I have heard all of the hype about Texas Donuts and finally got around to checking it out. Wow. I was pleasantly surprised. They have cake and yeast doughnuts and they're both great. I was shocked that I loved the cinnamon sugar doughnut so much, but it was awesome. Simple and perfect. I love a good moist doughnut and these are moist and fresh. Don't be skeptical. They have plenty of selection and the price isn't too bad. Warm fresh coffee to go alongside your donut and other cooler drinks as well. What I'm raving about is the Croughnut!! On a passing whim, I decided to forgo Dunkin Donuts, and check this place out. I was not disappointed! The donuts were FANTASTIC, and melted in my mouth. I also got the ham, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich, which was super delicious as well. The facilities were clean, and the service was awesome as well. Great place! Opens really early, which is nice for those on-the-go days. They have this unique donut. It comes in glazed and chocolate iced. They're HUGE! Pretty good! Much better than the chains. Donuts are light and fluffy, not greasy at all. I thought the Long John could have used a bit more chocolate frosting - it only had a very thin layer. Next time I'll try it with an optional filling. The twist glaze was our favorite but we also tried a maple frosted and a cinnamon sugar. We went at 2pm on a Saturday and had no trouble getting a wide selection. Most of the donuts are yeast, which I love. Great service and prices too, we'll be back! read more

I was in here on 12-3-2017 for an after dinner dessert. I ordered one donut and it was BIG. I like to keep it simple with sweets, so I ordered a glazed donut. The place was quaint. Holy crap this place was awesome. Delicious egg and cheese on croissant and the specialty donuts are bomb. This is a great new addition to a rather paltry donut scene in Northern Virginia! I have nothing against the high end donut shops like Sugar Shack, Astro, or District Doughnut, but a lot of times I just love a delicious basic donut, typical of mom and pop donut shops. Texas Donuts does just that. Yeast raised are nice and light without over sweetness where the glazes overwhelm the dough part. The cake varieties have a nice crunch exterior and moist interior. There is not a bad donut in the bunch. This establishment is a high recommend if you crave an inexpensive and delicious treat! read more

Texas Donuts-- you are pretty close to perfection for me! Think Krispy Kreme but softer and less greasy. My daughter and I visited on a snow day to a completely empty shop. We bought three donuts, one for each of us and one for my husband. I can't bring myself to get anything except their original glazed- simple, soft, and satisfying. My daughter chose a strawberry sprinkle and we got a chocolate iced, custard filled for my husband; they do the filling right in front of you. All tasted so light and fresh. I scarfed mine in 30 seconds on the way home. Service is always very welcoming and friendly. The only downside is their coffee is pretty yucky. I would gladly pay premium pricing for a better product but I digress. Buy a donut here (or many if your metabolism can handle it) and zip over to CAFEIN (you'll likely finish the donut before you get there) for a perfect coffee to go with it. I like this place. I found out about this place from one of the Yelp newsletters. I have heard numerous people bragging about some donut shop being the best in town so I have made it a personal foodie mission to find out if what they are saying is true. So far I have had Duck Donuts, Fractured Prune, and Sugar Shack besides the well known national brands like Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' Donuts. I would put this closer to that top of that list. One thing I like about this place is the fact that they have mostly yeast donuts, which seems to not be a trendy with these newer donut shops. Once I went inside I received good, friendly service. One of the attendants explained how the donuts were priced, and all the different flavors they had. I must say for the quality, it was worth the money. My favorite donuts were the Frosted Red Velvet (which actually was a cake donut), the Oreo donut, and the Maple Bacon. This place is a keeper. I will definitely be back and I recommend anyone looking for a new donuts shop in the area to check it out. read more

I have passed this place several times when it was closed. I decided to finally stopped this morning to try it out. I wish I hadn't because they are so additive. The apple fritters are seriously the best I've ever had in Virginia. Really crisp on the outside and soft and great apple and cinnamon flavor. The yeast donuts are light, soft and pillowey. SO CRAVEABLE!! There were lots of people coming and going when I arrived and after I left. I will be making the trip back to try some of the other goodies they have. read more

Best doughnuts I've ever had. Better then Duck donuts and all chains I've tried! I love that the yeast doughnut is incredibly airy, light, not dense like you've likely always had and experienced. I didn't know they could taste like that. I love that they fill your doughnut on the spot with filling of your choosing. The cream they fill it with is out of this world!! I love my donuts and was a bit disappointed with Texas D's. Dough wasn't very flavorful or unique. It was kinda cool that they fill the donuts fresh before your eyes, but there was barely anything in there...like not even a tablespoon. If you like light 'n fluffy, these aren't as feathery as Krispy K's. If you like a little golden crunch, definitely not as good as Duck D's, which are my favorites so far. They're not as pricey as Astro D's, but they are rather pricey for what you get. I think people go for the Cronuts, but I go for the flavor and texture. So donut fans, my recommendation for the time being stays with VooDoo D's (Hey VooDoo, march eastward like Peet's!) and Duck...and my favorite independent donut bakeries back home. Have never been there to the store but tried them whenever a coworker brings donuts from here. The only donut place that comes close to matching these guys is Duck Donuts. Delicious donuts made fresh at the time of order. They have a million different toppings that you can add to your donut so you can make it just the way u like. This shop definitely has better donuts than any other franchise in the area. Dunkin is too sweet so Texas donuts is a better alternative.
