Corpus Christi has a real problem with restaurant consistency. Big chains here often struggle with two things: food quality and service. Service seems to be the bigger issue. Poor service shows up all over town. Texas Roadhouse is one of the few places that doesn't fall into that pattern. This location has been open for many years, and from the first time I went there to now, the service has stayed strong and the food has remained consistent. We decided to brave a busy Friday night with the wife and kids. I joined the waitlist through their app before we left. The wait showed about 30 minutes, which is exactly what the app warned us about. We got a text when our table was ready and checked in. After standing for just a couple minutes, a hostess brought us to our booth. Our waitress was friendly and stayed on top of everything. She checked in often and made sure the order was recorded correctly. The place was packed but still clean. I remember the days when the floors were covered in peanut shells. I kind of miss that to be honest, but it doesn't change the experience. We started with potato skins and a house salad. The skins came out hot, fresh, and tasty. The salad looked fresh and crisp. My daughter ordered the chicken strip kids meal. The strips were crispy and seasoned well, and the portion was actually pretty generous for a kids meal. That works out because she never finishes it and my teenage son will demolish the leftovers later in the middle of the night. My son ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with BBQ sauce and a baked potato. Everything looked good and he had no complaints. My wife went with the pulled pork sandwich and fries. It looked great and she didn't gripe, which is usually a good sign. I ordered the 23 oz porterhouse with a baked potato. Both were on point. I love the steak seasoning they use here, and the steak came out a perfect medium rare just like I asked for. I don't come here often anymore because the lines can get long, but it's worth the wait. After a full day of sight-seeing, Mom and I wanted the usually great food at Texas Roadhouse. There was some sort of mix-up in waiting to get seated. First I was told there was no wait and we would get seated promptly. Then I saw people repeatedly getting seated after we had arrived. In asking what the issue was, the young man behind the counter stated I had asked for a particular server. Never been here before and don't know anyone. Anyway, the other young lady stepped in and de-escalated the issue before he got out of hand. Then our server was very poor in his hospitality. He only checked on us twice, not counting bringing out our bill. He also wasn't the one who brought out our food. Does that count? Our overall experience could have been a lot better. If I could give a 0 I would. We have food allergies and normally never have issues with Texas Roadhouse. This location however was a complete joke. Not only did we have allergens in our food but the manager refused to even speak to us again or make it right. We spent our entire vacation sick in the hotel room unable to enjoy the beach due to the rashes and stomach issues. Sorry but to spend $75 to be poisoned and have no one make it right and offer to fix it aside from scrap it off the steak or salad is a joke. I planned my dinner for Veterans Day. I've never eaten here in the past. I arrived at 5 pm and asked the free voucher for a meal. The young girl at the counter was very tacky and said we ran out of vouchers. Her attitude was much louder than her words. She spoke with a get lost attitude. I am a nuclear/fossil consultant that served in the Cold War. Was looking forward to coming to the Roadhouse. The disrespect has pushed me away and I wont be back. My husband is a veteran. We traveled 45 minutes to come to Texas Roadhouse for the free veterans meal. When we got here we were told that they were out of vouchers but we could still do the meal. We sat down we were given rolla and our drinks and then someone came and said I'm sorry We aren't doing the veterans meal anymore you can have 30% off. Look, I haven't been to Texas Roadhouse since the late 90's. That was in KC when they had pails of peanuts in shells on the table and you threw the shells on the floor. That aside, the wife wanted dinner rolls so she researched and Texas Roadhouse was her choice. The food was great, rolls were amazing. The cinnamon butter was to die for, the salads great with ranch that rivals any other steak house. I prefer the sirloin because of how lean it is same with the filet. Ribeye and NY strip looked amazing. My sirloin was fantastic and perfectly cooked. Legit steak fries are the best. The only reason for 3 stars is the wait. It wasn't bad but the fact that you have to wait outside where you're eaten alive by mosquitoes, it t can be hot/humid and little coverage if it rains. The bar is too crowded to wait in. A solution would be a pipe and drape type area outside that's covered with a canopy and portable AC unit or two would be ideal. Also, calling people to the hostess station only to wait in another queue to be seated is no reprieve. They call it "on deck" but you're still just standing inside. Provide some seats. Very Disappointed and Upset. Poor management and an extreme lack of customer concern and importance. We went Sunday Oct 12, 2025 arrived early 10 mins before 11am opening. However, the doors didn't open until 11:15am, and employees were all arriving after 11am. The crowd was getting larger and more upset as each employee entered late and as each minute passed 11am. A professional management team would have apologized to the crowd and explained the situation with what was going on. When the doors finally opened, as we walked in, the crowd was told the fryer was broken so no fried foods were available. By that point, we were so upset that we decided to just leave, as the restaurant's disorganization would not lead to a good visit and meal. Four or five other families left as well. As we walked out, the employee who was going to sit us said, "Seriously!". Employees and their managers don't seem to realize the role customers play in keeping the doors open. I placed our names on the waitlist before I arrived at the restaurant. This was a great way to make sure my family got a table during dinner time! The app worked well and the accuracy of the time was great. I haven't eaten here in years and wanted to give it a try. We were seated right away with the rolls and our waiter Jonah was great! He did well at taking care of us and making sure our drinks were always full. The rolls were so great. I really loved the flavoring of them and the butter matched it perfectly. The food as whole was really great. The steaks were juicy and tender and don't get me started on the pork chop. The pork chop was cooked to perfection! 10/10 I would recommend! I loaded my baked potato for 99 cents more. The daiquiri is about $6 for a small one. Which is pretty reasonable. For a family a four our tab was $95. So pricier than most restaurants. Overall, my reason for the four stars was the cleanliness of the restaurant. Under the table was really dirty, as if they swept everything under the table. We had the most amazing waiter, young well respected kid. My husband ended up getting the ranger meal due to him not able to eat alot, and once we got our ticket to pay we asked if he can add the Veteran discount due to my husband being an army veteran. The waiter automatically thanked my husband for his services, and proceeded to ask his manger LUCAS if he can add the discount. I happened to look over at our waiter and seen LUCAS the manager scolding our waiter. The waiter came over and looked to make sure the discount was added and he said nope the manager never added it, he proceeded to go back to LUCAS the manager to inform him that the discount wasn't added, and I hear and see LUCAS once again scolding our waiter and yelling at him, LUCAS THE MANAGER did not want to give my husband the veteran discount on his meal. He did end up putting the discount on the meal, after a long period of getting in to our waiter. The waiter proceeded with our receipt and once again thanked my husband for his service and stated his dad is a marine. It's a well known spot from what we heard, and it kept that promise. We were NOT disappointed ... Seating? Highly recommend a reservation. We had a party of 14. Make a reservation if you can, it got busy and not much out door seating so plan ahead. Busy? Yes, get there early because it does get crowded. Small waiting room, unless you want to wait outside. (It's December, so it's cold out) Food? Was amazing. I got the ribeye ... Delicious, but the presentation was so so. Overall, great taste and fulfilling. Sauce for the steak, on point. Shrimp, was excellent. Service? 5 STARS - Got our food for our kid last, but our server, Adrian, made it happen. Not only did he reassure us that our food was on the way ... He brought some extra food for my kid, while she waited for her meal. I understand not all waiter(s) are like this, but these one and two persons make a visit memorable.. from the cooking staff to The front welcome team, it was a fun and energetic environment. Our server, constantly checked on us (regardless of how busy he was), I've never had to ask for a drink and never had to ask for anything, he was always there for every refill and to see how we all are doing. Since we had such a large party, we had two waiters, our table had Adrian. Sorry I never got our other waiters name, since he was helping our other table.
