Great selection and good customer service. It's hard to find Mexican bakeries in the area but Alexandria and Manassas never lets me down. This place is a true Pandaderia Mexicana. They have a great variety, conchas, orejas, bolillos, tres leches and more. I would definitely drive out to this location again.

Dang good. Ladyfriend and I stopped here on impulse on a Sunday morning. Glad we did. Really good baked goods, really good prices. Nice setup where you get a tray, put what you want on it, take it up checkout. Ladyfriend and I don't know squat about Mexican pastries so just randomly grabbed a few different things: the concha light and tasty and not overly sweet, a nice crunch to the coating; this molasses-y cookie was a delight, and biiiiig, pineapple filled empanada-like turnover also tasty. Definitely returning. Total bill under $10. Tip: they only accept cash, no plastic.

The bread is soft and good. The pastries they aight.

They only speak Spanish and CASH only accepted. I know this because I called speaking English and got hung up on until I called again and spoke Spanish. Very nice people but quick to turn to a blind ear if you speak English. I found that to be very off putting for others who may not speak Spanish. They do not have a sign above the Suite door. So when you get to the address look for the Suite F. Yes the place was clean and organized but it is a small space. Park in the parking lot and not in front of the store like others do. But if you see cars in front of the building in a line yes that is the store front entrance. They did not have my favorites: strawberry Concha, Niño Envuelto #fresh so sad .. ;(

Clockwise: Novia, vanilla concha, chocolate concha, nino envuelta

A true gem in Alexandria. We tried 6 different pastries. Chocolate concha Vanilla concha Novia Petate de leche Nino envuelta While both flavors of conchas that we tried were amazing, the tarta de elote was our group's favorite. It was a sweet corn bread and had a nice golden crust with sweet corn custardy texture in the middle and some cheese to help balance it. I believe the small older woman who helped me choose my sweet breads was the owner, and she had me also try the nino envuelta which was a slice of Swiss roll cake filled with a rich dulce de leche and was also very tasty. We tried everything for $9 dollars! I highly recommend making a trip to this bakery to try their conchas, tarta de elote and anything else that looks good to you!.

Do yourself a favor and come here. The bread tastes wonderful and I cannot express it enough. Everything tastes how I'd imagine a rainbow tastes like. The prices are affordable and the employees are very kind as well. I highly recommend conchas, chanchitos, and orejas. Amazing. Muchísimas gracias Panadería Mi Pueblo por buen servicio y el pan delicioso. Voy a volver muy seguido. Que tengan buen día! PS! They only accept cash!!! So either bring cash on you to make your life easier or use the ATM they have next to the register.

Located in a non descriptive brick stripmall near Woodlawn, the only thing that gave away the wonderful bakery inside was the line of cars near the door on an early weekend morning. Stepping inside the small space I was met with the wonderful smell of fresh bread. No inside dining and cash only but for around a dollar you can get a softball-size concha in vanilla or chocolate. Probably the best conchas I've had since Chicago. They had some other bread that looked good but no signs and as they were busy I didn't want to bother the staff. It's a good thing I live far away or I'd be there every day. Staff speaks Spanish and English for non Spanish speakers and are masked. Surprised this place isn't better known as it's probably the best Latino bakery in DC area. Will have to go back to try more.

Your friendly Mexican "critic" checking in here. I can't believe I found an authentic AND delicious Panaderia in the DMV before I found a Mexican restaurant with the same qualifications! My credentials, I mention this in every one of my Mexican establishment reviews and it's getting a little old, but I'm actually Mexican, I was born there and moved to Texas as a teenager. I lived in a border town for a while, then in central Texas up until 6 years ago, so Mexican food is one of my original food loves. I go around DC looking for Mexican joints and Panaderias when I can. My journey has taken me to many disappointing joints. Some are authentic but not good, some are neither. Panaderia y Pasteleria Mi Pueblo is a Unicorn I never thought I could find. The Pan Dulce is legit and the set up brought back childhood memories of grabbing my own bread and putting it on the plastic platter. The have everything, pan con mantequilla y azucar, conchas, cake slices like every good panaderia has, puerquitos, etc. I also tried their bolillos at a nearby Mexican restaurant which directed me here and they were next level. I can't get over the excitement of going back to buy fresh bolillos and make tortas at home. The fat kid in me is dancing.

Concha as big as my hand! Hella bomb!

Coming from the great state of California, growing up in a Mexican family, from a town where you need to be fluent in Spanish to read the signs and get around, and having some of the best, AUTHENTIC panaderias you can find; I have to say this place is great! I will might dare to say that their bolillos are even BETTER than some you may find in any Mexican panaderia in California. What really impressed me was their "Rosca de Reyes" (traditional for those who celebrate "El Dia de Los Reyes"). I mean for one, they have them, but only on that day. Secondly, they are made fresh. Lastly, the taste and texture...out of this world...WONDERFUL. Pair it off with some champurrado and you'll feel in Mexico. The service is excellent, everyone is always polite and greets you with a smile. I feel like I'm back at home every time I go. I absolutely love it here.

Delicate Hot Chocolate…read more I have long been an admirer of fine hot chocolate. Traditionally, I would visit Starbucks or a contemporary coffeehouse, only to receive what often felt like mocha syrup blended with steamed milk--pleasant, perhaps, but rarely memorable. This morning marked my first visit to Tatte Bakery & Café in Old Town Alexandria where the hot chocolate proved to be an unexpected delight. The associate explained that it was prepared with semisweet chocolate and warm milk. Intrigued, I ordered a small and chose to enjoy it outdoors. The price was refreshingly reasonable, while the bakery's bright interior and refined ambiance created an inviting first impression. My drink arrived within approximately five minutes, presented elegantly in a cup and saucer. The temperature was perfectly warm--comforting without being excessively hot--and the overall presentation was quietly sophisticated but has room for improvement. Then came the taste.... The texture was exceptionally silky and smooth, with no grainy residue, excessive sweetness, or bitter aftertaste. It was rich without being heavy and indulgent without becoming overwhelming. Even better, it left behind no awkward crown of foam. I have enjoyed hot chocolate in Sicily, where the experience was quite literally a cup of melted chocolate--decadent, dense, and almost dessert-like. Tatte's interpretation was more delicate and restrained, yet equally satisfying in its own way. Tatte has now earned first place in my personal ranking. There is, however, still an opportunity to elevate the service experience. A cloth napkin and small spoon presented alongside the drink would add a more polished touch, while a subtle soupçon of finely shaved chocolate would enhance both the visual presentation and the final sip. Overall, I award Tatte's hot chocolate an A-. I look forward to seeing whether it can achieve an even higher distinction upon my next visit.

When it's crowded you can barely hear your name. We stopped in the late afternoon and it was cool and empty. I had a delicious matcha latte and some lovely baked treat. Thanks a latte, Tatte!

The kind where one cookie can easily be shared (or not lol ). They're rich and sweet, so if you're someone who loves a heavy dessert that feels like a treat-treat, you'll be in heaven. Easily a 10/10 for that category. What really stood out to me was the variety of flavors. I tried the strawberry matcha cookie and was honestly surprised by how much I liked it. It had a really nice balance of flavors and didn't feel gimmicky at all. It's always a risk trying something a little different, but this one definitely paid off. Another thing I appreciated was that they had a section of cookies discounted because they were made the night before. I love when places do this...it's a great way to try more flavors without spending a lot, and honestly, the cookies were still really good. Service-wise, the cashier was super helpful and patient, especially when it came to explaining flavors and giving recommendations. That always makes a difference when you're staring at a case full of options and can't decide.

So Sunday morning, I pulled up to Ben'YaYs with the whole crew ready to see what the hype was about. When we walked in, there were already a few people inside, but it wasn't overwhelmingly busy. The young lady working the register was absolutely wonderful. She was patient, attentive, and even let my son take over the ordering process when he started telling her exactly what our family wanted. One thing I really appreciated was her recommendation when I started ordering multiple individual orders of beignets. She suggested that we get a box instead, which was actually the better deal and saved me some money. Listen, I love when somebody helps me spend less money without me having to ask! We went with a box of the original beignets plus two orders of the cinnamon sugar beignets. Since we got the box, we also got three dipping sauces. And if you have kids under 10, you already know that anything they can dip is automatically more exciting. Our order came out pretty quickly, and let me just say... THESE BEIGNETS WERE GOOD. Like, everybody was already talking about coming back before we had even finished eating. Four of the five people with me had never had a beignet before, so they had nothing to compare them to. But I've had beignets in New Orleans AND locally, and I can confidently say these held their own. Light, delicious, covered in that glorious powdered sugar, and the cinnamon sugar ones were a fun addition. The front area is on the smaller side, but thankfully there's a back seating area where you can actually sit down and enjoy your food. That made a big difference with my family. And let's talk parking because this is important! Street parking is pretty sparse, especially on a Sunday during church hours. Thankfully, there's paid parking behind the restaurant. I paid about $3, which was well worth not driving around the block 17 times looking for a spot. Would I come back? Absolutely. The kids are already asking when we're going again, and honestly, I'm not mad about it.
