Loaded Baked Potato
Amy M.

Stopped by around 11:30 on a Friday and even though it was pretty crowded, we were seated pretty quickly. Our server was super friendly and helpful and very nice, which is always a plus in my book. I ordered a sirloin steak with baked potato and sweet potato (things I am generally too lazy to make at home, they take soooooo long to bake!) and the steak was done exactly how I wanted it, so the temp was perfect on mine. The sweet potato was great and my only complaint with the potato is that they apparently coat the skins with salt during the cooking process, so it is soooooo salty. I generally prefer to eat my potato skins and not only was it inedible, it also drops salt all into your potato so it gets way too salty too. I only wanted butter and sour cream on mine, but I could not imagine how much saltier it would be if I also opted for the cheese and bacon like my brother did. I'm not sure if you could even get the potato without the salt, so I would definitely just have to opt for something else next time. We split a cactus blossom between the three of us and it is huge and delicious. Four people could have comfortably shared it. Some of the petals closer to the interior can be a little underdone, with some of the batter still being wet, so I did eat around some of those parts, opting for the outer layers which crisp up much faster. I'd probably still order it again since it is still a pretty huge appetizer for the price, and it tastes pretty good. You can smell it cooking from the parking lot and it definitely made us want to order it. The decor is pretty classic patriotic and military inspired, which I obviously love since I am retired military myself. I do find it very comforting to be surrounded by murals of aircraft carriers and military bases and such. Might not be everybody's thing, but I much prefer it to taxidermy animals, which tends to be the other theme of steakhouses for some reason... Also, the rolls and butter are awesome. We will definitely be back when we are feeling carnivorous.

We had a part of 10. Excellent service, everything was correct, tasty, and served correctly. Bottomless rolls were epic and the food was excellent considering it being a huge party as well as a chain restaurant. Great location! I've been to a few underwhelming locations but this was not one of them.

Roadkill and over 3/4 still left on the plate! No thanks tooo salty

Service was ok. But don't bother complaining that your food is too salty because the server and the manager won't care! The server blatantly told us they get many complaints about the salt!! Then the server asked if I wanted a to go box---ummm NO IF IM NOT EATING IT HERE I WONT BE EATING IT AT HOME-it's too salty! The only other thing I have to complain about is the fact that the server didn't ask if I wanted a refill she stated would u like a to go cup?! Ummmm nothing like being pushed out! Definitely not going back! Knowing full well ur kitchen staff is heavy handed with the salt and doing nothing about it just makes sense to me right?!

Visiting the Battlefield- dropped in for some eats. This is a casual roadhouse that serves everything from steaks to burgers. The menu is quite large. I see it has a steakhouse as they offer a great selection of hand cut steaks. Burgers are huge !! They also offer seafood, chicken, and pork chops. Decor is mostly booths with very bright lights - the atmosphere is roadhouse - music playing and above average loudness. In the center is a bar area and there are some televisions. They offer complimentary roasted peanuts at the door if you have to wait. We were seated quickly. They give you a basket of fresh baked rolls and a house butter with sugar and cinnamon when seated. Service was very quick - above average overall. We ordered a basket of boneless wings for starters and a couple beverages- they always have great drink specials. The boneless wing basket was filled - nicely cooked and covered with a mild hot wing sauce - which I thought was a little spicy. They have Hot for those that want the extra kick. Fir the main course we order sirloin steak- which comes with 2 sides- we opted for baked potato and salad. They brought the salad first - it was nice sized and they have great choice of dressings. The steaks arrived with huge baked potato's. The steaks are seasoned so you probably do not need sauces but they do offer for those who like. One of our steaks was super good very tender - cooked to a perfect medium- the other not so much- was very chewy and little under cooked. I tried a few different slices but to no avail. I mentioned to the waitress- she quickly offered to have another prepared. I guess that happens - I think they handled it very well. We also had one of their Long Island Ice Teas - very good. All in all the food was very tasty - less the tough steak which they offered to replace and the service excellent. This place was casual and fun - the food and drinks are great. We will return. Check them out ! I hear the chicken fried steak is awesome!!

Food was good and service was quick. The waitress was nice and helped us with a debate we were having at the table.

In the middle of February, they had the air conditioning on! We had to change or leave. It was that cold. We changed tables, and it was tolerable. I still didn't feel warm enough to remove my coat until I was done eating. It is a loud restaurant. It is difficult to have a conversation with those you are dining with. A lot of yelling. The dining room was dirty. Service was good. The kitchen was fast. The food was okay, just okay. One of the things Texas Roadhouse boasts about is their fresh, hand cut steak. Based upon taste and texture, I would disagree. My steak had previously been frozen, not fresh. It's no better than a cheap steak at Applebee's. This is several times and multiple locations where I have low quality meals from Texas Roadhouse. Dining room cleanliness was an issue too. I am done with this chain.

There is a pretty small public parking lot directly across the street, and it was full, so I'm not 100% sure if we parked in the public parking or the parking lot of the glass shop next-door since there weren't really any signs. I really hate parking in the middle of any town, but it wasn't too bad. But I'm still not sure if we could've gotten a ticket or not. You seat yourself in this really awesome classic rock themed restaurant. The decor is great, a perfect mix of interesting things to look at, without being super claustrophobic-ly overwhelming. It is really cute. We took a minute to look over the menu, and decided on the house cut chips appetizer, and both a beef and chicken Shawarma for us to try both. The beef Shawarma was delicious. I really like the seasoning that they use on their meat or sauce or something. I never could place what it was or where it was, but the flavor is just heavenly. A little sweet, a little savory and delicious. The fresh pickled veggies were also amazing. They were still crisp with that snap that you really want with pickled foods. Chicken Shawarma was definitely my favorite since it had slightly different pickled vegetables. They were both good, but the chicken was definitely my favorite by just a touch. The bread was a little hard and chewy for my likings, it definitely stood up to the creamy sauce and the juicy pickled vegetables, but it almost hurt my teeth if you just had a dry spot that hadn't been soaking in some form of liquid. The house cut chips are just OK, nothing special by themselves, but that trio of dipping sauces was amazing. We were dipping our fries into it because we liked those a little better than the chips, but we ate almost every drop of that sauce trying to figure out which one was our favorite. one of the hot sauces is blueberry and very sweet with a mild spice, one is I think mango and not spicy initially, but when you swallowed, you definitely felt it burn in the back of your throat. It was a nice sneaky heat, which I love. And the third dipping sauce, we could not place, but we literally could not figure out which one we loved the most. They have a patio outside with lots of tables, but we did not go out there. It looks cute in the pictures though. The downside, is that while the service was very great, if you catch them out a bad time, they don't yet seem to be able to handle huge amounts of orders. They've only been open for about two months, I think, so that will come in time. It seems that they only have one guy cooking in the back, so we were unluckily there at the same time as a table of eight people. If we had all the time in the world, I could have sat and stared at the decor for ages. But unfortunately, if you are on a lunch break or have to be somewhere, they could potentially be so backed up it takes quite a while to actually get your food. It was a rare and random set of circumstances, and probably does not happen often, and she generously comped our chips which was not necessary but was very appreciated. The service here is absolutely top-notch. We will definitely be back for more of that delicious Shawarma. Definitely earlier in the day though, so we can sit as long as we want.

I found the chicken pita/wrap dry and bland. The burger way too large, overcooked and dry. I'll admit, I'm a saucy person and like lots of flavors and textures, which I didn't find in my couple of visits. The fried cauliflower was tasty, but wish the pitas accompanying them were warm, or at least not cold.

It is spacious with lots of natural light (if you eat during the day). We ended up being one of two tables because we came at an odd time. There was only one person working front of house, Melissa, and it looked like she was bartender, hostess and server while we were there. Despite that she did a great job. She was gracious, attentive and even pulled out my chair for me. She knew about the building's history and seemed to take genuine pride. So if that is an indication of what the service is like all the time then A++. Food was decent, not mind-blowing. But I thought the quality was there. Ingredients were fresh. Prices were high end for the area but reasonable for the preparation and presentation. Food was well prepared. My only real complaint is my fried okra kept sliding out of its batter. I ordered the smash burger, my husband had the salmon, and both were excellent. The kids ordered from the kids' menu--chicken tenders and a burger--and everything came with fries. We also ordered the sweet potato fries and those were a standout--definitely recommend them. Overall, it was a great stop during our trip with good food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. We really enjoyed our experience at Shirley's.
