Southside Shrimp sub hollandaise sauce for bacon, tomato cream sauce.
    Miriam F.

We had a fantastic meal at Texas Bistro! I ordered the Southside Shrimp and substituted the hollandaise sauce for the tomato bacon cream sauce that normally comes on the shrimp and grits. It was absolutely delicious! The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the tomato bacon cream sauce added incredible flavor that tied the whole dish together. My husband ordered the burger and thoroughly enjoyed it--unfortunately, he ate it so quickly that I didn't even get a chance to take a picture! That's probably the best compliment a burger can get. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service was friendly and attentive, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere made for a great dining experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will definitely be back and look forward to trying more items on the menu. Highly recommend Texas Bistro if you're looking for great food and excellent service in New Braunfels!

What an awesome little gem that the locals gate keep, for good reason. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We chose to sit on the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our service was prompt and friendly. The pecan crusted chicken with apricot glaze hit the spot. The potatoes and green beans were a nice accompaniment. While there is an extensive drink menu you stuck with water and iced tea. I absolutely recommend this little bistro. We will be back.

If you're craving classic country fare, Texas Bistro is your spot. Think chicken fried pork chops, burgers, fries, pecan crusted chicken, mashed potatoes, pecan pie... you get the idea. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is cozy and the Texas theme is carried throughout with wrought-iron art, hill country paintings, and exposed concrete floors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is solid, friendly and engaged. Be sure to ask for Desiree. Cheers!

    Caesar Salad (w/out parmesan cheese)

Our son and daughter-in-law took us here for dinner. Wow - what a great place. Claire was our server - she was probably one of the top five servers we have ever had - personable; knowledgeable about the menu; her recommendations were spot on and the reasons for her recommendations. We're spot on. She was attentive (but not overly so) and made sure our beverages stayed filled. Top notch service. For appetizers we tried the Chips and Salsa which was Mango, Avocado, Jalapeño, Grapefruit Vinaigrette, Cucumber & Tortilla Chips. When I had my first bite I wasn't sure. By the third, I was hooked - it had a great (and different) flavor that quickly has you wanting more. We also tried the Bistro Poppers which are Shredded Duck, Bacon, Peppers, Mixed Cheese & Sweet Onion Glaze. They were the shape of a cucumber slice and deep fried. The sweet onion glaze made them perfect! We also tried the Bistro Salad (we order the small size) which was: Fresh Greens, Roasted Corn, Pickled Onions, Cucumber, Feta & Tomatoes with a Lemon-Herb Vinaigrette. Very tasty. We also tried the Caesar Salad which was: Romaine Lettuce, House Dressing, Parmesan, Pico & Croutons (my son opted out of the Parmesan). It was great - the pico was amazing - something I've never had on a Caesar Salad but which was really good. We also tried the soup of the day (opted for small size) which was a creamy jalapeño soup with pork. It was probably one of the three best soups I have eaten. The flavor was superb and the texture smooth and creamy. My only regret was ordering the small serving instead of the large! For dinner two of us had the Blackened Salmon which was: Poblano Vinaigrette, Cilantro Lime Rice & Seasonal Veggies. The Salmon was perfect. Crisp and blackened on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. I love Salmon but too many restaurants overcook it A this was perfect. I had the roasted jalapeño cream sauce and it was great. The veggies were squash and zucchini and again, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Fresh and flavorful. I'm not a big rice guy but the Cilantro Lime Rice actually had a very good flavor. We also tried the Stuffed Poblano which came with: Stewed Potatoes, Roasted Corn, Zucchini & Black Beans. Topped with Mixed Cheese & a Roasted Jalapeño Cream Sauce. Served over Cilantro Lime Rice - we also added chicken for a protein. The flavors blended together so well - it was also very good. Finally, we tried the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Breast which came with Roasted Jalapeño Cream, Charred Poblano Mashed Potatoes & Creamed Corn. The chicken was prepared perfectly. The buttermilk fried coating was crispy and not greasy. The creamed corn was very good - it was a bit different than 'traditional' cream corn when it came to the flavor, but it was really good. For dessert, we had the crème brûlée - it was wonderful. The sugar was perfectly caramelized - crunch but not burned - very smooth and creamy. It's made on-site. We also tried the strawberry cheesecake. It wasn't bad but it was probably the least favorite of the entire meal. Again - not bad by any means but nothing spectacular. Finally we tried the strawberry cake which also had strawberry filling and a strawberry cream frosting. It was also very good. We will definitely go back - they change the menu all the time. The food is very fresh and flavorful and it's obvious that great attention is paid to the flavors. If all of the servers are of the same quality as Claire, then the service will always be top notch. This hidden gem as awesome - try them out!

I've been a regular patron here for about 3.5 years. We almost always sit at the bar whether or not we're having dinner. There are many choices on the menu and you can never go wrong with the jalapeño bacon burger. The strawberry fields salad is one of my favorite items. Great Happy Hour from 3 to 6. Service is wonderful at the bar and at table service.

    Special of the day.

Always 5 star, Nearly every day! Salads are epic, as is the personal service. Love the strawberry Fields salad with grilled chicken.

Only picture I took but let it be the one to bring you here !! SO SO SO GOOD! I did not leave a crumb of anything because it was so good! This was their Pecan Crusted Chicken, it came with veggies and potatoes wedges and they were melting in my mouth. I also ordered a Mexican martini which was so good too and when I asked for extra olives they did not disappoint. The server was very kind and attentive and the food came out at a perfect temperature and tasted amazing once again. Very cozy family vibes and definitely a place to check out !

Random stop when looking for outdoor dining. Unfortunately everyone else was too so had to dine indoors. Place was nice, clean, friendly staff, not overly loud or crowded. Food was delicious. Did not take long to come out. Everything was flavorful and hot. Recommend if in the area. All dishes pictured were delicious. The artichoke spinach dip is more cream cheese but still tasty.

Because of that, I've recently found myself searching for family-friendly restaurants with large outdoor areas. The outdoor area is large and spacious, and the overall atmosphere is very family-friendly. It has a relaxed vibe that feels just right for families with young children. One small observation: I do wish some parents paid a little more attention to their kids. It had recently rained, and a boy was throwing rocks into a puddle, causing water and mud to splash onto my husband's back. We politely asked him to stop, but he continued, and we couldn't spot a parent nearby. As for the food, it was served quickly, arrived hot, and tasted great. No complaints there. My husband also appreciated the simple and efficient ordering process. Overall, this is a great spot to grab a bite to eat, enjoy a cold beer, and relax in a family-friendly environment. We had plans to get dinner elsewhere. The food was pretty good and fried to the right amount...but our order took over 30 minutes to make. We had to visit the gals at the truck a few times to ask them if our order was done, or if we were forgotten. The sweet gal taking the orders also said that they would bring it out when it was ready, but we waited a solid 30 minutes and decided to ask. I think they just forgot our order of chips and queso and fried pickles. Besides that, the experience was great. Their chips are great (I love the thicker tortilla chips!) and have a more solid crunch to them. The queso is on the lighter and thinner consistency side, which is always a refreshing texture. They definitely use a lighter cheese instead of a dark cheddar, as shown through the color of the queso. It's got a great flavor to it too without having any extra add-ins. A nice traditional queso! The fried pickles were average, but my bf is obsessed with pickles...so that was his impulse buy. Not sure if I would say this is a steady food truck that I would come back to outside of the brewery, but I'm glad it's at Guadalupe! Good choice for snacks and probably their po boys!

And they are always so crispy - I assume they change the fryer oil frequently or they must clean it really well. I have a bone to pick with their chicken fried steak. In the land of great CFS, they shouldn't serve one that had been in the freezer a few moments earlier. In this part of the country, it's hand-breaded or nothing. Having said that, it's not bad, just not as good as it could or should be. Their club sandwich reminds me of one my grandmother used to make for me when I was a kid - perfectly toasted bread and no scrimping on the meat and cheese. Longhorn Café is more or less high quality fast food, but don't expect super quick service. Sometimes it can take 10 minutes for your order to come out.
