving dessert. Then I realized I should probably get food food so ended up with the vegetarian quesadilla. Then when I checked in Yelp gave me a free cookie (yes Gus! It is the correct location the cookie comes up for...not the grays ferry one!) The cookie was average. Pretty big and full of chunks. I wish it would have been warmed a bit. The Nutella Sugar Knots are pretty solid! Full of confectionery sugar on top. The knots are very soft....might be better to make it a little crispy on the outside. The vegetable quesadilla was very good. I really liked how it came with a salad and I think it was the perfect amount of greens mixed with cheese. Overall the food is average at a 3 but the experience of watching Gus deems this place a 5. People make a restaurant and seeing his love for the restaurant was exciting! read more

I had the cheese steak and it was very delicious! I had the one with like 3 or 4 different cheeses. If feel like that was too much cheese for me. I asked which cheese was most popular for the cheese steak sandwich and they said American cheese. The meat was just above average but fresh. The bun seemed homemade. I added hot peppers, lettuce and mayonnaise. I give this cheese steak a 7.4 out of 10. If I had only had the American cheese I am sure the score would had been higher. First time at Pete's Famous pizza and I have to say they have a pretty decent pizza! I ordered a Greek pizza and mild buffalo wings. Let's start with the wings. Their mild sauce has a sweetness that I wasn't expecting but I wasn't mad at it either. It's similar to a traditional buffalo sauce with a hint of BBQ sauce and sugar. Interesting but acceptable. Now the pizza. The crust was not too thick or thin and slightly crunchy which I love. The dough and the sauce were ok. The sauce tasted like an ordinary premade pizza sauce. The star of the pie were the cheese and Greek toppings. The cheese was gooey goodness and the olives, tomatoes and spinach were a great balance of salty and mild. Oh and the service was great. I've been occasionally getting food from her about 12 years. Food is solid. Unfortunately they dropped their best cheesesteak 10 years ago. For some reason small pizzas are a hella lot better than large, especially Pete's special and yea, I know, a bacon pizza. Wings are their best thing. Get them dry with buffalo sauce on the side. Nicely cooked. Recently went back to the center city version that I first sampled (now do the fairmount one). Pretty bad order I picked up. They completely forgot my pizza (the Stromboli is in a pizza box so faked me out), and my Stromboli was a pizza one and not the meatball with a side of marinara sauce. Front person should check the ticket on the bag before giving it out. In a saving note, the fairmount peeps brought a pizza for us later. read more

I used to love this place, but the last 2 times I've ordered here, it has been a disaster. The straw that broke the camel's back happened the last time I ordered when my sister came over and wanted a cheesesteak. I would always order cheesesteaks from here because they were good, cheap, and arrived fast. But now I am completely done with Pete's. My most recent order arrived much later than usual, the order was wrong, the food was cold, and it was stingy! I ordered 2 cheesesteaks, one with provolone and fried onions, the other with just American cheese. I added a side of fries to both of them for an extra $2 each. Both of the cheesesteaks arrived bare...yes BARE! No cheese, no onions, and definitely very little meat. I was so disappointed and embarrassed to serve this to my sister that I had to do something. Luckily, I had cheese in my fridge and I scraped very little meat out of the container to refill the cheesesteaks. I tossed them back in the oven and hoped for the best. We took all the food out oven, fries included and started to eat. The bread was tough, the meat was dry, and my cheese did not save the day. The bread cut up my sister's roof of her mouth and the bread was so tough that I couldn't enjoy it. I hope these past bad experiences are due to the corona virus and not Pete's new path. read more

I've ordered delivery a few times from Pete's in the past few weeks. The menu popped up outside my apartment so I wanted to try some local takeout. I've only had a few items but they have been delicious! Pictured is the loaded tater tots which were amazing!! I also got the Greek chicken wrap, which was a bit dry so I had to add my own sauce. I've also gotten the gyro wrap with added feta which was so delicious! The fries there are amazing as well. My friend ordered a build your own pizza and loved it as well. I just had to stop eating to gather myself and leave this review. I ordered from Uber eats some cheese steaks rolls which were a great price and buy one get one free, and I ordered a small Buffalo chicken pizza. Now I must say everytime I order in my city from someplace I've never ate from I pray my food is good before it comes lol. Can I say this is literally maybe the only place I've come across with the BEST BUFFALO CHICKEN PIZZA ever. I'm mad I got a small I've already devoured half of it lol but definitely will be a regular ordering from here from now on. The cheesesteak rolls inside are delicious but I was just a little disappointed the roll itself wasn't fried crispy so when they were delivered they were a little soggy but still yummy so I'll throw them in the air fryer to fix that issue.
