On a whim, I decided to stop at Bruster's recently. There's a certain irony that Bruster's is right around the corner from my gym. I heard Bruster's before I saw Bruster's. They were piping out 80's alt-rock music (think 10,000 Maniacs) onto the street. Bruster's is strictly walk-up, no inside for customers. The ice cream menu is right above the order window, and espying Pistachio, I ordered from smiling friendly counter help a single scoop of Pistachio in a cup. My oh my, this was the best pistachio ice cream I've ever tucked away. This smooth ice cream had a pronounced pleasant pistachio flavor and plenty of pieces of pistachio as well. Ambience casual and 3 outdoor patio umbrella tables. Parking is street or grocery store parking lot at Wegemans and walk over to the order window. Sugar cones made daily, two oat milk flavored ice creams today was strawberry and choco mocha chip. I got both! Strawberries one tasted a bit tart and refreshing- I love that tartness - less sugar! The choco mocha chip was rich and creamy very sweet - I also liked-- if I had the choice of one scoop-- then probably strawberry next time. I'm on vacation so I don't have to Choose!! No indoor seating, you just order at the storefront (menu is above the window so you can see the flavors and toppings). They have outdoor seating, and the weather was gorgeous so we enjoyed our ice cream outside. There is a decent amount of rush, but line moves quickly. Only took a star off because other ice cream places serve you much faster, you really don't need to be waiting 15 min for a couple scoops of ice cream. They also mixed me and my sister's orders a little bit, as she asked for the chocolate coffee ice cream and I asked for cookie dough, but they were switched lol. Still delicious though! read more

The cherry chocolate chunk is amazing! Giant chocholate chuck an and giant real cherries in the ice cream too. The banana pudding is pretty good too, but I would add some chocolate too it, whether it be chocolate chips or hot fudge. Great ice cream, one of my favorites in the area. Scoop sizes just aren't consistent. Sometimes you'll get a large scoop and sometimes you'll get a tiny scoop about the size of a half dollar coin. Bruster's is a familiar name from my childhood, so I was happy to see that it's made its way down to Virginia. Consistently delicious ice cream and friendly service. Under 40 inches gets a free baby cone and dogs get a free pup cup! They didn't have one of our family favorites-chocolate raspberry truffle-but we still enjoyed, Oreo, mint chocolate chip, and chocolate peanut butter with buckeyes. We've been anticipating Bruster's opening for a few weeks now so we had to come on opening day. Service was pretty smooth and the options were plenty, including a vegan/non-dairy cookies n creme option (which was a nice surprise because usually you're stuck with plain chocolate or vanilla if you need/want a dairy alternative). I ended up trying that and it was nice! Softer than real ice cream but didn't have that weird flavor or aftertaste. Looking forward to trying many more flavors soon. Parking at the rear of the shopping center or at Wegmans is probably best as this area is always quite busy. They do have a few umbrella tables and benches right out front, and benches are generally scattered up and down the sidewalk on the street so there's plenty of space to sit and enjoy your treat! read more

Having grown up in Georgia, I am accustomed to visiting the Bruster's ice cream window. That being said, we were ecstatic when we learned that they were opening one half a mile from us (could be a problem!!). Waffle bowls and cones are delicious. Great mix of homemade traditional and creative ice cream flavors (any with the graham cracker swirl in it is a winner!). Favorite flavors presently being offered...Graham Central Station, Cotton Candy Explosion (kid favorite!), Coconut Cream Pie, Birthday Cake, and Caramel Apple Crunch. Check the app as they rotate flavors. They also sell their ice cream by the pint, quart and half gallon. We will be here often! read more

I thought I was being punked when I got my tiny scoop of ice cream. Mine was so minuscule, I asked the service person what size order was what she had in her hand. She indicated that it was a regular--the same as what I ordered. The guy next to her told me that he had given me a standard sized scoop, so I asked why that other one wasn't standard sized. He tried to act like he couldn't see the stark difference. The young lady said, she would have made those scoops I'd received larger and that the two scoops I'd purchased together in a single cup didn't amount to a single scoop. SO, the guy went to re-scoop. I wanted to tell them to forget about it and refund me, but I went along with the resolution, even though I was still swindled in comparison to the servings all the people around me seemed to have received. Poor service is an exhausting experience, and it drains the joy out of spontaneous treats. Guess I'll need to avoid this Bruster's. read more

Had never heard of this chain before it popped up near the Wegman's. Their BOGO coupons convinced me to give it a shot and I'm glad I did! The waffle cones were fresh, delicious, and handily housed two large scoops of ice cream (my preferred order). Flavors that stood out include: coffee, black cherry chocolate chunk (legit had sizable chunks of cherries buried in the ice cream), strawberry cheesecake, and butter pecan.
