We come every week . It's 90 miles roundtrip. I get grilled shrimp and my husband ad mom get steaks and we spend around $60. Normally the manager is by our table a couple of times. Today my shrimp was gray and mushy and smelled fishy. I have been throwing up all the way home. Our waitress took it to her manager and came back out ad said sorry about the shrimp. They were not busy . It was around 3:45 PM when we were there. Normally the manager comes by today we did not see her even when I could eat the shrimp. I am sure they won't miss our business but if I was that manager I would come out every time there was a problem. The steak seemed pretty cooked, over cooked barely lukewarm and Sweet potato was also barely lukewarm and under cooked. Inside not very soft, as it should have been. Not good service from are waitress, I had to ask another one for lemons, she never brought. Then when it came time to pay the bill, she said oh you can leave it on the table, but I needed change. I ordered the New York Strip MWell with a salad. The beer was already in front of me when the salad came out a couple of minutes later. One of the managers delivered my salad and let me know if there were any issues to ask for her. HORRIBLE! Not busy at all on a Tuesday evening after ordering waited an hour and 15 minutes to get a roadkill with raw onions, no mushrooms and the steak was so hard. You could not even cut it. You could see the picture. The blooming onion was also raw in the middle with dough and batter, the onion was raw and the top half of the onion was fried so hard you would almost break a tooth. No more porterhouse, what?!? When we go we always got the porterhouse and I was looking forward to it for my birthday. The excuse we got is that their supplier is out which I'm thinking was not accurate. We walked in at around 4 for an early dinner. The hostess asked how many, we looked around and said 2. There was no one else around. She then asked, "can I get your name?" Uh ok. She took a printout, taped it on the station and a seater with a tray grabbed it right away, got utensils and bread then called out my last name. We were the only ones there and she was standing right there the whole time. Not to judge nor put down in the least but she appeared to have some special needs which is fine, it's just the whole interaction felt weird. We were asked to pick a steak but I saw no porterhouses so we just said we'd order from the menu. It was a huge disappointment they did not have the porterhouse anymore. When the wait person came by and took our drinks, she asked if we wanted rolls when a basket was sitting right there on the table, "no, I think we're ok" weird again. Drinks came and the server asked what we wanted. She sounded like a robot, upselling everything. Not cool. "All I'd like to have is the strip medium well, salad with blue cheese and corn, that's it." Would you like to add fried onions or mushrooms? How about some shrimp on top, can I bring you an onion blossom? Maybe some pickles? Just stop! When I said all I'd like it meant it's all I'd like. She was a bit irritating calling me and my wife "sweetie, hon, sugar" were old enough to be her grandparents. It was inappropriate. Not much personality. Our salads came and we had about 3-5 minutes to eat those before the steaks came out, super irritating. After another 2 minutes the manager came by and asked how was everything, is your steak cooked ok? We hadn't even cut into them. I told him "I hope so" The steak was very good and very tender, I can't complain about the food. Across the street is an Outback that we tried a few weeks earlier and it was tougher than shoe leather and super gristly. We will never go back there. The ambiance is the same as every other Texas Roadhouse. The dining room was still rather empty when we were leaving but there was about 12 people waiting to be seated. I looked at them and asked why are you all just sitting there, there's plenty of open tables. They only shrugged. There was no need to make those folks wait, the front of the house is extremely inefficient. Another thing that rubbed me wrong was they were conducting interviews in the dining room. I'm guessing there's an office in the back. Since the food was very good, I'm giving them a 4 star. I'm sure the server was doing the required upsell so I don't think that was her fault. Shortly put, none of the modifications I asked for came out correct (no croutons on the salad; a side of ranch to go with the baked potato), and the meat on my entree came out undercooked. It also was a loooong wait for the food, which was surprising given that we came in the early afternoon (around 1:30, so after lunch rush) and it wasn't packed. On the upside, our waitress was just as nice as can be. Given the unfortunate lingering memory of biting into undercooked chicken, I'm not planning on coming back here. We then moved to Rome and found this location and were excited to bring the kids and enjoy a great dinner. Every time we drive by there the place is packed. I just don't get it after eating there once... I ordered a filet and it was tough and overcooked - came out medium well and I ordered medium rare. The service was slow and the sides were average at best. Even the sweet tea had that weird funk that happens when you don't clean the dispensing nozzles. I am floored by the rudeness of this place. Never mind the hour wait as that was to be expected during the holidays. What really got me is the fact that they are making people ...ELDERLY people wait out in their cars or outside. In the spring and fall, I can possibly see that. I gave this place one star because the server was great. However - The volume of the music was ridiculously loud. We couldn't hear each other speak. When we arrived the manager was yelling at one of this employees to tell customers to move their cars. Unprofessional. We ordered appetizers and they brought out our salads before the appetizers. Well to start it off I called in my reservation at 1pm for 7:30 and I had a party of 9 they completely forgot about it and refused to seat my party unless I had 7 of the 9 members and when we finally sat down they put us at an extremely small table and the manager came up to my party and completely disrespected all of us by accusing us of vaping in the restaurant, it was disgusting and really rude. Rome, GA. 'Texas Road House' November 11, 2021 Thu. 21:25 check out Poor and shameful Veteran treatment on Veteran day! They advertised with big banner 'Free meal for Veteran on the Veteran Day' for over two weeks. Then when I arrived with my wife, and show Veteran ID. the manager Sumner, three times highlighted that the diner is on her... (not "ON US") when she put my name on the voucher. Then another person take me to the glass refrigerator where was laying some dry steaks with some tear papers with number on it, and she ask which steak I like to have. I say that I like to see the Menu first, but when she insist, I pointed on one. At the table, I give the waitress the Voucher and pointed that I like to use it. Because I already chose the steak, my wife chose the chicken diner. They run out of Coca Cola, so the only choice was Died Cola and Sprit. When my wife ask for Hot Tea, they have no clue what is a Hot Tee. She did not hesitate to ask how long I had lived here as no one ever ordered hot tea. - Longer that you live baby, over 40 years in Rome. (Later they find out what it is the hot tee, and they served it). The steak was tough, and my wife holds me, not to complain. The rice that I order, taste like nothing I tasted before, and they replace with a Stake-fry. At the check out when I got the receipt, was coffee that I do not order (later they remove), and zero discount for the coupon she took when take order. When I ask how about the coupon for Veterans that she took when she take order, she say that the Steak was 8 oz. not 6 oz. and the chicken was "Herb Crusted Chicken" NOT "Country Fried Chicken" (even the price was same $11.99). So I ask for the Voucher back, and manager. The Manager Sumner returned back the coupon, and say the same thing about the stake and chicken. At the end, she add, that I can use the coupon on the next time visit. - There will be no next time visit, not in Rome "Texas Road House". I do not need the voucher, or free meal to go to restaurant for dinner, but even after I served 8 years in the Vietnam era, what is for, the crap "thank you for your service". Shame! Just had the WORST experience at Texas Roadhouse in Rome. The waitress took my drink order and had to tell her THREE times for her to get my drink order right. We got there at 5 pm. We finally were seated at 620pm. We got our appetizer at 7 pm. Finally asked about our food after 4 people came in after us and they got their food before us. The waitress said let me check on it. The manager then talked to us and we told her our frustration and after all that the waitress NEVER put our order in AT ALL. I M very patient but good grief. So we told the manager we were leaving. She said i can have your meal in just a few minutes. I said no thanks. Then on the way out the waitress chased after us begging to come back and sit down. We just left. Another excellent meal here! Came in as usual for my "treat myself" lunch, as this restaurant is easily able to accommodate my dietary restrictions. My server Kelly, after seeing that my steak was not cooked to order, immediately called over her manager to correct the situation. My dad used to buy ribeye steaks from Omaha Steaks. I loved them. Saturday, Feb.5th, 2022 about 5 p.m. my wife and I ate at Texas Roadhouse in Rome, Ga. with another couple. I ordered a ribeye steak. When they brought my plate, my steak looked more like a chuck steak than a ribeye. It was full of fat and gristle, was about 1/4 inch thick at one end, and definitely was not a ribeye. I didn't say anything because of the couple that was with us. I should have called for the manager and complained on the spot. I may not ever return to Texas Roadhouse, but if I do and such a thing were to happen again, I wouldn't hesitate to call them out. I would advise anyone else to do the same. read more
