Cute little spot, not too far off i35, and SO good! The menu covered every craving and made it hard to choose one thing! We started with the cranberry mule and it was just the right amount of tart, with strong ginger flavor (but not overpowering). We had bistro salads, which were light, very fresh, and super flavorful despite their simplicity. The stuffed poblano was the star of the meal and made me sad that we don't live closer! it was light and fresh and full of veggies and chicken (we added) with a savory cilantro jalepeno sauce and just a touch of melted cheese. It was one of the best veggie forward dishes I have ever had! We also had the shrimp tacos on homemade tortillas that were also epic! The burgers flying by us smelled like heaven, and tables near by had orders from all over the menu, which tells me they do most (or all) things very well! I don't love that far form here so this is definitely one of my go to spot, just sometimes hostess would place people accordingly. Other than that I have no complaints the food is amazing. The atmosphere is Homie and the staff is just amazing no matter who you have. I would definitely recommend the specials as my husband gets them all the time despite what they are. Love this place. Had the duck poppers appetizer and it was amazingly good. I like the ambiance and have never really had a bad meal and we come here pretty frequently. We went here tonight after looking at the reviews and have chicken fried pork chop and pecan chicken with green beans and potatoes on both. The food was excellent service fast attentive and friendly. New Years Eve dinner was at the Texas Bistro and to say I was pleased would be a gross understatement! They were offering a three course meal for $50 per person. A very fair price. My wife and I started with cocktails and ordered our first course (6 different choices). Wife started with bruschetta, a beautiful combination of cherry tomatoes, goat cheese and balsamic vinegar reduction. A twist on a caprese salad if sorts. Very good with the sour of goat cheese, acid of the tomato with the sweet of the balsamic reduction. I had the mushroom risotto fritter. Balled risotto, breaded and deep fried served on pesto cream sauce. The pesto was marvelous by itself but when you dip the risotto ball in to it was a flavor and texture bomb. Six choices for course two to pick from. My wife chose beef short rib saltimbocca with a marsala sauce. Deep rich flavor from being slow cooked and the meat fell off the bone. Gnocchi and green bean done to perfection. Myself, i ordered pepper crusted filet. I ordered mid rare and steak was cooked to perfection. The pepper crust was hard seemed and wonderful. Jalapeño bacon mac n cheese was creamy but could used more heat (very surprising since I don't like spicy) Desert came (4 choices) we opted from creme brulee and turtle cheesecake. Wife and I went o Texas Bistro last night for dinner. We walked in and were seated immediately at 7:30. Every aspect of the meal and service were excellent. Sharlene (don't know if I spelled it correctly) was efficient and helpful. We started with a few drinks. I had a a Bulleit old fashioned ($11) and she had a ranch water ($9). We decided to split a small Bistro Salad ($6) for an appetizer and it was so good. My wife went with the stuffed poblano with chorizo ($17). It was little heavy on the potato in the filling but otherwise excellent. I had the Bistro Pasta ($15) and added lump crab ($10). It was one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Had brunch on Sunday and the food was delicious! Service was great and the patio dog friendly! This is the first restaurant we have found in the area that met all our wants for chef prepared food in a nice casual setting. Not inexpensive, but totally worth the price. We will be back! 1.5/5 Service was poor. Sure, they were packed. Not a good enough excuse. Now, if I felt like it, I could definitely go on about the precise details of how to deal with such a situation. Which does not include neglecting customers or making them feel dismissed and little. Even when seated, had to flag waiters town for drink refills and took almost an hour for dinner to come out. Food was alright. Maybe slightly biased by being hangry but I can specifically point out that the steak was chewy as well as under seasoned. Undocumented, brussel sprouts were pretty good, but that could not begin to make up for everything else. See captions for further comments on food. Apologies for this short review, but two things can happen when I am totally underwhelmed by a place. I guess I can hate it with a passion and then I will feel obligated to express why and how I came to that heightened emotional state. Finally got to go to Texas Bistro for date night. No wait for patio seating, 30-45mins wait inside. We chose to sit outside. It was a bit nippy but they had heaters so not a problem. Service from Ashley B was amazing. Friendly, helpful, funny, attentive without being intrusive. I tried Calico Jack. Cloyingly sweet but boozy. For our entrees, the hubby had the jalapeño-bacon burger with fries and I had the blackened salmon with cilantro lime rice and sautéed seasonal veggies, which in this case was zucchini. The burger was so good, it took me by surprise. Spicy from the jalapeños, moist and creamy from the roasted garlic aioli. The fries were crunchy and addictive. My salmon was perfectly cooked as well. It went so well with the rice and poblano vinaigrette. Don't be fooled by how simple the stir fried veggies as either because it was delicious.I have heard good things about their off menu rack of lamb but it was not available during our visit. I was told to call and check after the New Year. We left happy and satisfied. There are a couple items I'm eyeing from the menu so we HAVE to come back. Texas Bistro is in demand for a reason so I suggest making a reservation. They also offer military discount which is very much appreciated. read more

We stopped by Texas Bistro for dinner on a recent Saturday after concluding some business in town.  The restaurant is a small place, but very airy and cheerfully decorated.  The "Texas" theme is everywhere, and fun!  The restaurant had a crab cake special that evening, so we started there.  OMG!  What a huge plate of food.  Monster crab cakes, 99% crab, very little filler, on top of boiled/smashed/fried whole potatoes, on top of pureed zucchini.  Darn good!  Perfectly seasoned, served nice and hot!  Based on platers we saw being delivered to other tables, and our waitress recommendation, we tried the stuffed poblano pepper next ... Crazy Good!  The pepper is stuffed with potatoes, corn, zucchini and black beans, and we added shrimp.  Topped with melted cheese and sitting in a roasted jalapeno cream sauce, served over cilantro seasoned rice, the stuffed poblano is very worthy of its reputation as a crowd favorite.  They split the dish for us to share, no charge, which is always nice. We had a glass of white wine with dinner ... the wine list, while not exhaustive, has a decent variety of varietals, very reasonably priced.  We had a 5 star dinner at Texas Bistro, and will definitely stop again by when we're in the neighborhood.  Easily, one of the top restaurants in the New Braunfels, TX area! read more

TLDR; STOP HERE FOR THE PECAN CRUSTED BRIE We randomly landed here after leaving the Float In pumpkin patch. The menu was Americana with Texas flare. The standout dish for us was the Pecan Crusted Brie! It was a take on Brie that I've never experienced and would love to have again. I would probably get two orders and have that as my meal honestly. The only reason why it loses two stars for me is the main entree. We ordered the Jalapeño Burger and it was such a let down. It had no crunch it was soft bread with soft meat and soft cream cheese (we added guacamole which added to the softness). The chef gave it no other texture. Which made it feel like you were eating hamburger baby food. It was also wildly over salted to the point where I couldn't finish the rest of my meal. I'd come back for sure for the Brie and maybe explore some other items on the menu if I were ever in the area again. read more

It was my birthday and my wife and I were deciding where to go for lunch after church service. Currently staying in New Braunfels, we thought about a few places close to the main plaza as well as a couple of good restaurants in Gruene, until my Yelp search for a place suitable for birthday dinners turned up Texas Bistro. Open for about 7 months, this unassuming place is located in the Park View strip mall along Seguin Ave. east of I-35. Decor was mainly "modern farmhousey" and there was ample indoor and outdoor seating. Upon entering, a chalkboard with the day's specials were posted. This being a Sunday, their hours were limited to 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and the menu leaning towards more brunch offerings. Nevertheless, we ordered the Roasted Corn Dip with Tortilla chips...that dip was yummy! For our entrees, my wife ordered the Pecan Crusted Chicken with Apricot Glaze and served over Crisp Potatoes. She really liked that apricot glaze on the chicken, adding a certain sweetness to the dish. I ordered the Tortilla Crusted Pork Loin served with Green Chile-Bacon Cream Sauce over the same crisp potatoes (like boiled new potatoes that were smushed then finished over a skillet to crisp it up). My dish came with a salad but I asked if I could switch it to the soup of the day, the Artichoke Parmesan soup. Our server, Hannah, thought there wouldn't be a problem switching the soup for the salad. The pork loin and the potatoes were good but thought the soup was meh. I thought the parmesan overpowered the artichoke and I could only finish maybe a couple spoonfuls of soup before I set it aside. When our server came back towards the end of our meal, she noticed I barely touched the soup but destroyed everything else. That's when I told her I didn't really care for the soup and wished I had the salad instead. Imagine my chagrin when we got our bill and saw there was a $1.50 upcharge for the soup. I would've preferred to be informed of the upcharge instead of finding out after the meal...especially soup that wasn't all that. All in all, a decent meal (artichoke Parmesan soup experience notwithstanding) for a birthday lunch. Lunch/brunch for 2 came out to just over $42. read more

I am vegetarian and they did not had much choice on menu but hostess was kind and recommended 2 dishes which they can do veg version. I had pasta it was delicious and portion was enough...not heavy but full. They had indoor and outdoor seating we choose to sit outside. Wow. How did it take me this long to find this spot. Very close to my office and super easy to get to. The little business park it is in seems to be pretty new so there's plenty of parking as they build out stores. Inside is stylish but comfortable. Easily a place that I'd take a date to. We sat at a 4 top that was a bit crowded, but it was a light lunch crowd and no problemo. The waitress was very attentive, but almost blew the meal. She started off with the order without writing anything down. That always worries you that your order isn't coming back right. So she repeats it and flubs the whole thing. At that point, I'm thinking she should just right it down. I'm not ever impressed with the memorization process - just anxious that it will fall apart. Eventually she got it straight, but missed my friend's request to take something off his sandwich. No problem because he just took it off, but it underscored the hazards of her approach. I wonder how many meals were tortured worse than that. The food I received was sterling. I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos and they were awesome. Very tasty, nice mix of ingredients with just a slight kick. It came with a side of black beans which I usually like. Unless you are a chili head, you won't like these. They were WAY too spicy. I'm good with some heat, but this is just one of those things that has a standard recipe / approach that the chef decided to just spice up. In a bistro without warning, that just seemed odd. I went with a group of friends for a birthday lunch. There was another large table there at the same time, and the place was full. Our server did a fantastic job and our food came out hot and reasonably quick. (We were chatting, so we're happy not to be too rushed). We started with a spinach, artichoke dip to share. It was very good. I especially liked the sundried tomatoes in it. I had a southwest beef & veggie soup (the special) and strawberry fields salad. The soup was thick and very tasty. It didn't have a lot of beef in it, but there was a definite beefy flavor and a nice amount of southwest flavor. I would have skipped the tortilla chips had I known they were added - but they didn't detract much. (My personal preference is no chips in my soup.). The salad was also good. It had more spinach than arugula- and light on dressing- which was perfect for me. Just the right amount of strawberries. We had a great time and are planning to return to try happy hour. read more

When the gal said "Do you want to eat outside because that's you're only option if you want to eat." Um ok, if it's our only option (wasn't even offered an opportunity to wait on a table). I honestly would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't for the kids in one of the tables running around all the tables and even hitting me with a jacket at one point (not blaming the kids but the parents, since they were in conversation kind of watching them). The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean as can be (brand-new at the time of my review) and the wait staff was on point. We tried the pecan crusted chicken, the hamburger and the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. All of those were very delicious and the portions were fairly large with that said I do feel that the price for each was a tad high. The only other critique I would make would be that the menu is extremely small which is not necessarily a bad thing but I do wish they had a few more options or maybe some kind of daily specials. At the time of this review I have only dined at Texas bistro once but I'm going to go ahead and recommend you give this place a try. Arrived promptly upon at 11:00 this Sunday am and joined the ranks of the small opening morning weekend mob. Promptly seated nonetheless. Our server Karri was flawless, never far when needed. Noteworthy spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer, but the real star of the show was the Bistro burger. Perfectly crafted with gooey cheese and grilled onions, surrounded by a beautifully toasted buttery fresh bun. Oh and if ya order one, please refrain from adding all those colored vegetables - totally unnecessary. Just bring along your Juice Plus capsules and be done with it.
