I personally hate this place....food is sub par and 3 hour wait for there food is rediculous. Been there twice and I know the place was packed over capacity. Almost called the fire marshall. Fantastic food! From steaks to salads, they always please! The "sweet tea" isn't much like real Texas sweet tea, but rather slightly sweetened. The service last night was great. Sometimes they jack up the music so loud that conversations are impossible without using sign language or text messages across the table. Such a neat local food place! It was cute how they took forever. The floor was covered in peanut shells and god knows what else. It added character to my dining experience. The country tunes on the jukebox gave me the feeling of sitting in a real racist Deep South saloon! I Took out a loan to get a steak that I ordered medium rare. Couldn't find the dinner entree salad on the menu that I was hoping for, so asked if they'd make me a grilled salmon salad and described what I wanted, and they were happy to do it. The salad was substantial as an entree, the salmon was perfectly cooked. It was delicious and the manager came along later to ask if they had created the salad as I liked it. Also got a baked potato to box up and take home for lunch tomorrow. Would say that the baked taters here are the best around. Other places steam your potatoes rather than bake them, but these were cooked perfectly. I knew beforehand that this place is loud, so while that is a negative when trying to converse, it isn't fair to downgrade them for that if I already know and accept it. read more

I hate that they seat two at the tiny table with no room for food. The rolls were eaten before he even stopped back to take our order. A runner brought the tater skins and had to put the peanuts on the ledge to have room for the appetizer. They didn't bring more rolls. We were just started eating the tater skins when the salads came out. We just started working on the salads when the entrees came out delivered by another runner along with an appetizer order of ribs that we didn't order. We were eating the entrees when the waiter stopped to say that he inadvertently ordered appetizer ribs for us that we did not order. I said do you have to through them out if you take them back. He said yes but unless he took them back then he couldn't take the charge off the ticket. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. Usually, when the kitchen muffs up they eat the loss. Not pull we'll charge you if we don't take it back. This is the second time that we were rushed out of there in 20 minutes when we came early for the early dining menu. I see they are opening a new location in the old Fuddruckers in West Des Moines maybe then they will let you dine in peace instead of forcing you out the door by bringing the bill and to-go boxes while you are still eating your dinner. I still can't get them to put the Chicken Fried Chicken steak on one plate. With the small table, there is no room for all of the plates. As soon as they bring it out I now dump it all on one plate and let them take the other 2 plates back. Always busy on weekends so call ahead. Ordered a medium sirloin and got it pretty bloody rare. Mashed potatoes were meh at best. Mixed vegetables were also nothing special. I love this place. I go in once every two weeks and have my regular meal. When the bartenders see me, they have my drink waiting for me on the bar before I even sit down. If they are packed and they see me, they'll usually tell me when someone is getting ready to leave and they put my drink there for me. Great bar staff, always have a smile and are very kind to me. I always tip them good and have been never been disappointed. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious. I'll definitely go back in another week. read more

Only because there is no zero on the scale. Poor, rude service consistently. Have "tried again" several times over the past 3 years only because they are close and convenient. Each time it's "should have known". Never get a medium rare steak right. Always medium well or rare. Management has been flippant every time. Greeters always preoccupied an annoyed if I would prefer a different seat. I've experienced rolled eyes, grunts, and general dissatisfaction with me asking for anything other than what I'm given. This place is the best place ever. I love love love it. Really nice place. My friends recommended it and I told my family to go there for fathers day. My family always goes to Applebees. My family said ( and I agree too) That it is better then applebees. But if I love it, why would I give it a 4 star rating? I tried the pork chops the first time. I looked inside the pork chops and it was pink. You know what that means. If its beef, that's ok, but if its pork....you could get a stomach ache. I am very mad about this, so please don't try there pork chop. I replaced the pork chop with sirloin. there sirloin is pretty good. Im very happy that they replaced the pork chop money with the sirloin money. A cheap dinner, really good food! according to what I think, Texas Roadhouse is more food then applebees, more cheaper than applebees, more better than applebees! Love the food. My husband and I always get so much food but this last time an old lady got mad we bumped into each other in a crowded area. She blurted "excuse me" as if it was our fault. it was embarrassing. Then when we where sitting my daughter was sitting in the booth kicking it and the person behind me said to tell her to stop kicking it. My daughter is autistic and can't sit still for the hour before the food comes out. I was pissed. Her kids were doing the same and they were done eating and getting ready to leave. This restaurant has excellent food cooked just the way you ask for it. They are prompt on giving you refills on your sida and keeping fresh honey buns on your table. The dancing is enjoyable to watch and they have fresh peanuts and can at your table. The food was delightful and the taste fantastic. The great appitzers are wonderfully tasty and are wonderful to add on to your meal. The only diwnfall is they are real busy on weekend even8ngs, its difficult to find a parking spot, and the wait is extremely long. All in all i guess the wait was worth it but the difficulty finding a parking spot I do not think was necessary worth it. Keep in mind you are paying for what you get. In other words it isnt cheap but it is well worth the price. Want to enjoy your meal suggest not going on weekend evening but at another less stressful eating time. My parents picked this place for my Mom's Birthday, they made reservations for 7:00 pm on Tuesday night. I got off work at 7:30 and went right over to meet them. I went to the hostess and told her I was meeting a party, told her the name. She informed me that they had checked in, but since the whole party wasn't present, they weren't seated. I asked her where they were? She replied, 'I don't know, the bar?' They weren't at the bar. She said about 40 minutes prior they checked in and she hadn't seen them since. I asked to speak to the management, his response was that it was company policy to not seat even with reservation if the whole party was not present. Soon after, my sister found me, they were crammed into a booth. I've never been to this restaurant, won't be going back. read more

HATED IT!!!! This restaurant is a pigsty... Staff is very rude especially to younger patrons, the atmosphere is very noisy... For some reason this restaurant has a policy that the more people want to talk the louder they need to turn the music up which makes people talk louder which then has them turning the music up louder..... Giving this place one star is still too much... For a 'C' rated steak house I would have expected them to concentrate more on service, cleanliness, and customer service... I usually don't like the chain gang restaurants but having been to a Texas roadhouse in Texas, I gave it a try.....Now I go here quite often. For the money you get great sized portions and the food has always been excellent. This place is usually busy, so do the call ahead to cut down the wait- they don't take reservations.
