Terrible customer service. We have been going here for idk 5 plus years and this place has been awesome and the food was amazing. But having a cashier on FaceTime and not acknowledging me in front of him is so disrespectful and then after waiting 20plus minutes for my food. One of the workers ask for my name and tells me the food has been sitting here ready to go. Why did no one call my name whenever the food was ready to go? I can't believe I'm just now getting to this review! We frequented Texadelphia quite a few times while on a travel nurse assignment in Austin. This place whips up a mean Philly cheesesteak!! Love it! Huge salads! Love the fried pickles! And best of all? A freaking free self serve/soft serve ice cream cone for purchasing anything on the menu. Love it! They're always quick, reasonable pricing, and have a friendly service staff. The place looks way nicer on the inside, than on the outside. They have a private parking lot, which is always appreciated in Austin :) read more

So first off let me start off by saying the cashiers here suck! Well at least the dufus I had. They clearly have a Texas cheese steak special in the front that comes with waffle fries and cheese to dip them with to go along with your jalapeño drenched Texas steak but telling them you want exactly what's on the special doesn't seem to register to them... So I had to hand pick exactly what was on the picture promoting this special to this kid. Maybe he was new? Who knows but come on man learn your menu if you're working there... I've never had a Philly cheese steak from Philly so I obviously can't compare them but for what it's worth I enjoyed my food. The mustard they use here is so damn good! Went with a 4 because the customer service was a 4.5 and the food was a 3.5. Manager was very nice, gave me extra sauce and upgraded my Togo drink to a large for free. If the meal stopped there I would've given them a 5. The food tasted fine. Nothing absolutely amazing but it was more than enough to satisfy me. However, they forgot the cheese on my cheesesteak. Kind if a big deal. I was ultimately eating a steak sandwich. If I stayed at the store I'm sure they would've corrected my order but unfortunately I had to eat a pretty dry sandwich. Love the food, review is for the service of the guy at cash register at about 7:00pm today. Been coming to this location for years and have never been charged extra for sauces on a to-go order (probably because their is a free sauce bar inside where guests can help themselves as they wish). So the guy today tells me they have to charge for anything over two. After arguing with him for a minute about when that became a policy since their is a free sauce bar, I just agreed to pay. I asked for five mustards and four ranches. Charged me 81 cents lol. Get my order home and I have zero ranches and a cheese whiz sauce is also missing from my original order (comes with the sandwich). In a normal situation, I would just chalk this up to people making mistakes. But since he decided to make an issue out of something stupid, charge me for it, then fail to even provide what I paid for...screw this place. read more

Every time I come at lunch the place is clean, employees are friendly and the cheesesteaks are cooked just right. The regular cheesesteak is nothing special but I order it without cheese and order two small sides of chili con queso and smother the cheesesteak with the queso and it really hits the spot. read more

I was so excited to see a Texadelphia in the strip mall where the friend I was with had an errand to run. I used to eat at the location on the Drag when I was a student at UT in the 80's. It's probably been 20 years since I ate at a Texadelphia and I was so looking forward to it. We arrived at 11:55 on a Saturday. They were closed. A sign on the door said they would open at noon. Noon came and went, and they finally opened the door but said they had no cashier, so we would have to order online. Fine. Went to the "order on-line" button on the website, which asks for a zip code. Asked the kid at the counter for the zip code. "Zip code?", he says. Finally find and enter the zip code, and up pops a box that says "no times available at this location." At that point we gave up and went somewhere else. Pathetic. read more

This was once my favorite sandwich place. However the 3-4 times I've been there it has been BAD. Dry cold bread, meat that was questionable and the cheese wasnt even hot enough to melt it. First timer here and I had The Texacan with chicken great sandwich. bread was very soft, chicken thinly shredded, and onions were grilled perfectly. I ordered regular fries and they were delicious as well. My food was very fresh and hot and I even got a side of queso. Great service and very clean restaurant. The young man working (Ruben) was very attentive to the entire place and was making sure everything was fully stocked up and cleaned. It seemed busy but we ordered had some FREE soft serve ice cream and the food was out within 10 minutes! Good food lots of options to choose from. I definitely will be back! read more

To start off the cashier was nice and took my order correctly because he read it back to me but once that was over everything went down hill.. I ordered the cheese fries with no jalapeños because I'm allergic but they still brought my order with them on there so I kindly notified the manager I can't eat jalapeños and it took it back and I watched them simply scrape the jalapeños off and return the basket to me... THAT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING. I also ordered a cheesesteak sandwich that I had to pay extra for everything I added to the build your own only for them to bring me a sandwich with literally nothing I ordered on it... it was a plain dry sandwich with onions on it nowhere remotely close to what I ordered AND it took them 20 minutes to bring it out with 4 people that ordered after me getting their food first! At first, every meal looked very appetizing, but the food just wasn't worth 5 stars. I got the "left coast" and it just wasn't hitting the spot. The bread got soggy after a while and the chicken wasn't as expected. It was unappetizing texture. Then, they only had unsweet tea available, which is very disappointing. I'm pretty qualified to review this place since I was born and raised in Philadelphia. And no, Pat's and Gino's are not quintessential philly cheese steaks, just the most famous due to some popular music videos. It's partly the natives' fault for taking out-of-towners to these locations because you have to see them (like you need to see the Art Museum steps --ala Rocky--). Texadelphia's one BIG downfall--no whiz. Whiz is what makes an authentic cheese steak. I would mention the bread, but there's not much you can do about that since shipping fresh bread over 2,000 miles would not be consumer friendly and may not even taste that great after the trip. Even if you don't like Whiz, you should just try it once. It's like going to Australia and not trying the Vegemite. But Texa is the first half of the name of this place so maybe just offering cheese steaks is the halfway mark they're willing to meet. Can I strike a star if they intentionally forgo the Whiz? Or is it too much to ask to just have it on hand for anyone who wants it? I believe that the only cheese option I had that was close to something I would get in Philly was mozz and I would NEVER get a cheese steak with mozzarella in Philly. I'd sooner choose provolone or even American--neither of which was on the menu. So my cheese steak with mozz and fried onions arrived. It admittedly hit the spot, but the spot was very big and this sandwich only hit a fraction of my giant spot. I also ordered curly fries to go. I got a bag of waffle fries. SO I went to Texadelphia for my lunch break a while ago with intentions of getting a cheesesteak. But as I walk in, I see the following " 1/2 appetizers & $2.00 Beer". I left like a ray of light just hit me at that very moment. So I look at their appetizers, and see Queso Fries. As soon as I saw it, this thread popped into my mind. Not bad for this kind of thing. Kinds reminds me of Quiznos which is all over California but with more of a jalapeno, hot sauce edge. Plus you get free chips and salsa with your sandwich. I have a regular cheese steak & my son had a chicken guacamole. We shared, they were both good but neither of us could finish regular, but the dogs do love a doggie bag. Having lived in Phila I may set the bar too high for what a cheese steak should be. That being said, the menu says that the proprietor is from Philadelphia. That is either untrue or he truly doesn't give a shit about making good steaks for the people of Texas. I don't mind that they offer Texas style steaks although; it seems on par with a Chinese restaurant serving egg rolls with queso. They have a build-your-own option and thats what I went with; trying to come as close to a real cheese steak as possible. Now, I don't expect to get an Amoroso roll in Texas, but in they areas that they can control, the message seems loud and clear. "We don't give a crap." The meat was flavorful but, very little of it. The grilled onions were undetectable as was the cheese. About the cheese, I'm glad they offer provolone, but what about the whiz? I love cheese whiz and provolone on my cheese steak. There should also be different sweet peppers, hot peppers and pickles available as condiments next to the ranch dressing and salsa. The final f-you was the tortilla chips they serve with it. Again, I understand that they want to add a Texas flair but, the chips were stale and looked like someone poured the bottom of a bag of week old chips on the basket. On the bright side, if the senior management ever decides to take some pride in what they are serving, it would be inexpensive to implement better quality, portion and option control. For now, I would compare these steaks to what I have eaten at Korean corner stores in Philadelphia. The only difference being the Koreans wouldn't have the balls to charge more than $4 for something like this. Cheese steaks are one of my favorite things in the world to eat. Cheap, quick, delicious and filling. I hope that someday Texadelphia can find that balance. The good people of Texas deserve it. read more

the prices are too high and the food is just a heartattack waiting to happen. the charming original location is now long gone, and the charm with it. They have all kinds of junk on the menu, clutter that's accrued through the years. But since I started going back in the 80s, I've stuck with the "philly cheesesteak" - sometimes extra meat and cheese, sometimes grilled onions, sometimes straight up. No cheezewhiz here, but real cheese. If it weren't for their weird and wonderful mustardy-mayo sauce, I'd probably opt for the superior product from Delaware Subs everytime (Delaware really does make a better one - and you can get delicious mix of spicy and sweet pickled peppers there, too). But that weird mustard sauce is super addictive and has kept me coming at least a couple of times a year for decades. And despite the old-timer kvetching, I gotta say the service has generally remained at worst serviceable, usually warm and cheerful, and often wonderful. read more

Had lunch there today. I've been here at least a dozen times. I went to UT, and had many meals at the location on the drag. I once loved this place. I think the food has gone downhill. The fries were extremely greasy. The sandwich was a little over-cooked. The cheese fries are a must if you are in a group, if not just add queso to your order and get the waffle fries and its the same thing. Not the best and not the worst, just OK. I went in the other day for a late lunch. The place was pretty empty. The person at the front counter was amiable enough. After placing my order went to find a table. All the tables needed a wiping so I got a napkin and wiped down my own table. When the cheesesteak came it was OK. Not especially flavorful without drenching in some type of sauce. The bread got so wet halfway through that it fell apart in my hands (kind of negates what a sandwich is supposed to be all about).
