LongHorn Steakhouse - Colonial Heights, VA $81.35 came and went with our satisfactory of the events that followed. I went to LongHorn Steakhouse today with my family. I was really in the mood for a good steak and had been going back and forth between Texas Roadhouse and LongHorn. Unfortunately, I feel like I made the wrong choice this time. We were seated fairly quickly. One small thing I noticed right away was that there were no crayons with the kids' menu. The kids' menu has areas for coloring and activities, and my daughter wanted to color, so we ended up using a pen. Not a huge deal, but something that could easily have been taken care of. Our waitress came over promptly and was very polite. She brought out the bread and got our drinks for us, and initially everything seemed to be going well. I ordered the Outlaw Ribeye with a sweet potato and salad. I specifically asked for my salad with only French dressing, but it came out loaded with the other toppings. I don't eat cheese, so I had to pick everything else out of the salad. Again, not a major issue, but it was another small miss on the order. Then the food arrived--my steak, my wife's burger, and my daughter's meal. The first few cuts of my ribeye were excellent. The cap was cooked to a nice medium and was seasoned well. Unfortunately, several cuts into the steak, I hit a section that was well done. At that point, I stopped eating the steak. I started eating my sweet potato while waiting and explained to our waitress that part of the steak was well done. She agreed and went to speak with someone. She came back shortly afterward and told me the replacement steak should be out in about five minutes. From the time I noticed the steak was improperly cooked until the replacement arrived was approximately 15-20 minutes, although it could have been a few minutes more or less. The replacement steak was cooked medium and was acceptable. However, by that point, my family was further along in their meals and I had already spent a considerable amount of time waiting for my food to be corrected. When our waitress asked if we wanted boxes, I said yes. She left, and it took another 5-8 minutes to get a few boxes. During that time, I saw her bring drinks to another table and take another order, which made the wait for something as simple as boxes a little frustrating. To be fair, my wife enjoyed her meal without any issues, and our waitress was polite throughout the experience. My daughter didn't really eat because she ended up falling asleep. Overall, I don't expect perfection every time I go out to eat. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What bothered me most was the combination of the steak being improperly cooked, the amount of time it took to replace it, and then the additional wait for boxes. The first part of my steak was actually very good, which made the experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, by the time everything was corrected, the meal just wasn't the experience I was hoping for when I chose LongHorn over Texas Roadhouse. Overall, the service was okay, the food was okay, and the environment was okay. No individual person is to blame for the flaws from today's events but a collective effort from everyone from top to bottom. I was really looking forward to this experience but instead was sent home with some food containers to warm up later. After reviewing other reviews I think some QC needs to happen, I understand they are probably working hard and short but the end product needs to reflect the type of business you are trying to run. read more

We came to this restaurant for my birthday. My husband and I came waited. The lady (white lady, blue shirt, blonde ponytail full figured) walked up to the hostess stand and asked how many? I told her 5 and a baby. She said ok it'll be a 20-25 minute wait. Asked me my name and phone number. She said we'll text you when your table is ready. We sit down to wait. While we are waiting a few other groups come in 2 sets of 3 and 2 sets of 5 or more. I noticed the last set of 5 got seated as well as the first set. So I went to ask her. How long is the wait. She said I told you your party had to be here before you get seated. Uh, no ma'am you did not. You asked me for my phone number and name. She then got louder and said I did tell you your party had to be here. I again repeat what I was told. My question is. If you asked me for my phone number to text when my table was ready and you have outside seating for waiting parties. Why didn't she say it and is it Longhorn policy for everyone to be inside to be seated? While i was talking to my sister still in waiting area she yelled from the hostess stand. I did tell you, you need the whole party here. My sister said you do not talk to my sister like that she wasn't talking to you. She said you can leave. We left. Mind you it was families outside waiting to be seated. I believe the lady said her party was 7 sitting outside. She was very unprofessional. Lognhorn needs to do better. It was embarrassing and made us look like Iike we were the problem i never got loud with her. read more

LongHorn use to be really good but the quality of the steak my last two visits has been awful. I ordered the ribeye like I always do but it was tough, thin and really lacked flavor. It tasted more like a sirloin or cheaper meat. Sent it back and the second steak was no better clearly they have changed. I went here for the first time for dinner inside and everything was amazing service food. It was all great. I ordered it to go. I go pick it up. I get back to my hotel. My potato smell smells burnt. The inside is so hard. I couldn't chunk it up to eat it plus, it was a very small potato compared to the last one I had from there the steak was good. The mushrooms, which were amazing the first time this time somebody added it to the seasoning and it was so hot I couldn't eat them. I don't know what it is about colonial Heights, but most of the places I have been in this town adds such a spice to their food that you can't even eat it! I had a weekday meeting with a few friends. We decided to check out Longhorn steakhouse says none of us had been to this location in a while. I was met at the counter by a wonderfully charming young lady, who greeted with the spirit of the holidays. Told her I was requesting a table for four and she quickly checked around for availability. Told me she would be right back and within a few minutes, she told me my table was ready. The place was festive and clean. It was decorated and the decor was very rustic The server came to the table and took my drink orders and offered some suggestions while I waited for the rest of my party to arrive. She was patient. She was kind and very attentive. I ordered some appetizers as I anticipated they would be at the table when my friends arrived. When my friends arrived, she quickly came and took their drink orders. She asked them if they were interested in any appetizers. They declined, but soon after the apps that I ordered earlier arrived at the table. Came back a few minutes to take our entrée orders. She was attentive to our varied requests and offered some suggestions to improve the experience. The food came out hot and fresh. I ordered the steak and some sides and they came out looking great. I was impressed how everything tasted. I would recommend coming back if you haven't been in a while. read more

Where to begin?? The dirty dishrag odor hits you as soon as get inside. As for the food, I ordered the Filet and Lobster with expectations that a "steakhouse" would provide a delicious steak. WRONG. Haven't been to a Longhorn for a while and had a small amount on a gift card so decided to take my wife for a late lunch date. I ordered off the special menu and had a medium well cheeseburger with no onions and broccoli as a side. My wife ordered the grilled salmon with broccoli on the side. Both meals were very good. The meals are always very good and hot. The service depends on who your server is. I was served today by a gentleman who had been there for a while, he is absolutely the slowest server in the house. He is easily distracted and forgetful . He checked on the table once on an hour. I will always ask going forward who is my server when seated and if it's him, I will move. 15 minute wait when the restaurant was DEAD. The server may have been having a bad day but the service was TERRIBLE. water left unattended, had to send back food because it was honestly inedible. The server THREW plastic silverware at us and then left we had to get up to ask another server for real silverware and they proceeded to say we need to talk to our server very rudely. Had a wonderful experience, the atmosphere is amazing, the service is fantastic, and the food was savory and delicious. Haley W was a great waitress who recommended the best food items. For future reference I recommend the BBQ sauce and the Lobster chowder as great complementary's to your meals. This is one of the places where you just need to ask what they have. read more

Oh how I would love to leave a great rating but based on customer service they are a 0/10. I am VERY disappointed at this location in Colonial Heights, VA. My sister and nephews were visiting from out of town. This location had an empty parking lot and we had hungry kids with us so we decided to stop. We went in and a few tables were occupied but hardly anyone was dining in. It was 5 of us but I asked for a table for 6 because my husband was getting off work and on his way. I always order his food if he is running behind so that he can eat when he gets there. We sat there for 20 mins and they refused to sit us because the last person wasn't there. I spoke with the manager and she said sorry that I feel the way they do but that's their rules and if i didn't like it, I could call back Monday and speak with the general manager because he is the one that makes up the rules. Not only were they rude but the professionalism was below what would be considered a standard. I'm not sure who promoted these people to be in position, especially the young woman with the attitude in the hostess position, but if there is a family, with hungry kids and everyone is there except one person, sit the family. Your restaurant is empty and it didn't make sense not to sit someone. But after reviewing this locations reviews online, it does make plenty of sense on why they were empty mid day on a Saturday. So we drove 2 mins away to outback and spent well over $200 because they didn't have a problem with seating us. We were able to celebrate my sisters birthday and feed our hungry children without an argument of why your establishment won't seat us. The manager there, a black woman with locs, said they are a high end establishment and they don't have enough tables to just sit people who have a party of 6. I ordered the porterhouse, and it reminded me of the Rustler / Sizzler steakhouse quality meat... sorta preceded meat that was somehow taken apart, out in a blender and glued back onto the bone. We came here on Veterans Day and our party of six was seated right away. We ordered our food and waited for about an hour before asking our waiter where our food was. She told us it was coming but went back and realized she never put our order in at all so she told us that our food would be taken care of. Another 30 mins went by and we asked for the manager and she told us the same thing, they would take care of our bill and we could get a dessert. When our food finally came, my ribeye was cooked exactly how I asked and my baked potato was delicious. I didn't enjoy the appetizer bread too much. They changed the type of bread they use to have. I was really looking forward to having my birthday dinner here. We ordered our food online for take out and what a disaster!! The forgot one of our Mac and cheese.. which remind you is a $3 up charge.. so my poor husband basically paid $30 for a steak and mashed potatoes because of that. When I called they asked if I wanted to come back to get it by then we were already almost half way home... they put me on hold multiple times, we even lost connection once and had to call back only to explain the situation three different times for them to essentially get my number and call me back later. Once we got home and we're able to eat our steaks were HORRIBLE!! Mine lacked flavor.. it basically tasted like I was eating cardboard.. I had to throw it away it was so gross. Good food, bad drinks and poor service! I took my wife here tonight for an anniversary dinner because we almost always get good food. My wife arrived first and they put her in the back by the toilet. Our waitress (I'll call her "Numb nuts" for now, came up to us after a while and asked what we wanted. So my wife ordered her favorite (A Cosmo w/Ketel One) and she ordered her dinner too because our waitress "Numb Nuts" was so slow! The waitress acted like she was walking away and I said "hold on a minute" I want a very dirty martini with Ketel One 4 olives. After a short while, Numb Nuts returned with these two pathetic looking drinks. When I questioned whether these drinks here right, Numb Nuts tried to Gas Light us tried to assure us that they were right. When she came back, my wife gave her the Cosmo and said this is not a Cosmo. And Numb Nuts started with the gas lighting and BS. Finally, after having enuf of her BS I said we are Seniors and have been drinking and making these longer that you have been alive. We know what they look like. Numb Nuts came back and asked if we wanted any condiments with our meals and my wife said "yes I want A-1". Shortly a man brought out our plates and we didn't see Numb Nuts until it was time for the check. Oh, I noticed the cost of my entree had three additional charges for my side veggies. When I asked Numb Nuts about these veggie charges, she said "Oh you ordered Premium Sides!" WTF? What are standard sides? And why didn't she deduct the cost of those prior to adding the Premium sides. Beware of gas lighting and BS at this establishment. She got a tip fitting her chitty service. I attached a photo of my pathetic drink and entree-the food was good and tastey. But, I doubt that we will be back. Beware of stupid waitresses and drink scams. Update: so after the abysmal visit we had last August 2021. We decided to give Longhorn another shot several months later. The previous visit was awful primarily because of the poor service. The only thing going for this place was that it was recently renovated and it looked very nice inside. So in December we went back for a lunch and service was much better and our service person did a very nice job. We made sure she was tipped well. The food was very good and we enjoyed our visit. Now places like The Texas Roadhouse that is nearby is a better option. They offer prime rib and aged steaks you can see as you walk in. Not so here. It's still a decent steakhouse and the prices are right as well. read more

Took over 20mins for me to get my drink. My waitress was rude, started taking my tables order then stopped to greet someone that she knew.

The service was cool. Nothing extra but still nice. But I underestimated the food. I got the ribeye with Brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese. It was soo good steak cooked a perfect medium rare, tender, flavorful, Brussel sprouts crispy and good. Mac and cheese good and cheeses. I did add a little salt to the sides but that preference. This is gonna b a long one.. we just left and it was not a good experience..at..all..from staff to food, the worst.. the hostess is supposed to set the tone for ur meal.. its 2 kids 2 adults and a short white girl with a ponytail tried to seat us at a 6 top table and we didn't need that much space .. we asked for a booth an she was struggling to find a place to sit us yet many many booths were free.. she seats us in a booth and a light skin black girl with a bun was lik NO I JUST GOT DOUBLE SAT I CANT TAKE THEM.. so we got up and moved again.. I get the servers frustration but we dnt need to no that u got double sat and don't want to serve us.. that was a side conversation between her and the hostess.. so the short white girl with the ponytail and flowered phone case, the hostess.. acted like it was a hassle to clean a booth for us.. she half cleaned it and I asked her to pick the napkins up from under the table.. we had to get napkins and wipe down the table.. a lady who we thought was our waitress came an took our order and we never saw her again.. our drinks didn't get refilled and another lady served us our food and pretty much brought us tak out boxes and our check before we were done eating.. we wanted to come out and enjoy a family meal but the staff and service here didn't support that.. it was a bad time for us.. my broccoli was extremely mushy I didn't eat it.. the fries cold.. I didn't ask for a manager because it seemed nobody really cared anyway.. we came here once before and the food and service was great.. but today I don't recommend this place and we won't b back.. we didn't tip well because who were we tipping? The lady who took our order? The lady who brought our food? Or the lady who brought our check? We had no waitress to tip but we left $2 for the half hearted effort. read more

We took my son here this afternoon at about 5pm. We wanted to give him a good meal before he ships to Ft Sill OK tomorrow. I now regret my decision to go to Longhorn. We normally go to the Chesterfield location and it is always outstanding. Our experience at the Colonial Heights location was nowhere near as good as we are accustomed to. We were greeted by an empty host stand. After standing there for a good 4mins it so a young lady came out and greeted us. We were seated for almost 10 minutes before our server arrived. We watched others get seated after us and their server greeted them and got their drinks (that's two table visits) before we saw ours the first time. All of the food was slow to come out even though the restaurant was not anywhere near what I would call busy. After apps and the arrival of food we were not checked on by our server. Had to ask for A1 for the dry, super well-done Sirloin my sister ordered (she asked for medium well) and it was almost another 10mins before it arrived. We literally had to bus our own table, the service was downright POOR. I gave her 10% even though it was NOT deserved. That was given just in case she was having a bad day...you never know what someone else is going through. My mom's chopped steak was literally burnt to a crisp and about half the size it normally is (most likely the excessive grill time caused shrinkage). Picture attached.. She had to ask for another, which we also waited forever for. When it arrived for the second time the mushrooms were EXTREMELY salty, and I'm no salt wimp. It was just not good... My Outlaw Ribeye was ordered medium, pic attached of my dry, well-done, $30 steak. If you're keeping count, that is two ruined steaks and a ruined chopped steak. I did engage the manager briefly and she seemed mortified. It's a shame that our last meal together as a family was marred by sub-par food, service, and a lack of attention to detail. First let me say that Ashleigh, the bartender was awesome! She was as attentive, prompt and friendly. Would come to see her again. However, I ordered an 8oz sirloin. The manager brought me a filet, knowing it would be trashed bc it was delivered to the wrong person I said I would take it. However when I cut into it, it was rare. I can't stomach that, so I asked the bartender to get my actual steak. And I asked the bartend could I keep the steak bc it would be tossed, for my dog. She said yes. The the manager in a sad attempt to recover said she would cook the steak to my preferred temp. I agreed not wishing to have an issue. When returned it was burnt on top, and being that I cut it into it previously , it was cooked to two different temperatures still very med rare and the other piece well done. I allowed the manager delivering to leave bc I was over it at this point. I ate one bite in an attempt to be quiet, however now I had a twice cooked filet which doesn't lend well, it became chewy and grainy. This ruining my craving for steak. Came here on a Saturday night staff and management do not handle being busy well. They've got hustle but it comes across as rude vice customer oriented. My husband's food came out well but our appetizer was cold in the center, my filet had grizzle in it and wasn't cooked to the right temp. Went for lunch on 7/12/20. Was appalled to see the lack of mask compliance by the wait staff. Masks pulled down not covering anything and others pulled down not covering their nose. About 50% of the wait staff I saw was non-compliant and I can only imagine what the back of the house is like. Our waiter was in compliance or we would have left immediately. I took my parents out to dinner here the Saturday evening before Father's Day. The wait time was about 30 minutes, but that to me was fine because it was dinner rush plus this location had just opened a few weeks ago. It is still very shiny and new looking. I did not feel that the hostesses were very friendly. That may be due to the crowd of people surrounding the front door at the time. However, our server was attentive and helpful throughout our time there. I ordered the Flo's Filet with broccoli and it tasted great! No complaints there. It was cooked medium just as I had asked. The filet was seasoned well and melted in my mouth. I have some leftovers downstairs, and I am going​ to eat it as soon as I am finished with this review because I cannot stop thinking of the taste and texture. I can't complain, we were treated very good here. We attended the friends and family event so we received a complimentary meal so that the staff is able to train prior to their grand opening. The decor inside takes me all the way back to Texas. I could still smell the fresh paint. The service was very good and the food was delicious. I had not one single thing to complain about. I will come back again after they have been open a few months to see if they keep their standards of service high. read more
