I felt like a cartoon following the smell to the entrance, as soon as I parked and got out of the car I could smell the delicious breads from around the corner. The bakery is small, but it has a lot of offerings. I was pleasantly surprised to see that everything is freshly baked in the back, you can get a glimpse from the store. They definitely carry authentic Mexican bread such as conchas, bolillo, piloncillo cookies and pan de muerto in November, which is how I ended up here! Prices are reasonable and the bread is very tasty and authentic. Glad to have found this place! Only downside is that they only accept cash. read more

Dang good. Ladyfriend and I stopped here on impulse on a Sunday morning. Glad we did. Really good baked goods, really good prices. Nice setup where you get a tray, put what you want on it, take it up checkout. Ladyfriend and I don't know squat about Mexican pastries so just randomly grabbed a few different things: the concha light and tasty and not overly sweet, a nice crunch to the coating; this molasses-y cookie was a delight, and biiiiig, pineapple filled empanada-like turnover also tasty. I hate that I'm giving this place three stars. They're not bad at all. I loooooove their fresh conchas! Omg it makes a world of a difference when you eat it nice and warm and a bit gooey inside versus when it has cooled down. However, I didn't feel any way with the other baked goods that I bought. I got the palmier cookie, a tricolor cookie (with pink, idk what it's called), a caramel sandwich cookie with coconut flakes on the sides, and some type of cornbread. They were just okay. It's all about the conchas! I'm glad I read the reviews for this place because everyone kept talking about the conchas and they made me want to try one, and I'm so glad I did. I would definitely go back for more! The reason I'm giving this place three stars is because I like the baked goods at other bakeries way more. The only thing I really liked from here were the conchas. I'll try their other stuff someday, though. Hopefully I'll find something else that I like. read more

They only speak Spanish and CASH only accepted. I know this because I called speaking English and got hung up on until I called again and spoke Spanish. Very nice people but quick to turn to a blind ear if you speak English. I found that to be very off putting for others who may not speak Spanish. They do not have a sign above the Suite door. So when you get to the address look for the Suite F. Yes the place was clean and organized but it is a small space. Park in the parking lot and not in front of the store like others do. But if you see cars in front of the building in a line yes that is the store front entrance. They did not have my favorites: strawberry Concha, Niño Envuelto #fresh so sad .. ;( read more

A true gem in Alexandria. We tried 6 different pastries. Chocolate concha Vanilla concha Novia Petate de leche Nino envuelta While both flavors of conchas that we tried were amazing, the tarta de elote was our group's favorite. It was a sweet corn bread and had a nice golden crust with sweet corn custardy texture in the middle and some cheese to help balance it. I believe the small older woman who helped me choose my sweet breads was the owner, and she had me also try the nino envuelta which was a slice of Swiss roll cake filled with a rich dulce de leche and was also very tasty. We tried everything for $9 dollars! I highly recommend making a trip to this bakery to try their conchas, tarta de elote and anything else that looks good to you!. read more

Located in a non descriptive brick stripmall near Woodlawn, the only thing that gave away the wonderful bakery inside was the line of cars near the door on an early weekend morning. Stepping inside the small space I was met with the wonderful smell of fresh bread. No inside dining and cash only but for around a dollar you can get a softball-size concha in vanilla or chocolate. Probably the best conchas I've had since Chicago. They had some other bread that looked good but no signs and as they were busy I didn't want to bother the staff. It's a good thing I live far away or I'd be there every day. Staff speaks Spanish and English for non Spanish speakers and are masked. Surprised this place isn't better known as it's probably the best Latino bakery in DC area. Will have to go back to try more. read more

My husband loves their Conchas. Of the at-least 10 times we have come here, 8 of those we have gotten the conchas JUST out the oven, or the baker has said "3 more minutes and new batch finished". It is authentic Mexican. I don't use the words "Authentic Mexican" in conjunction often because most places around here are really Central American, but have to call themselves Mexican to attract certain groups. My credentials, I mention this in every one of my Mexican establishment reviews and it's getting a little old, but I'm actually Mexican, I was born there and moved to Texas as a teenager. I lived in a border town for a while, then in central Texas up until 6 years ago, so Mexican food is one of my original food loves. I go around DC looking for Mexican joints and Panaderias when I can. My journey has taken me to many disappointing joints. Some are authentic but not good, some are neither. Panaderia y Pasteleria Mi Pueblo is a Unicorn I never thought I could find. The Pan Dulce is legit and the set up brought back childhood memories of grabbing my own bread and putting it on the plastic platter. The have everything, pan con mantequilla y azucar, conchas, cake slices like every good panaderia has, puerquitos, etc. I also tried their bolillos at a nearby Mexican restaurant which directed me here and they were next level. I can't get over the excitement of going back to buy fresh bolillos and make tortas at home. The fat kid in me is dancing. read more

Coming from the great state of California, growing up in a Mexican family, from a town where you need to be fluent in Spanish to read the signs and get around, and having some of the best, AUTHENTIC panaderias you can find; I have to say this place is great! I will might dare to say that their bolillos are even BETTER than some you may find in any Mexican panaderia in California. What really impressed me was their "Rosca de Reyes" (traditional for those who celebrate "El Dia de Los Reyes"). I mean for one, they have them, but only on that day. Secondly, they are made fresh. Lastly, the taste and texture...out of this world...WONDERFUL. Pair it off with some champurrado and you'll feel in Mexico. So cute bakery is located in a quaint shopping center. Upon walking into the bakery there is a trail of flour on the pavement, fresh baked goods line the shelves within the glass displays. I didn't venture off to try any other delights because I was on a mission to try the 'tres leches' cake located in the refrigerator with the milk. First time trying the cake and it was very delicious very spongy, creamy, airy and sweeter with condensed cream cloaked with whipped cream icing. In between the two slices of cake was a thin layer of filling that reminded me of flan with a hint of coffee flavor. Very interesting, and the associate in the store was very nice! read more

Best authentic Mexican bread in this whole state possibly. Moved here from California and after living there my whole life, the transition over here was tough if not horrible. Almost nothing taste "authentic" or for that matter good. The ladies that work here are so nice and they even make an effort to keep a convo which has NEVER happened to me at a panadería. Everyone thinks I'm a different ethnicity or whatever so I was pleasantly surprised. Bread is always fresh and the conchas here are one of the best I've ever had. I got a concha from a nearby Mexican to compare the quality of conchas. OMG. The chocolate concha from this place definitely wins! You might argue that it's not fair to compare a plain concha with a chocolate concha, but I must say even the pan alone tastes way better! I agree this is the best concha I have ever tasted! (While I was in the store, a man came in and got half a dozen conchas!) I have also got a flan - the last one from the store. I went to two different Mexican bakeries and they all had plenty of flans left, so I know this bakery's flan must be good. I was right! THE BEST FLAN EVER! Just as good or even better than the ones I have tried in Argentina and Chile! The chef gave me a sanpkw pan leche (sweet bread.) I think it has corn and cheese in it. It is sweet, firm and has a hint of savory cheese. Really, really good. The chef has a limited facility in English, so I am going to bring my phone with me next time so that I can have her speak to the phone and have Google Translate to translate for me because I would like to know more about the bread here. This is the best Panaderia that I have found in all the Fairfax and surroundings. I have tried different Panaderías so I would not have to drive 1 Hr. And 15 minutes, and let me tell you, it is worth even 2 hrs drive. Every time that I go to visit my son In Mississippi Nave Station, it's a must for me to stop here, because I have to take with my The Bolillos or Virote and Las Orejonas, y Conchitas. Mi Pueblo is SO good! I've tried plenty of "panaderias" in the DMV area and this place has the best pastries around. At other places, the pastries all taste the same whether they are muffins, pan dulce, or turnovers which really annoys me. Not here! The cookies, pudin and conchas are delicious. They even gave me a piece of the Rosca de Reyes to try and it was good as well.They are SUPER clean and customer service is great. I got Conchas fresh out of the oven and warm. Got an assortment of delicious pastries/sweet "breads" here the other day and can't stop craving them long after they were devoured! It was the first time I'd been to a bakery like this: all the different breads, cake pieces, and cookies are in trays around the room, and you walk around putting the ones you want on a tray. I really liked three things: how friendly and helpful the woman at the counter was despite the fact that I knew nothing about her baked goods and don't speak much Spanish, how big the portions are for a really reasonable price, and the sweet bread with streusel topping that's not overly sweet like so many pastries. Next time I'm in the area I'll be sure to come back and stock up. read more

I went in here for the first time today. I grew up passing this place for years. I am surprised it took me so long to come in here. As soon as you walk in the door the smell of baked goods just entoxicate the air. They have the freshest pan dulce I have tried in this area. I got the conchas and the pan con mantequilla and they were soft and yummy. Just the way I love my bread. I wish I was here early enough to get some bolillos. Its okay. After moving out of the Mt Vernon area, anytime we find a reason to be back in town this is a MUST go to. Years ago the selection was predominantly authentic Mexican pastries and breads but today they've expanded their offering to include a broader range of donuts, cakes and cookies. The conchas are our favorite and likely best seller, but you literally cannot go wrong with a single item. Piping hot coffee, too. The staff are extremely pleasant and happy to take care of you. Drove almost 20 minutes to get there for nothing even though I had called ahead. Bad service.
