Was told I could not buy a dozen glazed donuts.There was three or four dozen donuts in the case????

I'm pretty disappointed today. My husband brings donuts every week, so I know what they should be like. This morning, I don't know if they're trying to save money, but my chocolate covered eclairs were put into a little brown paper bag (you'd use to pack a lunch) and stacked them on top of each other like they were cookies or something that wouldn't be ruined. I would equate this genius move to stacking cupcakes on each other. The frosting gets ruined!! As if that wasn't bad enough, they decided to cram ONE MORE donut in there of a totally different flavor. What do you think happened? Now, all 3 donuts were basically ruined. I've never seen a donut place give you donuts in a bag. All it says to me is you're wanting to pinch pennies. Quit being cheap and use boxes. As someone who is very picky about donuts (nothing can ever top Shoppers Grocery colossal donuts... Shoppers if you see this please come back), I was excited to give Texas Donuts a try. And while there's plenty to appreciate in this spot, for me personally, I wasn't blown away. First, the pros: - The staff was super friendly! Even though it is a small outpost and they were busy for a weekend morning, the line moved efficiently and the guys working the counter were sociable and pleasant. - The variety of flavors is very fun. I appreciate that they have both yeast-raised and cake donuts (even though I don't care for the latter). We tried the Texas-sized chocolate iced, cookies and cream, maple iced, coconut, chocolate peanut butter, and red velvet. However, while I appreciated the flavor options, the actual product itself didn't do much for me. They were enjoyable, but about on par with a Dunkin' donut (which is far less of a drive). My favorite was the C&C, while my mom preferred the PB; I ended up throwing away what was left of the red velvet, but again, that's more of a commentary on my distaste for cake donuts than the donut itself. So a cute, solid option for a fun donut fix, but nothing special taste wise overall. read more

Finally was able to try these and we ordered a dozen to celebrate my grams birthday. They have tons of options to choose. This place is very fast and busy so try and know what you want to order because they don't have patience to wait for you to decide. Went there today and the workers were super nice! The place was clean and they were very accommodating with the selection of anything was not presented that you may want to ask for. They can add additional frosting to the donuts of your choice for only 50 cents. My donut tasted fine and wasn't too pricey either. A lot of customers so very busy! read more

This place is the best. I go to the one in Lorton and the worker there is so helpful. She recommended the apple fritter and croughnut and they didn't disappoint. I also got four other donuts -maple bacon, Oreo cookie, sugar glazed and chocolate cake donut. All were amazing. I'm totally craving it now, but their hours are 5a-3p so they're now closed. Texas donuts is probably my only go to donut place in the DMV area, simply because I feel like their donuts are always so fresh. The employees here are so nice, and I think it may be Korean-owned, which is also great to be able to support. My favorite donuts are the maple bacon, original glazed, and looooove the Kolache which is their sausage wrapped in a buttery sweet dough with jalapeños and cheddar. So delicious. Since trying Texas Donuts, we've gone back almost every week. That's it. That's the review. No, but seriously, these donuts are absolutely delicious. We have tried a few flavors, but the cronut is our favorite as it is huge and melt in your mouth delicious. Service has always been quick and friendly. Loved it! Showed up right at 5am for the perfect temp, soft, sweet donuts. Feeling the warm sweet smell of fresh donuts makes anyone's sweet tooth go in overdrive. Had the Jalapeño kolache spicy was perfect and the warmth with melted cheese so worth it. The Texas size chocolate donut didn't disappoint one bit. If I could give this place less than one star I would . The Manager At this place was very rude on the phone , multiple times I tried to speak to her multiple times she talked over me and hung up completely to the point I had to call back around three times . This is very unfortunate because I have purchased donuts from this place and my sisters absolutely love this place but we will not be back any time soon. I saw the great reviews on this place, so I had to give it a try. Surprised my coworkers with a dozen of donuts this morning. What a delight for them and a great opportunity for me to try amazing donuts. I must say the donuts I tried were awesome! My coworkers enjoyed them as well. I had to share the location with everyone. My favorite was the maple bacon. It has the right balance of bacon pieces and maple glaze. Every donut was so soft. They have more menu items. I will visit again and try different donut flavors and some breakfast items. This location is very busy. There were people ahead of me and a steady of customers after me. I stopped by Texas Donuts to grab a quick morning treat for some family and decided to order a half-dozen donuts! The woman at the desk was very helpful and patient with me while I picked out my donuts, which I greatly appreciated as it can be overwhelming trying to only pick six! I ordered the Strawberry, Cinnamon Sugar, Chocolate, Vanilla Frosted, Cinnamon Roll, and Maple Long John with Bavarian filling. The Cinnamon Roll and Maple Long John were my favorites, and in my opinion, a must-try, especially with the Bavarian filing! Texas donuts is the place to go if you are a donut lover. These donuts are so fluffy and all of the different toppings are plentiful with rich flavors. I bought the maple bar donuts, chocolate cake donuts, and donut holes. The maple glaze was so rich and sweet, the chocolate cake donuts were this thick yet light cake with a decadent chocolate flavor along with the donut holes which were the fluffiest sweetest pieces on earth that just melted in my mouth. Drove 30 minutes to get a few donuts. I will drive to another location from now on. Asked to add chocolate frosting to a devils chocolate glazed donut and the girl at the counter said she had to ask her manager. The Asian manager told me NO she wouldn't do that. She said was done with them and would not add a swipe of chocolate frosting as I asked. Literally no customer service. I would have paid extra. Texas Donuts started making authentic southern-style doughnuts in 2002. It is a family-owned business that started in Texas and expanded into Oklahoma with a total of 7 shops. The shops were sold and the family moved to Northern Virginia. There are 3 shops in Virginia: Centreville, Manassas, and Lorton. This shop opened in August 2019. The shop is small with only one display case. However, that display case had 38 different flavors of doughnuts. Look carefully because there can be 2 flavors are in a single row. The shop was clean with no indoor or outdoor seating. It is carryout only. They required customers to wear masks. The workers were wearing masks. Service was relatively quick and cordial. You have to ask about which doughnuts are basic or specialty because the prices are different. The basic had white labels and the specialty had yellow labels. Specialty doughnuts are more expensive. Character doughnuts cost more than specialty doughnuts.    We bought a red velvet doughnut with cream cheese, 3 flavors of their Big Texas doughnuts, croughnuts, kolaches, Long Johns, character doughnuts, and Oreo Cookies & Cream doughnuts. The red velvet doughnut was a cake doughnut with a  mild sweetness. It was moist and surprisingly lighter and fluffier than a normal cake doughnut. The taste was a good blend of vanilla and cocoa. The cream cheese was mildly sweet and smooth in texture. The cream cheese flavor was mild also.    The Big Texas doughnuts were available in 3 flavors: strawberry, chocolate, and glazed. All of the doughnuts used the same dough. Frosting or glaze coating was added to make them different. The doughnuts were 7 inches in diameter. They were yeast (raised) doughnuts with a moderately light density. Like a denser Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut. They were quite moist. It was mildly sweet with a light vanilla flavor. The strawberry and chocolate frostings were mild in sweetness and flavor. The glazed doughnut had a sugar glaze just like Krispy Kreme's glaze. What a great surprise! It was very good!    Besides doughnuts, they serve croughnuts,  donut holes, croissant sandwiches, and kolaches. A croughnut is a croissant-doughnut hybrid. It was light and airy. The taste and texture were that of a mildly sweet doughnut-shaped croissant.    Their kolache is a sausage wrapped with yeast dough. You have a choice of cheddar cheese or jalapeño cheddar in the sausage. Technically, it is a Klobasnek, not a kolache. A kolache is a Czech version of a danish. Klobasnek and kolache use the same dough. That's how they're related. For some strange reason, people started calling it kolache and it stuck. Czechs in Texas will correct you if you call it that. We got both types of cheese. The cheeses had mild flavors. The jalapeño was very hot. The sausage was similar to kielbasa. It was small and savory with either cheese. The dough wrap was sweet like dough in danishes. A little less sugar would be better. It was enjoyable. A Long John is a rectangular-shaped doughnut with frosting. It can be filled or not filled. There were 5 flavors of filling for their Long Johns: lemon, raspberry, Bavarian, white creme, and strawberry. They were lightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The fillings we chose were lemon and Bavarian. They tasted like custard. The frosting on top was chocolate. They had maple frosting as a choice. Overall, they were thoroughly satisfying.    The character doughnuts were light and soft with a mild sweetness and vanilla flavor. There were 3 characters available: Elmo and Grover from Sesame Street and Magenta from Blue's Clues. Pretty good and amusing.    The Oreo Cookies & Cream doughnuts had a taste and texture like the character doughnuts except the frosting flavor was similar in taste to Oreo filling. The Oreo cookie on top was soft from moisture. This was the only part we didn't like.    The quality and consistency in taste and texture of their food have been excellent. If you're looking for a great doughnut shop, then this is the place to visit. read more

Freshly baked donuts and pastries going on in here. Make sure you come in EARLY to get your cronuts bc they sell out fast. I was told you can call ahead an order of cronuts to make sure you have some when you get there. There's no seating area to eat your donuts here but who doesn't love eating donuts straight out of the box in your car while you wait for traffic to subside? They have this HUGE Texas-sized donut that will feed about 8 people...it's very impressive when you see it in the display. And yes, fresh too. The staff is very quick to get your orders in and there's a minimum limit on card use, which I found I had no problem at all bc we left with almost 3 boxes full of donuts. read more
